[Q]Using Setcpu makes battery drain impossible - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

So im using Imika's DHD RAM,and battery drainage was ok, around 4mah in standby..
But i had problems with lagging notification window (sometimes when i try to roll it down, it is lagging for like 6-7 seconds.. it often happends wheb i recieve SMS or when i have missed call), and i decided to install setcpu..
Firtst I have clocked it minimum (around 1.1 ghz) and put govn on interactive.. I had between 54 and 160 mah in standby.. Then i put default maximum value, and interactive also, but drainage was still between 54-160 mah..
So is there anything i can do, or any solution for my notification window problem, other than SetCpu?
Thanks in advance

Did you make any system data restores? That messes things up. Try reflashing and don't use setcpu and se what happens. I use 245 min 1190 Max on interactive with 245 min and Max profile for when the screen is off.
I personally got tired of sense based builds because they were sluggish and used a lot of the phones resources. I think stock or cm6/7 builds are the way to go for the best speed and battery usage
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Yes i did made system restores,.. trough CWM.. but i need those restores.. CWM is all about that.. I dont want to start from 0 when im flashing new rom.. Maybe its wrong opinion, but i really dont want to.. Ill stick with non SetCpu user.. I can handle that notification bar lag.. or i think i can
Thanks for reply mate.. (thanks button hit)

No problem. I see... I just restore my data and start from scratch with my other stuff. What're things you need to restore from system?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Well i dont think we are talking about same thing.. I just did CWM backup/restore.. Nothing else

Go into the advanced options and only select data next time. You'll keep your apps and only lose your settings and other small stuff

U mean advanced options in CWM backup ?
Thanks for reply

Hello, glad you did the /init fix but your the first person to say you still have lag..I use auto memory and i noticed an improvement straight away...i set it to aggressive and then slid the bottom three....
Hidden Application
Content Provider
Empty Application
back down to half way so they are on 70mb
The top three are set as follows..
Foreground - 6mb
Visible Application - 12mb
Secondary Server - 16mb
Now press apply .... You need to be rooted for this (which Im sure you know) but thought I'd say for anyone else looking at this thread.
Now I cant say these are 100% the best settings but for me the phone is flying with 0 lag and these settings seem about right... I found set on the aggressive setting some apps were closing way to early..
Let me know if this helps...

By the way, can you tell me what app you use to change the above setting?? It's not that I have the lag issue, but if there is anything I could try to tweak for better speed, I am definitely interested.

Its the auto memory manager by mad squrriel ...free on the android market.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I have tried all of the best memory managers on market, sure it feels a littlebit faster when you start to use it, but after a while it doesnt feel good any more.
I dont know if it gets better after this "lagfix" with the usb debug, but it's still appkillers, and with froyo 2.2 i have learned that the system works best without any of those appkillers on market or so called memory enhancement programs. Just my experience.
Battery seems to be getting hammered since installing it and using 'aggressive', not certain if it's this though.

Hear reports that the new its update giveaway the 100% CPU usage problem back even with debugging on. Is this true?

Seems to do the trick for me! (so far anyways!)
had the same 100% cpu after OTA problem, tried almost everything im aware of (ending some tasks, reboots, unistalling apps) but nothing helped me,ended up with factory reseting twice and i got it solved for now.
been monitoring using system pannel and now its more stable.
No such issue for me with the update once everything completed syncing.

I just went into stock application manager, force stopped everything i wasnt interested in (sense, friendstream, facebook, stocks, etc). My cpu useage dropped from 100% to more typical 3 to 20% and has been fine since.
As i stopped so many applications i dont know which was the culprit.

worked for me too, closed htc sense dashboard and another sense app trought the stock app manager...

I have killed the "ImmediateModeService" and now the CPU time is normal.
Which app is this? Someone has a solution for this error? Because always when i restart my DHD the same error comes back.

Me too! just went to settings - accounts and sync - htc sense - remove account.
CPU was back down to under 20%. Added htc sense again and still got nice low CPU usage.... sense still doesnt work to make the phone ring or find its location but happy that the phone works properly again.
Glad I got that sorted, thanks for the tip!!
It worked for me too. Thanks a lot gays.

I can confirm the 100% cpu problem has not returned for me. I suspect that the update did not take into account the current sync status variables. If your phone was in a certain sync state when the ota applied it got stuck in a loop. Force stopping clears all temporary variables so returns the phone to the environment in which htc tested the update. So...the problem should not teturn if u force stop the right app. Similarly a hard reset should do the trick.

Downloading m6 / m6 discussion

OK id like to make this a discussion page for the m6 rom by mur4ik
so far i only have one problem for such a beautifully presented and polished rom why does the camera still look like something off windows 95 ???? just saying
any bugs or bits or glitches etc etc please discuss them here as im sure at some point they will be brought to mur4iks attention
Rebooting and freezing at times i have a 16gig micro sd anyway to utilise this for ram?
Anonymouse statistics freezes and forces cyanogenmod settings to close ill keep reporting these bugs as i find them

Well that sucks immensely. Found more bugs Google voice search says you can personalize but in menu no option also applanet doesn't work

We should have 815mhz as a clock setting it would be the best co efficient
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Quadrant score 1120 825mhz cymod 7.1.0 rco
Well as far as I have noticed , on 10% the phone just dies - no warning popup .
Second it freeze's a alot - A LOT . In M4 it wasn't an issue at all - it never happen'd to me , but in M5 it just freeze's not while im using it ( screen on ) but sometimes ( wich is very often ) it freeze's while screen is off - it doesn't turn on , but the phone itself is working and screen come's back when some1 call's me . I had this same issue in M2 .
But all in all GREAT update , I am very satisfied with the new battery life , also the speed increase is really significant and noticable , smooth and snapy .
If the bug's are fixed in next release we will be one step closer to having the perfect ROM . I personaly would like to see native DivX/Xvid , and wireless hardware altough i don't use it . With this done ROM is nearly perfect , best one out there .
M4urik GREAT WORK MATE - REALLY APRICIATED . If you would ever hapen to find yourself visiting Macedonia , i owe you a LOT of beer .
The Flash_all_no_wipe)(fastboot) ? i havnt a clue what that is , i can guess that it dosnt wipe anything but some1 else explain it to me?
Advantages or disadvantages or wipe vs not wipe?
What one should i pick?
Backup everything and wipe I found its just a cleaner faster install
Also has to be said mur4iks work is awesome and I agree once the bugs are fixed perfect rom just need to find all bugs address them and small improvements more clock settings etc
Also on PC you can use an SD card as like a ram booster or temp ram is there a way we can utilize our 16-32 gig SD cards to do the same and speed up our phone's??
I think this would also minimize crashing freezing etc as this usually happens when system memory is low
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Another bug if you search contacts in messaging it will freeze and you have to re boot
i have a problem with data2system. i installed the data2system version of this rom with recovery, and after i installed, i kept geting boot loops...its being looping for like 40min and still no change.
PLEASE HELP!! and also, can anyone send me an apk of the M5 version of livewallpaper picker.apk?? cos thats removed in data2system.
Quick question , think I know what it is just getting a second opinion, I factory data my m5 cleared cache etc, look at my phone memory, at 100mb came back 5hours later to a look its now at 92mb didn't install any apps or anything, ideas?

-go to recovery - mounts & storage
-only format system & cache => do NOT make a full format

Easy guide to improve jelly bean experience

Hello guys. I've been playing around with Jelly bean official, deleting some apps, adding other apps, and together with members on this page we were able to find some bugs and some workarounds. Well, i have some suggestions so that you guys can improve on speed (at least seemed to have worked for me ).
1) Download from Play Store app: Android Tuner (link for freeversion, has less options), Titanium backup, Gemini app
2) At Android Tuner, Go to Main Menu then again on the option One-Click (with the blue android) and it'll appear 2 options. One wich says One-click reset (it'll put all the buttons blue with on), and the other ont wich says "on boot" . Click on both, Leave the last one unchecked (it is not necessary to constantly do this, you can do it manualy later.
3) On same page, at the top wich says "build" click on it. Below you'll find a option wich says Presets, click and then Apply all presets. (later search for debug.sf.nobootanimation (click on the red cross, to remove it in orther to keep )
4)SysCtl, click at Recommended, the app will calculate for your phone automaticaly then click on boot so that it'll boot always with same configuration. (we can test this later, other configurations suggested by the users)
5) on the tab, scroll to your left untill you find the option SD, select cache size :2048 then click "on boot)
6) Slide again to the option OOM, and basicacly is setting same configuration as we use on Maximum Overdrive to max usage of RAM :
Select light preset
Then click on boot.
7) Using this app or titanium backup freeze or remove:
Samsung Push notification app
Email.apk
ExchangeServer.apk
8) Using Germini app ,click Menu then expert mode search for the following apps: Maps.apk, talk.apk, select each of them, select configure autorun, then press menu, and Disable app. (The app will still work, but use less the CPU usage, leaving free for other apps).
9) Go back to Android Tuner and On the main menu running click on One-Click (with a toolbox) -> Manage and it'll appear 5 options , click 1 by 1 on each.
10) reeboot
Optional: 11) Remove all live wall papers or convert to user apps, and free till 130 MB memory, using titanium backup, press menu then integrate dalvikcache.
12)Convert database to WAL(faster database).
13)On Android Tuner run again Defrag registry
Now you should have a much smoother experience.
I've tested this with Wanamlite wich is free of bloatware.
I hope this helps to get a better experience.
Note: In touchwiz launcher, when you create a folder at the menu, and you insert there your apps, if after a reeboot for some reason the apps are not there it is because you have your apps instaled on your SD card, go to app manager, select the app and move to Internel SD Card, and it is solved.

For now no. I've made this guide more and less three days after testing. Never has issues. Seems to be working great and fast battery life, With wifi off and power save on. Had an estimated of 7 hours screen watching a movie. When I can test ill share the results. But if someone could test this would be great. Once I had 2 hours and 30 min of display use and still was 78%.

Check how much free ram you are left when lag starts. Also that time check what apps show active that time.
Download app called clean master from play and let it monitor active app or apps which is hogging your memory. It is definately an app causing issue.
I would suggest to cease all downloaded apps for a day and then see if you face similar issue.

well my cpu temp is 58 degrees and once i have it runing its mostly the beast like before ( I think he is jealous of the 2.5 quadcore processor s5 of my mom and completely depressed because the ipad almost see the light)
android system is using 50 % of the battery cant find anything about usage on clean master
and i know what happens if its not have enough ram (it has +- 600 ram free) because i use a s3 now that has sometimes no ram left
and clean master is helping a bit but it is happening again (i think it is battery)
and play store is super slow in loading
and if i turn show everything on i get massages for google play services stopped and that it doesnt react or i want to stop it and some other apps and clean master
cpu is above 50 % always (cpu-z app) but also what was the most annoying of all is that 4g/3g is connected but it is inactive

Bro my advise would be to root your phone as i do not see any harm in rooting.
Atleast you would be able to enjoy extra minor tweaks with root.
And if you want to enjoy non root only thing i can offer is themes from my thread which you can download from my Signature link.
It also locks itself but the screen will stay on so i see the lock screen but it doesnt react
700 + ram left most times

Try trickster mod from playstore and change your governor to interractive.
I am not sure it will work without root but no harm in trying.
Secondly from service menu update your touch firmware once again.
For keyboard lag, install g3 keyboard apk from offered in themes and app section and it shpuld resove your keyboard lag issue.
Otherwise only option left is to factory reset

Try to uninstall that whatsapp to see how system will act, maybe it is the problem. Also go to developer settings and enable features that will show touch history, and then while enabled check all swipe all areas just to make sure that touch is working ok. GL
Thanks but i already tried whatsapp and there is nothing with my touchscreen actualy everything is working again but not for long
im using a s3 at the moment

Are you the first owner? Maybe the previous owner disabled the temperature control (in order to speed up phone, noob move). This would explain a lot. Because our phone will not get hotter than 76C with temp control on. If you are the first owner and you are sure you saw it reach 90C then you must go to get it repaired.<hidden>
Open your phone’s dial pad and type the following code:*3845#*#. For example, type-3845#*800#*(for At&T model)3845#*801#**(for T-Mobile variants)3845#*802#*(for European variants)3845#*803#*(for AT&T and Canadian variants)5689#*980#*(for Sprint LG G2)Doing this open the service menu of your phone. Scroll down to High temperature property settings and it MUST NOT be ON.
Now turn off your phone. Wait for about 15-20 seconds and then turn it on again.</hidden>
I googled what the clockspeed of a adreno.330 and it is 450mhz and usemon says that it wont get higher then 320 mhz
