the latest adw on top of stock froyo
Press and hold on Home Screen > Custom Shortcut > Activities > "Pick your Activity"
When you do that, IF you can create a custom shortcut to that activity, then it should be listed there. You may need to look for headings like "com.motorola" and expand it to see the subheadings, so it may take some indepth searching around.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been answered, I did search, I swear!
I've heard I should be able to edit the dock icons other than the app/home icon.. For the love of God I can't figure out how!
Anyone want to enlighten me?
EDIT:
Turns out they called it 'apps' and 'toolbar':
t=726399
go into the app draw > menu > edit then drag and drop to the toolbar.

Is this in the regular settings menu?
I opened up my applications and then selected the context button and changed the type to custom, and then selected edit.

Then in applications menu>edit

open app draw > menu > view type > customizable grid > take you back to app draw.
menu > edit > takes you back to app draw > press and hold icon to move it or drag to the tool bar.
Shooooo. That's the antonym of intuitive.
FYI to the OP and to others who may not have know, this and a lot more is in the sticky.

OMG Thank you so much. I've looked every where, Glad I finally found this thread. It is over a year old but works the same on the Sgs2 ...... Many Thanks
Within the applications panes of TouchWiz(3), is there a way to re-order application icons alphabetically if you have manually ordered them whilst in edit mode?
Display them as a list. The list is shown A-Z I believe. Or use ADW.Launcher instead as I do.
I take that's a no then...
inside the apps menu, press the menu button then select edit.
now u can sort them the way u want "hold on the icon u wanna move till it come up then move it"
to move the icon to a different page, while holding it, drag it to the edge of the page, and it will automatically jump to the next screen
This is what I do in the launcher port:
Settings > Application > Manage Applications > (Filter All) > choose Twlauncher > Clear Data
When you return to the launcher it will re-cache data and present the app drawer alphabetically. Downside is you lose all saved homescreen icons and widgets.
kenshinta, that did it, thanks for that.
To the others, yep, I know how to move the icons around, I was after a way to reset them to alphabetical. The clear data tip did it, reset the launcher to default.
good tip kenshinta thanks!

up until this post i have hated touchwiz, now i i can change the 4 at the bottom!!! this is amazing
Or alternatively you can use gtg465's modded launcher. The downside is you lose the number in the message, emails and the Samsung app market.

I want to create a settings shortcut that goes to the settings menu, but whenever I try to, it navigates to the actual settings and forces me to choose a sub-setting.

Go into the app drawer, long press on settings and drag it to the homescreen? Or long press on the homescreen, add an app and add the settings app? You're going to add>shortcut>settings shortcut which requires a specific setting. You need the actual settings program.
It depends on your home launcher. I know with adw pro all I do is tap and hold on empty space on home screen. Then select create custom activity and choose from there. But what you wanna look for in your home screen is to add an activity. Activities are sub classes of programs. So you would pick the settings app then select the activity of said app which you want.

Yes, to add the settings app to the homescreen you drag it out from the app drawer.

I think, from reading the OP, they are trying to access a sub setting directly from the home screen.

Nah it's the opposite, he's being forced to access a sub-setting when he just wants to launch general settings

His problem is he is being forced to select a sub-setting, which he does not want. He just wants a link to the settings app - from there he can access all the sub-settings.
Either way though, all options are now listed for him.
I'm trying to create a shortcut to open up the Recent Call Log versus opening up the dialer. I'm using Apex Launcher and searched through activities, but can't seem to find the one that leads to the Recent Call Log. Any suggestions?

Thanks. That activity brings up the recent call log selection screen (where I can check recent calls to delete or edit). I'm looking for the recent call log screen where I can simply swipe to right to dial or left to message.
I can use your activity and simply press bback button after it is launched, but am hoping for a more direct method.

Oh OK.
Open Activities > Contacts (same place as before) and scroll all the way down to 5 green phone icons in a row. Find Phone > RecentCallsListActivity (3rd phone icon from the top), that should do it.

Hmm... Make sure to look under Activities > Contacts > Phone and not under Activities > Phone.
Carrier shouldn't matter, but a launcher might. You may want to try Nova Launcher just to see if this option is available.
Also, there is always an app for everything: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.erikofsweden.erikutil

I don't see the Phone submenu under Activities>Contancts. Tried looking for it with Xshortcuts too.
I've tried that app out, but there's a significant lag opening Recent Calls.
Thanks for you help and info.
How to set to get to the menu using gestures? Is there any apk that supports this without root
I use nova launcher and this let me set up double tap to open settings. Hope that helps. [emoji6]
Ok, I also have Nova, and can be set at a single click, or in gestes?

Nova settings - gestures & inputs - select gesture then select app settings.
I think we're talking about another menu. I mean, it's marked on the photo
Sorry I can't read that.
He's talking about this menu button here http://androidapphut.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/action-bar-1-680x322.jpg
I use LMT to add it back to my phone since Google has seemed to remove it from Android
This apk. Work in one plus 6t?

Yes, that is what my screenshot is from. You can check out the thread for LMT here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I think some of the features work even without root.
The idea is very good but no root is not useful. In addition, there is no desired menu. It's on your photo, but I've installed apps and it's not there!

You need to configure the buttons you want. It is all done from within the app. Please don't claim something does not work if you never even looked at the settings.
