I've been neglecting my phone for a while, so I decided I should update my rom. Currently I'm running an ls980 with an old beanstalk build with the zv8 ota being the last one I installed. I'm looking through the mahdi thread to flash to it, and I was wondering if anyone could guide me through the process. Do I need to flash a new modem since I'm running a 4.4 build? Also, at what point throughout the installation could I update to zvd or is it even compatible with mahdi? Last I remember was when zva came out and there was some issue with the bootloader it caused. Does that happen with zvd? I appreciate any help

Hello all,
I have a G2 running that I haven't touched, except for rooting. It's running Android 4.2.2, kernel 3.4.0-perf-g7c2d0a2, build JDQ39B, software version VS98011A. I'm running stock (just as it came), no ROMs, nothing else, TWRP not installed.
If I do the OTA update that started popping up a couple of days ago (I would like to update), will I screw my phone up? Will I screw up my root? I am most worried about losing my tethering....
Thank you for any help
Most often..No. Some people get lucky, but it isn't recommended.
Hey ive got a rooted d802 running the original rooted 4.2.2 firmware it came with. Right now ive got a notification for a software update about 70mb large. It doesnt specify what the update is. I'm hoping it might be kitkat. My question is can i update my rooted phone without any problems?

No, when rooted never install OTAs as it can lead to incompatibilities that could get you stuck in bootloop etc.
install a custom recovery(i prefer TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995) then choose a ROM, ensuring that it is D802 compatible (should say in the thread). The ROM will usually be updated to the latest available android version, if you dont want any tweaks go for a pure stock ROM:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521152.
Ensure that when changing android versions that you are backed up (Titanium Backup:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en) and make sure you follow the instructions on the ROM thread accurately.
Hello
Anyone know where to get latest basebands without flashing ota on the d802 international? I have been googling without finding anything and i have seen that my gfs unrooted and stock phone has newer baseband then my cm11 phone, but thats probably because I never installed kitkat stock.
Hi Guys. I recently sold my HTC One M7 for an LG G2 and never looked back, so I'm hoping some of you guys/gals could help ease the transition. I got this phone already rooted and since then have installed the latest build of CM12 Lollipop. I want to flash a new kernel but have read that certain kernels have to have certain modems and/or bootloaders. So my questions are :
How do I find out which bootloader i'm running
Which modem should I be running with CM12
Which bootloader do I need
To fill in the rest of the blanks, I'm running an AT&T D800 and would like to flash the Render Kernel onto CM12 Lollipop. I'm also currently running a KK Modem, is this correct? Lastly, I do not know the method the original owner used to root. Thanks in advance!!
Hi everyone. My phone is rooted and has Safestrap Recovery. I've been anticipating the Android L update for some time and have been used the better part of my weekend trying to figure out how to get that experience. However I'm near my wits end and thought I might as well just ask the experts.
Has anyone tried or know of any way to try out the new update? I've tried a Cyanogenmod 12 rom with the Safestrap Recovery on a new partition or "slot" with no luck. I'd prefer some method that'll let me flash a non-stock rom so I can have the ability to tether (I'm on a T-Mobile sim card with an unlocked phone).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have also tried a Lollipop ROM, specifically the GPE one, with no luck. We unfortunately cannot use Cyanogenmod, due to the locked bootloader which prevents using custom kernels (SafeStrap is like a workaround, with some limitations). It's only a matter of time before the official Lollipop update rolls around. By then, there'll hopefully be a Safestrap-adapted GPE 5.0 Lollipop ROM.
