Is there a way to update to the eb01 radio using a .zip and flashing through cwm. I don't have the ability to use odin so that is not an option. Thanks.

Heimdall is what you want if you can't use Odin.
I assume you aren't using windows.
The only reason I thought there might be is that when you receive an ota to a new build your phone radio gets updated too. How can we not find a way to update through cwm then?

I'd be interested in this too. For some reason, I can't seem to get my PC to recognize a friend's phone, either USB, or download mode, but my device works just fine, so this would help, as the tard accidentally tried updating to EA28 when she was on a rooted DL09, and it borked her phone up.
Any suggestions ????

how do you get heimdall to install on ubuntu? it's not in the software center, and it won't let me install it when I download it through ftp.

Heimdall does not work on my osx version and on their website it says only works with fascinates on froyo, and says find a way to get there first. B/C of bootloader issues with 2.1

I updated to dj05 and my text messages doesn't work. I need the radio file and I cant find it. the dj05 modem.tar file I have I cant get odin to flash it. I also have 1212testnovodoo file and cant seem to get it to work. Someone please help

How are you trying to flash the modem? You can't flash the modem in clockwork like the ROM/Kernel, you need to flash it with Odin.
I tried both ways. The downloads I got are not files they look like paper and I cannot even open them on my pc.

Do you know what odin is? You don't need to open the files. Just flash a DI01 rom back and you will be fine.

considering its very likely there will be some update coming out for the Fascinate on Monday... why not just wait for that?
Does the modem file have a file extension on it? I seem to remember having an issue where I downloaded one of the DJ05 files, and it it didn't have a file extension on it and wouldn't work. I believe I fixed it by just adding the appropriate extension onto the file. Might not have been the modem file, though.

The modem file is a .tar file. To flash via Odin, you need to ensure you are using Odin 3 and not Odin 4 (it will not work with Odin 4) and load it as a PDA file to flash.
I have odin v4.16 i**** this the right one? If not can you give me a link for the correct one

No, that is why you are having issues (I tried it initially using 4.16 and it failed, switched to v3 and it worked no problem).
There is a link to it in one of the odin threads in this forum, I can't find it atm but will post it when I get home.

I actually had an issue updating also, ended up being I was doing it from a 64bit system, tried it on a 32bit system I had, and it worked fine. I have heard people saying that they did it from a 64bit, but I didn't have any success.
I just rooted my friends Fascinate using SuperOneClick and then I installed Rom Manager and flashed clockwork mod but when i go into recovery it says it installation of update.zip failed. Where can I get the update.zip for it. I am trying to flash the dl-30 leaked rom thats out I have it. just cant get the update.zip so he can properly use clockwork mod.
You need to first flash CWM via Odin, before you can use the update.zip. Also, DL30 is an OLD and buggy froyo leak, EB01 is the most recent one, and the ones most of the new roms are being based on.

I was getting ready to Flash the EE03 Rom so I tried to get into clockwork but was stuck on the SAMSUNG Bootup screen, and the bottom menu/home keys won't turn on.

can't boot into clockwork, could only boot into download mode.
Make sure you're using the specified version of clockwork in the directions.

Yes, I'm using the latest version. But that doesn't matter because I can't even get into CWM. It's stuck on Samsung Screen during bootup, bottom lights won't light up.
ahh.... i'll just start all over and ODIN back to EC05. Hopefully that will work.

Yes Odin to stock EC05. Root with CWM3.0.2.5 one-click then flash the rom. I had the same problem. Make sure the ROM is on your SD card before you get started though.

No. All fixed now. Thank goodness. I just ODIN back to stock, re-rooted with CWM, and started over. All is working well!
Odin always works
Same thing happened to me my first flash of EE03. Re Odin, reflash and make sure to properly wipe.....lol.... I flashed the rom and the add ons first, then odin'ed the modem. The second time it worked like a charm. Give it a try, you will love the results.... Btw, try out the tw4 theme too..... Amazing

so i just aquired my epic had the evo figured id give this one a wirl... but first off i need to find out how to root and aquire cwm as well. with the evo all i did was run some app and it ran all the batch files and such for me.. so i am wondering if there is something similar for the e7ic, keep in mind i am a flashaholic...

Yes roms in the developement section here can all usually be flashed through cwm unless otherwise stated. And I've never needed to unroot, but odin is a windows gui for flashing tar's(which are roms usually official and modems). You use Odin when you want to go back to complete stock, or modems usually. You can do other things with Odin such as flash custom recoveries like cwm. Odin is your bestfriend if you mess something up, always make sure to use a premium blackberry or other thick cable besides the one that came with the phone when using odin.(most people have difficulties with stock cable.)

may be a bad download. try downloading the modem again.
Reboot your computer. Sometimes the driver gets mucked up.
Can you inform us on what version of Odin you're on? Just for analytic purposes?

sounds like it, sometimes, I've found that different versions have different outcomes, hence, asking for the version he was using.

I say it's more likely the USB cable. Mine do that. I just haven't gotten around to buying a new one that doesn't suck ass. I use 1.61 btw.
