Still waiting for 2.3.3 OTA - Nexus One General

Just curious, I'm still waiting for my OTA
is anybody else still waiting?
my roommate and girlfriend have received theirs.
getting teased by both heh,
point is I don't know whats going on

Just do a manual update. I also got tired of waiting and took matters into my own hands and now I'm on 2.3.3

I have the CyanogenMod and I have to wait a little for 2.3.3... with the notification always show!!!

CM7 has already merged 2.3.3, just flash one of the nightlies. As for the notification, there is an apk included within tiny GAPPS called FOTA Kill. Just flash that and you won't get any more update notifications.

it takes like 5 minutes to manually update
just put update zip on your sd card and name it update.zip
shut down, reboot while holding trackball, select bootloader then recovery
when it loads the screen with the ! on it press up and power and then just do Apply sdcard:update.zip

This. It is so simple, I don't get why people don't do it.

Got my OTA last night about 10pm PST. Too bad I already have screen burn in otherwise the black status bar would have been nicer.

How does burn in effect black?

arghhh, the wait is killing me.

I don't get why some people are groaning that their OTA never came when they can actually manually update their phone. It's just a simple work of downloading the update source file from *official* Google link and after a few clicks and several reboots your Nexus One will be up and running with the latest Gingerbread update. All the download links and detailed procedures can be found all over the web so why not take the plunge?

Yes it's very easy to manually update.
But I guess it's because it's nice to see the update notification.
Also, the OTA update is a little reminder for us that we don't need to use a computer to get updates.

I flashed a stock rooted 2.3.3 I just can't stand stock. Cyan7 ain't ready so I'm back on cyan6.1.1. I'm getting my update notification constantly for gingerbread while running cyan6! Didn't think it was possible. Wish it would go away tho
P.s. notification started yestarday. On t mobile in NJ

i thought this is xda, where everyone flashes the update as soon as the link is out

Help with a TB issue would be appreciated!

Hey guys, noob here and am kind of hung up...
I d/l TB from the Market some time ago, I used it maybe 2 or 3 times to go through and delete a few unwanted apps. I went through a little tough period where I accidentally deleted 'Google Talk', I found the apk's and fixed that whole issue; however it seems ever since that incident TB will not fire up (correctly). It is telling me it cannot get root access (though I KNOW my phone is rooted). When I goto Problems>Get Busy Box it seems to d/l, but then I get an Error at the top of my device stating that it failed and to see the website for more trouble shooting. I have un-installed TB, re-installed and still noooo luck.
Does anyone have any idea whats going on? Thanks in advance!
Open superuser, tap on TB and "forget " su access. Reboot. Reopen TB and grant su access again.

Oddly enough it doesn't show any Apps on the 'apps' tab in su?
Hmmmm... looks As if my phone may not be rooted any longer? I originally did it through z4root, and now that app isn't in the market.. am I missing something here?
Think it was that EA28 update that did all this. Trying to figure out how to manually root now.
Probably the easiest way to get back to a stock rooted image would be to download an odin image and install it that way. Or are you trying to just get root access back?

The EA28 does remove root access. I tested it on my wife's Fascinate.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?
EDIT: Another thing I noticed is when i go into Boot Recovery (using vol down+up+power, wait till 2nd samsung logo, vol d...the text is blue, when I hit apply sd:update.zip it goes to red and says its VoodooLagFix at the top?? This was supposed to be an update.zip that got me rooted+busybox... I am getting alittle confused here lol
Awesome !! Got EB01, Froyo 2.2 with Super Clean 2.4... thanks a lot man. My first custom ROM ever haha
You will have to try out Super Clean 2.5! It is compiled of nearly 75% of EB16 source code. The 2.4 I have had some battery life issues. About 12-14 hours tops on a full charge. I am hoping that super clean 2.5 will help with the issue. It might be something to look into.

[Q] Just Returned to Stock: Won't update past 2.2? Help!

I just returned my MT4G to complete stock (s=on also) and it won't update past 2.2. Not even 2.2.1.... I believe gingerbread is out now for stock too. Please help. Thank you.
(I even did the checkin method a couple of times)
Just download and install the update via sdcard. That would be how they do it at tmobile stores anyways.
Here is how to update to 2.3.4 via sdcard

1. Download the PD15IMG.zip file posted by Gr33nF0x http://megaupload.com/?d=N8XGHXJC
2. Put file on the root of your sdcard (don't put it in any folder)
3. go to settings/applications make sure fastboot is unchecked (on 2.2.1)
4. power off
5. push and hold volume down and power till you get into hboot
6. it will scan file when its done it should ask you to update push volume up
Any reason why it wouldn't update over the air? Also, is the gingerbread update widespread now, or is it still in selective updates...? Thanks.

You will get the OTA when they decide to push it to you or you can go to your local Tmo store and they will do it via sdcard or you can do what i posted witch that file is from a Tmo sdcard
Any way to do this but without wiping the phone? That's why I want the OTA...
Honestly a wipe isn't that bad.
Back up your contacts through your gmail, back up your photos/music/videos to your SD card if by default it isn't saved.
Sure it takes some time to get your apps back, it takes some time to set your phone up to the way you like it but it still serves its purpose doesn't it?

do what the above people have told you to do, ask your wife if there are any files she would like you to save currently on her sdcard. Common sense.....

I understand the frustration, I just spent about 4 hours the other night updating my sister's Vibrant to 2.2.1.
You could however wait for the push to your phone. Its there.
I did this with my my touch 4g before getting the vibrant, and the 2.2.1 ota came instantly... I'm wondering if something went wrong that would cause it not to receive the ota instantly like MY MT4G...
I can't wipe her phone again because I just did 2 days ago when returning her phone from rooted custom rom back to stock. She just set her phone up the way she wanted...lol. Oh well, I'll just wait for the ota (hopefully nothing is holding it back). If it were my phone, I don't care about wipe.

Gingerbread ota = nice

There are a lot of threads I'm sure but I recently Odin dk28 and accepted ec05. I checked for ota and it never came thru so I found a site and dl the update. Simple rename and went to factory recovery and installed.
I was worried about a data wipe this way but it did not. It installed perfectly and is running great. No data loss. Took me 15 mins total.
After trying all gbread leaks and many countless roms this ota seems to be working very well on the old epic. Breathes life back into it.
Linpacks 18ish and quadrants 1700+ for me w 24 apps. Overall very very happy for a stock phone. The epic should have had this a long time ago
yepper, just dl'd and I am impressed. All around worth the wait update. Doubt we get anything else, but it'll keep me happy....till I update to a new phone.
Any chance you have the link for where to download it. Would like to do it for my girlfriends phone

I uploaded the zip I downloaded to update to 2.3.5
You need to apply this to a stock Froyo EC05 phone via stock recovery.
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8DFupwiCOXyZGY2MzU4ZGUtNDlkNS00ODVhLTg3MTMtYjUyMzI1MGY4MGU1
It is in my google docs folder.
If google asks you to login; just use a different browser than IE. I have it set as public but it seems IE and google docs don't talk well.
Rename that zip to update.zip and copy it to the sd card, turn the phone off and boot into stock recovery. Then choose install from update.zip
Good luck
Thanks for the link, I got it. My only question is I don't remember the recovery boot up sequence, I have an EVO and if I remember correctly the Epic has a 3 button press to get there...
Sorry I know this is extremely noobish sounding, but I have never messed with her phone outside of loading DK28
Are there random reboots? That was the only thing holding me back from going to gb

flashed the update zip and had ei22 b4 it came ota but being stock it runs pretty good i think. cant wait for devs to work on gettin roms all bugfree

Write-protected file?
When I try to move the file to my SD card it says the file is write protected. I have no idea what that means. Any clues anyone?
i am sooooo annoyed with this ota because my phone hasnt recieved it yet!!!! ive manualy update the firmware and android like five times a day since i herd it was released but still no luck i know that i can get the update from the forums but i just want to feel the satisfaction of getting it OTA after months of WAITINGGGG for this to be released i dont just want to cheat and get it the easy way... anybody else with me or should i just stop being stubbern and get the update files?

NS4G ICS Update file?

My phone recently had a nervous breakdown so I returned to stock with a clean system and no root and what not. I went through a few updates and now I'm on 2.3.7 and I haven't gotten the ICS update at all. I keep checking but nope.
Anyone have the update.zip for it so I can just do it manually?
at this moment, there isn't... use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575502
and flash it via ODIN...
Yeah I kinda want to go through a normal update and not lose my stuff and are setup. Thanks though!
I guess ill just wait more. Strange how it doesn't show up.

After ICS, locking screen = locking up device. Requires hard reset

I was running Thor Rom, but I installed the update, but from This thread and others, even the ones I had to decrypt first. The update always went smooth and ICS looks and works great; except....
Any time the screen goes to sleep, or I press the power button to turn off the screen, the screen won't wake up. OK, correction, it WILL wake up if I turn it on within ~10 seconds, but wait longer than ~20 seconds and it won't come back on. I have to press and hold the power button to apparently shut it down (hard to tell because you can't see anything and there are no indicator lights). Then I have to press and hold it again and it boots back up.
Hence, I have to press and hold the power button for several seconds twice each time I want to use it.
I'm not sure if it's shutting down or just hard freezing. I can't seem to shake this. It didn't do this with the old stock rom or Thor.
Ideas?
Currently Running the following on my A500 1.0
Image: Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1
Build: Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1
same problem
I have the same problem, I updated my tablet via the acer update and now it does that :/
First I thought it was some problem with a program I had installed, but then did a factory reset and left a couple programs and still doing that.
Im going to try to hold the reset button to see what happens.
This issue is known to occur with several custom ROMs and is referred to as the Sleep of Death or SoD. It occurs when the tablet goes into deep sleep and refuses to wake up. Thor has suggested those affected and using his ROM to increase the voltages of their CPU or flash his performance kernel. If you are using Stock ICS from Acer then I think there's a thread documenting issues with it. You can check that, it should be in the general section. Hope this helps. It happened to me only once and I can't recall which ROM, but it never happened again.

That's just the thing, I want the stock ICS and I thought I had it (still think I do!). I'd like to go back to stock to make things work correctly. However, there is no 'check update' button for me in my settings. I have no way of looking for an OTA update that I can find. I'm dumb at times, but not that dumb.
I have the same problem and I'm running CM9 now. I started with the same ICS update that you listed in your first post. I have two GEN1 ICS updates I think I'm going to try. Since the problem has transcended roms (Stock ICS to CM9) I'm thinking this is a firmware issue with the CUS update. I read a thread that said (man I'm rhyming tonight...) the CUS didn't come with some firmware images that the GEN ones did.
EDIT: Since I'm on the V3 Bootloader I don't think I can install these updates. I decrypted them, but it's still failing to install. Probably have to be on the stock bootloader for these to work.

I downgraded my tablet back to 3.2 using info in one of the Dev threads. Then I let it update with OTA updates to 3.2.1. I then had to install the Acer Update Helper app on the play store in order to get it to update to ICS. The point of all this is that until I went back to a stock 3.2 I could not do an OTA update as the roms were not stock.
Then once I was on stock 4.0.3 ICS I was STILL getting SoDs. I put in a trouble ticket to Acer and the response I got was to do a full hardware reset (power off, hold power and volume up until it vibrates, then toggle the screen lock switch a couple times.) I finally got back to installing a custom rom (flexreaper r13) and I now no longer have SoDs. A lot of work but I think I'm finally stable.

That's what I had installed when I started the process. Of course it eventually got overwritten with the unpatched stock bootloader, but that was easily fixed.

How did you manage that? I need to figure something out because right now I can't set my tablet down for two minutes without doing a hard reset. Over clocking helps, but it's got limits. Not to mention the wifi...Man it's horrible now!
