playon.tv
I used this program to stream movies to my xbox and other various set top boxes I have set up around my house. Now I use it to stream netflix to my evo via web interface that I can tap through either local lan or even wan. Works great! Plus I also have access to hulu, local media, and other web content that I can access through my set top boxes. No need to worry about Qualcomm's future processors.
playon
yes i do to and its awesome isnt it
I'll check it out.
sweet tip! Thanks!!

Hmmm I guess it has a learning curve. But the automated setup did most the work for me.
More monthly fees...ugh. We really do need a movie app for android though.

To tell you the truth I been using playon for 2 years now and I only paid an initial $40 two years ago. They might try to charge me soon though because they keep sending me emails to upgrade to a premium account.

There is a beta app on the Market for streaming movies. I think it is called Droid Stream. Or something. Something like that would each up so much bandwidth to host though. Or else more devs would make more apps for movies.

On a related note, don't forget Verizon is going to be getting rid of their "unlimited" (but still limited) data plan very soon, if they haven't already. Streaming video to your phone will get you to that cap pretty quickly, unless if you're only doing it when on wi-fi or something.

Not for a while.. they haven't even announced the details of the tiered plans.
And the unlimited plan is truly unlimited.. don't know what you are talking about there.
Yeah and if you have unlimited data already, you'll be grandfathered in anyway.
Unlimited I'd not truly unlimited, at 5GB per month, they reserve the right to kick you off. It is to safe guard themselves from network crashes. AT&T used to have the 5 GB cap too

Hmph, Since I got my DX on release day I've used an average of 35 GB a month. Haven't heard a word from Verizon.
Good news, Verizon has announced they will grandfather in unlimited plans for those who wish to keep them. Now if only I could get hulu to work...

Ya but when... when....
I like this site: ipb.Quicksilverscreen.com It has everything and in flash, it uses stream sites like loombo, vidbux, megavideo, etc so there are lots of options. You can even download divx shows and play them on an android media player that supports divx playback.
why don't you just download the android movies app by H5Development, here is a link
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidmovies&feature=search_result
I would tell you to purchase "Amatsu" from the Market, but the developers are thieves and crooks.
They sold "free android movies", which was vaporware. It never functioned... Only had a date on it staying when it would be working again. It then disappeared & Amatsu took it's place. Now Amatsu doesn't work!
I downloaded the app and set it up since I have blockbuster online anyways. Didn't know I would have to pay for movies. That sucks. It also fc's a lot. Anyone else try it yet?

blockbuster removed it from the market i think. I read it from androidcentral. they said the app isn't optimized for other phones but they will make it soon
netflix is better, and with the soon to be released netflix app, it will totally dominate.

Lol was gonna ask for your source, then just googled it myself xD
not to put blockbuster down, but it really just cant compete with the no added fee instant streams and the unlimited movie/month dvd's for only $9. The only thing that can compete is Redbox and its doing quite well(off topic) especially since redbox is currently beta testing game rentals in their kiosks here in Reno.
I hope they change the app to free or cheaper rentals cause I use blockbuster online like crazy. I love it cause I can exchange a movie in the store for a new release on tuesdays. Can't even get a lot of new movies from netflix.

Netflix recently hired 2 android developers to get instant streaming into Android devices.
You should be seeing the Netflix app in a short period of time.

that's nice to hear but would be disappointing if you just punk'd all us EVO owning netflix customers..
they have been lookign for at least 1 android developer for a while so i believe it. though in a short time i would guess 3-6 months before you see any sort of netflix app at the very least.
They had an ad on their page but I guess somebody filled up the position.. (no bull)

As long as I can stream my netflix account to my evo it will be worth the wait.
What would suck is if I have to fork out another fee every month or pay for the app even though I am already a member. Though I would rather pay a one time fee for the app then a recurring fee for the ability to use it.
Only time will tell.

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the correct spot for this post but i wanted to know if any of you have purchased any games directly from gameloft. They are currently having a holiday sale where u buy a game for $4.99 and you get one free. Now to me that sounds like to good to be true but im still curious you know. They do have some pretty good games like N.O.V.A. and much more. Any feedback from you guys would be awesome.
Heres is the url where i found their website
http://wapshop.gameloft.com/us/spri...02=216209736754a7692829&from=ADID-21999&c=223
It's a legit offer if that's what you are asking. They have a lot of cool games but I usually just wait until they offer free games and then I download them. I was able to get Hero of Sparta and Let's Golf for free.
warning about gameloft, it was confirmed that they double charged lots of their customers that purchased a game from them, I didn't have a problem after purchasing Dungeon Hunter so its not an every customer problem but there are many still having issues getting refunds

Oh really? Whas this recent? Its making me think twice now.
http://phandroid.com/2010/12/14/have-you-been-ripped-off-by-gameloft/
Hey, did anyone actually do this deal? I ordered one game, I paid, and then I ordered another game from the free list and... I paid again... how do I get the free games?
join the marketplace gameloft, sheesh.
i bought asphalt 5 or something a while back and i dont think i get free updates, unless i buy it again.. aint that some BS?
gameloft doesnt deserve my money until joining.
I refuse to pay for games and apps...the phone was expensive enough..especially the stupid ten extra dollars a month for 4g (which has no coverage when you live way out in the sticks)
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I did this twice. The first time there was a "download free game" link that was displayed after i made the purchase, so that was easy. The second time I didn't get that same link. I ended up emailing them and they sent me a link for a free game. I personally haven't had any problems with them, but have only made 3 or 4 purchases with them since getting my EVO, so YMMV. They did take a while to respond to my email (5 or 6 days) but since it was around Christmas time I'll give them a pass on that.
I think they have some of he best mobile games around. Silly as it may sound but I'm after console like gaming and their games are about as close as you can get. Also, EA has a deal right now , .99 cents a game. That includes nfs shift, which imo is the best looking racer we have. I remember when games were 15 to 30 dollars for games, abiet, this was before the iPhone and Android application model existed.

Yay...now you guys can watch "classic" movies like "Breakin' 2" and "Vegas in Space."
Just kidding. I have been a subscriber for a long time and it is well worth the money. For a long time, my family and I had only a Roku player with netflix and regular broadcast TV. We finally caved and went to satellite TV a few months ago. I regret it when I get the bill every month.
I just signed up first month is free but i gotta say i ain't to impressed with the content.
