so i currently have mjd cyanogenmod 7 nand on my hd2, i was wondering how do i install a new build on their when a new one comes out?
1. do i have to flash nand, update rom , and radio again?
2. how do i back up my data?
follow the instructions on the thread
If you're hoping for a new release by MDJ you may be waiting a while. He's not allowed to share his work on here anymore.
You don't need to re-flash everything if you want to install a new ROM though. Basically, if you're using MAGLDR (hold power button after splaahscreen) then just go to USB Flasher and flash a new ROM. Back up all your stuff with either Titanium Backup or My Backup.

When I first became active, I rooted my phone, I made a recovery off the original recovery rom. I updated to the what my phone says is the unofficial modaco rom v1.3 + an update
+ a theme.... bu then me and my girl split and my recovery images were on a flash device she had. I see some stuff about an updated version of recovery... talk of radio's amongst other things.
I'm assuming I just most likely need to flash back to an original root and then possibly the instructions I need to get the new recovery image as well as the 2.0 stuff on my phone. <--- is this basically what I need to do???

Flash a new recovery....fisrt things first
Then do factory data wipe from recovery.
You should probably reformat your SD card...
Wipe Dalvik....
then flash any of the good ole' zips that are up now..
Personally before I do any more flashing I am waiting on sprint release OR this new "Toasts Awesome Sauce" I see in another thread...if it blows everyone else away speed wise....I hope they got OC working.
Only reason I am waiting for an official sprint is because I am sick of wiping my phone ~ to lazy to back up ~.

You don't have to install the new recovery to flash the 2.x ROM's. However, the new RA 1.6.2 was updated and had some bugs fixed, with also a little more added features, so it's probably worth your time to download and flash.
To flash a 2.x ROM, just do as you did before, find one you think you might like, download it and then copy it to your SD Card, after that its a matter of Nadroid back up and then flashing the new ROM.
thanks for the heads up guys.
I just couldn't be sure if there were things that needed to be changed outside of just flashing the new roms.
Back when i was more active I recall there being some roms that you couldn't flash from but a factory reset will revert me out of my modoca flash so that, that problem doesn't potentially crop up?
Ever since I flashed to WP7, it doesn't allow me to go back to Winmo 6.5, or any other ROM. It says Invalid ID every time I try to update, or change ROMS.
I'm really a noob so, sorry for the trouble guys, help would really be appreciated.
your easiest way would be through flashing a winmo 6.* rom by SD card.
Just extraxt a rom from htc.com and rename the *.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and put that on the root of a (preferably clean) SD-card. Boot into bootloader ( reboot + volume down button) and it will ask you wether you want to flash/install rom from sd-card. ...follow instructions and you are back to base.

Well I've alot of ROMS. I also tried to update MAGLDR v1.12 to v1.13 so I can get android up and running.
I also tried to SD card and it never asked me if I wanted to boot from there...
Sometimes I wonder how people get themselves into this kind of situation...
And also, some hints and tips are kind of "incomplete"...
Maybe you´re basically performing the right steps, but if you get the wrong ID error message, this can have a few reasons:
1) Your device is branded - get the correct operator branded stock ROM
2) Your device is localized (Europe, Asia, Australia, US) - get the correct ROM for your area
Since you have HSPL on your device, it is not necessary to flash via SD card to go back to WinMo 6.5. You could actually put your HD2 into the standard bootloader mode, plug it to the PC via USB cable, and flash using the RUU tool you prefer (either stock or custom ROM).
If you want to flash an Android NAND, the procedure is slightly different, but I won´t go into this at this stage...

You will firstly need to work out what is set up on your device. Are you running Windows Mobile 6.5 first and then starting Android from the SD card (this is how we all did it before MAGLDR and CLK came along).
Once you have found what you have - you will want to use NAND booting - either use the CLK or MAGLDR method for putting on ROM images. I personally use the MAGLDR method with CWM (Clock Work Mod).
From scratch you will want to do this -- A Clean Install MAGLDR/CWM:
1. Task 29
2. Flash Radio (2.15 Recommended)
3. MAGLDR 1.13
4. MAGLDR 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5)
Now step 4 can get kind of involved as the partition you need to put on your device can be somewhat dependent on the ROM image that your are going to load.
Step 5.
Choose a ROM image. Put the ROM image on the SD card.
Reboot your device. Hold down the power button until you get to the menu. Choose "AD Recovery" option. This will take you into the Clock work MOD recovery console. Once here you follow the instructions to flash your ROM on to your device.
Somebody clever has bult a program for automating a lot of steps 1-4:
Check it out:
[23 Jun 2011][v4.1] HD2 NAND Toolkit - Toolkit for HD2 Users [Source Released]
Choosing a ROM image
You have lots of options:
Base GingerBread ROM Image
[03.Aug.2011][MAG/cLK] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.9 (GRJ90 / Android 2.3.5) [tytung_r10]
CM7 ROM Image
I really like the CyanogeMod changes. They really add a lot of value to the stock gingerbread.
I use this one [Daily] MAGLDR / cLK Cyanogen Nightlies 2.3.5 [kernel: charnsingh_online latest]
[09.AUG.11][MAG/cLK] TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.5.7[2.3.5][A2SD][tytung r10]
And many others ....Don't forget to do a lot of reading before you start. And backup your precious data.

This is exactly why we have a search button aswell as sticky topics. Do you honestly think that you are the first person to ask these 100% exact same questions?
It would also be a good idea to watch this OFFICIAL XDA video as its designed specifically for this situation!
Please I need Help
first I'm New on HTC
I bought HTC HD2
It's Has Android 2.2 But with too many bugs and hangging
I need to Upgrade but i dont know how , I'm Familiar with sonyericsson and now did'nt understand from this fourm
Please i need help by baby step and what is the best nand or sd card
please can any one help me?!?!?!?!
How did you manage to get Froyo running without knowing how to upgrade?...
Anw you can check out this HD2 toolkit thing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
that makes everything just as user friendly as it can get. To get your HD2 working on a new ROM, you need to:
1. Flash HSPL
2. Flash radio to 2.15.xxx, unless your radio is 2.15.xx already...
3. Install Magldr/cLK (You'll need some drivers from Android SDK to install cLK, so I suggest just go for Magldr)
4. Install Clockworkmod Recovery
5. Choose a ROM (XD XD)
6. Flash the ROM using CWM (every ROM is different, so follow instructions on the ROM page)
It's also advisable that you perform Task 29 (wipe) before installing a new ROM, to avoid any force close issues.
Btw, the HD2 rarely hangs, and if yours does so quite often you should be suspecting that the hardware is a bit screwy, and it's time for repairs...
really thnk you for your help
i'm familiar with sony ericsson and know little about android and need rom more than 2.2
but please all i need from you to advice me that i use sd card method or nand?!?!?wich better?!?!
I think you bought your HD2 with Android?
The HD2 has normally Windows Mobile 6.5.
If you wanna use WM6.5 AND Android (to switch between WM and Android), you should use an SD Build.
If you just wanna have Android as your main OS, you should use a NAND Build (recommended).
How to install NAND Builds is described in the Threads of the NAND build you wanna have.
Hi guys,
So, a long time ago a friend of mine put Android on my old HTC HD2, I've never really used it. But now, I need to use it and this ROM and stuffs sucks. I would like to unroot it, root it again, flash a new ROM and stuffs but I don't know how!
I'm totally lost with this HTC HD2. The actual ROM right now is a piece of s**t. I tried to Install an OpenRecoveryScript via GooManager it says that there isn't a recovery available for this device. I tried to reboot into recovery via ROM Manager and GooManager but it just simply boot the phone.
I can't go in recovery, I can't do anything, I've tried. Please help me!
Thank you so much!

Maybe you could have tried searching? The HD2 isn't a native Android phone, those things don't work. To get into recovery turn the phone off, long press power then use the volume keys and call button to select 8. AD Recovery in MAGLDR. You may need to change the partition size though, so to do that you can follow the guide in my sig. While I recommend you don't bother doing so, if you insist on wiping and starting afresh then just flash Task29 and again follow the guide in my sig. If you're not sure about what half of these terms mean then check out the guide to the terms in my sig.
Something similar happened to me some time ago. I think the best was is to factory restore the phone by downloading the original Windows 6.5 ROM to the SD card, reflashing it and then to start all over - upgrading radio, installing MAGLDR, etc.
