Delivery Reports not working with EB16 / SC 2.6 - Fascinate General

Just flashed SC 2.6, coming from 2.4. Full data wipe, cache wipe, and davlik, flashed SC 2.6 first, then jt's EB16 kernel. Voodoo if it matters.
Delivery Reports just aren't working. The option is enabled.

just got a delivery report on a pic message I sent this morning are u sure the option is checked? Also I'm not sure it sends delivery reports for text just mms I think.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App

Yes, its checked, and yes, delivery reports work on sms. Mine were working on SC 2.4 with EB01.

Reports only work to Verizon recipients.

Open up Messaging, click Menu hotkey, go to Settings, uncheck "Delivery Reports".
Granted, I'm using the JT nonvoodoo EB16 dummytether flashed over Blackhole 4.21, but that shouldn't make a difference I don't think.

I'm aware. The recipient is on Verizon. They were working fine before I updated.

Update: I just downloaded GO Sms to test it out, as I remember from the past it also supports delivery reciepts. It's working fine, I send the msg to the same person, and I get the delivery reciept back.
I'm guessing the problem is in the default sms app that comes with SC 2.6
Update 2: In the past, when the stock sms app was correctly handling delivery reports, if I were to send a msg via GO Sms, and wait for the delivery report, when I then viewed that same msg in the stock sms app, it also would show the delivery confirmation. This is also not working anymore, GO Sms is receiving the delivery report, but it's not being reflected in the stock sms app like it normally would. There's definitely a problem in the stock sms app.

If you would use your eyes and read the menus. The only one you can actually turn of is the MMS one. not the SMS one.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

still having the issue. Delivery reports aren't working in the stock sms app, but they're working in Go sms

So,
You found it was working with Go SMS, deduced that it doesn't work with the stock SMS app I included (which is entirely possible), and are still surprised the issue remains?
I'll fix it in 2.7. However, its not going to spontaneously repair itself

I had the problem for a couple days after getting my hero. I connected it to my task killer. Here's some stuff you can try.
reboot and try agian
make sure auto recieve is on
update your prl
download 3rd party messenger app
restore to stock
if still screwed up... contact sprint
I haven't had the first problem with my sms's after rooting and installing a modaco's rom
Make sure you enable auto-retreival of sms and mms in whatever messaging app you're using and report back to us.
well i updated the prl. i have no idea what that is, but apparently it worked. did that and rebooted and it seems to be working fine now.

Few steps:
1. Go in to the default Messaging app > Menu > Settings and uncheck retreive sms and mms > uncheck notifications
2. Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage > Messaging > Clear Defaults
3. Go to the people app, do like your going to send an sms message, a pop up will come up asking which app yyou'd like to do this from > check-mark default and select your preffered messaging app
4. paypal me $1

UPDATE: BALLS!!! it don't work... :/
what does work is under people > contact > hold down on send message and you can choose default
I just started having this problem after doing the root and modaco rom. I have tried a PRL update, hard reset, and numerous soft resets, verified my auto-receive settings and have tried the stock app as well as handcent.
Any ideas?

Notifications are turned off by the following:
Go into the Default Messaging app (HTC's buggy one)
Menu > Settings > Scroll Down and Uncheck Notifications
well it went from working earlier today to not working again. i cant figure it out. nothing changed and at somepoint today,i stopped getting my texts. my wife called me from work wondering why i hadnt gotten back to her cos she had texted me 3 times. i was texting with her back and forth earlier in the day and now nothing. they send fine. i just stop getting them

Are you saying you removed the stock messaging application? If so, my understanding is that would be very problematic at best. Unfortunately the Hero still uses some code from the default Messaging app (even if you are using Handcent SMS or Chomp and have it set as the default SMS client)
"Long time listener. First time caller"
not the stock messaging app, the stock app
So, the more I'm reading about this issue, the more it appears this is possibly a permanent problem on the device once it appears. I have tried everything and cannot receive a text.

Can you provide a list of all the sprint/stock stuff that you removed?
So I called sprint tech support today. The tech was pretty helpful and seemed to be familiar with the hero. After 30 mins of various tests he came to the conclusion that I had originally suggested (bluetooth causes low ROM) and asked me to exchange the phone at a local store because htc wants this "batch" of phones back.
I find it hard to believe this issue is limited to a "batch" of phones as that would indicate that they know exactly what is causing the problem and would be able to fix it.

Text message after getting voicemail

Ok so I'm on bonsai 1.1.3 with the new cwm and emotionless beast theme. This just started a couple days ago. When I get a new voicemail I then all of a sudden get a new text message. The text message is from 9016 and it says android ###-###-#### (the phone number that sent me the voicemail) has sent you a sprint voice message. Call 408-970-0000. Mmsn,106bee099,9fc6,v69bdosvezi//cm. This is just one example of one I got. Like I said it just started a couple days ago. Anyone ever had this and know what it is? It's really annoying when this happens. Thanks for your help!
Do you have the no bubble messaging app? Or the stock messaging app?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I have this too after I replaced the bubble MMS app with the white one with square pictures on the left (similar to a facebook chat looking thing). Looks like the evo sms app from what i've seen.
Is that whats causing it? All I did was push the Mms.apk from viperrom to bonsai 1.13
all you have to do is blacklist the number the text message comes from. Not sure if the stock app will do it, but handcent will.
I never changed my SMS or anything. I just updated the bonsai rom. As soon as I get my voicemail notification I get those new text messages.
This is happening to me as well.
this is going to be funny...
but can someone attach the MMS.apk that is causing..i kinda actually want this to happen after i get a voicemail..
thanks

I just have my VM setup to forward to my Google Voice number. That way I never get VM in my Sprint inbox - no fuss with visual VM either. You can use either the Google Voice app or have Google Voice send you a text.
Anybody know why its happening. Is it something in the bonsai rom cause.i havent messed with my sms and voicemail?
Sent from my Evo killer!
that is the visual voicemail to text thing it happens on all phones with vvm to text, call tech support tell them to block the number from texting and problem solved, i have to do this a few times a day d]since i do their tech support lol
Its from the messaging app with the rom. Its using the no bubble mod with the 5mb mod. I figured out that was causing it and just found a stock messaging.apk in the theme forums. Once you switch it out, call your self a couple times and you will notice the text after voicemail goes away.

I'm not positive, but I think if you are getting VM notification texts saying "call 408-970-0000(or any number)to listen to your VM messages, its because your voice mail isn't provisioned properly. The network doesn't realize your phone has visual voice mail, so its sending you a text to let you know to call to hear them. This happened to me a few times on my HTC hero when flashing cyanogen mod, and also a few times on my epic when i had a bad flash, or i had a poor signal on my first boot.
You should be receiving a message with a sort of code in it, something like {android}/noreply/notificationon(i don't remember the exact syntacs or message, but it will look something like that) it was caused by your MMS.apk.
When i had the provisioning issue, this is what i did to resolve it:
1. Dialed *38(resets VM to carrier in case it as setup to go to google voice, or other third party VM).
2. Open the VVM app
3. Hit menu
4. press Compose
5. in the "to" field put "[email protected]"
6. press record
7. as soon as the "send" button ungrays and ill allow you to, press it.
If this doesn't work you can try making a nandroid backup and odining to a stock rom, then re-rooting and restoring your nandroid.
Best of luck

I have this same issue, but when I blacklist it with Handcent, it still gives me a notification that I have an unread text message even though it doesn't show up on my conversation list...Looks like I might just have to go back to stock and re-root unfortunately...
PS - Also tried the above and haven't seen any changes, still get the stupid 9016 text that I have an unread voicemail...
Well I did the email to activate and got a txt back. Still get the 9016...odd didn't happed on qr 2.67 but mold mms is 1.73 theme did....

I'm pretty sure this is google voicemail interfering with your regular voice mail. You need to go into gvoice and deactivate the number from going to google, and it will stop.
I'm using viper rom and get the same text message so it is not rom specific. I have tried the messaging.apk change and still get the messages. Does not appear anything is working so far to stop the texts

Dual SMS Notifications

I am having a right mare! I use Handcent, however I keep getting dual notifications. One from Handcent and one from the stock SMS App. I have turned off Notifications from within the stock App and still they come through.
I have even gone so far as removing the MMS/SMS App with root explorer and still they persist. It is frankly driving me mental. I want to keep ONLY the Handcent one.
Can anyone suggest anywhere to look? I am rooted with Pauls R10 Modaco ROM!
You forgot to disable notifications from the stock app settings which I believe are connected to but not accessible from the stock settings.

Same issue I had. I went into the stock messaging app, under menu, settings, notifications, unchecked the box. That worked for me.

As per the original title I have gone into the Stock App and settings menu from there and disabled them and they still pop up.
You actually did not mention that and frankly I'm inclined to believe that it is still the issue as there would be no other reason I can think of why they would be coming up.

On second thoughts I wonder if this is coming from Elsewhere
If I enable notifications in the stock App I get The smiley face symbol with sender name and message, Handcent notification AND a 3rd one which seems to be the problem one. This simply sats You have New Message(s) You have an unread message. Also when the SMS is read this does not go away either
So where the hell is that one coming from LOL?

You mean when you enable notifications you get a 3rd popup that is the smiley face in a chat bubble? What happens when you open the unknown notification? What app opens? And if its the stock messaging app, try clearing its defaults.
That is correct about the smiley face chat bubble. When the notification pops up it will open up Handcent. I have tried clearing the defaults as well with no joy.
i had this problem when i was using Handcent
so i removed it
now i'm using GO SMS, same as handcent but better, and it does not have the problem that handcent was having
i only get 1 sms/mms alert instead of 2 when handcent is installed

Phone randomly not receiving texts

Hello,
I'm running SRF 1.1.0 and using Go SMS Pro.
Lately my phone has been receiving the notifications for a new text, but as soon as I click on it it doesn't show up in the message thread. It also doesn't appear in the stock messaging app. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm running the VisionKernal 1.0 and was on the EE03 modem but switched back to the EC05 modem.
Thanks!
Get rid of the sms app use the stock one. Or google voice integrate it works awesome. Even if you have no service but are on wifi you can still text.
Also id suggest you get on srf 1.1.1 and odin the ee03 modem

I've had this same problem with GO SMS. It seems to be an issue with the popup. When I disable GO notifications and simplying use the Messaging app, everything works smoothly. It's likely just a bug in the latest GO SMS version. Report it. Their dev team is pretty quick on updates and bug fixes.

Thanks guys. I actually don't use the Go SMS pop up but I'm pretty reliant on the way their notifications work. I've reported the bug, hope an update comes soon.

[Q] Not getting voicemail notification

Hi,
Hope someone can help, I am running the Offical EE03 posted by k0nane and so far love the rom but running into a couple of errors and wondered if anyone had any thoughts
First problem and maybe the only important one, if i get a voicemail my phone does not notify me nor does any show up in the Voicemail app. Only way is to check the voicemail manually but sometimes i don't realize that I have a voicemail for days, even weeks. If anyone knows a way to initialize it I would be appriciative.
Other problem I have found but not nearly as pressing is I can't be heard if I use speakerphone or a headset with a mic, I can however use just regular ear buds leave phone in lap and they can hear me just fine
Why don't you update to ef02? That may help. You are still using the first GB leak.

turn off wifi turn on 4g
send a vvm to [email protected]
it seems that it doesnt know where to go on 3g, and CANT go on wifi but on 4g it connects and activates and provisions fine.
Thanks, guess i'll have to install new version cause it worked and it also didnt, it notifies me that there is a message waiting but VM app can't download it
Having the same issue with EF02. I tried the activate email address but I just get the message that voicemail failed to provision.

through a bit of googling it appears to be related to using a non stock messaging app. I'm surprised more people aren't reporting it. It caused some major problems at work today for me.
Apparently Go Sms Pro has a toggle to make it only handle incoming messages but it's not where it's supposed to be (Settings-Receive Settings).
Using stock Samsprint bubble mms and no go. /shrug
Didn't know mms app handled the activation voice mail response.
If I get some time will test the aosp mms app. See if that makes a diff.

Hmm, yeah I'm on Bonsai EC05. This has to have something to do on Sprint's side.
Ok, for a few users it appears to be related to new settings in Handcent and Go SMS
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/305100#305100
For Go SMS users the July 1 update has a setting that automatically disables the notifications in the default messaging app. You can find it under "Receive Settings"
After you've disabled it try composing a voicemail to yourself and all the remaining ones should download.
Those on stock, I'm still not sure what's causing it but maybe try composing a voicemail to yourself and see if that fixes it?
