Hi, my phone wants be to upgrade the firmeware and i was wondering if it has any negative side effects for a phone that is rooted. I remember last time when i upgraded it since my phone was rooted it caused all sorts of problems and i am wondering if the same thing happens now.
If you want the upgrade unroot the phone......... but what firmware upgrade is it ?
Its the long awaited OTA 2.2 a tmo rep told me it was rolling out this week, but with no hard evidence I didnt post it.
(_ Don't PM me. just send an email. [email protected] _)
Ya, i got invited to upgrade, but i am worried when i do it will screw up my cellphone since its unrooted.
Just unroot then..
Dont worry,just do it

Hi, and thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
I have a desire hd phone, witch I love anyways I had it rooted a few months ago by a local phone shop, but I didn’t really see the benefit from it, in fact it caused problems so I performed a full factory reset within a few days, and thought that was the end of it.
Anyways my phone received the option to update to the 2.3 gingerbread on Monday, it downloads fine, and then when the install starts it freezes at about 20% of the way thorough.
I have contacted HTC several times about it, they say the phone will not update if it’s been rooted and I have to send it back to them to have it re-flashed, one person said it would cost £30, another said £200 so I would rather not send it to them. the last guy I spoke to was very helpful, he said it was possible for me to reflash the phone to its original ''shipped'' state, and if I joined a help forum I could possibly get some help, but he was unable to advise me on this., so here I am!!!
I received the phone new in January and it has had no updates until the one on Moday, and it was rooted using visionary a few months ago, I have performed several factory restores since then.
Current software is:
android version 2.2
baseband version 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_m
build number 1.37.771.3 CL290190
software number 1.37.771.3
im in the uk, and on the 3 network
Many thanks,
Jamie

Check your other thread my friend. I have answered your query in there.
Posting 2 threads to have one question answered... Can't you muster the patience to actually wait for an answer? Also, maybe use the search button, it helps. Really.
Come on. Just show a little initiative. You rooted the device, then it shouldn't be a problem to unroot.

so is being a couple of weeks since the MF3 OTA came out, I have a GS4 ATT, that keeps saying I’m up to date. (ACUAMDL).
don’t care much about being rooted I just want the update, I spoke with the ATT people about the MF3 and they just look at me like I was speaking Chinese. They said “ the most recent update is jelly bean” !?!? LOL
the Samsung people told me to do the update via KIES, and KIES keeps saying the same thing, “I’m up to date”
so where is the update ?! … why is so hard to get the updates? Where can I get the update?
Can someone shed some light on this matter please
coming from an iphone i guess there are many things i dont understand about android
OS
Alrighty then, I've been gone a good while, and now no longer know what I'm doing, which I know is dangerous.
I'd picked up an S4 for myself and my mother last Black Friday, and that same night, rooted both our phones. I also know that within a good week, an OTA update had been put out, but I'd blown it off, as I couldn't get it going and finishing up my bach and getting into grad school took over my life. That said, I recently got my father's line upgraded to an S4 (it was a dollar and he wanted it, so eh). It forced me to remember my own phone and it's horribly outdated self, and so I have returned.
As it stands now, I do not know what or how to go about getting this puppy up to speed, or even how to really explain where I'm at software wise, so I took a couple snapshots of the phone info, hoping I could get a hand with it.
Any help you guys could give would be appreciated.
Also, not sure if this means anything, but the System update it says I have downloaded will not install.
You have android 4.3 and the latest version is 4.4.2.
Upgrade to 4.4.2 for your phone and then you can flash the latest custom roms for android version 4.4.2 if you are out of warranty and do not wish to use knox.
Youre not outdated. Just a version behind. There are not many changes in 4.4.2 stock rom.
Thank me if I helped

My wife and I ported over to Verizon last week because AT&T coverage has not improved where we live for the last few years. We both got "G900Vs" from a local reseller. My phone came with OC4 installed and my wife's phone came with NI2 installed. I haven't heeded the persistent nag to update my phone from OC4 OTA to presumably OE1 for fears of not being able to go back to to a previous version to root without tripping the Knox flag. OK I'll wait 'til I'm ready to root OC4. I decided to take the plunge with my wife's phone nag a few days ago and to my surprise it only updated to NK7. Figured I bought some time there. After that update on my wife's phone the nag returned with a invite to upgrade to 5.0 (lollipop). When I hit the "Learn more online" link it said the update would be to OC4 so I opted for it tonight. Well after going through the update to what I thought would be OC4 on my wife's phone it's still showing NK7 for the Build number and the nag is back, however, as is the same on my phone, tapping "Learn more online" no longer shows what the next update will be but only links to PDFs with generic info. Is there something nefarious going on? Is Verizon trying to trap us into OE1? Can we ever get root if we heed the nag and hit "Install now"?
The AT&T forum has been of no help to me. My wife has the regular S7 and she got her update over a week ago. My Edge is still saying its up to date on 6.0.1. Ive included my phone information below. It seems some people had issues updating because of one thing or another not updating properly from a previous update. Versions not matching and such.
Someone on the AT&T forum said that AT&T is rolling out the updates in batches of IMEI numbers. I just wanna figure out if they haven't issued the update for my IMEI yet, or if im not getting the update because of something wrong with my current version. This phone is stock. I haven't rooted or flashed anything on it yet..
I haven't got the update yet either. It's kinda making me mad. I did try to root my phone and was unsuccessful. So I factory reset my phone and still no update.
