Where is 'mark as read'? - Galaxy Tab General

Obligatory SGT content: i am using the xda premium app (1.0.x) on my jmiv2 SGT. works well. I would say it works super really well if someone could tell me:
Where is the 'mark forum as read' feature in this app?
Maybe a little off topic, sorry. So here is some on topic content: my SGT been bery bery good to me. Go buy one.

Found it. It is in a wonky place IMHO. Click 'latest' on tool bar and then the menu button has a 'mark forum as read'.
Which forum?
It seems to mark all of xda as read. This option is not available while you are 'in' a forum?? It is workable for now, but in the web ui i can mark, as example, "SGT General" as read, and this does not affect.my read status in N1 or its sub forums. That is what i am looking for.
Maybe i am doing it wrong. . .

Audio

Alas the .24 update has done nothing to cure the stuttering audio issue. Real shame that.

ok, stop creating new threads for things that everyone already knows...
Sorry mate but I'm not a bloody mind reader and I saw no mention about it with regards to the update.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
you know, theres a search button which will find you hundread answers about it...
Imo the search button finds pretty much what it wants and it can be a real pain to find the thread your looking for.

Q & A??????

This is completely irrelevant to everything but why are we one of the only forums that doesn't have a Q & A sub-forum?
I think that falls under general.

There are specific requirements for a Q & A subforum, I'll look them up.
But, philosophically, I've never seen the point: if users don't search in general, why would they search in Q & A?

Agreed, its pretty ridiculous when people post a question that has been answered in posts even on the same page they posted on. Users need to do little more research before they jump in blind and just ask for help. We may be a forum to help others, but come on, if u can't take the time to read and learn u shouldn't be screwing around with a six hundred dollar phone....

Having been here a long time I completely agree with you guys about people searching. I just found it odd that there were certain devices with Q&A but we didn't have one
I have found a generic Google search to be far more effective than the XDA app search.

I can't say I have EVER found something using search on xda. If I am searching for something I will always use google

I agree. Google will bring up all the forum posts. I spend most of my time on dxf and I find the search functions to be unuseful unless you have an exact phrase match.

Am I dumb why hasn't anyone mentioned 3.2 allows

You to use the SD card finally? Can't transfer apps to it but it reads all the information on it.

read only access to sd card.
it's on almost all the 3.2 topics
OK I'm sorry. Mods feel free to remove my post

In the future you might notice as you are actually typing the subject out it will auto-guess other topics that are similar to yours. Additionally, you might spend more than 5 seconds looking at the general section
also if it helps there's a bug thread here http://code.google.com/p/android/is...rd&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars for sdcard issues being read only etc.

It doesn't auto-guess when I'm on my xoom. Thanks for the undertoned criticism.
Lothaen thanks for the info

The main thing it's done for mine is just made it far smoother and less lag ridden. Couldn't really give a crap about new features, it's just better at what it was already good at.

Search in Stock messaging app

I was fairly surprised today when I tried to search my conversation list in the stock messaging app for a particular person. I knew the thread was there but search returned zero results.
So Google the kings of search have made a messaging app that doesn't allow you to search by sender? Really? That's beyond useless.

Legit Question
EDIT: This flaming was not deserved... Sorry for my hasty reply from a hasty read...
Absolutely sure that you are joking... I haven't had any problems searching the threads any time on my Nexus 4 when it was on Stock ROM or CyanogenMod.
If you provide more details about the phone, ROM and other things and conclusive proof of this blame, it may be believed. Till then, this is an unnecessary thread :/

I can confirm that there is no such option to search the person by name in stock ROM

lol I never noticed that either. I mean, I don't really get enough messages to need to search through them, but that is pretty lame that you can't search by name.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the edit bio. I don't search my sms a lot but when I do, it always by sender rather than content (which searches fine). Maybe Google will add this in the next update?

Can we please call this phone the HTC1 or M7 in created topics.

Didn't want to start a topic for this. But I was searching on things for the One and kept being directed to HTC One X post. Can we please use a codename for searching sakes.

Why don't you just search within the HTC One forum...?

So search through pages of topics to find what you're looking for? Not for just this forum. But Google as well. Search for something in particular for the One and watch how many One X threads you run into.

What he's saying is if you Google HTC one, xda sends you to the one x section more that this section, but there's not much you can do about that, that's what it's called

I'm talking about the xda forums in specific. He said "Google as well." But he's also asking for people to change the name of the One on the xda forums in specific, so Google is really a moot point, since you have an xda search function. You can't really help Google anyway (except to do things like search "HTC One -X -V -S" etc.), but there are way to search xda threads to narrow posts down to One-only posts.

I guess no one ever went through the newbie stage. I'm not talking about changing the HTC One forum name either btw. Just the topics.

Neither did I. I said to use the search feature on the xda forums to search for posts in the HTC One forum in specific. You can also used the advanced features to search through posts separately instead of topics.
I'm just saying... this is not something that can or will be changed, so you just have to find ways to make the best of it.
You can do "not" searches in google also. Ex.
Htc one cases -"one x"
swyped all these spelling errors from my galaxy note 2

It's exactly that bad
I found about 8 iterations of the HTC One which had to be prefixed with -
Search for "HTC One M7" That usually finds best results so the OPs suggestion is spot on.
I was going to make a similar suggestion about a month ago but expected the same negative responses so I didn't bother.
Yes HTC One M7 is how I look usually
But I kinda like HTC1 reminds me of the N1
It would have been so much better if they had stuck with M7. So much easier to find anything when searching. And M7 is cool, kind of James Bond-ish. Oh well . . .
