Greetz all,
I've noticed there're different baseband versions, so far I've seen only two versions :
1.ending with 06
2.ending with 15
I haven't seen any reports of problems with particular version, on my device I have the v1, and it seems to work for all the roms.
If someone has info about this subj. please post in comments.
Also, if your baseband is neither 1 or 2 listed, please post complete baseband version and list of updates done to the phone.
I am not sure if this is the cause, but I still have a problem with voice quality over Bluetooth connection in a car.
The device in question is Becker Cascade Pro.
The sound is "bubbly" and very distorted, hardly usable.
I had this same problem with HTC Hero firmware 1.5, and it disappeared after upgrading to 2.1-r1, but in X8 the problem remains even on Gingerbread and any other roms.
Anybody has a similar problem?
Solutions ?
I think everyone's baseband begins with: "M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404xyz" <- yes, XX exactly, they don't represent something else, and last xyz are three numbers...
I have 015.
Updates: first flashed 1.6 FW when updating to 2.1 via deleting /system method.
Later, flashed 2.1 via FlashTool.
Then again some 1.6 and again 2.1, then updated via SEUS to latest 2.1.1.A.0.6
I think baseband is in amss files, because I've read somewhere that unlock solution could be patching amss - and simlock should be related to radio, right?

Why? Right now I've checked, every baseband version DO begin as I said, and it's in related to AMSS, AMSS_FS, FOTA0, FOTA1 and KERNEL files.
And I'm uploading them for download, check in baseband collection thread

If somebody with an X10a has already updated, please share if you got it straight from SEUS/PC Companion or by changing to a Nordic 1.6 first, and then updated to Nordic Android 2.1
A "Yes I just got 2.1" is now what we expect:
Please share as much info as possible

[EDIT NOV 04, 2010]
NAM 3G bands: CONFIRMED WORKING
Overwhelming feedback confirms both currently released Android 2.1 firmwares (Nordic and Global) DO WORK for the X10a.
jerpelea suggests Sony Ericcson may have unified the bands because the X10i firmware works on the X10a, 3G and all.
ENGLISH, SPANISH, PORTUGUES languages: CONFIRMED PRESENT
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824935
Released firmwares tested to date by xda-devs users:
- Nordic region Android 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Global international Andoird 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Notice: some users (espcially Rogers Canada) are reporting problems with 3G speeds (check next pages of this thread)
Where to obtain instructions and the Android 2.1 update firmware:
- 2.1 firmware "Nordic" and flasher by Bin4ry: (this is the one I used, a nice tutorial by user gfgodoy at post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
- 2.1 firmware "Global" and flasher by jerpelea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
- 2.1 firmware "Gobal" and flasher by MarylandCookie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
TIPS:
- Charge your phone, at least 50% prior to updating the firmware
- Extract the flashing tool into a folder in your root directory ("C:\")
- Make sure you put the firmware files into it ("C:\X10Flash-2.1\firmware")
- Make sure you have "SEUS" or "PC Companion" installed and you have connected your phone at least once (for it to install the USB drivers)
- For problems ("unable to open channel", "Exception in *** java", etc) plase check this nice thread by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115
THE UPGRADE IS REVERSIBLE:
- If you test Android 2.1 and for some reason want to go back to Android 1.6 please check this thread by SaintyUK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824782

nobody yet ??
2.1 for x10a can be found in Dev thread. I'd do it but at work blah. Another 9 hours till home
Well, I will wait until TELCEL or Sony Ericsson México says something about the date of the release of the 2.1 update, if they don't say nothing or the date is about a month or later, I will use other methods...
could you please link ??
I can't seem to find a successful attempt
and all of our efforts are fragmentated into many threads
I just installed the X10i 2.1 on my x10a and rooted. It works fine except it occasionally loses 3g connectivity and steps down to the 'H' (I don't know what H means). But even in 'H' data works.
The big difference I noticed was the different apps loaded faster. But overall the system is still sluggish and bringing up the app menu is choppier than before. All the Sony stuff like Dialer, Mediscape, timescape are still choppy.
So I guess you will expect this on the x10a roms too.

Yep it worked flawlessly. The Market that shows up for me is the Canadian one and it even gave me the option to run using English (Canada). So I guess that stuff does not depend on the rom.
You just have to make sure everything you need to flash is installed and running. Most people have problems with java but there is a link in there that tells you how to fix it.
Then I used this to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788
Information for default.prop & build.prop
I remember seeing information about changing the Build descriptors on both of theses files - Where you cahnge the values:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
Mine is running Generic LAM - 1227-4607
What is the build.prop number for Generic North America - Generic NAM???
Thanks for sharing experiences
Will go for it myself and update the front post when double-checked
I'm interested in how it works as well. I own an X10a, but I live in Europe, so I'm wondering if it would matter anyway. The smartest move would probably be to wait, but if it's going to be a matter of weeks instead of days, I may jump on the X10i update methods.
I have debranded X10a and rooted 1.6. I read your tutorial on forum. Just a question is this for X10a? Would my phone change to X10a or x10i? Is there any chance to brick the phone? Does it removes all the apps? And my root? Please let me know thanks
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
It works great for my X10a from Brazil.
Thanks everyone that made this possible.
Can't wait to give it a shot. Off work in 4 and a half hours and it could come soon enough!! LOL
Does this firmware includes SPANISH language????
Just want to mention that I too have updated my X10a using the methods described above (just follow the directions in post #3 of the 2.1 flashing thread).
I have tested, and root worked (have already restored many of my apps via Titanium and am posting this on my laptop tethered via Barnacle). Market works too, and appears to be displaying the Canadian market for me properly.
Thanks for the info everyone.

Is your 3G connection working fine?
Hi,
my X8 doesn't upgrade to 2.1. I rooted the phone, following the procedure and tried severel customization code but nothing to do. SEUS answers that there is no update available for my phone.
Now, my X8 is a protype, it has the following values:
ro.semc.version.cust=20100831161743
ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R1A
Can someone tell me if I can update to 2.1?
What does exactly mean revision=R1A? Is the problem related to the revision and can I update the revision to a new version?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Roberto
Would you like me to send you the build.prop file I used to upgrade my phone? It should work then.
Edit: Note when I upgraded my phone, I also took the sim out.
I tried with the SIM out with no success.
I going to send you a PM with my email for your build.prop. Thanks a lot.
Roberto
Having the same problem
Hi Guys,
I recently got Xperia X8, and I want to install Android 2.1 so I can use Wireless Tethering. But I can't upgrade my phone. It's not yet due for the 2.1.
Here are some info of my phone that might be helpful:
Model Number - E15i
Firmware - 1.6
Baseband version - unknown
Kernel Version - 2.6.29 / [email protected] #1
Build Number - 1.3.A.0.62
I have tried all four apps/software from this list and none works! =(

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advanced,
~mark
use the 2.1 global and flasher
maybe this helps.

About an hour ago I got message that there is an update for my phone. It is HTC Update, not MS one (I already had NODO). It updated my Firmware and Bootloader to latest versions. I already had latest Radio, so I do not know is it also contain latest Radio, but it should.
My previous information:
OS: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware: 2550.09.10908.401
Radio: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
Bootloader: haven't wrote version, but it was somthing like (114xxx)
UNLOCKED before NODO update
My new information:
OS: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware: 2550.09.12000.401
Radio: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
Bootloader: 1.20.2250.0(117833)
STILL UNLOCKED!
where
where did you get the update?
was it a message on the phone???
thx
Have yet to receive that update on my Vodafone Trophy, but found this insteresting piece of news related to the HTC update:
http://wmpoweruser.com/has-the-htc-update-caused-some-windows-phones-to-go-16-bit/
Santi writes us about a new complaint about a pretty undesirable side-effect of the recent HTC Windows Phone 7 update. He notes some HTC users are reporting color banding/16bit color across the entire OS after the NoDo and/or yesterday’s update.
He notes it seems mainly related to the new firmware FW 2250.09.11001 and FW 2250.09.12000, with the OS version making no difference and is present on the HTC 7 Trophy and also HTC HD7.
Santi has some more pictures of the banding issue which results in his dropbox account here.
To check if your phone is affected, download this image and view it in the Pictures and Videos hub. it should display without banding.

Yes I get message on the phone. Then I connected to Zune and update.
I was curious to see what will happen if user doesn't have latest Radio, so I flashed my phone with older release of ansar's ROM (7004 OS with 5.52 Radio). I know that someone will ask that once, and I had a little free time.
First I got notification about February update and clicked install later.
I unlocked my phone and installed patch to prevent relocking. Then I installed February update.
Immediately after that I got March update notification but there was also a notice about HTC Update, so I got BOTH NODO and latest HTC update AT ONCE. This update takes VERY LONG (40 minutes maybe), and I do not count download time there.
Result is same:
OS: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware: 2550.09.12000.401
Radio: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
Bootloader: 1.20.2250.0(117833)
It looks like I got the firmware-update too, when I got my march update from ms...
But I dont see a difference :S

My phone is Vodafone DE (unbranded with ansar's ROM).
I downloaded this image, converted that image to JPG (for some reason I can not add PNG to my phone via Zune ?!).
I also downloaded image from here, and cut off the left part, and left only original image.
I can see that my phone is 16bit now (why I have a feeling that I will restore old ROM to see was it 24bit earlier? ), but on my phone picture of that girl looks MUCH BETTER than on part I cut off.
Strange!
Just thought I'd say... Just updated my Trophy to Firmware: 2550.09.12000.707

i believe you get sim network unlock pin when you put a sim card form another network in to a network locked phone, i would try a repair from SE's pc companion
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ed/pccompanion/1.689743/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
that's the link if you don't have it already.
if that doesn't work you could try another sim card or take it back to the shop were you got it from.
Thats the weird part because i never changed my own sim card.
Try to repair what using pc companion?
You changed baseband via flashtool, didn't you? Well, basebands are compilation and version dependant. This means that you need to flash baseband that is compatible with your ROM version (in case of 015 it should probably be at least 2.1.1.A.0.6) and with your device, namely E15a or E15i.

The problem is that i don't really understand what baseband is. So i'm asking if flashing baseband (paired with the correct rom version) can give me network problems.

Baseband is the subsystem of the phone that controls radio communications.
Network problems you have if only you have flashed E15i's baseband version on an E15a (or the opposite). Correct me if I'm wrong..

Thanks. I solved the problem.
I flashed and e15i firmware, so i was having trouble with zones using the 2100 band that is not used in the e15i.
