My old iphone was jailbroken and had lockinfo installed. that way I could mark emails as read and read txts from the lock screen. i would love to do something similar with my Atrix.
I was thinking it would be great to just be able to pull down the notification shade on the locked lock screen. that way it is clean looking, and if i don't want to unlock it, I can just pull the shade down and interact / clear notifications from the shade. does anyone know if this is possible, or if any one has implemented a similar hack on another phone? i would be happy to get My hands dirty in the code, but have never worked with Android before and was hoping for a jump start.
the app widget locker will let you do this as well as give you full control over your lockscreen.
Is there any way to add toggle widgets to the shade like touchwiz does, that seems to be the only thing I liked about touchwiz

is it me or is there no way to have the lockscreen and homescreen wallpaper different like you could on the hero???
I was wondering the same thing......I dont think there is way to do it in the stock rom....
that sucks they a stupid move on htc part i hope i the devs can restore this issue in the custom roms
i dont mind it looks sleek
I don't mind it. It looks visually better this way (the lock slides... the screen stays in place). With the Hero, the entire lock/background moved.
I just installed "No Lock" from the market which disables the lock screen completely. It's great on the EVO, because now I can use the volume buttons to turn on my phone and not have to slide an unlock screen to access anything. That power button is sometimes tricky to reach with this massive size phone .
I believe thus was done for live wallpaper as they now work in lockscreen and password screen.
I like the feature

Since we're on the subject of lockscreens, is there anyway I can customize the lockscreen? It would be pretty nice if I could add widgets or something useful on there.
I installed LauncherPro on my S7, but I would like to figure out how to change the notification bar to something more like the stock one. I like the way the notification bar works on my Epic 4G, but I haven't figured out how to do this on the S7.
Anyone know how to accomplish this?

check the bottom of the tutorial
Code your own rom for the S7.
The notification bar is the way it is and without re-writing the OS, you're not going to be able to change it.
I find that tapping to drop it down works better than sliding. It was really painful on my other resistive Android tablet.
I did follow the instructions from the post. My expectation of that was that I would have the normal notification bar. However, that isn't the case.
I'm not really into making a custom ROM for the notification bar. The funny thing is that now that I've used the stock notification bar, I'm getting used to it. The back button at the left side of the bar is actually pretty nice to use. As I'm an old Palm/Pocket PC/Windows Mobile guy, I like using a stylus and the back arrow is actually OK. I just think that the thing is too big.
Thanks,
There are a few things that really bug me about the Touchwiz software.
1) The ridiculous color scheme/non-standardization between pages. For instance, the new apk install menu is just horrid to look at, as well as certain pop-up confirmation buttons. Is there any easy way to change these so that they more reflect AOSP?
2) The messaging application and the widget that appears on the lock screen when you have a missed phone call/text message. I was wanting to use Dashclock widget on the homescreen to replicate this purpose, but no matter what, I can't find a way to disable that widget that always appears. Is there a way to remove it?
3) This sorta ties along with #2, but when you use a pattern on the lock screen, you can't use a stand alone widget, Samsung automatically takes over and uses it's own. I know it's possible to use pattern and a widget (I can do it on the GE Rom, and my Nexus 7), is there a way duplicate this process?
4) Is there a way to replace the TW messaging app with an AOSP messaging application?
5) The pull down notification bar, is there any way to make it look more like AOSP?
There are things that I love both about TW and AOSP, and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a rom (in my opinion) that compliments both of the features that they consist of nicely. I don't have the knowledge (or the time at the moment with school coming up) to try and build my own rom that would enjoy the features that I would want. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this process. I would be forever grateful.
I can't believe a developer hasn't created this yet.
I love the desktop lock feature of adw launcher. But my 4 year old will still accidentally pull down the notification panel and change settings.
So there has to be a way to add an in-memory app that prevents the panel from being pulled down.
I still want to be able to see the status bar, but just not be able to pull down the panel.
I know it's possible because I have widgetlocker and it prevents it from the lock screen.
Please put your development skills to the test!
I am stock; not rooted; and have both ICS Droid 4g, and GB Incredible 2.
Try GMD Gesture Control. With a gesture or on an app-active basis you can hide the notification bar, which in this case prevents the drawer from being opened. You still get an auditory notification, and if you're near another gadget, there are ways to get notified via browser, a backup phone, tablet, and in not too long, TVs & watches, too.
So glad to *not* hear "you" sent your boss a "drunken" nonsense text! It was the coloring apps combined with the incomparable, phone-endangering frustration (not mine) that got me to spend the $5.
adw launcher can already hide the status bar, thus locking the notification panel. But I want an app that let's me see the status bar but locks the panel (just like widgetlocker lockscreen does).
Any dev out there that can make this for me?
Since I got the Note 3 a week ago, I've spent most of that time trying to find a way to get proper lockscreen notifications. "Proper" in this case means pretty much what LockInfo IV did on jailbroken iPhones (if you're familiar with that):
Each notification chosen by the user is displayed on the lockscreen as a separate entity
Each notification (text or email) can be viewed in its entirety on the lockscreen, if the user chooses that option (such as by tapping to expand each notification)
Notifications are persistent, in that they remain visible on the lockscreen whenever the phone is brought out of sleep mode.
I've tried LockerPro, Nils, Pop-up Notifier, and others and they all fail in one way or another. I'm led to believe that lockscreen notifications are limited by the way that Android populates the notifications panel. The big problem is that if you get more than one email or text, they all get lumped together into a single, useless "You have <x> number of new messages" entry, which means you have to unlock the phone and launch the respective app to see who it's from and what it says.
This completely defeats the purpose of screening notifications on the lockscreen.
I'd appreciate recommendations for any app that will make lockscreen notifications useful. Thanks to designgears, my phone is rooted now, if that makes a difference.
Try dynamic notifications. It mimics the moto x.
Won't show everything though.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that one and it didn't do it for me, but I'll give it another shot at some point.
For now, I've stopped worrying about lockscreen notifications, since push email is basically broken on the Note 3 anyway. It's like a time machine back to 1995.

Hey - I was looking for the same for my N3....i've been trying Dynamic Notifications on and off for awhile now. At first it works, and then just stops. Maybe give Knock2 +V2..I'm testing it now and so far it seems to work flawlessly for me
