[Q] Weird update? - Focus General
Hi All,
Just had a strange experience with my Focus. After being initially notified of the Feb update a few weeks ago (I aborted it half-way through as it got stuck), my phone then told me no update was available. Today I plugged it into my PC and it told me an update was now available. I tried to do this a few times and it went through all the steps, but at the end Zune returned an error code (80007B54) and told me the update could not be completed. Anyone know what this means? Is there a problem with my phone, the update, or Zune / my PC? I'm confused...
Sorry - got the error code wrong. It was 800705B4.
One issue has been free space on your computer. Make sure you have copious amounts available.
Thanks for the reply. I have about 300GB free on my hard drive, so I doubt that's the problem. Anything else? The phone itself has about 1GB free...

The solution for some seems to be to make sure you have at least 4GB of free space on the phone.

try to free some space, removing music or videos...
Free Space
I have about 17GB on the phone but only 8GB on the PC. Anyone know if this is enough on the PC? Haven't seen any actually requirement numbers for the PC.
Ive run into the same wall, I have 4.67 gb free on my phone and 230 gb on my computer, it still wont successfully update this is a gong show, I hope that when NoDo comes out they have this solved
I would assume it is because you started it previously. I bet the only solution will be a hard reset.
Hi All,
So, after clearing lots of space on my phone (had 5gb free at the end), still no luck (update failed many times), I factory reset the phone, and it then updated with no problems at all. I wonder whether part of the problem might be with some of the installed apps, or that there is some corruption issue? Anyone have ideas? Would prefer not to have to go through this again when NoDo drops...
Just wondering if any of the problems with the update could be due to those who added a micro sd card into their phone. Seems coincidental/logical since the focus is the only windows phone 7 device that has a micro sd slot.
Post Update Specs?
What are the revision numbers after an update on the About Screen?
I've currently got:
OS version: 7.0.7004.0
Firmware revision number: 2103.10.10.1
Hardware revision number: 3.1.0.7
Radio software version: 2103.10.10.1
Radio hardware version: 0.0.0.3
Bootloader version: 4.10.0.1
Chip SOC version: 0.36.2.0
PS: I just got a new replacement phone today due to text messages not coming in, and would like to know if it already has the update installed.
Thank you in advance, SuperSport

I checked for an update via the Zune softare with my Focus plugged into the laptop and it said it was on the latest release. But the OS version is 7.0.7004.0 ... which looks to not be the updated version based on the previous post.
I do have a SD card installed. I'll wait a few more days and see what happens. I'd prefer not to hard reset the phone, but may not have a choice.
Hard Reset????

Why do you feel you might have to hard reset the phone?

Since I just got my phone replaced, I tried Hard Resetting a number of times, but still no update. I figure it's the way it's being Rolled Out. I'm not near the beginning of the rollout cycle. I'll wait, and I'm sure it will arrive in due time.

I'm not sure about the timing, but I have 2 phones (mine and my wife's) that were purchased day one back in October 2010. If there's any kind of 'timing', I would think I would be one of the earlier ones to be in the update queue if that's how they are determining the update queue.
I think about the 'hard reset' when it comes to the SD card being in the phone. Not really certain, just thinking out loud that since I put in a 32GB SD card on day one, that I would need to hard reset because of the way that the OS is sharing the internal and external memory.
The only bad experience I have had with the SD card ... and I attribute this to the SD card and not the internal storage rightly or wrongly ... is that on some music and videos but not all, it starts getting choppy in the playback. I only notice it on music at the end of songs ... like the last few seconds. But on videos, I notice it earlier in the movie than the last few minutes. Anyway, it's just me thinking about the need for a hard reset because of the use of the SD card from day one.

[Q] Downgrade ROM 7392
Hi, I have laid my hands on a HTC Trophy and I would like to chevron7 unlock so I make make some registry changes. However, I am currently on the the latest ROM which is 7392 From what I have read, I need to downgrade to 7004 and then I can do the chevron cert unlock. Unfortunately I haven't managed to find any tutorials or guide for this and dont want to end up with a brick. Can anyone assist me or point me in the right direction? Phone Details: Carrier : Vodafone NZ OS Version: 7.0.7392.0 Firmware revision number: 2250.09.12000.179 Hardware revision number: 0003 Radio software version: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U Radio Hardware version:A.102.0.D4 Bootloader version: 1.20.2250.0(117833) Thanks in advance. When you upgraded your phone to 7392 you automatically created a Backup with Zune. The Backup can be found somewhere at: C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\2cb49707 - da54f4ef - ab0d6f87 - 9d2bc573\RestorePoint. So to restore your backup - connect your phone - open Zune - click "settings" - phone - Updates - there you should find the restore option. HTH

However, i ended up just flashing a custom rom and it did the same thing. Now all unlocked. Cheers
Trophy Rom hwere did you find the custom ROM can you please give me link
I managed to downgrade my Trophy from 7392 using the following method: 1. Download the relevant ROM, I used the oldest Vodafone one listed in the development section of the Trophy forum. 2. Disconnect from the PC if it is then turn the device off. 3. Hold the volume down button and then hold the power button unitl the boot loader screen appears. You'll know what it is as it's multi coloured. 4. Now connect it to your PC and Windows should detect it as an HTC USB Sync device. 5. Run the ROM package you downloaded earlier and follow the instructions. You will be erasing all data on the phone. 6. Updater should run! These are only the steps that worked for me so I can't guarrentee it will work for anyone else. Hope this helps some people.

Omnia 7 shuts down by it self
My omnia 7 shuts down all the time.. i don't know what the issue is. I have hard reset the phone a couple of times. It happens very often when charging. As soon as the screen turns off, 1 or 2 minutes later, it comes back on again, says "Goodbye" and phone swithces off and then restarts. I then have to insert the sim code again. I had Mango installed and tried to turn off 3G in the diagnostics "app", by choosing GSM 800/1900 i think it was. It was then it started behaving weird, and restarting. I have since reverted it back to Automatic in the diagnostic window, gone back to NoDo, and done a hard reset. Done some more testing. If the sim card is removed, all is normal. it charges, and everything is fine. As soon as sim card is inserted it starts shutting down all the time. i have also tried having the sim card inserted, and click cancel when asked for sim. still it restarts. will the diagnostic changes have been reverted once i hardreset? Have you try this : http://www.samsung.com/no/consumer/...NEE/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support I had the same problem a few month ago. It seems that firmware upgrade have resolve the problem for me
Dear dada051. Thanks for reply. I went to the link. But is it the "Kies" i should install, or the patch? the patch is for installing NoDo? I already have it installed. But my firmware might be old. I believe the new one is KC1? I have JK1 out of the box i believe. Please help me..
Forget the "Kies" software. You should install http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_NO&CttFileID=4048024&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=GT-I8700&VPath=SW/201105/20110524101224996/Device_Update_Support_Tool_for_OMNIA7_KC3_Ver1.2.exe (it's the direct link to the firmware updating software, v KC3) If you use the first link i've post, you'll find the second link in the "Programvare" section
I have tried this now. It went to download mode, the program did something, and the phone restarted. Zune says that the software is up to date, as i have NoDo already. The firmware revision and radio version did not change. still the same as mentioned over. Should i install a new ROM?
If you don't have the diagnosis app : dial ##634# It create a link in your app list to disagnosis and launch it. If you have the diagnosis app, launch it. type *#1234# to display the firmware version if it's not : PDA: xxxxxxxKC1 Phone: xxxxxxxKB2 CSC: xxxxxxxxJK1 you have to install the ROM KC1 that you can find here http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i8700.htm (you need to be registred). You will find any help you need to update your firmware in this site. I can help you tomorow if you need. THE FIRMWARE UPDATE WILL ERASE ALL DATAS IN YOUR PHONE!! My Phone : KC1/KB2/JK1 Firwmware : 2424.11.3.1 Radio software : 2424.11.2.2 bootloader : 5.3.0.4
Ok. i have now flashed to KC1. Firmware: 242411.3.1 Hardware: 3.15.0.4 Radio software: 2424.11.2.2 Bootloader 5.3.0.4 And the phone has finally settled. I have installed mango beta again, and i am charging the phone right now, and since the flash yesterday, no shutdowns. Love my new omnia 7. yesterday, i was about to throw it away and go back to my iPhone 4.
I noticed some varius bugs happeing after some short time after you bought the phone. Pulling the battery and letting it lay around a short while seems to fix it, and never returns again after that. Wery strange, but not sure that would have helped you, just saying that wierd things seems to happen with new Omnia 7 phones that with battery removment seems to fix the most.
Could be the same issue i had. I also removed the battery, and then inserted the battery again, also hardreset and flashing of KC1 firmware. No longer sure what fixed the problem

Thanks god, that I never had any problems with my omnia.
New VZW Trophy w/OS version 7.0.7389.0 not updating
Just unboxed a Verizon Trophy today. Activated on the Network successfully. Phone is running the following Windows Phone Version OS Version: 7.0.7389.0 Firmware Revision Number: 2305.06.10322.605 Hardware Revision Number: 003 Radio Hardware Version: 1.52.00.03.28_23.15w.05.06U Bootloader version: 1.3.230506.23 Chip SOC version: 2.3.0.5.6 The phone is saying no updates found. Zune software did not update on initial connection. When trying to manually update via Zune Software 4.8 the following error appears. "Can't check for updates right now. Please try again later. We couldn't connect to the update service. Disconnect and reconnect your phone, then try installing the update again. 80072EE7" This error has occurred on three separate computers including a fresh install. While this device is brand new it's no longer under warranty. Any Ideas? Verizon, HTC, and Microsoft have no clue whats going on.
Screw that, you have two options. SPL hack, custom rom. Read my guide here to find out how! Benefits: Full unlock, run stuff like Opera! Internet sharing enabled! Download the newest rom and flash it. You won't lose any data since you have non to lose. Go to footballs thread here and get "RUU_Spark_W_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.04.605.02_Radio_NV_0215_NV58008_RELEASE.exe". Sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier, but I hope this helps. I'd just do a full unlock. :/ Having the shipping rom and the 1.03 bootloader (you should), you should be able to unlock very easily.
Sorry, double post... lost internet during first post. Please delete.
Trophy Bootloader 1.3.230506.10 issue?
I recently bought a used Verizon HTC Trophy. I registered it on Verizon and it works fine, both voice and data. I suspect it may have been a developer phone. If it is I don't mind, but I do mind that I cannot update it using Zune. It keeps telling me that an Update is available (Mango), but when I try to update via Zune it fails with error 80180048. The phone particulars are as follows: OS version 7.0.7403.0 Firmware revision number 2305.06.10310.605 Hardware revision number 0003 Radio software version 1.52.00.01.16_23.13w.05.06U Radio hardware version 3.2.3.D4 Bootloader version 1.3.230506.10 Chip SOC 2.3.0.5.6 The phone also has the following apps installed, which is why I think it may be a developer device. zGestureBester zSensorView zServiceTools zStartKIGL Finally, when I turn the phone on it shows the bootloader version and the modem version in the uper left corner of the HTC splash screen. I am wondering if the bootloader version (or firmware version) is keeping me from upgrading. I took a look around the internet and did not see any references to the .10 version of the bootloader, but I did see post which mentioned that the wrong bootloader can mess up Zune updates. My preference would be to revert to a simple consumer phone, but at a minimum I'd at least like to be able to get the Mango and HTC radio updates onto the phone. Any suggestions would me much appreciated, and sorry for the noob post. Thanks
[Q] 32gb won't update to 4.1.2
I have the following 32gb Nexus-7. Model - ME370T with Android 4.1.1. Build no - JRO03S. The tablet works perfectly, however I have made several attempts to update the software to the new version (4.1.2) but to no avail. I go through the software update procedure, but unfortunately when the software tries to update I get the Android icon lying horizontally with a red exclamation mark which lasts for 5 minutes before the tablet resets itself. When logging back in the software is still on version. 4.1.1. I have factory reset the tablet on several occasions and I cannot get version 4.1.2 to install at all. Can anyone offer their advice as to whether this is a fault that requires a return to the store for a replacement? Or should I wait on version 4.2 coming out first then trying the newer update? As I've noticed that the new 32gb model has a different build number compared to its predecessors. Many thanks in advance.
