[Q] Question about RAM - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hey i have a question about the ram, how many ram memory do you have? because my htc hd2 tmobile only use 250mb :S i use multitasking pro and in the avalaible memory said:
available:250mb
total:411mb
it isnt supossed to be 576MB?? and why i only have 250mb available?
aaah and i have this rom HyperDroidGBXv7

You only have 411mb of RAM shown in Android. The rest is used by system.

oooh thanks but another question why i only have 250 available of the 411mb..? where is the rest of the ram?

I have the same issue, with less memory. In ANdroid : 283MB available. Where did the rest go. I use NAND MDJ's CyanogenMod 7. Maybe I did something wrong on installation?

The missing ram out of the 411 available is again being used by the system.

It's misleading. It should say "576 megs of *shared* ram". Most of the ram you don't have access to is used by the radio, and other system parts.

Hybrid NAND Android and WP7 ROM?

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a NAND ROM that includes both Android and WP7 installed to the NAND and partition the SD card for storage? This I believe could be possible if the NAND is partitioned correctly to allow them both to run and then you could select them in the MAGLDR!
I would like some dev feedback on this as I would try building a ROM myself but I don't know the workings of the partitioning system in MAGLDR well enough to try! I have posted this in this section as Android NAND ROM builders should know enough about the MAGLDR's partition system to know if it is possible as I love android but would also like to use WP7 as a secondary NOT primary OS!
Thanks in Advance for any help!
Wrong place to ask this. You should have asked this in WP7 Q&A section.

I've seen that but what I want is to boot Android and WP7 from NAND NOT run android from the SD Card like that guy done because that makes android run slow and I want android as my primary OS!
I know that wp7 only uses 512mb of the Nand on the T-Mobile US HD2s, so if we can somehow install and nand android build on the other 512mb, that would be great. I hope a way to do this is found.

+1 Best of both worlds.. who needs 1 nand os when we can have 2

that's what i was wondering since i have learnt wp7 uses only half of nand memory... do u know what happens to the rest of memory ? if the other half is left avaible and free by wp7 then technically it should be just a matter of finding the right partion method for what it takes to have wp7 nand & android nand both together in Leo1024Tmous hardware

Actually I think it would work on 512mb HD2's too since WP7 only takes up like 170mb of the NAND and doesn't even use the rest for storage if there is no SD which is strange... my phone reports 160mb used and 5mb available so it would easily allow an android ROM to fit in the rest and the SD can be storage for both...
Any Android Chefs have any ideas or feedback
I was just wondering if any android chefs could enlighten me on the partition system used in magldr?
Thanks.

I think it uses the whole 512... if it only reports 165 mb when you don't use sd, then the other 347mb is used by the os and just isn't reported, i'm pretty sure. Like with winmo, it doesn't show all the rom memory your device has, but it's being used still. I could be wrong.
Wrong fourm to ask this ****. the rules in the stickys are clear.

Sorry if it's in the wrong thread but I wanted it to be a developer thread so thought here would be the right place as it's Android development. If I'm wrong a mod can move it I guess.
Oh and considering the WP7 Image only takes up like 170mb as the image then from experience of building WinMo ROMs on the diamond it normally stayed around the same size after flashing, normally no more than 20mb more... it's not like WP7 is a big OS or anything from how it looks anyway...

From the little I know I think the biggest potential issue currently is magldr only supports 8 yaffs2 partitions. http://htc-linux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Leo/Magldr While that sounds like plenty, I believe android takes up 6 or so and I don't know how many wp7 takes. I don't see why they couldn't add support for more partitions in the future but right now that's an issue. Personally, I want winmo and wp7 on nand and everything else on SD for the ultimate multibooing experience.

Even I have been thinking about the same. The MAGLDR just has fixed address stored to boot NAND Android and NAND WP7. Can we somehow get to know what can be the address of the end of WP7 so that atleast in a TMOUS HD2 we can utilize the leftover NAND to install Android.
Me I want Android in Nand and everything else is SD - WP7, winmo, Meego, Ubuntu, Yellow Dog, Kitchen sink - all in Sd. Give me that and I will marry you!

He has every need to point out whenever possible to people that they are posting in wrong section. Its you who are been an ass.
@ OP
It would probably be possible but it would require a new MAGLDR.

[Q] Why Sense NAND build need Ext for EU?

as written on the topic, I was thinking why don't just put all the /system all on NAND, why do we need SD-EXT??
if it is making insufficent memory for data, can't we just use data2sd then??
correct me if i'm wrong
Eu models have 512 rom. Tmous have 1024. The higher sense rom it is. It needs more memory. In most situations u cant pack sense rom in 512mb. So u use SD-EXT. One catchy thing is that u need to format sd-ext (properly) or u wont be able to boot rom. There are roms that dont need sd-ext but they are not sense. Sense is memory eater but makes phone more user friendly. U get it now?

well .... you can use my build , it doesn't need ext! joking..
sense roms contain a lot of eye candy !! !!
and most of the space on the ext partition is required for the weather videos !!
rest of the space for all htc stuff like htc hub, peep and all !! !!

372MB RAM

Hi,
how about the "372MB RAM issue"? Is it normal or wrong flashed radio?
Thanks
Does it sound normal to you???
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
What's wrong? In flashing process to get WP7 - user needs flash radio 2.15.50.xx(for 576MB RAM), but after flash WP7 ROM it shows in HW information only 372MB RAM. Is it normal?(thus for all of users...)

This is your universal answer, isn't it?
I tested more than one SanDisk card(32GB UHS-I, 32GB class4, 16GB class2) - same result. ROMs by ansar and PDA...
Anyway, my HD2 works perfectly fine.
Does your "System information" shows 576MB RAM?

is not universal answer.. is answer for your problem... and is result based in year and half using WP7 ROM's
almost all problems in HD2 is related to sdcards.... sdcards is used for WP memory and if not working, in sys info show only nand ram available... that is way you have only 576 mb RAM...
I was only joking
Ok and what should be displayed? (576MB, 1024MB or what?)
btw: I used app "System information"
ok maybe i give you wrong info (combination of alcohol and women )
under total storage must shown sdcard space...
under HW info is normal to show less if you flashed custom WP7 ROM.....
me also shows me 372MB RAM but it is important that everything goes well

Are we talking about same thing RAM=System memory for CPU operations(for running apps, OS, etc.)
Total system storage is normal for me(with 32GB card i've 29GB).
and what is problem?
RAM is 512MB.
u get 327MB cuz the rest is system reserved.

Looking Like Your Device Have Some Kind Of Viruses Attack Try Reflashing Stock Rom Using EDL Mode May Fix Your Issue..

Please provide screenshots from where the system is showing you just 1 GB of RAM.
If the reboots and "bluescreens" are frequent, maybe your device has hardware problems (faulty motherboard, bad storage IC's, water damage, something like this). If this is the case, you'll need to take it to repair service or replace some components.
Good luck.
Look on photo
Must be ROM issue. Use nougat/oreo ROMs

Then there is something wrong with the device. Either try fastboot flashing or approach the service center
