[Q] Cyanogen mod 7 HD2 ran out of battery.... - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey Guys,
So flashed my phone with the cyanogen mod 7 2.4.1 and has been working great.
Yesterday arvo it ran out of battery and shut down, however it has enough battery that it can boot, but seems to get stuck at the little android man stage.
Ive tried alot of methods mentioned in a wp7 thread, however none have helped.
Is there anyway im going to be able to boot into my old rom or is it a matter of reflashing?
Its weird, cause it doesnt run out and then shut down, it just sits at the little android man...
Any help would be appreciated .
Cheers
Alex

So the battery is all good. It will just stay on the android booting stage, and not run out of battery, or reboot. Well sounds like you data got corrupted so you might need to reflash.

ugghh, corrupted just because it ran out of battery?
sigh
Well, im going to try one last thing- leaving it charge on tri colour screen for a few hours and then try booting. If that doesnt work ill reflash
note to self- set titanium backup up to do routine backups!!

Just reflash it. It only takes a couple of minutes, especially if you've got a nandroid backup. Running the battery down shouldn't corrupt the image. I've run mine down to 0 a few times without this happening.

but i cant reflash without losing all my msgs etc. can i?
thats the only reason im trying to save it.

CyanogenMod battery drain
Hi all,
has someone noticed that CyanogenMod 7 on HD2 drains battery ?!
Someone can tell me how to fix it ?!
Thanks.

actually cyanogen mod 7 drains my battery way more slowly than any deshd build i have tried before CM7. One charge lasts for like two days or so. All deshd builds usually had a battery runtime of less than a day for me.

Using SetCpu, and setting up profiles has helped for me. Also, I noticed that the first couple of days, I had high battery drain, but once everything settled, the battery drains settled. I also use system panel which will tell you what apps are eating up the most power. If I notice that an app is hogging resources, then I'll uninstall, especially is it's something that I rarely use or don't need.

Ok for me. I simply restart my sd gingerbread androïd. And my android consums only 6mA in sleeping mode.
Hope it helps

Rebooting every day...

Hi guys.
I don´t really know what´s going on with my LEO
Since I got android on it, it goes off at least once per day suddenly...
I´ve changed ROM´s, I tried 5 different ones, (now I got chuckydoid), format the SD card (eaven I changed it for another one) but still doing it again and again.
What coul be the problem?
It could be the build you are using or some app you installed in Android

does it get hot before it reboots, are you using an overclocked kernel?
Temperature is normal, I have a non overclocked build.
It happens to me with every build, but I thinking that maybe it is an aplication I installed last days...Do you have any problems with "whats app"?
Keep in mind what type of apps you're install and using to find the culprit. Also, try to keep apps to a minimum to see if it helps.
Another thing. Please describe what you were doing when it shuts off. Were you online? Listening to music? What was your battery status?
The battery in Android is not fully calibrated. For example, mine will shut off at 10% almost all the time. When I power it back on, winMO will list the battery as >1%.
The other way round for me....
since I am using Android on my Leo I don't have to reboot any more!!
The other day I ran our of battery and it was weird to see WM again!!
I use FroyoStone Sense -just incase it helps-.

Serious battery drain with minimum usage

Hi all,
The battery life of my 4month old SGS is becoming shorter every week! I can 'almost' last a work day (8 hours) with a fully charged battery and minimal use.
I had this problem also on the stock firmware, Darky's rom 8.x was a slight improvement (much faster tho!), Light-ning rom and Darky's rom 9.x.
Everyday I charge my battery untill it is full, when my alarm goes off it's already at 98% (it's still hooked up). When I'm in the train to school, my battery already dropped around 86% (being idle). I check some mobile websites, my e-mail and read some twitter messages.
Because I know services as Twitter (I'm using Tweetdeck) uses alot of resources and battery, so when I'm done looking I always shut down those programs. And I often do an 'end all' task in the 'System' app which I purchased from the market lately to monitor my battery.
During the day the only thing I do is check my mail and some websites, but not for long, mostly it would be around 5minutes or so. So WiFi is turned OFF, GPS is turned OFF, and only GMail synchronizes with default settings. So what's the deal? Is my battery slowly dieing because of oldness, or is there another problem?
Thanks in advance for helping me! You're doing a great job!
Sincerely yours,
S1GNZ
after flashing your custom roms of choice... did you ever do a battery calibration?
like let your phone drain till it dies on its own... turn it on againa nd let it die again to completely drain it to the point where u cant even turn it on.
Then plug your phone in to charge and let it charge to 100%. Keeping the phone plugged in turn on your phone into recovery. Then clear battery status.
Then reboot your phone into normal mode and let it continue charging till it says 100%. WHen you unplug your phone it SHOULD say 100% still.
This normally fix the problem but if you notice that your phone is dying quickly still then PM me.
One small advice, try logging out google talk,of-course if you are not on it much,it will give you at least 2-3 hrs more.
Also, there is already a thread active on this forum 'dont kill your phone
,give it a life' give that a read.
Mainly this battery drains are there because of apps doing sync. or polling.identify them and adjust settings.

I've been browsing these forums lately, and I've also come across a thread which advice is just the opposite and that you should NOT do this, any advice if that's true? And is it also true that deleting the batterystats helps?

Am I auto-logged in on Google talk? If so, how do I log myself out :$? So Google sync might drain it? (Mail, Agenda, Contacts?)
Thanks for the quick replies! I really appreciate it!

I am not 100% sure if you auto logged or not.I believe not but if not so , then open app, press menu/setting button on phone, select logout.also if you not intending to use data network, press power key till you see a menu turn off, data network, turn it on when you need it.These small things saves some power.
If you dont want to mess around with this little twiks then 'juice plotter' is the app for you.it will manage lots of things and defi. saves battery.
BTW based on your usage desc., I think I use it in similar way ...almost and yet phone makes ~2 days.

You of course wouldn't be doing this alot nor should you NEED to do this often. It's only something you do when you're experiencing what you currently are.
Personally I have no idea why anyone say u "Should NOT" do this.. it's not like you're altering anything hardware wise. It's mainly software and power usage aspects.
Like I said to each their own. Some people say custom roms are a "No-No" cuz it messes with the phone in more bads than good and some says stock roms are for noobs. You dont HAVE to try what I said, it's merely a suggestion of fix or methods that seems to solve the problems others have encountered.
Clearing the battery status pretty much resets it's counter to 100% and from there it will "calculate" the life of the battery from full to empty. It's a calibration thing.
Now on regards to usage, keep your data plan off and auto-sync off when you're not using it. Leave your wifi off and gps off as well.. pretty much keep anything you dont need off until you need it. Some samsung apps does a background run thing where it'll auto turn on and auto run in the background which drains ur battery quite badly. If you don't use goggle talk or samsung chat apps, there are many ways to remove them completely so it won't mess with your battery life
Simple you installed a rom with multiple posts on battery drain problem .
A rom that also tells you about battery drain problems /fix on its front page .

Okay! And you're right, it logs me on when I start the app. But I logged me out, just to be sure. I know about turning of the mobile data traffic, I'll see how much it saves. I think I came across juice plotter, but I'll look into it. Thanks!

Don't be offended by what I said! . I only wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing, I appreciate your criticism though. I did what you said and fully drained my battery yesterday, kept it charging overnight, cleared the batterystats through recovery mode and at the moment it's charging till 100%. I will see if it helps!
And according to my usage, I have Wifi and GPS turned of as default. And because I reinstalled a new ROM inclusive data wipe I don't have much chat apps installed, maybe there are some default apps that don't show up in the 'System panel' app though?

Care to explain a bit further?
FYI, I installed these ROMS:
past: Stock firmware 2.2.1
past: Darky's ROM v8.0 Gingerbread edition
past: Light-ning ROM 2.2 (if I'm correct, it's probably the latest)
current: Darky's ROM v9.2 Extreme edition (9.2 should've fixed the battery drain, am I right?)
Can't thank you enough for the replies!
Sincerely yours,
S1GNZ
im having similar problems too. calibrating doesnt really make a difference.
i installed an app called task identifier which is brilliant it tell me whats happening when the phone is asleep. the only trouble is i dont understand what these processes are so i cant disable them.... is there any sort of app out there that completely logs / signs you out of every app ??
i have 108 apps (not including system apps) and its hard trying to eliminate the battery drainers
Care to explain a bit further?
As it says post lots of with battery problems big big percentage running Darky rom .
current: Darky's ROM v9.2 Extreme edition (9.2 should've fixed the battery drain, am I right?) You would have to ask on dARKY Post .
Look at Battery drain thread LAST POST OR SO MAY BE OF INTEREST .
I am of the opinion that if a rom breaks something then installing more roms will often not fix the problem . I prefer a blank completely wiped phone in such cases with no trace of any rom left on it .
jje
@azzledazzle 108 apps? really ????
I don't have that much on my PC!
I think we should start narrowing down which apps drain most juice. I've been using Advanced Task Killer just to narrow down a couple.
example:
Sound Hound - starts on its own
Facebook had an issue with notifications push, when disabled, it still sent notifications to my phone. But I think they fixed it in the latest version.
We could start adding versions to know which app is a 'juice drainer'

HD2 HUGE BATTERY DRAIN 1% every 1 minute

Hi my hd2 is on a stock windows mobile rom and has a huge battery drain, every 1 minute or so i lose 1% of my battery and even on standby its the same.
Please can anyone help!!!! I have just flashed a stock rom from sd and have nothing on it and it still does it!
did you flash another radio rom? battery performance has a lot to do with it.
formatting your sd card could also help.
I've tried formatting my sd card and have tried flashing many radio roms right now im on the latest one (2.15...) and still it does it.
well the latest doesn't mean that it's the best for you. it depends on your carrier and area. but this wouldn't result in such a high battery drain.
sorry i can't help you then. i would try to make a freash install with task 29 and everything and if it's still not better try another battery.
Ive tried everything..no one knows anything about it
Thanks anyways
Would appreciate if anyone else has this problem too?
Sounds more like your battery is on the way out. Do you have another you could test?
Yupp, i have 3 standard htc batterys and 2 of them are brand new and still it happens
You did not say how long you have had the HD2, whether this problem has occurred from the beginning, or had just recently started. If it's been that way from the time you got it, it needs to go back to the vendor/seller for replacement. If it has suddenly started, what has changed? Other recent threads here note that a change in GMail was causing problems with high CPU levels and fast battery drain. I believe you said in one response that two of your three batteries have this problem. I assume that one of the batteries does not. If so, it sounds like bad batteries.
Sorry i meant to say that every battery that i try, it still has the problem. And also i brought this phone (used) with no problems and i put android on it, one day it turned extremely hot whilst i put it on charge, then what used to happen was whenever i left my phone on standby (screen off) my phone would switch off. But then i changed my charger cable and that problem was fixed but now i have this problem.
In that case could be the cable not supplying enough charge to the battery, or the phone reading battery stats incorrectly. Other than that I'm at a loss.
Tried everything :/
Thanks anyways I guess its just time for the bin :/

Are you using Gmail? There have been a lot of reports about overheating and battery drain from gmail accounts. Evidently there was some change in the way Google handles their accounts.
Nope, not using gmail
theres nothing on my rom as i just flashed it.
if you flashed it new and the problems started at this point you can try to wipe the battery stats in cwm. don't really now what exactly that does but it's worth a try.

oh right. there was something with windows on this phone ^^ sorry already forgot that.
Hi, did you try the following?
Switch off the phone completely and then remove the battery for approx. 15 to 20 seconds. Then put it in again and start the phone.
When I used this procedure the battery drain was normal again.
BR rainer
tried that still no luck :/
Take out the sim AND sd card. Maybe one of them is going bad.

Which os version are you using?
I've got a solution recently and I've tried it and now my battery drain is normal I've got 5 hours SOT now.
Just shut down your device and boot it by pressing the volume down +power button it will take you to the menu from there you have to select language to English then clear the cache and then reboot your device.
That's it. This solution is from the official oneplus support team.
And I can tell you is working shower fine on my device.
Cheers

i believe it's the google services & location services that kill your battery
pretty common in an un-optimized ROM with stock google play services installed
so, i Second this, Amplify, Powernap & AppOpsXposed do wonder
but also add Greenify to it, paid version offocurse so you can use full xPosed features
6 Hrs ++ SOT and still 15% left... can't ask for more since i would already fall asleep before the phone battery fully depleted, ahahaha
Thanks for the all the suggestions everyone! I'll root my device soon and get to these stuff!
A simple factory reset also does the trick sometimes.

Heavy N4 problems, any suggestions?

So, my phone have been having a lot of heavy problems. This has been going on for a while and i'm not sure what to do. The problems include:
- Extreme laggyness
- Heavy battery drain (2-3 SOT)
- Random reboots
- Random freezes
- Not rebooting
- Only rebooting in recovery
- Dying at 30-40% batt, and bootlooping until I put a new battery (a fully charged one) or charge it
I have tried full wipes, custom ROM's and stock ROM's but nothing seems to work. Atm I'm running stock android 6.0.1.
Is there anyone having the same problems (or have had the same problems) and has any ideas on how to fix it? I have to 3.5 more months until i can get a new phone so it's pretty necessary.
same(ish) issues...
I have the same issues... And I'we also tried "everything" .
I am starting to belive that this has to be some kind of hardware failure... it seems like some use in a way eats up all the memory... I have also tried to stop all background processes, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. The problems happen on all ROMs I'we tried, so it cant be software... But I'm no expert...
One thing that seems to help is not using some google apps, like chrome, and hangouts... When I launched this app it just died right away, but after uninstalling them, it "lives" a bit longer...
glad for any help I can get...

Disable app optimising in battery settings.
Use wake lock from app store and set to level 4.
☆Try a new battery☆
I had every issue you have listed... I replaced the battery with a new official samsung battery and it's been perfect since, not even a single reboot.

Had some ideas about the problem being the battery (I use an external charger) but to me it didn't make sense because I don't see how the battery could influence the software. You only had the problems with the battery or also the other ones (bootloops, lagginess, freezes, strange messages like 'sim card was removed')?
Thanks for your response.

Had all the same issues as you guys. The freezing, lagging, apps crashing and restarting at like 90% then boot looping until plugged on to charge. I tried all solutions, different roms, downgrading, completely stock. Bit it was the battery replacement that solved it finally.

No problem man, I honestly didn't think it would work at first. But I was suprised when It did. It's like a new phone
great!
edit: My most notable change was actually to remove the memcard.... As I'we read about the memcard issues...
It sounds so strange...
I actually tried some stuff for my self... Let debugging run and when it seems to get worked up, I'd just let it lie, I aslo tried tweaking the kernel, so that not so many background processes run at the same time. I'we had it running for about 18 hours straight! Last night I was browsing, installing apps and changing icons and fooling around with settings on 13% battery. Alarm worked this morning, and I'we been using it for more or less as I would use my s6, but a bit more patiently. At about 48% while running Instagram and play music it suddenly crashed. Now its up and running again.
Its still very clear that something isn't right and I will look into your battery solution...
Thax alot for you contribution! :good:

Here what I have done !
Hi dear !
I were facing this problem a month ago as my
phone gets reboot randomly as well as
shutting down by it self at 60 % !!!
Can you imagine that !
What I have done dear that I changed my
' class 4 ' microSD card to a new ' class 10 ' one as well
as I have changed the battery !
And you know what dear !
I have no longer facing this problem !
It had been resolved !
Now my phone is working fine since the last month !!
Hope it helps ??
Hi folks! I was having the same issues too apart from the battery drain. My phone was lagging, restarting, getting stuck on the 'Note 4' bootup screen. I reflashed and reset. Cleared Cache etc etc. But I also got a mmc_read error. Apparently it was an internal memory error. So I sent it back to be repaired as it's just under warranty. Looking on the repair status I *think* they've ordered a replacement mainboard and will be installing it. I'll also order a new battery when it comes back.
Can anyone recommend place or web site to buy genuine Samsung battery as 99% there is counterfeit ones?
Yes, bad battery makes your phone unstable. Had same issues on Note 1. When bought new battery all gone.
Thanks

edit: My most notable change was actually to remove the memcard....
:good:

Not all the problems are gone, but it definitely helped. Problem is that i bricked my phone now lol.
I think Samsung is to blame for battery problems,i use
Samsung Pro+ microSDXC 64gb class 10 UHS,after upgrade to Marshmallow battery went crazy, tried all 6.0.1 custom roms with BL and CP mentioned there, nothing the same fast battery discharging, went back to 5.0.1 perfect, next i went to 5.1.1 perfect ,back to Marshmallow same problem, now i use SimpLite v5 5.1.1 N910F....
Thank You Samsung !!
