Hello. How are you? I Would like to request ( i dont really know if is possible) the possibility of creating A2SD on cursorsense or a Stock with root 3.05.401.3. Do you think is possible? I Like speed and sense, just missing the A2SD . Thank you wherever is possible or not. I'll await a reply. =) Regards
The feature of a2sd must be supported by kernel, because the script would not be executed if sd is not mounted so we have to make some change to kernel that we could have sd mounted before the a2sd script's exed.

cursor tried working on this for his rom but i guess there was no possible solution
i hope it is possible though, my phone gets full from hardly any apps
oh. if is on framework, there are issues wich is hard to make work i presume. Hm Well If is possible wouuld be great =). Thank you for replying
Not the framework, the linux kernel. It would need to support one of the ext filesystems (ext2, ext3, ext4). You can check whether it does by executing
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/filesystems
and looking for any of the ext's in the output. If it's not there, one would need to recompile the kernel adding this support.
Hmm although I don't really know why nobody uses yaffs on partitions of the sdcard - anybody know whether it would work? Or make sense?
The kernel does support ext2/3/4 but the problem is that it executes the app2sd script before it mounts the SDcard.
Perhaps the new apps2sd script would solve the issue. (new as in cm5)
yeah I just found http://wiki.theandroidkitchen.com/index.php?title=CursorSense32A_FAQ which kind of explains this. I'm not really content with that explanation though, if it were as simple as tweaking the apps2sd script surely cursor would have implemented it?
EDIT I just looked at the apps2sd script on my current rom (see signature) and as I suspected, it's the script itself that issues the command to mount the sdcard ext partition. So that explanation kinda doesn't make sense to me.
There's an init.rc script that comes with the kernel (boot.img). But the kernel takes a while to load up the SD for some reason and hence the issues.
It's easy to edit but I'm not exactly sure what has to be edited.
On my cousin's phone I just moved the system dalvik-cache to /cache to free up about 20 MB.
Also move market cache to /cache:
Clean it out and symlink to /cache
cd /data/data/com.android.vending
rm -R cache
mkdir /sdcard/cache/market
ln -s /sdcard/cache/market cache
Click to collapse
Or just move first and then symlink it
You can query the size of a folder using: du -hs
If you really really want Apps2SD someone can look into it. It can be solved by using an alternate kernel (sanpei). But there hasn't been much activity with 1.5 Sense ROMs here on xda.
Alternately you can find plenty of 32A 1.5 Sense ROMs on international forums.

Thank you everyone. You guys as always are great. Im sorry to request a 1.5 android with a2sd. Without wanting to consider the devs work as in my opinion all work is really great, i was interested on a simple stable fast rom with sense with a2sd because happens that most wich has sense becomes very slow for me on daily use. The roms i had an excelent experience was villain 3.4 for magic ( cant use because it freezes but great release never had slow issues) its a 2.1 android. Also capyslide 1.6 ( only issues was that wasnt completle stable but o loved it. The rc became very slow compared to the other previous versions )
Sorry to post this opinion. But ive been looking and since most of roms 2.1 android are slow compared to what i need, at least i didnt had the experience i expected, cyanogenmod 5.07 in my opinion at speed has grown alot compared to the 4.2.1.15 version to bad isnt sense where i have a preference ( imagine for example i work as agent of a doctor, make alot of calls and in emergency situations if my phone is slow when i need to call an ambulance, im giving an example of the emergency situations wich might happen ) so prefered to roll back until there was. a more mature rom 2.1.
Thank you for all wich are reading and replying =)
That is the main reason of my request. Thank you

CM4 and CM5 are both mature ROMs. You just have to downgrade your radio.
If you don't want to, use any one of the new radio ROMs with sanpei kernel that have apps2sd support.
I have a HTC Dream running CM5 and I don't see how CM5 can be considered slow at all. If you are really looking for speed, use CM5 with SetCPU to overclock to 576 MHz and you will see a noticable performance increase. rps13 is working on ironing the kinks in the 710 MHz oc so look at that one too.
If you limit your background apps, the ROM really flies. Just flash stock CM5 and bcrook's officially supported kernel port instead of one of the ones you see in these forums until you see more verification amongst the users for stability of those specific ROM blends. Cyanogenmod.com forums is your best bet.
2)
If you are keen on using a Sense ROM, you should be able to take a apps2sd enabled sanpei .32.9 kernel (boot.img and wlan.ko as usual) and flash it to Cursorsense to get working apps2sd.
3)
The .27 kernel Cursorsense is based on may have issues mounting the sd card quickly for apps2sd to happen.
Finally there is the option of flashing .9 (or some other version) version of Cursorsense where apps2sd was actually enabled, but you may run into issues.
Mod edit.: not (yet) dev related, moved to general

Could you please explain what i should really do in orther to be able to use app2SD on cursor?
I like Cyanogenmod but the thing is i prefer much more the sense. I know i'm a bit dificult with taste but sense i moved to sense i didnt want anything else.
I would be happy to try your suggestion on cursorsense. I need to get the boot img of sanpei. but how exacly would it work? You know wher ei can find a tutorial or something wich would give me a begining to start? Thank you

Apps2SD is definitely a good option for people who need it, but I can't deliver it with this ROM.
The kernel doesn't load the SD card soon enough to handle the automatic Apps2SD script.
Guys, I really want to help you out here, but I don't know if I can.
Maybe another ROM might be best if you need the space... sorry eyegor.

Instead of automatic how about manualy? For instance a system as Cyanogenmod but. instead of loading the apps automaticaly, we have a loader(wich would work as an emulator or something identical) wich run the apps wich are installed on the SD Card?
To activate this option this loader must work as an app, and we could install apps from it. Wouldnt be this way more stable?

Try this Rom

Bonsai has a file that can be flashed prior to the main rom which can enable journaling. Why do you want a RFS rom? It's been deprecated in the newer phone builds and is a whole lot slower. However, if you dig back in the development forum about 6 months you can find RFS compatible roms, but IIRC no one will support them.

It really isn't all that much work, everything is pretty much done for you. It's just a matter of following like 3 steps. The performance boost in converting is far worth it too.

1.Download EXT4 Rom to your SD card.
2. Install one-click-root 3.0.0.6

4.When it is done converting to EXT4, Flash the ext4 rom.
Good to go.

Use wipe data/cache (factory reset ) option in CWM . Make sure you install a rom after that
Just do wipe data from cwm recovery and flash the new rom. If im not wrong you only have to flash ext4 patch for an ext4 rom but not the other way around. Tbh i didnt find any major difference between ext3 and ext4.
Thanks Guys i thought as much but wanted to make sure. No i never noticed any major differences between them but i want to flash Honeysense 4.0 when it's uploaded and it's ext3. Gotta love Honeysense!!! Big ups to Samuel!!!!! Just a few more posts then i can post on the dev area's of the forum. Silly rule!
Haha me too. Got what i think is a bug in tb fusion rom so trying to get my posts up so i can post it in the dev forum. Might give honeysense a go actually while the bug gets fixed.
Honeysense is quite good
but im waiting for the EXT4 version now.. please come out tonight

A question from me, so if coming from ext 4 you just do a full wipe in CWM (system, data, cache and then factory reset) then install the ext 3 ROM.
But what if your on ext 3 and want to try a ext 4 ROM what is the procedure ?

Is different ways to partition the SD Card but what are the differences exactly and what are the pros or cons for our phone I have no idea, at least not yet

This is not true! This is not concern SD card.
If you use EXT 4 in your phone, for example using rom ARHD 5.1.11 which is build on EXT 4 , your device will work much better, and SD card stay untouch.
So does the ext4 format speed up the usage or not? AND is it noticeable or not?
Because in nearly every update for roms they write speed improvements, but I don't really notice them.

I think the speed improvements are quite minimal but noticeable, after formating everything to ext4, i noticed a smoother handling.
So why not trying out and test a little bit? It works, dont worry The newest LordMOD UE Kernel for example has many ext4 patches inclusive.

Forgot to say: I use CM #108 with LordMOD UE 4.5.1 Kernel and newest Radio, works like a charm

Hi,
i am interessted to flash your rom on my tablet.
my question is:
will your rom work on the hannspad sn10t1?
do i have to flash a kernel for the hannspad if its work?
you typed that youtube hd video is not working, is this just a problem on youtube or is hw accelerating not working?
Great Job on this Rom!!! It's actually buttery smooth. loaded it up for my wife before I gave her my GTablet.
Thanks to everyone that left feedback.
I hate to add useless posts that just say that I am flashing it, so I'll say I'm flashing it and then ask if there is anything that you want us to look for or to try out for you. Looks solid so far, though I got FCs on the default keyboard. I'm clearing caches and such and trying again.
Edit: that worked. I'm good now. Just wish some apps could utilize the screen size.
So I am trying to flash this rom after removing CM7. However, Its been sitting at the "Android" screen for over 30 minutes. Does this use a different partition than the usual 2048 / 0 ?
I'm sure you can leave the 2gb/0 partition in, but you should reboot into CWM and clear caches and fix permissions first. If that doesn't work, wipe data too. It should boot fine then, probably just after another cache wipe.

The TB folder should be on your SD card. Prior to flashing a new ROM you can use the menu in TB to create an update zip file, which is flashable in recovery. When you flash the ROM zip you can also flash the TB zip, which will install TB on your phone without having to download it from the Play store. All you have to do then is do a batch restore of your user apps from TB and you'll be set.

FinZ28: thanks for reply but somehow I put the TA backup folder from my old ROM in a few of the folders on my phone and it popped up lol But now the problem I am having is with a2sd. It seems that all the apps are going both on my internal space & on the a2sd I created...Why is it doing that? I want all the apps to go to a2sd I created and not internal storage...
Do you know if your new ROM supports a2sd? You might have to find the right package and flash it to gain support for the a2sd partition. Check the OP of the ROM post. Better yet, check TB, and look at the memory readings for all of the partitions listed. If your partition isn't there, then it isn't supported natively.
aarsyl: I am running .500 reloaded ROM & you need to flash DarkTremors a2sd. I first created a parition w/ swap file 0 and 1 gig of space then I flashed ROM .500 reloaded then gapps then DT a2sd. When I go to Titanium I can see the 1 gig partition I created it says SD card (a2sd) and its taking up about 200 MB, however under internal its also taking up 200MB...the whole point of the a2sd is to free up space for internal storage..Why is it taking up space in both internal & the a2sd partition?
That's because it doesn't remove the ENTIRE thing to a2sd,to MY knowledge. I may be wrong, for I haven't dealt with that for a long time.
I suggest that you do a test. Install a few apps from the play store, and see what happens with the two partitions, and also monitor which partition loses more space.

Well like I said it seems to be taking space on both internal storage and the SD card... I just installed an app and it took 14mb off of SD (a2sd partition I made) & 24MB off internal...What do I need to do to get it to only take space on the a2sd and NOT internal storage?
Bump anyone? I notice in TA sum apps are on the SD card while some are not...How is that when I installed all the apps at the same time?!
Any input appreciated...
Ok...so know one else seems to know the answer to your question. Have you tried a2sd with another rom to see if it behaves the same way? That's the most that I can think of. Preferably a rom that already has it baked in.
Just trying....

Appreciate the response aarsyl however, what other rom should I try it with? .500 reloaded seems to work the best. Is there anything similar that has everything that ROM offers? Many roms I see around here always have something missing, be it FFC, video, 4g, ect....
Wow...you're asking for a lot. Just kidding...I just haven't tried out Roms for my OG Evo for months...give me until tomorrow, and I will return with an appropriate answer. But FYI, Sense 2.1 roms are definitely your best bet, since the phone was made for it (stock). If you don't prefer Sense, at least stick to GB. There are no ICS roms with everything working, and JB is even worse.

Any gingerbread rom has everything working. Only the ICS/JB rom's have things broken. Jellybread and Thundershock are 2 of the most popular. Emilio Unchained isn't far behind. Mokee if you want a really different feel. Unoffical CM7.1 in Original Development section if you want a stock CM feel that you can customize and make your own without having things you don't want or need.

.Reloaded is based on 2.3.5 and deck's custom ROM. The other ROMs are based on 2.3.7 and have CM controls. Some app's function differently. Different lock screen controls. etc. Few things like that. Don't get me wrong, I like reloaded, but it could use some updates.
Cyanmobile and MIUI are also... interesting, because they are quite different. As long as you are using the GB version of MIUI, everything will work. They are also 2.3.7 based.
If you like reloaded, stick with it. There is nothing wrong with it, and it's a good, stable rom. The question was, what has everything working. Sense 1.0 ROMs are the best for everything working. If you don't like sense, I was giving options since you already use reloaded.
souleman: what would u recommend as the two best ROMS under 2.3.7 with everything working including hdmi? Just wondering if the ones u mentioned are really better than relaoded or just a different look...
