I remember have seen a video about using the Adam as a Digitizer
Was that app included with the Adam or it was some 3th party app?

This was done using a third party app, called RemoteDroid. It's not done with the adam being a true digitizer, it's done with it being a software based digitizer, and then transmitting the digitizer info over wifi or something to a server running on a laptop or desktop.

Here is a quick easy way to get to the TV Out toggle settings page.
I'm using LauncherPro to do this, but AnyCut or any programs like that should work too...
Long press on homescreen
Select Sortcuts
Select Activities
Expand Settings
Select TV out settings
Now you have a shortcut on your homescreen that takes you directly to the TV out settings page.
Obviously I would prefer a widget or something to accomplish this, but you have to work with what you got...
Nice one, props to you

Ive been using this exact same solution since I got the phone.
I agree it would be nice to have a toggle widget, but this really is the next best thing.
Awesome trick... thanks!

Is using tv out better than using allshare? quality wise i mean. I know there's an option to enable 5.1 but i wonder if it gets enabled when using allshare or not. haven't tried it yet though. any one know?
what are you guys "tv-out"ing with? what kind of wire? and what is the resolution that you get?
Cable only $3.50 and that includes shipping...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000GGQ2ZU/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
I don't know what the output resolution is.
As it's composite out, I assume the vertical resolution is limited to 525i(NTSC) or 576i(PAL).
When the phone orientation is landscape, the phone only really supports 480i as the screen resolution is only 800x480.

You can use TV out with allshare...
Basically stream your videos over the air, and play them on your TV.

I've seen a few threads on this but no solid answers so far....
Yahoo IM has a video call plug-in but it only utilizes the back side camera and is pretty spotty @ best and Skype doesn't seem to work at all...
Does anyone have a suggestion for an app that will do this?
There isn't a good way to do this right now. Hopefully Skype will add video chat like they did with the iPhone. But I wouldn't hold my breath that it will come anytime soon.
oovoo works. last version I tested had the tab users view of himself sideways but it did work.
note it also required latest version of oovoo on the pc

Yes oovoo is by far the best one out there to date but like you said the front facing camera orientation is 90 deg. off and unusable....

I have used Yahoo IM and i was able to use the front facing camera. Here is the only problem i have found. It will not work between a PC and the tab. I was able to use it to talk from the tab to an iphone w/ no problems.
You can use yahoo to video chat between the tab and any mobile device and between the tab and a windows pc.

He's right...you can't. You can see the PC person on the Tab but they can't see you. The video never initializes and the PC app reports that there is no video. Both ends can hear each other, though.
cant belive no one has said Fring, i use it to video call my gf and she has a iphone, quality is great.

That would be because Fring does not have a PC client as per the OPs request!

No he isn't right as I have done this and was able to see myself in both screens. Not sure why you don't believe me if I have to make a video to prove it I will. YM w/ video will work w/ the tab.
Oovoo works great...
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA App
tried oovoo for the first time tonight, it worked great except for one glaring issue.
The app defaults to the landscape orientation, this causes the image captured from the camera to be sideways.
If i rotate the tab to portrait, the image I send is correct, but the image i'm receiving is sideways.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yep, oovoo works but is rotated 90 degrees off. I'm sure it's something on their list of things to fix.
Regarding Yahoo messenger, it's not true that it does video with the tab... until now it still does not work. I've tried with some experimental beta versions and could make it partially work but far from being usable.

I have no problem. Working in portrait mode and everything is fine. Oovoo still the onliest app doing video chat tab pc. A shame that other apps are not further developed to suport this.
Hi,
due to the fact that I have't posted anything yet, I am not allowed to ask this question in the MI7 thread.
I have severe problems with my MI7 rom, after I tried to share a picture from the picture hub with Whatsapp, I had a blackscreen and couldn't share the image. Afterwards, all third party apps stopped working (including advanced config etc.).
Did anyone have the same problems/ how can I fix it (apart from re-flashing the ROM)?
I hope there is not thread about the topic but I checked and haven't found one.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you by any chance messed something with Advanced configuration or some other tool? Even using custom accents made with AC tool with custom background affects third party apps.

Yes I changed the accent colour. Thanks for the response. I went back to the stock rom as sending pics via the picture hub is an essential feature for me
Is it possible to use nexus 7 as a webcam online ? Websites don't seem to see the camera or mic ? Is there a hack or app that will fix this ?
I would love to see this!
Go to the Play Store and get IP Webcam. This will stream video for you.

I want to use tablet as a webcam not stream video , that app dose nothing like that . Thanks tho
Not sure what you really want
You asked for an app that will allow the use of the Nexus 7 as a webcam on the Internet. If you are not streaming video, how are you going to use it?
With the app mentioned, it makes the output of the front facing camera available for access on your LAN or via the Internet assuming you setup your router properly. And webcam reading software works fine with it.
The camera is poor for that type of use for two reasons. 1) it is facing forward not out the back, and 2) it is not a very high resolution camera. Unless you were placing this somewhere in a fixed position, it is very hard to control as it ends up with an upside down image and is hard to point.
You can see it using webcam capture programs like tinyCam monitor from another device. It doesn't provide audio output.
If that is not what you are asking for, you need to provide a better description.
Screen capture of the output of the app mentioned above from a windows box using Active Webcam attached.

You need a chat app on your device then... not a webcam app.
I don't use MSN anything so I am not familiar with it or what that service provides, but something like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=miyowa.android.microsoft.wlm
might be a start.

Trying to get Chat Roulette going, eh? Just kidding. I don't think websites will work and you probably need an app.

I've visited a website that uses HTML5 instead Flash or Silverlight for their video on my GNote, and it worked with the built-in cameras. I don't recall the name of the website, but it was a chatroulette-like tech demo for HTML5. Once people start switching away from Flash we'll start seeing this more. It's pretty rare at the moment.

So, no luck for chatroullet users on nexus 7 ? That's a downer ...
If anyone come up with a solution for the chatroullet fans, I would apreciate the reply.
Thanks

Theres another app called droidcam wireless webcam. You download a desktop program to go along with the app. It works through wifi or usb, I used it through usb about a year and a half ago. From there, i ran it through manycam, which is a virtual webcam program, by selecting it as the video feed. At that point, it should work with any program and internet website...such as chatroullet . You should just select manycam as your default camera and it should work. I used it with skype though, so i cant verify if it works or not..but in theory it should.
Again, i keep saying should, because it might not work right away. It definitely took a bit of play with the settings (and lots of unplugging and replugging) before i got it to be functional. I'll be able to test it tomorrow night if you didnt get it up and runing, as i am currently on vacation.
cheers

EDIT: sorry, i misread this post. I cant help you with that one, but if you wanted to use it as an external computer webcam...see above .
Using IP Webcam, this is easy to do...
Download the latest Manycam program. In sources, select your ip webcam,( http://192.168.1.129:8080/videofeed )(example)
In your chat program select Manycam as the source.
That's going through windows, as far as using the nexus 7 by
Itself, its not possible.
Is anyone using one?

Peel doesn't work on my X720.
No IR app will work on Pro 3 because it IR is not implemented via Android native IR API but with their own code.
Alternatives
So, I have tested the massive array of options that I have previously used over the past years.../and as you are likely guessing, NONE WORKED.
Now, that said....ANY IDEAS on how to get devices added that theuir default app doesnt support? None of their codes work for my devices, and yet...every other android devices I have owned was able to do the job with apps like, SMART REMOTE (my personal favorite...not affiliated).
Luckily, I have harmony and a hub...so it isnt the end of the world, but I would LOVE to get this IR functioning in my home.
Any update for this with the stock (non root) ROM?
You can create a custom remote with the stock app, and it will learn the IR signals from your other remotes. I set up a DirecTV remote this way on my phone. It's not a quick process, the button selection is limited and the layout options are also a bit clunky and limited, but it at least gives you the option to add support for devices not included in the app by default.

My hint is to use the LineageOS 14.1 rom by Team Superluminal. Ir blaster full working with the AnyMote app (and other apps). The rom isn't rooted, then most no-root apps are working. Give it a a try, it's simple, near stock android N, it works!
