[Q] Display Issue this morning help - Atrix 4G General

Hey guys (and gals)
So I'm pretty new to android but I'm having a display problem as it it won't show anymore.
When I woke up this morning my little green light was flashing showing I had email, then I clicked the power button to turn on my phone and it was dark. NO display. So I thought my phone froze.
I then removed the battery and replaced it and tried again, held the power button and the green light whent on but still a dark display? Did my phone display die, or is there something else I can try before going to att?
Thanks.

Is the battery empty? Have you tried to charge it with the original charger that came with the phone?

Yep, first thing I tried no go.

sounds like the battery is defective. Get an exchange battery and if that doesn't help exchange the entire phone.

This was the issuea bad battery they changed it out and now all is better thank you

Help! My Atrix just died

Had it for over 3 weeks. Never had one single problem, reboot, etc.
Was working fine today, left it on the desk for a bit, went to use it again....Nothing. Press power button, screen does not turn on at all. Red light is flashing sometimes. Tried plugging into the wall charger, not charging, nothing shows up.
If I make a phone call to it, it rings but nothing on screen shows up and pick up call obviously. Now its flashing red/green LED's, I just tried sending it an e-mail and could hear the e-mail sound so its a live but the screen is completely dead.
I can fix mostly anything on a PC but sort of a noob when it comes to smartphones. Should I pull the battery? How do I reset it without erasing any data? I'm going to take it to the place I bought it from later today but is there anything I can do?
Anyone have a similar problem before? I tried searching on the net but can't really come up with anything.
I had that once before... just pull the battery...
Sent from my 4.1.57 rooted Atrix
Plug it into the charger that came with the phone. Leave it plugged in for a hour or so.
Pulling the battery should fix it.

I did that and the only thing that changed was it was flashing More LED colors instead of just red.
I'm going to try pulling the battery now. Hopefully its not too hard to do...
Does this happen often to you guys? Anything that causes it?

You know how to take the back case off right? What are you doing on XDA if you have never opened your phone before lol.
Software bugs are the likely cause. My screen locks up every once in a while and I am unable to turn it back on..battery pull always resolves it. When in doubt, pull the battery.
Pulled the battery and everything is fine. Thanks everyone.
You can probably delete this thread if you'd like.
If its a software bug, probably all the apps....right??

Possible bricked phone?

Installed CM7 on the EVO 4G three days ago and everything has been working fine. Until today when I went to turn my phone on, nothing happened. It vibrated like normal when its booting up, but nothing came up on the screen. Since then, nothing is happening at all. No charging light when plugged in, no sounds, no vibrations, nothing on the screen, not showing up on computer.
What do I try to get this thing to respond?
Did I cause this or is this a hardware problem that just happened to be about the same time I rooted this thing?

What method of rooting did you do? You try a battery pull and hold the power button down for 15 secs with the battery out and try to boot it.

A bricked phone will have a red triangle looking thing that won't go away lol. One that doesn't respond is usally spanked silly lol. Tho there may still be hope your's isn't try the pull method on batt.
I pulled the battery, held power button and volume down while plugged into wall, no response. Should I leave it unplugged and not try the volume button with it?

Try it without being plugged in and with battery out just hold power button down. Usally clears some big issues. If it doesn't work then it could be spanked. Bad unit.

Do you have an extra battery to try out, or temporarily borrow from a friend? Are you sure your battery was charged up, and it didn't die? It sounds odd that it just did that out of the blue. I'd be suspicious of.a dead battery. They can die to the point that they will not take a charge, and they're totally dead.

That's true lol SBC kernels can spank battery quicker. Id try new battery if it's not it then Id swap it out at sprint.
I do not have another battery to test with, I will have to go to a sprint store to do that. I dont have the unit with me to test tonight, but I will take these suggestions home with me. Thanks guys. Lets hope I didn't brick my girlfriends two week old EVO. She loved the Cyanogenmod that I put on there.

[Q] MT4G won't turn on

I was charging my phone on my computer when it just froze and turned off.
After that, I was trying to turn in back on, so I pressed the power button = nothing happened.
I then proceeded to charge it back on the usb charger, hoping that it will turn on or the led light will. Nothing happened.
I don't really know what happened with my phone.
Can someone help me please?
Might sound of obvious but your battery is in correctly right?

Yes it is. I don't know what just happened. I'm like really panicking right now.
Take everything out..battery, sim...leave it out for like 5-10 minutes then try it again.

I did that as well. I actually left it for 3 hours. Still, nothing happened.
Does the indication light come on when plugged to the charger?
Maybe a bad power button?
If the light comes when charging, I've read you can power on by holding down the home button.

No, it didn't. Its just dead.
I just returned it to Costco. Thankfully, they were lenient with the return policy because I missed it by 4 days and they still accepted.
Still, I don't have an idea on what happened.

[Q] Device not turning on

Please help, when i was flashing awesome beats, at the end of flashing my device's temperature is very high and then it turned off by itself. After that, my device wont turn on when i pressed the power button although my battery shows 50%+ before flashing.
I tried to plug the charge and the white battery charging indicators appeared but then the device went off again after a while. It happens repetitively, white battery charging shows up, and then turned off. When i tried to turn on the device while plugged into charger, a google logo appeared and then turned off. I can access the bootloader when pressing the vol down button while it's charging. Please help me, what's happening with my device? is it because the battery is fully depleted or maybe another issue? Thank you
Sorry for my bad language.

i've tried to flash the factory image but the problem still there. it wont turn on with charger unplugged, when it plugged, white battery charging indicator shows up, and then turned off with red led blink, after a while it turned on again with white battery charging indicator and again it turned off with red led blink, this happened repetitively. If i put my device in charge for a while, the red led wont blink again when it turned off after the white battery charging indicator, but it still wont boot..

Let it charge for couple hours before doing anything to it. How are you flashing the factory image? I recommend using one of the toolkit to guide you through.

Sometimes old school works.
Pull the battery and put it back in after 15 seconds

Thanks for all of your advices, i think i've already fix my phone since it can boot again and i successfully restore my nandroid backup. I did charge my device using 3rd party charger with 2.0A for a couple minutes and then unplug it and charge using my original charger. and guess what.. it works hhe. Thank you all :good:
Glad its alive again. Next time make sure to feed it well. Don't let the battery die to 0%. Recharge it once u reach 5% to 10%.

Thanks btw. the weird thing is, when i turned on the device, the battery is the same as just before it turned off. I think the battery is not depleted to 0%, maybe the device is malfunctioning or something.

[Q] Notification light stuck

Since this morning my notification light is stuck in solid green. I did not install any new apps, rebooting did not fix it. I even powered off the phone and the light remained on. Only removing the battery turns the green led off but as soon as I put the battery back the LED turns back on to green, even without starting the phone again.
Is it me or does this sound like a hardware fault...?
I have a I9505 running stock XXUDMH8, TPH csc. I am not rooted or in any way running a modified system. I have no apps dedicated to overriding LED settings installed.
Any ideas on what to try?
Thanks.
Try a factory reset from settings... but u will loose app data...

As the led stays on even with the phone off, do you believe this will help?
I am not rooted so doing a factory reset is a major thing as I have no backups.

I did a factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. My notification LED is still stuck in green. I guess it's off to warranty.... Not happy.

Yes, the LED stays on with the phone powered off. If I remove the battery the LED quickly fades away but starts back on as soon as I put the battery back in place.

Seems like a problem with the hardware. You need to return it back and most probably warranty will cover it... Try also to disable the notification led from the settings...
I have almost exactly the same problem. Today I left the phone charging overnight and in the morning the notification LED was bright blue. It stayed this way after I opened and read all texts and mails, it stayed regardless if the screen was on or off, it even stayed when I turned the phone off(!) and I only managed to put it out by pulling the battery - however it went back on immediately after replacing the battery. I turned off all notifications in settings, made sure I have plenty of free memory and card space etc. etc. The only thing I managed to do was to make it dim blue instead of bright blue after shutting down and booting up again. Now it lurks in the darkness, occasionally flashing, but mostly just glowing in blue.
The only ideas that I have left:
- some app update brought an unsolicited feature, but how to check it w/o wiping up everything? and how the hell does it stay lit after turning off the phone anyway?
- something went bad when charging - but these phones are supposed to have some protections from overcharging, so it shouldn't be a problem if it stays connected at 100%, right? besides, the phone works perfectly normal otherwise.
- I'm using an s-view cover, maybe it has something to do with it? I tried removing it to no avail - but maybe the magnets embedded in the cover contributed over time to the now-observed led malfunction?
@AlexandreT - do you use S-view? from what I understand, your problem also occurred after charging - did the phone stay on charger for long, eg. overnight? maybe you managed to solve the problem since?

I don't use S-view. The problem occurred after charging overnight. It was solved by replacing the whole motherboard under warranty.
