[Q] Wanted: Boot Codes FAQ? - Atrix 4G General

I know that if I hold VOL- while powering up, the phone will present options for rebooting in different modes. I don't know what most of them mean.
Does anyone have a FAQ online listing these--for the Atrix--or can anyone list them for me?
Thank you!

bump since I would like to know this info as well.

A little newbie help!

Hi guys, and congratulations for the work you have put up in here. I have just bought my Vibrant and I am quite lost.... I did some reading but I would like you to specify some things if you can. The phone has the stock version T959UVJFD. I am intending to update to J16 via Kies Mini. Is there something that I would have to know, before doing that?
Also, I live in Greece, and I searched for a way to have greek Os on phone, but can't find any. Isn't there a way to have greek menus? There should be, because the Galaxy S that is sold here has greek menu...
I also read that Swype 1.60 supports greek, but I only have 1.57. What's the official way to update swype?
Finally, a little help about Roms, what do custom roms offer more than stock ones? Even more, does anybody greek in here recommend a specific mode that maybe offers better support for the greek language?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. All answers accepted!
You might want to get the unlock codes with the sgs unlock app on the market before you update to ji6.
I already have the unlock code! The problem is now I am trying to root my VIbrant, but I can't seem to enter recovery mode. I've tried all combinations. After I start it with both volume buttons pressed, the vibrant logo vanishes and when it appears again I release the power button, but it continues to boot normally. I also tried keeping all three buttons pressed all the time, but then it just reboots all the time (vibrant logo apperas and dissappear continuously). What's wrong?

Hold the volume up and down at the same time then press power button and hold it as soon as you see the vibrant screen let go of power and keep holding the volume up and down keys, this works every time for me.
I have tried that but with no result. Actually as I searched through the forums I found numerous people saying that this doesn't work for them, and they say something about hardware locked Vibrants or faulty ones. I just hoped I wasn't one of them, but that's my luck!

How to change power button to turn off screen?

Hey guys I am really excited I just got my touch screen working again, and it had that cable problem under the power button..... I remember searching a lot on google for the solution and someone was saying there is a way change power button to turn off screen so I don't even need to press that button anymore and hopefully it won't occur anymore...... Could anyone give me a link that to that post again... lolz I couldn't find it again
Thanks for all your help!!
What ROM are you using
I am using Cyogen Mod 7 (or something close to that for Android)
try lock screen app in market. I have't tried it but might work
good luck
Edit; I tried cyanogenMod settings/input/long press home settings/use custom app but couldn't find sleep, maybe you will have better luck
Thanks I will definantly check it out!

Phone wont boot [Goes directly into HBoot]

I woke up this morning and my phone will not boot. It automatically boots into the bootloader (hboot) and the up/down (volume keys) wont move the cursor to allow me to get to the recovery option. Also if I try to boot into recovery using the hard button combo it vibrates 3 times and the led turns to green, then it just sits/never gets to recovery. Since hboot is looking for the PDimg file I figure I could use this file to revert to stock but I was hoping someone here might have a better answer.
If not can someone let me know how to go about flashing with a PD15img file and where I can find a copy?
Thanks guys
Sounds like your volume button is stuck
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Nope because it knows when I'm using them to try to go straight to recovery also the power button cannot be used to select either but it works to turn the phone one. They just stop working in hboot.
A constantly pressed button will of course also react when you're trying to boot directly to recovery. The phone doesn't "know" anything.
Another option is a stuck trackpad.
If all else fails you might try to reflash recovery and or Hboot, it never hurts to try from a clean install.

I think you guys are misunderstanding the point. This has nothing to do with the buttons. My issue is when I turn my phone on (by hitting the power button once) the phone will only boot into hboot. Once in hboot none of the keys (power or volume) work. If I try to boot directly into recovery by holding vol up/down + power; the phone will viberate 3 times and the LED lights up green. It then just sits on a blacklit black screen and does nothing else.
I am looking for eirther; Anyone that has ever had this issue and may be able to shed some light onto why it happened. Which by the way was completly random, I shut the phone off before going to sleep and woke up too it viberating like crazy then when I tried to turn it back on; this is what happened.
Or the answer to this question; How do I install a rom from hboot? Can I just install any rom as a "update" by using the method of naming it PD15IMG? Since it does search for this file when I have a sd card in at boot. But if my memory serves me correct it will ask; "Would you like to install this update?" and if my hard buttons do not work and I cannot click yes than what else can I do?
Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

And I think you can't read. You've been told in 3 posts that the phone boots directly to HBOOT because EITHER A VOLUME DOWN BUTTON OR A TRACKPAD BUTTON IS STUCK, ON ELECTRICAL LEVEL - THE CONTACTS ARE ALWAYS CLOSED. And THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT ON SOFTWARE/FLASHING LEVEL. You need to fix what's broken, and you've been told what's broken. Patience isn't one of my skills. Good luck from here.

I do thank you for your help but you may want to aquire some patience if you plan to continue helping people... since people in need of help are most likely confused.
Thanks though :highfive:
Im my experience Jack_R1's answers are always right and are the answer to your question. If you think otherwise one of two things is happening.
1) You did not explain your problem thoroughly.
2) You need to examine his post(s) more closely.
He has zero tolerance for stupidity or ignorance due to laziness (i.e. not searching). I'm not trying to speak for him or defend him or anything else. He's grown and quite capable of handling all that. The man just knows the answer and gets to the damn point.
I wish we had more people around here like him.

Debrick image?

Hello all I'm currently on the Note3 but the an hour ago I found my old prefect condition s4 in a box. Currently the s4 is hard bricked and is not functional at all what so ever so I was wondering if there was a debrick image to sd card floating around that I could get this bad boy up and running. Seems like a waste to be just sitting doing nothing. I've looked around but havent found one but then again theres not one wide open on the Note3 and I have one. I know there a dyi but I had no luck with that when I bricked it some time back. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.
Can you get into download mode?
I have the same problem, hard bricked S4, will do nothing. I hear different beeps when plugged into the usb port of my computer, but that's the only sign of life it shows. I've been searching for a fix that I can do myself. If anyone knows of a way please let me know.
You've tried booting into download mode? Pull the battery for several seconds...insert battery, press and hold home button, volume down, and power button (all three at the same time) until a warning message appears. If that works, you should be able to use ODIN to flash a stock setup.

[Q] Buttons constantly being pressed, can't use phone

Hi recently left work to find my phone constantly pressing the back, home and the far right button (don't know the name) constantly to the point where I can't use it. I managed to hard boot into recovery mode (power + down until LG screen, release and press again) and even managed to flash a ROM I already had (after several frustrating minutes), but the phone still can't be used. I can get past the setup screen and nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any solutions for me or am I screwed and need a new device?

There's a thread here where a lot of people are experiencing the same thing. Maybe you you can find something useful there.
