Tablets are appearing left, right, and center these days and I think I have decided that I would like to support the innovative little guy. However, I have sent several emails over the course of the last month inquiring how someone could place an order.
I am in the US (if that matters) and was wondering if anyone had successfully ordered or put their names on a waiting list recently (and if so how?), and how long it takes from start to stop to get your adam.
Thanks!
RE: pre-order windows? existance is futile?
I've been wondering the same thing. Every time I talk myself into grabbing one I can't seem to locate any way of pre-ordering.
Aside from the few that are marked up/snarked up on *bay... I too would rather support the little guy. Though I fear that once I get around to talking myself into picking up a tablet again, an iPad2 will head my way.
I believe Notion Ink has finished taking orders for their 2nd pre-order.

The first batch of orders in Dec were across the map as far as time from ordering to delivery (Some got theres in Jan, others not till recently)
I don't believe anyone in this second batch has gotten delivery yet. I ordered mine on Feb 9th and the estimated shipping date is March 3rd-10th (but who knows if that will hold true).
There is a reason why they are calling these "Pre-Orders", I think it is taking them some time to produce them which is certainly a risk us consumers are taking. But have faith if you think this device suits you the best.
iPad 2 really doesn't look like it offers much more then the iPad 1
Yes it is thinner/lighter, yes it has two cameras, and yes it now has a dual core processor....but the main reason I gravitate towards the Adam is the fact is offers most of that along with more consumer friendly inputs/outputs, a physical design that will be easier to hold, and of course Honeycomb which offers so much more for me over the Apple OS 4.3
iPad 2
I agree the only thing I like about the iPad 2 is the cover, which if I am honest really is brilliant in its simplicity, utility, and awesomeness. Other than that...
Still, I am not sure which device best fits my needs (I just know I want to support small innovators) My problem is that I am a grad student who is trying to go paperless. I try and read my articles, grade my papers and read my news on a monitor, and it might be nice to have something that I could hold rather than put on my lap.
Also pretty sure that 7 inches is just too small (maybe 10 is too big) who knows...I wish there were more brick and mortar stores where I could try them out.
The Xoom is available to try out at best buy. So you could at least get an idea of what 10inch's is like as well as Honeycomb vs. the Apple OS.
The LG Optimus Pad and supposedly a new Galaxy Tab are coming out with 8.9inch screens.
If you are focusing on the Adam for its Pixel Qi screen for reading I would research more reviews on how it does indoors vs. outdoors. I opted to order the LCD version only since I don't plan on using it as an e-reader or for outdoor purposes. I mainly want it to replace my personal laptop that i lug around whenever I travel just to check email/surf the web/ and watch movies.
I ordered mine feb 5 and received it yesterday if it helps any.

I consider that good news for 9th orders. Means that the promised 3rd March shipping date is still realistic.
Edit: Actually, bad news. Means I'll have to start checking the pre-order site multiple times a day now out of sheer compulsive curiousity.

My Feb 9th order has shipped
I realize that Notion is a small company, but how can they think they will stay in business when people can't figure out how to order or have to wait a ton?
I like the idea of the Adam, but not the idea of waiting to pre-order then waiting a month or more for my unit.
So is it worth the wait?
Depends on what your needs/wants are in a tablet.
I came to the decision of handing my money over to Notion Ink instead of any other company for the following reasons:
- 2 x Full USB 2.0 Ports
- Tegra 2
- 6 Physical Buttons (4 on the face, Back button and Power button on the side)
- Full HDMI Out
- Ergonomical Design
- Promise of Honeycomb
- $425 price tag
I too am wondering if this tablet is worth the wait. I ordered mine Feb 14 and I am tired of waiting. My original estimated ship date was now pushed back to 3/3-3/10. This is insane. I have no idea how these guys intend to run a successful company doing business like this. This is absolutely unacceptable. If this estimated ship date is pushed back one more time I am going to cancel my order. And if they give me any sh*t going that route I'll simply refute the charges and let my AMEX deal with this B.S.
Of course, I hope I don't have to go that route and I hope I will receive an email shortly telling me my Adam has shipped. I really want this device but refuse to wait around like a scorned lover begging for attention. I'm paying good money. It's not like I won this thing in a contest and am waiting on them to ship one once they have extras. This is INSANE!!!
I bought the Adam because of the reasons I posted above. No other company is putting a tablet out that offers the same functionality.
With that said....
There is a BIG reason why they are calling this a "PRE-ORDER". They are a small company, they did not have the money and means to start mass producing these. But from what we read from Rohan they are growing quickly and starting to strategically plan for a larger roll out that also includes better support.
Adam is their first product, they are dedicating resources towards designing the next one. This kind of innovation is a beautiful thing. I don't understand how people "expect" this ordering experience to be similar to that of purchasing an Apple or Motorola product.
What are the price-points of the various options?
My friend and I both just recently signed up for pre-orders but who knows when the next batch will roll out....just trying to plan ahead!
Thanks.
Of course I wouldn't expect it to be like buying an Apple or Moto product. The surprising part is their website is a little too filled with mystery. The tech audience in general is not a patient bunch and signing up for unknown pre order dates and long waits wont fly with everyone. For their own sake I hope they can step up production a bit. I do believe their pricing is very good from what I could find but having to google them vs being front and center on their site is kinda lame.

I just got this wonderful email from Notion Ink and now will be contacting my Credit Card company to cancel my order! I am also relatively sure a lot of people got the same email who was in the 29th batch (I was originally suppose to be in the 9th batch then got bumped to the 15-22, then got bumped to the 29th batch).
"Dear XXX
Greetings from Notion Ink!
We understand that you have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of your Adam. However, we regret to inform you that a fraction of our touch-screens got damaged during transportation due to which your shipment has been effected.
The Chinese New Year holidays that are in the first week of February further add to the delay. However, our touchscreen partner, Sintek, have agreed to work through the holidays and deliver the screens as soon as possible. We are afraid that until we receive these touchscreens, your device would not be ready for shipment.
The estimated date of your shipment would be 14th February 2011 (Buffer included).
In case you need any further assistance, please contact the Notion Ink Support Team at [email protected].
We thank you for your continued patience and co-operation in this matter.
Warm Regards

Update: Just sent notion ink support an email asking to have my pre-order canceled and my money refunded. I will let anyone know the response as soon as I get it.
Update #2: Canceling my order officially took one day but I have to wait 10-21 days to get my money back (hopefully no delays there)

My thoughts exactly.
has this effected the 31st batch as well? Just wondering as I am was in the 29th
Yes this has effected 31st batch also. I am in 31 st batch and now it shows 14 feb 2011.
Atleast you people got emails from customer care. I got nothing..
Also bumped to 14th of Feb. Originally 9th Jan. 3rd delay.
BTW XDA "Notion INk Lpves you" so send them a rocket for the complete farce that this is turning into.
Rohan Shravan "nominee for Adroid person of the year" Sorry but NO NO NO!
He misinforms, delays, sends out smoke screens, let's loyal customers down and does not care about them at all. He is out to make a fast buck it seems and I think it's gonna bite him in the ass and NI will be bankrupt within a few months.
I wish there was some way you could transfer the order over to me.
He posted a few days ago about the broken screens and said there may be a delay. There isn't much NI can do about it. Its a small company, not motorola or htc. They're doing the best they can I'm sure, and they've made a few mistakes along they way.
I would be curious if someone priced these out to determine how much NI if making on them. I bet it isn't much considering how much they've invested. Its going to take them years to turn a profit.
I'm shocked they got the screen supplier to work through the new year.
PM me if you think they will transfer the order

Sirchuck,
My main problem is not the delay its the fact they had to know about this at least a week prior to when they wanted to ship them. Because it takes time to build and ship the devices. This shouldn't have been a shock to them they day after they were suppose to ship. And honestly as an upstart company you don't want you companys image to be of delays and a disheartened customer base. I work in IT and was hyping this product uptown my friends and coworks who really wanted to check it out. Now I have to tell them its been delayed again and I am trying to cancel my order. Think they will give this company a shot in the near future??

What do you want them to do?
Use the possibly damaged screens and ship on time? Sell out to Steve Jobs so you can order an Adamapple? Wait till you can buy it at Walmart, and be shipped in their thousands so they are like every other tablet?
Currently you are in the front of the line. Relax and enjoy it. Read. Learn. When it gets here you will be far more knowledgeable than if you had one in your hands right now.
Again, currently you are in the front of the line.
Hey John,
I am pretty relaxed at this point and really not upset the least. I just feel like at this point this is a company I don't personally want to do business with anymore. Assuming they cancel my pre-order, with out tons of aggravation at this point I will harbor them no ill will. And no I will not be going to go by an Ipad! lol's I dont know where you got that from. I will probably get a Xoom depending on how locked down (which most likely will be extremely locked down) it is or just hold off until I can get something from HTC.
And I 100% agree with you, if I were them I wouldn't have used damaged LCD's but they knew they weren't going to use damaged LCDs before today. Being someone who has now had his date pushed back 3 times I just feel that personally I deserved to know this before, not after my tablet was suppose to ship for the 3rd time. In fact if they had just said initially that the devices were going to ship in late February, I would have been ok with it.
And thanks for the advice but I always read an learn

Let us know what happens with your cancellation. I'm curious if they'll try to charge you the cancellation fee -- I'm tempted to cancel mine and pickup the Xoom. I was pretty stoked about the pixelQi, but the reviews so far sound like it's not worth the extra cash. Based on Motorola's history, it's pretty likely that their screen will be good quality.
Never thought for a second you would
get an iPad. I was saying, should they (NI) sell out to Steve for the Adamapple. A crude attempt at humor. I am a 5.31% fractionalist as well and wish I had the little begger right here, but not. I will read and learn until he lands.
The Pixel Qi is only worth the extra cash
if you plan to ever use it outdoors in the sun. I use one daily and it is wonderful. I live in Florida and will never have a portable device with out one. Is Adam the Pixel Qi device to own. Can't say that. Is Adam the only commercial production device right now with one. Can say that.
Updated my original post with some info about my cancellation.
Too bad, they're going for a premium on ebay too. May have been worthwhile to just resell it! But that's a hassle and probably not worth the hundred or two extra they're going for.

Honestly I thought a lot about doing just that, and the reason I didn't is because I canceled due to my personal doubts on of the companies integrity. If I had sold the device at a premium on e-bay and I had the unfortunate luck of receiving a faulty unit or something else along those lines and then passed that unit onto someone else, I would of been kicking my self in the ass for doing it in the first place. For me I viewed canceling my pre-order as a cutting my losses move. Now all I have to hope for is I get my money back with out any further hassle.
So, I've been lied to by Asus' chosen retailers, and I've seen people who placed orders after me receive tracking numbers, while my own shipments are indefinitely backordered. It seems I'm not alone in that.
I have no choice but to cancel my orders in a week from now, because I'll be out of the country with my family for two weeks, and nobody will be around to collect deliveries. Given that the 48 hours we'll be spending in airports and airplanes was one of the key reasons I decided to buy the Transformer now rather than waiting for something better, I almost certainly won't be buying one on my return -- once my orders are cancelled, it's game over for Asus.
I was utterly disgusted to see that instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, or giving even vague information as to when they'll be providing more stock, Asus had the audacity to post about how we "love" them on their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/asus...mer-sold-out-in-north-america/194700557240017
There's plenty of info in the US retail availability thread, but it's hidden in 400 pages of posts. Hence, I thought it might be a good idea to collect together all of the unhappy, would-be customers who've been lied to and mistreated by Asus' launch partners in one place, where Asus can see that love is not an emotion we're feeling right now, and that we're extremely unhappy about how we've been treated.
Air your grievances here. Have you been lied to? Have you been passed over for shipments by retailers, when those who ordered after you are receiving their tablets?
Tell Asus exactly how you feel. If you have plans to cancel your order after a certain date, let us know when. And if the way you've been treated by their retailers has persuaded you not to do business with them or Asus again, don't be shy about saying so.
Personally, Asus has 7 days to get my tablet to a retailer who will actually ship it to me. If they don't, I won't be buying an Asus product, ever again.
I placed my order around 3AM with amazon, as of now, still no activity on the order... while people who ordered after me got it.
I think it may have to do with the fact that my order showed up as coming from Target.com/ITC or something but now its showing amazon LLC.
Then I placed order with Datavision, who over sold and have gotten the money back.
Then I placed order with TigerDirect and they, it seems over sold as well and have been hearing and reading lies from them since yesterday.
Asus screwed up big time!
So you're blaming Asus? Awesome. Doesn't sound like you've been an early adopter before.
You aren't alone Knox; I ordered mine at the same time as you did. I'm pretty sure we were chatting in the IRC room while we were waiting for it to get released.
I talked to an Amazon rep yesterday who guaranteed me the product would arrive on the estimated delivery date. I talked to another one today after the shipping info wasn't updated and that rep basically stated the previous rep lied to me and that I would not be receiving my product as expected.
I'm throughly upset because I could have ordered it from another retailer at the time and received my TF tomorrow or Friday.
I'm not sure if I'm going to cancel now and get the Acer or wait a week to see if I actually get the TF.

Asus didn't provide sufficient supply for the launch, have provided no information on when more stock is expected, tried to spread what tiny stock they had across too many retailers, didn't require their retailers to sell first-come first-served, and failed to supply *any* accessories or 32GB tablets at all.
I'd say they shoulder a very large part of the blame.

this alone makes me believe you are crying over spilt milk.
its a early launch. supplies are limited. all asus did was supply the product to retailers. how the retailers handle it is their business not asus's. if you're that hardcore about raging over the retailers that you wont buy another asus product, you have issues.
To be quite honest, I'm sure that ASUS has given away more free tablets to reviewers, contests (both twitter and facebook), college student "representatives", etc. than they sold... how exactly are they making money on these tablets? LOL
Have you even read the engadget post? it clearly states it's unknown whether it's because of limited supplies or huge demand or both.
Asus had already said there would be limited supplies in a statement, and the point still stands, if they had built up stock first you still wouldn't have it now since it wouldn't have been released for a while.
In essence you're just sour grapes because some people got one of the limited supplies and you didn't. And if you can't have it no one can have it.

Yup, and each of those came with a dock, while they haven't sold a single dock in the entire US market.
i bet you will be buying another asus product because they make many components for other companies
I think the main problem was the race to launch first, certainly in the UK. In the US the Xoom has been out for a while, which is why I think Asus wanted to concentrate more on the UK (makes a nice change!) so that they could pip Motorola to the post with the UK launch. The Xoom was originally set to come out on the 9th April, and at the last minute Asus managed to get a limited number of units out to uk shops around the 6th, although I didn't discover this until after that date.
Truth is that I would have bought the first tegra2 tablet that came out in the UK, and I had been waiting (mistakenly) for the xoom on the 9th. On that day I got out of bed, went down to PC World and tried to get one, only to be told they had been delayed until middle of June. A couple of days later after reading more about the transformer I found out a local Comet had one in stock so I bought it. A few days later I noticed PC world had the Xoom in.
My point of this very long story is that this is just happening this time round with this set of tablets because the manufacturers are rushing to get their tablets out to the masses and be first. I think everything will settle down soon and people won't feel 'lied' to once the availability is sorted out. Asus could have given a more solid date, granted, but like seshmaru said, if they'd held on to stocks until they'd had enough to go round, then nobody would currently have one.
You can't really blame Asus for the retailer's actions. If Asus hadn't given them a solid date or numbers of shipments expected, then the retailers shouldn't really be advertising the product for sale, or should at least inform the customer they aren't definite dates. They only make the things, without having their own entire distribution arm like Apple, they can't control what retailers do!
Still sucks for you man going on holiday! I've been there, waiting for gadgets to come before a trip away and they haven't arrived, it's not fun!
Think on the positive side man, if the only reason you bought this was to use for a trip, then buy yourself a good book instead, and bam! Saved yourself £400! I'd invest that money into training a monkey butler.

Who else is responsible for this fiasco?
It's not like they didn't see this coming after they botched the UK launch.
AT LEAST a few folks in the UK got the keyboard docks - from everything I've seen in the US "launch", no one received a keyboard dock.
So yes, Asus, how do you "launch" a product with such insufficient stock - and with ZERO keyboard docks - which btw is the PRIMARY feature that sets your "Transformer" apart from other tablets?
There would be a lot more happy customers if, following the UK debacle, Asus *announced* that the US launch would happen in May - or June - or whatever it takes to actually have an ample supply on on hand - and oh yeah KEYBOARDS too!

Forgot to add, ASUS is the one that announced the launch on 4/26 - with a list of retailers on their own page. Yet several of those retailers (sears.com, staples.com, officemax.com, officedepot.com etc) NEVER even received stock.
How do you announce a launch date - and retailers - but don't supply those retailers with any units?
Yes, in my opinion, that falls on Asus.
I think blaming the retailer and the supplier can be split into two separate debates.
The retailer, reseller, gougers, etc; that is just the nature of the business. How they handle their customer is independent to each store and that is where your money speaks loudest.
Amazon I feel did an amazing job. Their order system processed all orders with no crashes up until they were sold out. Once sold out, they site updated to backorder. When you place an order, you assume the risk of delays and backorders. How heavy handed you want to be on a company is up to you but does not change the fact that when you make a purchase, you play by their rules.
As for ASUS, I think they did a terrible job. They put one posting of low quantity on facebook for UK. Then for US post, they have a huge banner that says "On shelves on 4/26". There was not a single item on any retailer's shelves. There were no communication with their retailers to give them constant updates on status. They release the Keyboard Dock but have absolutely no availability. Communication was terrible to their customer and their retailer which are their customers as well.
ASUS needs to get their act together if they want to attempt to compete with Apple. Hell, even a multibillion dollar company like Apple makes mistakes, but they sure know how to launch a product and connect with their consumers and retailers (strict pricing, etc).

"I can't get one so no one should get one"
btw UK launchdate didn't have the dock either, and the dock is an accessory, accessories are released at a later date more often.
If they had waited the Iconia a500 would possibly have gained momentum, (which it didn't, but it could've) this is the best strategy for Asus seeing as demand is far exceeding the supply, it's been a raging success for them. Besides they promised a Q1 launch around march last year, at least they stuck to their word without any launch delays.
So I'm creating this thread to track availability/delivery of the 32 GB version of the Asus Transformer. I pre-ordered the 32 GB version from Amazon 3 am CST on the 26th, and my order indicates the following.
"Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. You can cancel at any time."
I haven't heard of any 32 GB availability as of yet and thought it'd be good to see when people actually start getting their hands on these units. I've seen on sites like CDW an estimated availability of May 14th?
Please add any info, links or dates you've seen as to when the 32 GB Transformers might start shipping.
Same deal for me. I'm giving them two more weeks to ship, which I think is beyond a reasonable expectation for a model they say launched. If it doesn't come in by then I'll cancel and just wait for the newer tablets coming out in June/July.
I am in the same boat. Ordered from Amazon at 3AM EST. Keeping my fingers crossed that these exist and just didn't go out with the first batch. If I can just get it within a week or two I will be happy, three to four weeks I will be slightly disappointed at the wait, and anything longer I will probably move on to Samsung.
Yea I'm given it till May 13th or thereabouts to get it out. Hoping its just a matter of Asus actually delivering them to amazon/other retailers, similar to the dock at the current moment.
I'd maybe cancel and go to the tab if it has a price somewhere in the same ball park as the transformer. Any other tablets out there that will be coming out in June/July that would compare - samsungs is only one i know of at the moment unless there is some google/nexus tablet annouced at Google I/O.
Samsung, Google and Amazon are the ones I hear about. Of course only the Samsung is solid. Dell I suppose but they seem to be way behind the curve so far. Sony will probably be very late to market and overpriced, nothing new there!
Not many replies, could we be seeing a substantially lower demand for the 32gb?
Does this bode well for us? I mean if demand is low and Asus knows it they may focus on the 16gb and leave us hanging. Alternatively they may push out a bunch of 32gb in the knowledge they'll still move and do so at a more profitable point.
I pre ordered from BnH, but no idea shipping date. I have the Acer, but will most likely be trading that back in before the two weeks at BB. Honeycomb, at least on the Acer, has been a buggy experience. Would love the Acer if it had a 32GB model, but who knows how long until they even arrive from Asus, so who knows.
Also, don't buy a Samsung product like the tab, Samsung mobile products are over priced garbage the last few years. Just ask any honest Sprint salesman. Samsung's Q/A sucks and they have poor quality products'

That's my plan too. I pre-ordered the 32gb from J&R at 1:00pm on the 26th.
I sat and watched people buy the 16gb from newegg. I think I could have got one, but I wanted the 32gb. We'll see what happens.
I might call J&R tomorrow to see if they know anything (but I doubt they do.) From what I've read they seem to be the most honest of the stores selling this thing.
I will report back if I hear anything.
I have an order with AAFES and a Preorder with Amazon. No word on when either will ship though.
From CSR at Amazon. They expect it to ship on June8! time to move on?
I ordered from B&H as well. No word. I will also give it 2 weeks.
Walmart had it for a few seconds/minutes. Hopfully the CSR at amazon was wrong.
In the same boat...
Hello all. Just checking in. I've got a preorder in with Target through Amazon as well. I'll be watching this thread and I'll post something if I hear anything through the grapevine (or the accounts page). I'm thinking maybe a simultaneous "launch" for the 32 Gb and the dock around 5/14? Thoughts?

Wow. Thats awful, I wonder if the 16gb i ordered to replace my xoom will be quicker.
I think Amazon is giving everybody a date in June for anything to do with the Transformer so that they can surprise customers instead of letting them down if something further delays the items. I am personally keeping my fingers crossed for a dual release of the 32GB and the keyboard within the next two weeks.

Sure hope this isn't true. I kinda doubt a Amazon CSR would have inside knowledge as to when they are getting them from Asus. I too passed on ordering the 16 GB elsewhere, and kinda kicking myself now. But with a 32 micro SD sitting on my desk I'll hopefully have a 64 GB tablet in matter of a few weeks!
Saw that the walmart page went live indicating in stock (now out of stock) - thinking it was an error but interested to see if people get tracking #s.

Amazon definitely suprises far more often than disappoints.
I would auto refresh the Walmart.com order page.
It came up twice for me. The first time I was in the process of ordering and it popped up that the item was out of stock during the order process. The second time it popped up the page refreshed when I saw it and it was out of stock.
I think they are populating as they arrive and are being sold. But, it could be a glitch in their system.
Someone else on the other thread was able to successfully place an order.
I just snatched a 16GB one from Fry's. Seems Fry's are getting some 16GB ones at store locations in dribbles now. Gotta check for in store pickup. Might check for 32GB versions there as well periodically.
i walked it at 5:00 pm they had about 30 galaxy tabs of all flavors. I was the only one who ad bought one in two days. They were sold out of all ipads except 64gb Verizon models.
Who cares, to each their own. I drove all the way to Buffalo just to pick one up from Toronto. (First to get it in the Best Buy) haha.
Ipad will always sell more than the galaxy tab 10.1
Apple has perfect marketing.
So, you checked for 2 days or a BB sales man told you so?
When I read the topics here some BB's sales men don't even know they are selling Tabs
If anything the bee's are just really started making honeycomb.
A first proper start of Honeycomb tablet sales have started with the Asus Transformer. It's really picking up here in the Netherlands, most popular tablet on a big dutch site, where the Tab 10.1 has not been lauched.
I had to wander around a bit before finding the display (was set off on the other side of the Apple section, away from the other tablets/computers). Seems they were pretty popular though. They were out of both 32gb models and out of the white 16gb. Guy said I snagged the last Metallic 16gb (But of course whether he was just saying that is questionable). Down in Destin, FL so at least here in the white sands they are pretty popular.
there was a cage full of tabs and some sitting on the shelf. They had 30 tabs delivered a day late I counted 30. There were two guys arguing about purchasing a returned ipad2.
We have five Best Buys here in Jacksonville - all of them have the 10.1 in stock.. 32 and 16gb both colors.
iPad is definately more popular in my city.
Frankly like Sighx says, who cares. I'd rather question: send some to Europe asap

Cool story, bro.
This isn't a whine - I'm patiently waiting to get one when they are in stock - but I'm just a bit amazed at how the situation is unfolding with BB.
No store anywhere in Silicon Valley (or in northern California for that matter) has ever received any 32GB versions (they all received a small batch of only one of the 2 16GB colors - the color varies by store), and most of them gave all of their initial stock of those 16GB versions to people who pre-ordered them (but there are a scant few still in stores). And now they are fielding questions right and left about not having any stock. I imagine they'll put up a recorded message before the phone menu any day now just like they do for the iPad availability. This isn't a case of a huge sellout on day one, they are all complaining that they only originally received a handful and they were only of one of the 2 16GB versions. And the SF store has some egg on its face (almost literally) with the huge window on the front of the store sporting an enormous banner that implies that "this is the place to get your Samsung Galaxy Tab!" (or maybe not)... ;-)
And you could walk into any Microcenter or Frys in the area and get the flavor you wanted for at least 2 days (and some within 40 miles still have stock in most of the models even today) and they didn't need a big banner to advertise their stock (or lack thereof). Wasn't BB the launch partner with the special exclusive one week deal for NY - why is that the only store I can't get the right model in?
Between the huge number of (unfilled) preorders here and the number of phone calls they are getting currently and the fact that this is one of the seats of the computer industry in the country, you'd have thought they'd send at least one single 32GB version to some store here somewhere? But, no.
Wow, talk about missing the boat. Who at BB corporate managed to mess up the distribution this badly? At least I believe that the majority of tablet users are clear enough on what they want that they'll wait for it and the bad distribution choices won't really cost them a huge opportunity in the end, but if they didn't have enough to go around and they sent them mainly to places that don't know how to market them rather than one of the few places you know they'd walk off the shelves without any help from the sales staff (or the now tragically ironic huge banners) - that wasn't a complicated decision, no?
I'm waiting it out. I have a Xoom in the meantime whose days are numbered, but I'm waiting to take advantage of some rewardzone certificates at BB when someone eventually wakes up and sends some 32GB versions to the NoCal stores. Giggling a little, but with a frown.
Sales will be lukewarm at best. You need price point and ad money to sell things. Verizon saved android from a slow death in the phone market with its Droid campaign. Unless someone pumps serious money into tablet ads they'll continue to flounder. Outside of BB posters Noone has a clue what a galaxy tab is nor will they unless Samsung pushes hard.
Superior products don't equal better sales we all know that.
I had one on pre-order with BB but it was back ordered. I did a search and my local store had the 32g in stock. I picked it up and everything is working great. All I would like to see is more streaming capability

Well, in my Best Buy they are mostly morons, with a few cretins and idiots thrown in for good measure! I went in to buy a 10.1 Tab (already own the 7) and asked if they had any - one BB salesdrone said maybe but none on display. I said "do you know this is Father's Day and your website says their in stock- the drone just shrugged - I asked another if they expected someone to lay down $600 site unseen - same reaction.
Is it any wonder BB sales were down 16% last quarter?

It all depends where you located I guess.
Here in NYC it's been selling like cupcakes according to the sales guys and personal observation. When I went to pick mine up a couple asked me if it was an ipad2, after seeing it wasn't they were next in line to get it.
After I discovered a flaw with the screen and went to exchange it in a Brooklyn's best buy there were three other interested costumers.

Mabye it has something to do with this tablet having more lag than a hippo springing in molasses. I can't type on this thing because it lags so hard. I am going to hold on to it because I hate ios but it really sucks.
Best buy showed stock but turned out they were sold out. They were willing to pricematch to match no tax on Amazon if I would preorder through them

Went to a couple of BB in NY.
One of them (Houston in the Village/ Soho) I asked about the tab and they said ' we have it but we didn't put it out'. I asked why, the guy had no clue.
They have zero accessories.
Went to the one on 6th ave and 23rd st (very big store). First BB employee said 'Yes we have it don't move I will be right back'. She never came back.
Second one said "accessories are there" pointing to the Xoom. I told her that's the Xoom, she said well that's all its left.
To make a long story short, I found the Tab and the accessories myself.
This is just to tell you that if BB employees tell you something it's usually 99% INACCURATE. Ask at least 5 different employees, or even better, do your own research in the store and you will find what you are looking for.
Fact is the average Joe wanting a tablet will just go ipad. It is easy well made tons of apps. Samsung is offering a nice alternative but without any real differentiation. No built-in expansion. No keyboard dock liked the Asus. Price point is no better than the ipad. Honeycomb is not mature enough yet to steal potential ipad buyers so one needs some extra hardware goodies line USB port or dock or HDMI and importantly better price point.
Sell Samsung at 449 and then people start to consider it. Make it 399-429$ and many will pass on the ipad.

You are very right. Salesmen told me it was instock. Then not, sold me hard on getting a pre-order. Promised to match price to amazon, 500 otd. Another girl rings up preorder, rings at full price. Leave store with promise it will be corrected upon pickup. Pulling up at the house, receive e-mail saying Tab ready to pick up.
Fail. Then had to wait on hold for 30 minutes to verify this was correct before I head back over.
Anyone knows when our beloved N4 will be available again? Any official statement besides it is sold out? Surely I am not the only did not put my order through :crying:
rumor round up, Nov 15
1, some suggest to check in on Friday, confirmed by google + and some T Mo stores
2, google backorder mail suggests to give your F5 a 3-week vacation
3, email from google support says "soon" but do not know how soon
Nov 16
1, For those who want to order from Negri (http://negrielectronics.com/lg-e960-nexus-4-16gb-unlocked-black.html#.UKYW7IdQS3E), there is a coupon code you can use: 10offsite will take $10 off. Cheers!
2, reported by some threads: today several lucky ones were told that their phones are on the way as we speak, after receiving BO mail yesterday.
3, no word on when it will be available again for the rest of us...keep waiting
4, got a word from google support that the N4 will be in stock and the price will NOT be changed. This is to respond to some rumors saying play store will not sell it for a while, so the local electronic stores (not ebay) in different countries can gain some, because some will be forced to pay higher price. Certainly hope google keeps the promise to sell us N4 soon.
5, rumor has it that India will receive N4 on Nov 30. This might suggest when the 2nd wave comes!
Nov 18
New rumor: the 2nd batch comes in a few days!
Note again, it is just a rumor from a blog: Nexus 4…weeks away? “Days” according to Play Support
No one knows. Hell, we didn't even know when the thing went on sale yesterday. It was just a feeding frenzy!
No
No.
Edit: I managed to order a 16gb 1 minute after it became available here, but I really feel bad for you, man. On the bright side, early adopters are gonna get screwed with a lot of issues. Sorry, man. Hopefully it becomes available soon.
google play store plays us
maybe then we can just decide to sleep when we are tired and not to refresh the website any chance we get.
is this the official statement from google?

Why?
We have just some 4-5 weeks to go until the end of the year, so "in coming weeks" could easily mean "mid/end January".
Quite possible if you think, that industry is currently scrambling to produce enough stock for Christmas and will be mostly idling afterwards. So google could use it to produce more N4s.
I just hope there will be plenty of stock eventually instead of all this selling out nonsense.
I was online and had the opportunity to buy the 8GB version but i was confused, i looked at the 16GB version and still said "Coming Soon" so i thought it hadn't gone on sale yet, little did i realise it had already been and gone
So while i was waiting the 8GB version sold out too, gutted.
Might be reading too much into the Google+ Post but:
There’s been so much interest for the Nexus lineup that we’ve sold out of some of our initial stock in a few countries!

I feel like Google would probably rather have it come out before the holidays than after lol...
I'll bet next restock will be either this month or next.
Probably somewhere near the end of December I think

If they sell the second batch in mid-january, this means making everyone wait 2 months.
2 months is a lot, especially if you have no guarantee that in 2 months' time stocks will be enough for everybody.
The problem with phones is that they age very quickly, and the sooner people get them, the more they are likely to keep them.
I, to conclude, really hope that we will see a second sale next week. Even if stock is going to be, if possible, even lower, it doesn't matter: angry people will stay angry, but we will have some more "lucky ones" which will have a new phone.
But this is just my opinion.

Found you here as well..Whats up man
I've heard everything from them coming out this Thursday/Friday, all the way up to in one more month.
Spoke to a CSR today and they -of course- cant give out any days because they don't even know. "Being a guesser" the CSR said, "i would guess that it [a new batch of Nexus 4's] could come out the 21 to the 23 of the month ,that way they would be ready for Black Friday" he kept going, "but then again, it could take them until December, that's just my opinion. It all depends what the marketing team wants to do."

We get anywhere near mid-end of Jan and im passing, you've nailed it with the "tech moves too fast".
No way this will be the best hardware on the market at that point, only selling point is its a Nexus, which despite me being a fan wont swey my decision.
Stret
I just want ask to google, why the hell are so many Nexus 4 being sold on ebay, if i can't buy one in playstore?????
I unfortunately missed being able to buy N4
I imagine Google will have more stock in before Christmas, or they would lose out on quite a bit of $$.
I've heard they are supposed to have more in by Friday 8am (GMT)(or midnight PST) however cannot confirm this.

A fortnight at least
I am sure they have to do before international launch which is I guess is 29th or 30th by LG.
