Compared the EVO next to the new iphone... and they dimmed the screen almost all the way. Ummm... How are you doing anyone a favor by comparing a dimmed phone to a phone on full brightness? At that screen size, I think they are going for a fictional effect with their screen pixel count. I highly doubt its THAT much better than the EVO... You can only see so many pixels..
You had respect for Engadget?

Yes, But not Gizmodo
yeah im not really surprised either!
yea im not surprised by there botched review of one sided bull crap. regardless of the resolution on the iphone the EVO has much more goign for it in my book mainly not At&t and of course Android!
lol engadget, I wonder how much they got paid to make the iphone look better. Also, I bet it just slipped their mind that the evo supports flash and the iphone doesn't.
Isn't engadget and AOL company, that should say enough about them to not always trust their reviews.
LOL...whiners...why do you care about engadget...focus on what you know you like
Engadget had a positive review for the Evo 4G
from what i read engadget is really favorable towards anything apple/iphone.
Even though i think the new iphone is great, the evo seems to inch ahead with better features.
I did a review of the Evo earlier today and tried to get people to understand that the iPhone is an awesome phone, but limited by the network. With AT&T supporting it, you are going to be very limited. In my opinion what makes the Evo so great...is the network. Without the network the Evo would be another smart phone with a slick UI.

The iPhone is also limited by apple unless you jailbreak. (by this I mean the app store and what they accept or dont accept)
in all fairness engadget usually isnt that bad, although i agree that that comparison pic of the iphone left a bad taste in my mouth.
also, engadget does have an apple free version for those that really hate apple
Engadget has always favored Apple. They always seem to throw slick little comments after a what seems to be a good review to kind of downplay the article.

and for what it's worth, while they tend to favor the iphone (mostly topolsky) engadget's reviews of android phones are typically spot on. if anything they seem to have an excessive hardon for webOS.
in any case engadget for news and ars for editorials kick the **** out of gizmodo
I like Engadget, but they are biased. Look at how many IPhone articles they had after the announcement. I believe it held 5 headlines/stories on the front page alone. Silly.
yea.. I would agree that engadget is full of apple fan boys
in a comparison chart I saw that it advertised the iphone as having wireless n capability.. I thought I read on here that the EVO has that too, but the current software doesn't support it.. maybe froyo will?
wow, engadgets coverage of the iphone 4 keynote was ridiculous. they posted all the info in one post, then broke every piece into 10 different posts so that apple fanboys can read that many more headlines.
I am planing on getting the Dell Venue Pro. But Dose it have stereo speakers ?!
According to all the video previews I have seen it does. They are doing a poor job of showing this phone off though. Losing potential buyers I think
Looked for any infos about the device but i could not find anything about it
that is really sad. I do not know why dell is not putting it in their website

I think they are not yet ready with the device yet. If you watch all the hands-on videos, you will notice that they are all given by Dell PR people and repeating the same tape over and over again. Also, no one has yet published a proper review of the device. I think they haven't shipped out any review units either.

Yes I agree completely. That's why I worded preview and not review. Wish they would get with it. Wonder why they are lagging behind the other phones announced.
Also there late to the party makes me wonder about after sale support as far as updates and what not. I may just get the HTC Hd7 on the 8th and pick this one on down the road

Dell has good customer support infrastructure and updates will be handled by Microsoft. So I think it will be alright.
HD7 viewing angle/color fading is just too disappointing. After using AMOLED screen on Nexus one, it is just too painful to go back to ordinary LCD screens.
Oh okay that's good to hear. I am concerned about the screen on the hd7 also. Some vids it looks nice though. Is it the same screen as the Evo? I know my Evo is really washed compared to my Vibrant and even the IP4 I had

Yea, but the reviews also say this phone leaves them for dead, in build quality and other areas...it seems to be pretty solid form all the reviews I've read so far.
I'm pretty sure you will see a review of the phone on Engadget soon b/c on the Engadget show the MS director showed of all the WP7 phones and I'm more than likely sure that Engadget got a review unit.

DELL are changing tack from being a budget box-pusher to something more upmarket. The Venue Pro is one of the first products to reflect their new strategy, hence why the build quality is so good.

That was pretty crap. Nothing but an excuse to jam as many referral links and adverts on to the page as possible.
Besides that Galaxy Note is quite future-proof in terms of connectivity. Samsung Galaxy Note allows you to embrace 4G LTE with transfer rate up to 21Mbps, should your country has it.

This part is misleading though, in the Note's current form (with 1.4Ghz Exynos Samsung made chip) it does NOT support 4G/LTE. Only when it gets a Qualcomm chip (which is slower than the Exynos will it support 4G/LTE.
Loaded with the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip is likely what will be coming to AT&T and others in the US.
Question is, the Note has been noted to have some lag under certain conditions, so where it is present will that lag increase with the Qualcomm since it is a slower chip? And do you want a slower chip just to gain the ability to use 4G/LTE? One would have to decide for themselves considering of course such factors as...is 4G/LTE even available where they are and is it something they would just HAVE to have considering wifi and 3G in many cases are just fine.
Also, will the upcoming 1.5 Exynos support 4G/LTE and become available anytime soon in the Note.
For me, I want the Exynos in my Note, so within the next few weeks (barring some earth shattering revelation regarding a new, unlocked version I might have to wait a month for) it will be mine, then you all can tell me how to grow roots and do mods and such things.
Now that these phones have reached such heights of technology (not to mention...price) they should really make it like a computer where (at least for awhile) we can purchase and install ourselves a new CPU but I won't hold my breath.

Yes. You are right. I have said this before in one of your videos & I will say it again... Your review has got to be the most honest, detailed & comprehensive report on this phone anywhere on the Internet.

I wrote a review on my blog why Atrix 4G still worth buying.
Meeting expectation & meeting money, the two main factors to buy a cell phone. In this modern era, smartphone has become an integral part of our life. Many think that we are now in a post PC world (I don’t yet think so!). However, buying a smartphone needs a lot of homework (if your budget is low).
My Motorola Atrix 4G
VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL
When I was thinking to buy an smartphone, the first & foremost thing I had to think that I need to get an handset that’ll support for the next 1/1.5 years. However, I researched pretty much before buying & on that time within my budget Motorola Atrix 4G was the best budget phone. So I made the choice & bought my first smartphone from Motorola. I say after using nearly 7 months, I had made a great decision to buy this set! (Think! I’m telling this when there is Lumia 900, S2, S3, One X already released & Lumia 920, iPhone 5 in the horizon). I’ll tell you why this Atrix 4G still kicking ass!
Motorola Atrix 4G: Killer configuration with fingerprint reader
Remember when the Atrix 4G was launched in CES with the Dual Core processor? Man it’s the first Android that packs Dual Core processor! Just like S3 packed quad core for the first time! On that time, nearly every major reviewers like phonedog, phonearena, engadget, cnet – everyone took Atrix 4G pretty seriously wrote their review! Surprisingly, each one of them gave 4.0+ stars. You should’ve known already that it’s one of the best smartphone, ever Motorola produced!

Although it does have quite possibly the worst manufacturer support known to man (and would be basically useless without this community - we're still being held back by Moto on having proper ICS where all the other Teg2 devices now have it working properly), the build quality is not so hot (My Atrix is all creaky after about a year, and the USB port has become very flaky. My old hTCs are, as far as I can tell, indestructible.) and the screen is awful.
On the other hand, I do prefer the 4" form factor for a high-end phone by some margin though, these new ones are just too f**ing big and basically unusable one-handed. Still, I like HD displays, so I may have to put up with at least 4.3"... Plus, I'm glad Moto went for a decent capacity battery over an anorexic looking device. I'm actually quite impressed by the battery life of the Atrix running JB/ICS, when I can get the damn thing to charge.

Atrix 4g released in February of 2011, not a 2010 smartphone. Atrix 4g not first dual core smartphone, LG Optimus 2x was.
Otherwise, yes, the Atrix 4g is a pretty respectable phone. Motorola really tried to pull out all the stops with it. It had multiple docks including the lapdock, had/has specs comparable to many mid-range phones a year and a half later, etc. I wish companies would try to do this more often. We haven't had Samsung do anything special - they've fallen into release a top of the line spec phone once a year and go from there. The Note is great, but they didn't promote it as well as they should have. Samsung and HTC and LG really need to make their phones common names. Spend money getting your name out there - it clearly works.
Atrix is the second bestieee.

I'm happy with my Atrix, mostly due to the community.
/I could be happier though
The Atrix is still the most innovative and coolest super phone that I ever had (what other phone has a fingerprint scanner, which phone came with higher resolution than WVGA at that time?) and I'd happily recommend it if it was still available on the market!
Sent from that Atrix... Motorola, where's my ICS?!
I would give away the fringerprint scanner if it meant faster ICS.
I used that thing 3 times. Enough to see that it works when it wants to. If I have to apply myself and make the perfect slide everytime I need to unlock my phone then it's not a security feature, it's a boring one...

The Atrix's screen is only really 960x540 in luminance, if you only ever watch old black and white movies or only ever read text in shades of grey/white/black it's great. Introduce chroma, and it's really not the equivalent of 518,400 pixels any more (in fact, it has a lot less chroma resolution than a WVGA non-PenTile screen). I guess it's better than RGBG pentile like non-plus AMOLEDs (which can only render green at full resolution), but it's still crap.
I've not played with an HD PenTile screen, but going by the Atrix and Desire, I'd never have one again anyway.

No....it is not that worthy...
The build quality is an issue only if you don't use a case
and the phone is still smaller and easier to hold than all the other phones even WITH a case on it
anyone who sells this phone short either has money to blow and doesn't mind the $200-$300 extra for the "superphones" or don't recognize great tech when they see it.
I guess this would be a great to ask if the Atrix 4G is still a good phone.
You see I live in Brazil and have an iPhone 3G, and my parents live in the USA, and I want to send them some money to buy me a smart phone, the Atrix 4G seems like a REALLY good phone, and I am a phone addict, meaning that my iphone is Jailbroken and unlocked, I know all the ups and downs and etc of Cydia, so off course I would probably root and apply a custom ROM to the Atrix 4G.
On my iphone I mainly play games like Angry Birds and Where's my Water - so I guess the Atrix 4G is a good gaming phone right?
Other than that I would probably use it as an eReader when I am out of reach to my Nexus 7.
On Amazon there is this http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Atrix...words=Atrix+4G
So I guess when it says unlocked it SHOULD work at Brazil (I am always afraid of it not being unlocked to worldwide carriers and just US carries.)
Thanks in advance
probably they want better performance
for the cheaper price.

I can't think of a single Android app I use that runs faster on a device with or without NEON. I'm sure there are some. But I wouldn't exactly call it a major failing of Tegra 2, or even consequential for most people.
And if you think the heat is bad on the Atrix, try an international SGS3 or One X running a game. Then you'll know the meaning of 'hot'

It was a little frustrating in that the article didn't list the site where the device is being sold through. If anyone knows, update this post, please.
Oh, and this was part the article outlining the perks of the higher end model:
"The high-end version of Mate7 is of amber golden and adopts a combination of 3G RAM and 32G ROM, it is also equipped with the exclusive Huawei gold membership privilege services card, the value-added services include exclusive service hotline, a boot gift bag of Huawei mobile phone application market, free of charge to use a 160G online storage in 2 years, this phone was formally on sale in Huawei mall on September 12th."

It does serve one purpose. To show how horribly designed the iPhone 6 'Plus' is. Look at those ridiculous top and bottom bezels. You would think that since Apple prides itself on having 'premium' designs for their products, they would have figured out a way to make a 5.5" phone smaller than a 6" phone. Hell, even the Note 3/4 is smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus, and they both have larger screens.
But what can you do, right. The lines will be around the block for it. The revolution has begun.
This one is kinda weak...
Not a very thorough review by any standards, but still, it highlights the very decent performance of the AM7. The pic at the top of the article doesn't match the AM7 though. I guess they just used a stock Huawei pic.
