Tried it:
Market doesn't download anything (trying flashing it with pit 803, maybe it helps, EDIT: doesn't help ;/ EDIT2: Market fixed itself It was google fault.)
No fancy Gingerbread animation while blocking device
Download Mode works
Changed look (Samsung and Gingerbread style mix).

Awesome! Samsung once again proving the doubting Tomas wrong!
About the Market not downloading, have you tried changing the build prop to JPY to see if that fixes it?

Use 512.pit PITfile.
Basically, They took out all of the UI changes in gingerbread.
To not confuse non-enthousiast customers, they ported all of the customisations from 2.1 and 2.2 to 2.3, even if the stock 2.3 is better.
They have taken out all of the new colors, the square corners, screen off animations, bounce effect, enz enz enz. All of the Touchwiz is still here.

Well, one word that describes my reaction :
YUPIIII !!!

Is it faster then Darkys gingerbread edition? What is new?
How does it look?

i expected the 2.3 screen off animations, bounce effect most, how fvcking samsung is!
though bounce effect can be achieved in 2.2 roms

Isnt' this topic already posted?

anyone rooted it ??

Market works
I've flashed it today but market works like a charm, it did 4 updates on first market start.
Get root here - speedmod kernel doesn't work, the phone keeps on vibrating while bootup, so don't flash it.

Truly wtf, thread is already opened..

v1.7 is now available.
An Excellent Eclair for Acer Liquid
I've been using v1.6.7 for the past several days and it has performed almost flawlessly. Initial problems accessing all apps in the Market were sorted out.
A few apps aren't happy
- Handcent SMS presents duplicate incoming messages and something FC's on pop-up if the screen is locked. It eventually becomes unstable. I uninstalled it. It's become too fat anyway.
- Drocap2 creates an empty file sometimes when taking screenshots. Seems to work best making pngs with shake trigger.
- Earthquake app crashes on startup 100% of the time.
But otherwise, this is the best Eclair I've run on the Acer Liquid and better than anything on the HTC G1 /Magic....simply because the video drivers are there for the Liquid...and that means *everything* works.
At the moment I'd pick eViLD v1.7 over LCR v1.1.1....for both stability and the fact the voice searching / input works.
Well done!
You will se that liquid is fast like cheetah when Acer will release stable ROM, and our devs make it 3 times faster

[ROM] killer23d's Doc Froyo BUJP8 v9.0.1 / ADJP5 v8 Captivate Edition - 11/30/2010

Updated BUJP8 v9.0.1 / ADJP5 v8 (11/30/2010)
This is a Captivate port from Doc Froyo. It is so far one of the cleaner vanilla Android 2.2.
NOT PERFECT!! Please report bugs! From now on, my focus will be on the Bell's version as it is more suitable to our North American Galaxy S. I will simply be porting the ROM over and will not test them extensively unless it is significantly better. I will attend to bugs if found. The reason behind this decision is that i9000 ROMs are not neccessary better for us because they are designed for Europe/Asia market.

I can do that or you can do that for me too... It's not really that hard, as I said, I want something as plain as possible.
Can we see some screenshots?
Everything is working without problems?
No problems transitioning from 850-1900 bands?
No FC's in any apps or processes?
Can you apply his tweaks from the OG post? IE- disable the increasing ring or his themes?
What tweaks are included? Is this a barebone version?
I like docs so work too. Good luck.
He has the power button mods to get to download, recovery, and reboot. Lost my battery mod tho.

The Battery Mod here SHOULD work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818030
I can't test it though, YMMV. It's the Cognition-style battery.
And if it doesn't work, all you have to do is open that Battery_Mod.zip, take out the images inside the framework-res.apk, copy them into the framework-res.apk from the ROM, and replace it inside the battery mod .zip.
Well give out a try. I had the battery mod but lost it when I installed the power button mod.

Hmmm, try to give credit to the creator next time
I have this flashing addition, and the ROM is cooked for my convenience, I just post it so that those who like things bare can use it.
I have NOT tested this for every possible scenerios because I don't have 3G! If it doesn't crash or die on me, then I am OK. I am still new to this and learning.
This is quite barebone without TouchWiz. The only tweak installed is Voodoo, circle battery mod and HOSTS file. I try to keep this as simple as possible so you guys can add anything you like.
I may add Cog's style battery on the next release.
I have not get a chance to do screenshots, and will do it when I am updating the ROM when Doc_Kalpik has a new revision. It's not themed, so it's really stock Samsung like.
LOL.. Doc, I will put EVERYONE next time as I lost track.

DocRambone, I am sorry if I have offended you. What I mean by cooked is "put-together" with your work. I have already made it very clear in the post that it is from you work. I am going change my wording as of we speak.

JPM modem, and it is not modified.
I think it's a matter of asking FIRST, then porting it, and then giving proper credit.
Has anyone tried this yet? Is it fast? How is the Voodoo color fix? I've been super interested to see anyone post pictures of the difference the color fix makes!

Not sure why you are whining about this so much. Did he not state that he was using another rom and making modifications of it? Did you build your version from the ground up, or "steal" part of it from someone else then added your tweak? I am happy to see someone else getting into the cooking game and look forward to see further advancement on this.

Aight, well I just jumped on board, flashed this bad boy a little while ago and everything seems to be running pretty good. Haven't come across any issues what so ever, no fc's, etc. Of course I always flash back to stock, master clear and remove sim before flashing and pretty much never have any issues, but I can confirm this ROM is running very nicely. I wanted to try it for the voodoo color fix, but I dont have anything to compare it to until tomorrow when I get to work and put it beside my buddies captivate. Will report back then. Feel free to ask any questions if interested.
Color fix works on full brightness.

[Question] Should I update or not?

2 days ago I updated to 2.0.2.a.0.24 and yesterday I rooted phone added dual touch restored data and usual stuff that are done after updating. Today, PC Companion said that there is new update available, does anyone know what update it is and can I add dualtouch again if I update?
No, don't update.. It'll update the same firmaware again I've tried
Ok thanks for tip
2.1.A.0.435 update
There is a thread in development on this subject, which I've been looking into by having the 2.1.A.0.435 update on my phone and found the Baseband version is the big difference.
New Mediascape & Timescape apps only offer the ability to zoom via a little icon, not by pinch even though Multitouch is enabled in the Kernel by default.
Ignore this update as the performance is terrible without JIT v2 installed, rooted or xRecovery - default Linpack result of 6.22 ... after removing some apps, xRecovery and JIT v2 installed, processes killed, got it back to more fair 33.214 as my highest result with some work.
The stock Global 2.0.2.A.0.24 is faster, more stable and kxhawkins & sempeternals are way faster.
X.Gbread Theme - with 2.0.2.A.0.24 - gives you 2.1update1 and is quite responsive.
Add JIT v2 to the 24 ROM / Multitouch mod by Bin4ry and you have a half decent X10, along the lines of what they should have sold off the shelf. The procedure for a decent 2.1 ROM that I'd advise is along these lines.
kX10 R1B010 - High Performance SE Replacement ROM by kxhawkins
Use SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse.zip to obtain root
Install xRecovery with HD fixes by zdzihu
Enable Multitouch as described by My_Immortal & Bin4ry
Set - /system/build.prop - dalvik-vm-heapsize=32mb - with Root Explorer
JIT Enabler V2 - Optimized for xRecovery by zdzihu
Install the SpareParts.apk from the CyanogenMod ROM
All your software and functionality will work and be optimized, only thing in addition is Astro file manager for it's process manager or Advanced Task Killer free to zap processes spawning like demons on your battery life.
Taken a miss of Froyo 2.2.1 and wish everything worked and runs. The FreeX10 looks great but I use my camcorder often..
TripNRaVeR 2.3.1 Gingerbread is my candidate for the next big upgrade. It's being put together quick - 48hours of release went to v1.3 and has the same issues with 2.2.1 Froyo / FreeX10 - but is Gingerbread and looks like the best ROM feature wise.
Rowboat is a possible solution to the Camcorder driver problem with Froyo & Gingerbread but it isn't finished. Z, Bin4ry and other people are working on this though, I expect soon enough it will work with our X10 devices and man.. until then stay away from the new baseband volatile 435.
My biggest gripe is the anpnymous usage information being sent back to SE, even if you instruct and set it off... privacy concerns are as bad as performance issues and 2.1.A.0.435 update has them both, with little else to offer!

Before the hardware upgrade, i have hope for a ICS 4.0 firmware for your old SGS. The hardware is really close between the nexus S and the SGS... and in the worst case, i'll use cyanogenmod 8.
Just a question, the call quality in 2.3.5 rom are really better ? I've skip the JVS rom...

To be honest i didn't notice massive improvements on JVS regarding call quality. I had JVQ and JVR before.

There is 2 CSC, the "Home" one (size=9,7 mo)
And the other one (size=86 mo)
You need to try, i'll choose the big CSC ^^

I'd just ignore the CSCs and configure the APNs by hand.

[Q] (Q) Is there cm10 rom with transparent status+notificationbar?

Is there ready rom with transparent status and notification bar?
I have tried find that mod, but i haven´t found..
And i have tried couple differend mods witch hasn´t been made in defy and usually phone stucks
What phone do you use? I have a Defy+, so this answer may not apply.
There are very few ROMs available to choose from (as most of them seem to come either from Quarx's CM10 or MIUI), and these do not include any notification transparency support.
What I did was to apply the update zip from this thread over Quarx's CM10 ROM (I just updated to 20130318). This gave me a transparent notification bar for the default theme, but you must be warned that if you change your theme, then it probably WON'T remain transparent, as different themes can specify that their status-bar is opaque.
Some themes already come with a transparent setup for the notification bar (for example, I used one called "Blue Line"), but the majority do not. In these cases you need to actually edit the theme in order to get transparency back (as explained in this post), however installing a modified theme will require you to not just decompile and recompile the theme .apk, but you also need to re-sign it (and finally, some will refuse to apply unless you remove some preview.png files within).
Notice that even themes with a transparent notification bar will not be displaying as transparent until after you apply the update zip I linked to first.
And this is JUST for the notification bar. I've been reading around a bit on how to add transparency to the notification drawer, but the steps required have just turned me off from trying that.
In brief, a transparent bar with the stock theme is easy. If the theme you like doesn't includes it, then it's going to take getting your hands dirty...
It shows that Android is based on Linux when it requires all this voodoo magic for a transparent notification bar T_T'
I have installed that statusbar mod. And it seems to working fine.
Does anyone know is those slim rom´s how stable and fast?
I like quarx´s rom´s cause they are so fast.
I just upgraded to the Slim Bean 3.1.0 by Kayant. I must say the transparency settings for status-bar / notification-bar are really awesome (it even works with installed themes).
The ROM works very well, if you read the comments on the linked thread, you'll see that it is a pretty neat ROM. Some users reported problems with using different CPU schedulers, but I personally use "CPU Tuner "with the default government (onDemand) which works well so far. However, the voltage settings gives me an error saying that it cannot retrieve the values, thus I cannot undervolt my Defy+.
Notice that this ROM uses Quarx's kernel underneath, so performance should be very similar. Unfortunately, the last update to that Slim Bean release is from February 25, meaning that it uses Quarx's kernel from the 20130217 nightly.
I should try poking that thread to see if there's any way in which us users could update the underlying kernel.
EDIT: Lookie here, it looks like Kayant is keeping an eye on Quarx's development, so we may get an updated kernel anyway

Well it looks like Quarx has finally got new wifi drivers working and man it really showed me how wrong I was to have even attempt porting it myself because my method was so wrong and would have never work. I guess I will leave the kernel stuff to the experts
Now am going to wait and see if Quarx updates his repos more then I will try compile the new kernel with the new wifi drivers and hope it will work without me having to build the roms from starch ^_^

You need to register on the forum, then give the poster "Thanks!" ("Agradecer") before the download link becomes available ("descargas").
Kayant's release is based on Slim Bean 3.1.0, whereas 3.1.2 seems to have only two differences: "Update Me" (a program to handle updating the ROM from within the phone) and updated translations. So it's not that big of a difference...
I have no idea what kernel is running in the Slim Defy release, it only mentions that it has support for updating/using JellyX. I would not be surprised if it is Quarx's kernel, though.
Kayant is going to soon work on updating his ROM releases to 4.2 JellyBean rather than 4.1.2, so I don't think it's correct to say "updating" has come to a stop on the Kayant releases. It might be worth following his thread.
That's all I know, sorry if it isn't enough.
