Selling, need to factory reset. - Ideos S7 General

Or, should I root it first and install a custom mod? Where's the best place to sell it and for how much?
Sent from my EVO Cyanogen 7rc using XDA App

I'd just wipe it. Currently there are the huawei roms available. So if you're going to sell it I'd just wipe it.
On where to sell it. I have no idea
Listen to the silence let it ring on

Factory state

Is there a way to flash S2 to factory state condition? I did flash it last night with XXKG2 and most of apps I installed stay. I want them all gone so I can sell the phone. Thanks in avance

If the phone is rooted then whatever you do the root will stay.
I have tried Wipe Cache+ Factory Reset+ Wipe dalvik cache+Wipe cache partition in CWM Recovery but root stayed. All other apps will be uninstalled though, other than the CWM and Super user though.
Same goes if you Factory reset normally via *2767*3855#.
So to remove root and all apps including CWM and Super User you need to flash back a fresh firmware, if you wanna sell it you should try flashing a Stock firmware, and also to reset ROM counter just use the USB Jig. All you have is now a brand new device.
Regards.
Thank for the tip but that Jig USB can they be bought online? I saw some video them modding cutting them and jumping with resistors or something.

If you flash a stock rom and a stock kernel you will lose root.
But in order to wipe the "flash counter" then you will need a jig.
However depending on why you are returning it you might be able to leave a rooted kernel on it as no one is likely to notice.
JIG can be bought online. search eBay you will find lots of it
So there is only one kind right that will work with GS2? THANKS
AlsoI am not worried about loosing root just wanna do fresh flash into the phone to delete apps thats bloating the storage.
Thanks again for quick replies guys

Just curious what is the purpose of resetting rom counter?

Custom roms or root invalidate Samsung warranty . On SGS 2 Samsung added a custom rom counter .

Project Voodoo help

I just bought a nexus s 4g about a month ago. I came from a Samsung intercept (worst phone ever) . I'm familiar with Android, and his everything works. Going through the app store I stumbled upon voodoo control by super curio. Since I love music it only made since that I dl it. Now that I have it I have a few quick questions.
1. What's the best way to root my phone?
2. What's the best way to flash the kernel required for voodoo control?
3. Will I still receive OTA updates (such as ice cream sandwich) when rooted ?
4. Can I flash the kernel without root?
Thanks in advance feel free to answer any other questions you feel necessary.

theres a youtube video that shows you how to root your phone its by qbking or youtube it . that how i did mine then the flashinf a kernel is just like flashing a rom.....root your phone 1st then post back and you take it from there
and yes you NEED to be rooted to flash a kernal or flash anything
by the way imho the best kernal ive put on my ns4g is matrix
the best rom is anything cm based. or brainmasters miui with the new ics launcher

Search for the Nexus S4G One Click Root
2. What's the best way to flash the kernel required for voodoo control?
The best way to flash anything for any Android device is using Clockworkmod Recovery
3. Will I still receive OTA updates (such as ice cream sandwich) when rooted ?
You can either unroot to OTA update it or just flash a rooted ICS rom when it comes out
4. Can I flash the kernel without root?
No.

That should just about cover it.
It's a common myth that you need to root to flash a kernel. You do not. You can flash anything as long as your bootloader is unlocked.

No the issue is people misuse the term root and it becomes synonymous with unlocking bootloaders.

Selling Note need to wipe... HELP! (from a newbie)

I'm selling my International Note. It has the ICS that came OTA when I bought it. Phone is rooted but I've never flashed anything or done anything besides the root. I know the phone has the emmc bug (from an app that told me) HOW DO I CLEAN THE PHONE FOR A SALE? Any thing simple I can do? Just take my chances?

First install a GB firmware with Odin, then do a Factory data reset.
Is there a link for someone with limited knowledge on how to flash GB. Never flashed before. Only rooted to use titanium backup. Thanks in advance.

Yes go back to gb first. In the factory reset their is an option there to format your internal sd, check it and factory reset your phone.
Gb installation. http://androidadvices.com/update-galaxy-note-n7000-gingerbread-xxlc1-236-firmware/2/

How the hell do I install ICS 4 original rom and get OTA working

Hi,
I have made a big mistake when buying my TF101 from my local importer and not from US.
Since my warranty has expired, I suppose to pay 100$ for him to give me the official local Rom.
1. I dont want this Rom because I can never get OTA from asus.
2. 100$ is way to much.
Is there anyway that I can install a ics 4 like it was bought in the US? with normal OTA?
I don't want to have root and tweak system, just normal rom,
I have installed a custom rom: the Chrome is very slow, the entire thing is slow and not stable.
What are my options? It has become a nightmare using this. I prefer to go back to honey comb or buy something else from the US, even though I dont live there.
I just want the original US rom.
Thanks
Easiest way is with NVFLASH, choose the firmware country you want and flash that if you can use nvflash

If you don't know how to use nvflash BRK's root toolkit from the dev forum has worked for me many times when flashing stock

Root or not to Root

You guys have prob seen a thread like this a million times, but I am getting my nexus 4 soon and I wasn't sure if i should root it or not. I have rooted before (droid x2, galaxy nexus, nexus 7) so I am fairly familiar with how the process works. I will not loose my updates from Google if I root and stay on stock ROM? That's what I would plan on doing anyways if I did. Thanks for the help!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Just Google some of the benefits of having root.. if any of those sound appealing to you then... root it. If not, don't. Buuuut since you've already been rooted with several devices, you should already know if you should root or not. But thanks for making a new thread for this personal decision that you've made 3 times before

In his defense this is a different devices I rooted and flashed rooms on my gs3 and gs2 but have not rooted or anything to this device but the key is yet right now haven't found a huge reason to do so this rom works perfectly for me and I get a days use out of it

I just couldn't stand it no more and rooted after 1 month. Also flashed clockworkmod.
Went to Nightly Mako.
I love the device but feel the new Clockwork mod's blobs folder, unable to access backups so easy, and the dam memory size...
I hesitate and hope Nightlies are flawless. Frankly its awesome. So are is the Stock ROM.
I just prefer CM10.1
ROOT!!
If I were to flash nexus 4 PA would I need to wipe system as well as do a factory reset in recovery? The directions just say factory reset.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You had better gain root... Gaining root denotes a gain not a loss. Unlocking the bootloader means your unbacked data would be lost. So back up data and root and enjoy. And yes you may wipe system I recommend it.
