[Q] SD Card change - How to keep data - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi
I flashed my Hd2 with the 1.4 Cordroid rom on nand.
To do this I used a small SDcard and now wish to change it for a biger one.
How can i proceed without reflashing following the entire proces ?
Thanks all droidhd2 dev and users !

Just clone your card.
Or just copy the content of your old SD to the new one. Just make sure u copy all also the hidden files/folders. The best way to do it is with some file manager like Total Commander or similar.
It should work.

Dear confused nani,
SD android was so yesterday, wouldn't you want to have hd2 boot straight into android like how window os? It's called NAND android. Unless you like window 6.5 os or dual os then you should gone SD android. I'm throwing this out there just in case you don't know. If you decided to go NAND, follow my sig for the best pure latest android.

Is this 2.13 TMOUS Stock ROM?
I would suggest you to use Custom ROM that is compatible with SD Android. You can try Platinum Series by Laurentius26 (find the link in WM 6.5 ROM Development forum!). I used this rom for dual boot with SD Android (American Android AOSP)
To do that, you have to install HSPL 4 and Choose SPL 2.08 HSPL.
Do Task 29.
Flash a Custom ROM.and do HARD RESET. Let it fully boot and do Soft REset.
Place your SD Android Folder to the ROOT of your FORMATTED Micro SD Card.
Remember that the name of the folder must be "Android" (without quote). Few SD Android ROM has different folder name, so you might need to rename it.
Now within Android ROM folder, tap CLRCAD and tap HARET
It will boot to ANdroid. Keep in mind it will take around 20 Minutes. Be patient
If you still have a problem or need more detail, you can PM me
Good luck

yes its a 2.13 tmo usa stock rom...i will try this i just hope it works. thanx silverwind
first of all you needn't do a hspl to run an android sd build. first choose a build from the android sd build threads. i can suggest americandroid if 'sense' isn't so important for you. After you download the rom, unzip and find android folder in it. copy it to your hd2. tap clrcad then haret. first boot may take up to half an hour.

[Q] CWR

Hi all. Please forgive the noob questions.
Question #1. I was under the impression that CWR is better than DAF because it allows you to have different ROMS on your sd card and thus you can change your ROM as you like. My question is then if I have to task 29 and reformat and repartition my card as the developers request, then how is this possible as I would be wiping my sd card clean everytime I do this.
Question #2. Must I run the DAF(recovery) prior to every change in ROM? Also what is the differecnce between the Recovery and partitioning your card. Again I am not experienced even though I flash all the time.
The reason I ask is that I would like to change ROMS and wonder if I can just go from my cureent ROM, reboot and install from zip a totally different one that I have on my card. Thanks in advance.
you dont have to task29 every time., i have never used task29 and never had any issues with repationing or installing roms
the repartitionining is a pain but thats mainly only if you are going from 1 type to a different type e.g a sense rom to a cm7 or miui rom

Hi,
As Richy99 says ,task 29 is not necessary for every change of ROM.
To simplify matters, ksubedi has developed THIS TOOL (Don't forget to thank him)

So I can just repartition the card and not have to run Recovery(DAF in the rar)? Then istall from zip? I am going from a sense to MUI.

Hi,
You only need to partition the sd card once.
But the ROM system needs its own partition(CWM).
This partition is dependent on the ROM .
The [OP] should give the size of the partition, depending also on EU or TMOUS phones.
Again, once you know the partition size, use THIS TOOL to make it easy.

Thanks again for helping out. So I would need a comp to always run the recovery. Is it possible from the phone itself or am I just hoping and dreaming? You did clear up one thing for though. That both the card and rom need a partition with the ROM partition being the recovery file (DAF)in the rar.. Thanks.

do you use winmo, and which rom do you want to flash, and what steps do you make?
Yes, i am using a winmo, HTC HD2
i tried many roms, and i am talking about the ROM, not android.
and on each ROM i tried to load different Android, but it still
do not work.........stuck on a screen every time
Basically i use "energy rom", http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
and tried with American Android ((( this one worked on a first sd -card)))
steps from a beginning : i flash rom on my phone, after hard reset, i flash it from my PC. then i copy the "Android" folder on sd card of my phone, then with "file explorer" i enter the "android" file ((for example - AMERICAN ANDROID)) , i choose CLRCAD, (nothing happens) and then i choose the HARET and loading begins. after that just a screen with HTC logo, a black one. i waited for 20 min, and more - nothing changes. (( tried to reset and load again, same screen, no progress....))
i just have no idea what else to do....
been searching for solution for few days now.
some say that updating the rom helps, but done that.
When i were using winmo i were formatting my sd on such a case. If it doesn't work i was formatting winmo too.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
ye....... the problem is that i done that all.........
just weird.

for example - AMERICAN ANDROID....i take it from your writing.you must put the folder Android to sd card not american android folder. i mean
sd card/android/clrcad then haret. not sd card/american android/android/clrcad
of course, i understand it.
i read manual for 100 times now, just to be sure i am doing things right.
i know the basics.
so lets see :
format to phone and sd card - checked
updated rom - checked
different sd card - checked
different rom with different android - checked
if i think about it know - phone is not working that's why i can't install android.
but - every rom is working good and android did worked once on a old sd card.
so have no idea what to do next.
at first i wanted to copy files from sd card where Android did worked, so there were file named "data.img" , couldn't copy it. don't know why.
so, in order for android to work on a phone now , it must create same file now. maybe card is somehow protected and doesn't allow phone to do it................. but i can copy all other stuff on it.
my knowledge and fantasy just ends here, but it kills me that such a simple thing doesn't work.
and if it doesn't work on an old card either, so can't figure out what causing this problem.
i can lastly say: download a new copy of american android.wipe everything from your sd.unrar american android in your pc.find the android folder.copy android folder to your sd via usb or card reader.clrcad then haret. the rom creates a new data.img in first boot.this rom may take half an hour to load. because i use it also. sorry if i'm unable to help
i had the same problem installing AmeriCanAndroid. it seemed like you did everything right from what i could tell anyway. i would try a different sd build to see if thats the problem.

@angel182
At the time i was a bit of a noob still am really but when i installed a new sd build i think it solved my problem. if i remember correctly i may have even tried a different winmo rom (omega) which may have helped as well. i really cant be to sure because its been some time now & my memory aint what it use to. lol.
I will say that if you ever want to go to a nand version and dont like it for what ever reason you can always switch back. I'm sorry I couldnt of been more help.

Whole CoreDroid1.7 is crashing on HD2

Hello there,
first of all excuse me if some of my phrases are wrong....
I use CoreDroid 1.7 NAND on my HTC HD2
I installed it normally and i worked 1 month with it everything okay till today.
I downloaded some apps etc...
after a day i opened a game and it didnt start (black scrreen) i wait for more than 5 minutes but nothing happen so i put out the Battery of my phone.
After i switched it on The First screen of CoreDroid appears. It asked what my provider is etc.. the normal questions and than it sets up the phone again.
After this i saw all my App are missing.
If i check with the Filemanager the Apps are still in Folders.
my contacts are gone. i had to connect with Internet on my HTC account to gett'em back.
And very important : there is a Message on my Phone :
=> Storage is almost full make sure that your phone has more than 512KB free space <=
THis is happening the 2nd time now. Last time i deleted anyway all to upgrade to 1.7 But this time i dont want to loose all my settings.
I hope i could describe my Problem well....
Also some informations for a better solution:
- Everytime i rebott it the first screen appears.
- On Settings my SD card appears.
- Message: Storage almost full.
I dont think the SD card is OutofOrder cuz it is shown there Free space etc ...
i use an 8GB SD card.
Thank you, i appreciate any help and if someone can ask others please do it i ust need my phone asap .
Thank you guys.
Oh Cmon Guys, please help me has someone connections to Sergio . ???
//PUSH //
I don't know itf it will help, as I'm no user of this particular distribution. Here's some generic solutions:
- Coredroid seems a big build, so it would be advisable if you create an ext partition in your SD. You can do that from the recovery app or rom manager. Usually a 1GB partition is more than enough. Be aware that this procedure will erase your SD card, so backup!
- Try to make a clean flash of your phone. Task29 to flip the bits to 0, proper repartition, etc... Before, that meant to download 3 or 4 separate apps but nowadays you can do that from a single tool. Search for HD2 Toolkit in the NAND Forums.
- While doing the clean repartition, make sure to follow the needed requirements of your particular distro. Coredroid (as most sense builds) doesn't seem to follow the standard 150 partition, and it may not fit there.
Hope it helps.
Hey thanks for ur help, i already have installed my CoreDroid on an ext partition. and Flashed with Task29 after 1 week the problems discribed came.

Ok bro... My turn.... have you checked out our thread or read the posts at all? There are plenty of solutions to the problem...
1. Read the threads....
2. Ask in a PM someone like Aortega, Tigermoto, Ljjehl, or maybe Ray Heath, or DaDoctor, or even Sergio!
Please remember for every problem thereĀ“s a solution....
Hey thanks first of all that u take time.
After copying the CWM folder to my PC i format the SDcard (8GB => 6,4 GB shown cuz 1GB ist EXT)
I performed Task29 and now my phone wont boot but it stucks on the White Screen with green HTC letters
my PC doesnts show me my SDCard
i dont know the enxt step
Okay, i installed The magLRD but now a new problem occurs on AD-Recovery i cant go in...
=> No boot sources ( error)

there are a few process that you need to do, as of now you have WP7 which took up almost 99% of your SD card, so you must process that card so that you can either put an Android SD or Native SD, I hope your card is big enough to make other partitions.
Try the links below & use what ever you need, BTW if you made a mistake in the process you can't/ won't access your WP7 anymore
But you can make a back up image of your existing WP7 SD card to another card just in case.

So if this is possible would it be possible to triple boot, wp7, stock android, and android with htc sense?
Also, is the android installation on the video the same for every other android rom such as this http://www.ihelplounge.com/how-to-flash-mode-hd2-htc-android-with-htc-sense-35-custom-rom/ for example?

You've chosen a NAND ROM, you need to choose an SD ROM.
