It really depends on what you have on your device.

I was running the ota 2.2.1 and just hated how laggy it was. Prior to 2.2.1 I had CM 5 on it and then CM 6.1. The yoshi ginger is WAY faster than the 2.2.1ota and was a little faster than cm6.1. The lastest release of yoshi ginger 5.2 runs smooth and very fast with no noticable lag, I love it , it was almost like getting a new phone.
I can agree with that, I ran cm6.1 until they decided they were not making a DS version for sapphire. Cyanogen has alot of themes and different tweaks that I can't get with yoshi ( as far as I know) but yoshi is running fantastic with the 2.3.2 platform

What's the difference between CM7 rom and Virtuous rom???
Because I'm thing about updating from virtuous to cm7
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
One big difference is that CM doesn't have HTC Sense, but Virtuous does.
Also, CM is based on 2.3, whereas Virtuous is 2.2.1

Best thing to do is flash and see for youself! Look at the specs of the roms and flash! That's what I do.

I agree. I was doing the same thing as you trying to find the difference between two different ROMs and I found that it was just easier to flash and try them yourself. Plus it was fun flashing different ROMs
I really like Roto CM7 rom So far out of all of all the roms I have tryed and it seems more stable as well as fast. but I am flashing B#54 because it has the tethering in it. seems he has taken it out after that and since I do not have Internet at home anymore... Moved and have not gotten it.... I tether...
Hey,
Well Virtuous is based on the stock rom (therefore it comes with sense). On the other hand is CM which is build on top of vanilla android (therefore it can use 2.3).
If you like the look and feel and the bundled apps of the desire z with stock rom, you will love Virtuous because its just an extension.
If you think the stock one is overloaded and you like the vanilla android experience, CM is the way to go.
In both cases you get a custom kernel with a lot of nice features.
I use CM on my G1 and Virtuous on my G2. And I like both! well more the G2 but that has nothing to do with the rom

Does virtuous run gingerbread. I tried searching on here and googling all I find are compare and contrast between. Does viruous run gingerbread? I really want to use sense ui but want to also have ginger. Should I download?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Virtuous is still Froyo. From my understanding, there won't be a Sense Gingerbread ROM, until HTC releases a phone which has that. Then the developers here can dump the ROM and port it to other phones like the Vision.
Thanks for the response!

The 2.3 version of Sense is coming in a few months for the Desire series.

I don't care what anyone says, but I still think Froyo runs better on the G2 than Gingerbread. Better battery life, stable and quick. What more could you ask for?

Hate to break it to you but CM7 runs extremely fast and has better battery life than when I ran CM6 or stock rooted froyo lol.
/2 cents
They seem to run equally when i tried both.
Now to answer the OP's question, virtuous does not run gingerbread.. yet. when the gingerbread rom from HTC is released for the desire Z during spring, and someone dumps the rom or HTC releases it, then virtuous should have it.

CM7 does run really fast, I totally agree with you. However, I have had the crappiest battery life running several iterations of CM7 (RC1, nightlies), and I was only getting about 8 hours of battery life. Virtuous gives me 18-24 hours of battery life running the Standard kernel at 1.0 GHz (with decent usage). I'm not bashing CM7 as I've been a long-time user of Cyanogen ROMs, I just need a ROM that gives me good performance with great battery life.
What are you using, and your thoughts on the ROM itself...
Currently on MIUI v1.3.25 with Android Version 2.3.3. By far the best ROM ive used for android in a while.
cm7 Tons of features and I haven't noticed any bugs yet.
Using V2 fast mexdroid. Its the best rom out there. Try it out

I'm using last miui 1.4.15(android 2.3.3) and I'm really satisfied with it. Good speed, perfect performance, no lags after full customization for my everyday use.
I also use the same rom on my htc hd2.

Yes, try this ROM! In my opinion the best ROM without Sense. Fast, simple and so far no bugs with my Desire Z....
Thanks xboarder56
Using cm7 nightlies. Has not been a new one in about five days I'm getting real bored with it. Ultimate droid is the fastest and most stable out of any rom available. Its a shame this forum does not support it. Anyone interested in obtaining this rom just pm me it rocks. Its based on cm7 final and retains all the function of cm7 and adds a WHOLE lot more. Way less lag than cm7 also.

Me too, but the Ganii edition which is a little bit updated with more features. By far the best ROM out there with no problems l!
I was a hardcore cm7 fan, now converted to gani's latest miui bread. It just works....so....good. and its dead sexy...

i'm actually using xboarder56's stock gingerbread rom. it works flawlessly and the battery life is great. plus with a custom theme on it, its just drop dead sexy
eViL's G2-4G, port of the MT4G rom.. to me its the best SENSE out there.
Ultimate droid 3.3.0
Best Rom I have run yet, coming from a loyal cm6, got bored waiting for cm7 bugs to get worked out. Love the work, I just couldn't take it anymore.
Ultimate droid like above said, is based on compiling a collection of the most popular features and is based on cm7.
Rock solid, fast, and never been happier.
My two cents

Cm7 nightly 51, with gingerbread kernal from rom manager. Latest radio. And clocked to min: 768 max:998. On domand battery life fixed threw set cpu tweaks went from 5 hours of battery life to 24 hours of battery liife. Still testing tweaks.

update for ud 3.3.0
after using superwipeG2+ and reflashing the ud 3.3.0 I ran into a weird spont power shut off on occasion. I reflashed the rom again, and now any of the few bugs that I had prior are resolved! I highly reccomend anyone having glitch's try this method.
superwipeG2+ then flash, then restore all with titanium backup, then reflash without any wipes.
This has made me so happy! I have a fully modded phone now with no problems for the first time in months!!!
meXdroidMod meXperia V2, loving this, very fast overclocked at 1.5GHz.
So far on this G2, I had enomthers The Official, CM 6.1.1 and now meXdroidMod
G2 meXdroidMod meXperia V2, OC'd 1.5GHz
Is there a sticky with all the places to download these ROMS?
In reading this thread, I realize that there are many more ROMS out there than I know about. So my question is there a sticky/FAQ that has a semi-up-to-date list of ROMS and where to go to download them (and maybe their support/info page)?
thanks,

So I rooted my phone using donjuans guide. I believe I have cyanogen 5.0.8.
While its nice I don't like the 2.1 android deal. I liked the 2.2.1 on here(OEM).
After browsing these forums I've seen mainly Ginger yoshi and cyanogen. Could someone compare the 2 for me? Is 2.3 worth it? How easy is it to go from one to the other.
I'm a noob to this business but not an idiot so hopefully I wont be much of a bother to the xda gods.

I'm running a rooted Evo 3d so I don't know much about what goes on here. My wife has finally decided to let me root her phone. What are some good stable ROMs that are a good balance of preformance and speed? Preferably de-bloated. Also is there a preference root method. I'm at work and on my phone so my ability to research is a bit limited for now. Thanks
Well my friend, this is the EVO 4G section, not the EVO 3d section =p but I would say check out team nocturnal and swagstr for roms for the 4g if its what your using.. Usually very stable and fast. If your looking for 3d roms, try team nocturnal also
My wife is using the OG Evo. I'm set on my situation. I was looking into rooting her phone for her. I'll look into Nocturnal.
I would recommend Mikg rom it is completely stable has a lot of themes and amazing support. As for root method it depends on android version. If the phone is 2.3.5 you have to use HTCdev its like hboot 1.5 for the og. If its 2.3.3 you have to use revolutionary.io and check what hboot you have. If 2.2 you have to use unrevoked

Also, if your wife is kind of a girly girl, diablo67 has a pink themed ROM on here that he put a lot of work into.

SOS X..Sense, No bloat, fast and when combined with lionfish kernel you get great AOSP-like battery life...
I'd agree with the SOS X recommendation. Can't go wrong with MikG though.
Root your wife's phone? Run in the opposite direction and run very fast... No win situation! lol

Tommy Tomato EVO CLASSIC ROM... I have tried many others and this is by far the best sense rom I have used. Extremely smooth and stable. I've even tried a few after being on it for awhile, but I keep coming back to the classic. I say give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

I have been running rooted for 5 months and have become very fond of the Cyanogen Mod7.1. this has been very solid and i discover new functionality daily. This make your evo the swiss army knife of phones.
Nitrous
I can't say enough about Nitrous -- running it for a couple months now. The RAM to SDcard feature gives me loads of memory to work with, and the ROM is super fast even considering that the SD RAM probably adds lag time.
CyanogenMod 7.1

You should also partition her sd card to get more space with any rom you use. I'll say MIUI its clean and simple and many many themes.
