Ok I been reading alot about people having a problem getting gapps on there phone. I tried all I read none work. Here is what I'm working with. Rooted using unrevoked, I downloaded Tom manager and used it to get cyangenomod 6 r2. I had to download with out that Google app. Checked because it wouldn't load with it. I have downloaded the gapps file from some diffrent places. I see the files when I do clockwork recovery boot. When I apply it I can get. All the way to the screen with the android it says touch to begin but when u touch it just lights up and.nothing happens. If I back up and reflash the rom with the Google app checked it will get to thescreen where it has the blue Droid says cyangenmod with the circle spinning around and it will never load. But with no gapps it loads fine. Please help this is use less with no market.
Did you wipe data before installing the ROM?

I don't understand...it's simple. Download the gapps package to your phone, move it to the root of your sdcard (i.e. /sdcard) then boot into clockwork, install zip from flash card, choose zip, choose the gapps package and voila.
http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-mdpi-20101020-signed.zip
The exact steps to follow:
1. Root with unrevoked.
2. Wipe data/factory reset
3. Install CM6.1 RC2
4. Install gapps
5. Reboot device and everything should work nicely.

It might be worth his while to boot into the ROM after flashing it, then boot back to clockwork and flash the gapps package.
This is what. II see the zip file and u click it and it say installed syccesfully Bujumbura when u reboot it never loads to my home screen.

dujumbura? What are the procedures you are following to flash the package? Are you using ROM manager? Do you have your phone plugged into USB while booting into clockwork? gotta be a little more specific my friend.

Sorry that word was a typo lol. I used rom manager to get the rom. I download the gapps to my SD card using the browser on my phone.
I go into clockwork to install the gapps and reload cygeno. Is this correct way?it works fine all but Google apps.

Are you using ROM manager to install gapps? If you are, don't. Just use clockwork. I understand it's the long way, and its somewhat of a pain compared to using ROM manager...but i've read about a lot of people having issues with doing things like this via ROM manager...
Ok here is what I just did. I downloaded the above link. I turned my phone off booted into clockwork. Found the above file. Installed it. Rebooted. It loaded. Past the cygeno screen where it then asked me if I wanted to back up with Google I checked no. Then hit continue. It goes to a screen says welcome to libirty. Touch the android to start. A little hand is touching. II do this and nothing happens. I downloaded with my phone browsers.

Should I just start fresh and do all his from a PC from the start. What do I do just format my memory card an restore from the very first restore?
Ok I'm posting to let any one know that may have this problem. I fixed this easy. I just downloaded the gapps for my phone straight from my phone browser except I got the tiny one instead. Clockwork, zip file, install the zip, reboot, bam all Google apps there. For some reason the tiny was the right one for my phone.

So I just installed CM7 on my evo and the market closes no more than a second after I tap it. I've already wiped the caches(dalvik included)and wiped and reinstalled CM7. I can't figure it out. Anyone know what going on?

Which GAPPS did you install?
I installed the pack included in the battery mod .zip on the CM7 page in the dev forum.
Magnus's CM7, that is the only one that I saw with the batterymod flashable.
If soo the GAPPS shouldn't have been packaged with the battmod. Also if you downloaded the one that was called "NewMarket" you shouldn't flash that until after the phone has fully booted up with the initial flash of GAPPS.
If you are looking for CM7 specifically, i recommend using the teamdouche buildbot.
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic
The topmost download will always be the latest build of CM7, and use this GAPPS download with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the rom and the gapps whem I get home.
Pretty much.. just wipe the market cache and data. Then launch the application again.

Thank you very much. It turned out that it was just the Gapps that I flashed. I used your package and it works flawlessly now.
I just installed CM7 stable using eyeballer's guide but can't get gapps to work. When I installed everything from the bootable CWM it all seemed to work fine. CM7, gapps, the OC kernel, and CWM all said they installed correctly in CWM. I booted into CM7 just fine and it seems that everything is working, except there aren't any gapps. I tried reinstalling them several times with no luck. I saw in another thread that "fixing permissions" in CWM worked for someone, but it didn't for me. I did some more searching but didn't find anything else that seemed to help in my situation. I'm sure I missed something in my search, but it's late and I need to get to bed.
Any ideas? Sorry I couldn't find the answer on my own.
Thanks!

Did you actually look to see if they are there in /system/app? Did you try reinstalling them, maybe gapps didn't actually install?
connect to wifi after flashing gaaps
I never checked the systzem/apps folder. I just assumed they'd be in the launchers app tray that shows all your apps. Each time I installed gapps in CWR it looked like it installed just fine. There was never an error message. Ill check that directory when I get home.
I've been connected to wifi since I installed CM7 so I wouldn't think that was the problem. Should I disconnect wifi, reinstall gapps through CWR, boot into CM7, turn on wifi, and gapps should show up?
Thanks guys!!!!

Honestly I know it sounds weird but its been confirmed from several people that if after flashing GAAPS you dont see the market icon, then connect to wifi. I can also confirm that it was hidden for me after flashing. Then wifi connect, then then icon shows up on the home screen....weird.

Gapps Still Not Working
I have installed CM7 and Gapps on a Samsung Fascinate via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116424
After it didn't work the first time, I started digging for a solution. Following the advise in this current thread I reinstalled Gapps, booted up and started WiFi. Still no market icon on the home page. So I disabled WiFi, rebooted for good measure, and re-enabled WiFi. Still no market icon.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I figured out the issue! This is VERY IMPORTANT and I couldn't really find it spelled out anywhere. You cannot boot into recovery mode via the 3 finger method when installing the Gapps. You must use the menu within Cyanogen (reboot -> recovery) to get into recovery mode. Then everything works as expected.
Had same problem with ZTE v9 tablet, had to add my Google account in settings -> accounts & sync while having a decent data connection (wifi / good 3g) and then market app and associated apps installed automatically.
hey there.
i flashed cm7 on my sgs2. and with it the latest version of gapps. i had the market from the beginning. but no other google apps. i tried everything you posted here. but it did not work.
since i had access to the market i now installed maps (and along with it latitude and navigation). but there is no gmail-app on the market. so i do not have that. any other idea to get it?

I have this exact same problem. I have just installed CM7 on my samsung galaxy pop/mini. I installed the gapps zip file through CWM. Installation finished just fine without any errors. Reboot done. No market icon or any other gapp icon shows up on the homescreen on the app drawer. So I started wifi. Connected. Still no icon. So I installed just the market apk from the internet. The apk installed fine but it asks me to add an account. So I click on yes and it takes me back to home screen. I went to Settings>Accounts and Sync. Clicked on Add account but it doesn't give me an option to select the type of a/c(Eg. Google, FB, Twitter, Etc.). The wizard that I get says Add an Exchange a/c. It just simply doesn't allow me to add a google a/c. Please help guys.
Note: I never got any option to sign in with my google a/c at first boot..
I'm also having problems with installing gapps downloaded at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Gapps#Google_Apps.
I try to reboot to recovery, but the blue text just says that "gapps was not found".
Is there a specific place that the gapps zip file needs to be saved? I downloaded it via the Nook and it got saved to the sdcard's "download" folder. I've read that I need to save it under the "boot" partition... how do I do that? Can I do this through the terminal emulator?
Thanks!

Yes... in T.E.:
mkdir /sdcard/boot
mount /dev/block/mmcbkl1p1 /sdcard/temp
cp /sdcard/download/GAPPS FILE.zip /sdcard/boot
For some reason "mount" was a not a valid command line operation... so I got off my lazy ass and moved the file over to the boot partition using a linux box that I had. Problem solved!
A couple of tips if you are installing the gapps. zip through CWR yet still find no google apis upon booting up.
1) wipe data and partition in CWR like usual, but also wipe DAVLIK cache before installing encore and gapps zip. you will find the wipe DAVLIK option in the advanced menu in CWR. I know that this step is omitted in many of the how-to's, because it is not always necessary. If you are having trouble with installed gapps not showing up, try this.
2) Pay attention to the version number of CWR! When I wrote the clockwork image to my SD card, I must have followed an old link. I didn't notice until much later that the clockwork that booted off mt SD card was 3.005. this caused major issues once I flashed a current version of CWR through the ROM manager (3.023). I encountered missing md5 sums in my back ups, and would get error messages "cannot mount system". Additionally, when I would attempt to reflash my zips, the google apis would not appear, and the only way to get them was to reinstall them through titanium backup.
I believe this wad because I wad using two incompatible versions of CWR. if I rebooted to recovery through the ROM Manager instead of simply loading from the SD card, I would be in the current version, where I wiped the data and partition like usual, wiped the DAVLIK to be sure, and then boom, the setup for google loaded upon boot.
Slip the registration process until you are connected to wifi. that is why some of the above users did not see the market until they connected to a network.
Hope this helps some people, it drove me crazy until I figures it out.

In this case... you can use:
busybox mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard/boot
Sometimes busybox commands are not symlinked but are available by specifying "busybox" command

EDIT: The below issue has been fixed. Here's the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110599
---
Howdy folks!
I've just bought a Nook Color, and I followed these instructions to the letter:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barnes_&_Noble_Nook_Color:_Full_Update_Guide
(I've done it before and it worked perfectly)
However, this time after installing CM7 and the GApps zips, I reboot and I cannot see the Market app. It doesn't exist. (see attached image).
I thought maybe it was just a problem where I simply have to add a google account...
I go to menu->settings->accounts and sync->add account
Rather than the normal "choose an account type" dialog, It says "you can configure an exchange account" and I am not given the option to choose a Google account.
I reimaged a different SD card and rebooted into recovery using that card and wiped data, wiped cache, installed CM7, installed gapps, and rebooted.
Once again, the same exact issue.
I reboot to recovery again and this time I just install gapps and reboot... same issue...
Any help would be extremely appreciated, and if you can solve this problem for me, I'll even 'donate' 5 bucks if you have that set up.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated here.
Thanks!
Could it matter what version of CM7 you're using?
Thank you for the response.
I've tried CM7.0.3 and the latest nightly [today]
Google Apps pretty clearly did not install. My best guess is either you somehow grabbed the wrong package or your download just got corrupted. You should scrap the gapps...zip you downloaded and re-download this package:
I just tried it to double-check, and the main download link was flagged malicious by Avast and didn't load, so I used the mirror. Try that.
With CM7 installed, make sure Wi-Fi is set up (sometimes prevents complications), then reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery. Insert the SD card with the new gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip file in the root directory. Choose "install zip from sd card," then "choose zip from sd card," then "gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip," then "Yes."
You should see some text in the bottom half of the display indicating that the install is proceeding, and eventually that it has finished. Click the power button to back out to the main menu, then "reboot system now."
If that doesn't do it, I've about exhausted my knowledge.
Hello, and thank you for the reply.
I've tried it on two different sytems on 3 different nooks with 3 different SD cards and various different versions of gapps and CM7 including the nightlies.
This problem started when the nooks with the "green stickers" came out.
(Green sticker indicates that it has the new version of Nook software, while a blue sticker indicates that it has the weird new partitioning scheme. These do not have the blue sticker.)
I've tried enabling wifi and whatnot, and then reinstalling the gapps package but no bueno. The apks don't even seem to exist in the system\app directory.
This is a global problem with any new Nooks. I think i just happen to be one of the first ones to experience it.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
This has been an ongoing problem for me since I came back to CM7 from HC last week. I don't think it has anything to do with the old or new because I got my NC on launch day.
I had figured that it was just something I had done (I get distracted easily so following directions is....oooooh! A bunny! ) but I've reflashed CM7 and GApps 3 seperate times.
It's only really an annoyance for me since I had most of my apps backed up and I've managed to get the Amazon store and AppPlanet up and running. I'd just like to get the Google market running just so I can have the Trifecta.
I really hope we can figure this out. I know this can't be just me.
What actually happens when you try to install the gapps zip? Does CWM indicate that it is in fact installing the package, and then that it's done?

indeed it does
some added info:
on the "green sticker" nooks, when you try to flash the update OR the gapps, it says it can't mount system or data to make logs, but still seems to work fine. If I manually mount system or data first, it doesn't throw the errors. After flashing CM7, I get fewer errors. CM7 flashes just fine, and the gapps install and CM7 both say install completed, it's just the gapps that don't show up :S
I've heard some people were having trouble flashing the latest stable 7.0.3 and getting gapps to install. This worked for me. I flashed cm7.0.2 from cyanogens site and the google apps add on on the same page. I then flashed 7.0.3 without the google apps add on included with 7.0.3 and it worked. Hope that helps some people
I'm not really sure what you're saying. The gapps aren't installing is the problem.
S/He's saying try installing the previous stable build and see if gapps will install with that. If so, you can then upgrade to 7.0.3 and gapps should remain in place. Technically that's what I did, just because the new stable came out after I had 7.0.2 up and running on SD, but I didn't have any problems flashing gapps with the 7.1 beta to eMMC later on.
ah, I see - I tried that. in fact, I know that on previous versions of the Nook, the gapps installed just fine. I think it's something to do with the 'green sticker nooks'.
I hope this gets or has gotten solved as I just bought a "green dot" NC.
The issue persists, I'm afraid. While it seems I'm not the only one with the problem, there appears to be no solution.
Update: The issue persists on the "blue dot" nooks.
Several 'green-dot' owners have reported installing everything just fine, so that may not be the source of your woes. Have you tried the repartitioning thread for blue-dots, even though you don't have a blue-dot? It seems like your best bet is to one way or another get your NC into a state identical to machines that aren't having this issue.

0_o where did you even get something like that? The current version is 3.0.2.8

I used the one on the CM7 wiki but I can see that wiki has been updated this week. I will try the one you linked and get back on this thread if it works. Thanks a ton. Hope this hasn't all been due to my retardedness. B-)
Hi Everyone,
Sorry my first ever post is a question, but I have looked around a lot and can't find an answer for my problem.
I have a 16gb nexus 7 that I have rooted and unlocked the bootloader. I have successfully flashed both CM10 and AOKP roms, but each time flashing the GAPPS afterwards results in absolutely nothing. The ROMs work fine, and I can still access the Play store, but none of the GAPPS show up in my Applications folder. I have tried this multiple times with multiple GAPPS zips.
I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, but interestingly I can only get into it by rebooting via CM10 or AOKP reboot to recovery options, or through ROM Manager's reboot option. If I manually enter fastboot then try to go to recovery it hangs on the Google loading page.
I am okay with the CWM issue, but I would really like to be able to flash the GAPPS zips! I change ROMs a lot (I have a Galaxy Nexus, which I have never had any issues with), so manually installing the google apps each time would be a pain.
Any help would be appreciated!
Hello,
Are you flashing this right after flashing the rom or are you booting into the rom then restarting and flashing the gapps?
You should be doing this...
Be sure to back up your current ROM!
Update your radio to the above recommended version if you have not already done so.
Wipe data/factory reset.
Format /system (mounts and storage->format /system).
Install the zip from SD card.
Install the gapps zip from SD card.
ONLY IF YOU ARE ON NON-TOUCH CWM RECOVERY: Install darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip (which fixes bootloop due to bad /cache format)
ONLY IF YOU ARE ON TOUCH CWM RECOVERY: Format /cache (mounts and storage->format /cache)
Reboot. Let it sit for a few minutes after the first boot. Be patient.\
good luck!!
Yes I flash the gapps immediately after flashing the rom without actually booting in to the rom first.
I have been doing a full wipe, but I did not re-format so I will try that later when I have time.
Also, never heard of the darkside wipe cache zip so that is probably my issue with the bootloop!
As for the radio, I could be totally wrong, but does the nexus 7 even have a radio file..? I thought that was just for phones or tablets that can connect to network carriers.
Thanks for the help!

hey i tried everything you said and still no gapps... I tried to do a titanium backup of the stock rom then use that to install the gapps on the aokp rom but that didnt work either. I did notice though that when I did not install the gapps package the play store wasnt installed, but if i install the gapps zip, the play store is there...just none of the other apps.

It would nice to not need to do that every time as I frequently flash new roms but oh well I will do that for now. Maybe it will change with a new update
I have the same issue. Using CWM I've installed two different roms and two different gapps versions (using the recommended procedure) both times my Nexus 7 boots up & the only Google app installed is Play Store.
I'm having a related problem with GAPPS but it's much more severe.
I have installed the Kaos rom on a Nexus 7 (and that install would ONLY succeed if one de-selected the GAPPS option during the Kaos installer process, otherwise you'd be thrown into infinite boot animation land) and everything was looking perfect.
Then i attempted to install GAPPS from a zip that was linked in a Nexus 7 thread. the specific package i used was...
gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
... and ever since that point the tablet cannot boot into the Android environment. It will attempt to, then hang for longer than it should at the Google logo screen (tiny lock at the bottom) and when that fails it will boot into the recovery environment.
I'm running TeamWin Recovery 2.2.1.4 because ClockworkMod constantly failed to work properly for me (never could manually launch recovery from the bootloader, but TWRP will launch manually just fine)
The TeamWin Recovery can see everything and even give me a terminal, and fastboot still sees the device just fine at the bootloader... so there's a lot i could try, if i only knew where to start.
The REAL annoying thing, however, is that i performed a backup just prior to attempting the GAPPS install (because of all the trouble this gives people) and now TWRP cannot successfully restore that backup. it can see both of the backups that i have made (stock and Kaos initial successful boot) but whenever i attempt to swipe to the side to start the restore, the whole recovery environment just restarts on me.
help? suggestions?
well, i see that i wasn't running the latest TWRP for the Nexus 7. i just used fastboot to flash to ver 2.3.2.1 and that appeared much happier.
it was able to see the two recovery images made by the earlier version and it's now restoring...
... and now we're rebooting...
... and KAOS appears to be proper booting...
... and back in business to the way it was before i tried the GAPPS install!
(this single run-on post -- as opposed to a series of small update posts -- brought to you by the faster processor and nice system specs of the Nexus 7 which kept on ticking along as i was typing here in my browser!)

and now i have successfully installed GAPPS using a 4.1.2 package... gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
it's amazing how things can go sideways so quickly if you're simply using the wrong version of one thing or another. and it's also amazing how quickly these threads become outdated given the very fast pace that Android keeps evolving and how fast the dev community pops up with new packages, roms, and mods of other roms.
speaking of which, the KAOS fork of CyanogenMod is excellent! i already love the Apex launcher more than the stock Trebuchet (little interface tweaks like a quick menu popup whenever you long press a home screen item, for example) and i think this is a wonderful rom package.
great work, and a wonderful installer... just remember to NOT include GAPPS during the initial rom install process! uncheck that box!
UPDATE: gapps install incomplete / market installs failing
So it seems that while my Nexus 7 now shows the Play Store (which i still find myself calling the Market because Play Store is a colossally dumb name) i don't see most other Google apps.
Background sync and all that is working, but maps and youtube and such are not there. I've read that these are removed from newer versions of the GAPPS pacakges because it takes up less space and said apps are in the Market anyway.
however, when i search for them and pull them up in the Google Market they fail to install. i do not know why this would be. it doesn't matter a WHOLE lot to me, because i don't use GMail, i run Brutal Maps instead of stock Google Maps, and NextVid is far better than the stock, bloated YouTube player.
still, it made me curious.
so, it appears that i am not the first person to experience the "Unknown error code during application install" error, naturally. the (very simple) fix is in this thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992241
