Okay I've already flashed my phone via the update.zip to go from 2.1 to 2.2 EB13 file and I'm getting terrible 3G data speeds.. I've already performed a wipe on the phone and still same issue. Can I use the installer on the Samsung website to Reflash my phone to 2.2 to see if this fix's the issue?

Alright thanks a lot. I'll update this post to see if this resolves the issue.
Okay I Odin's EB13 I'm getting about 150 KBPS download.. I switched back to DI18 and I get 700+ KBPS dl for 3G... yeah I'm gonna stick to 2.1 for now.
I was great for a few days after using Odin to flash eb13, but now I just had my 2nd random reboot while using the phone, and most of the time after exiting an app like angry birds it takes a minute or so to populate the desktop screens. I am going to try a wipe and re-flash also.
What's the best way to wipe the phone? I don't want to wipe the sd card because my titanium backup files are saved to it.
forget the ota. Delete that junk. Use samsungs 200mb tool.

I'm serious. It's slow everything force closes and I figured now that cyanogen had his new build of Froyo....I could give the kang o rama a try. but everything is still force closing and I have no idea how to fix it and I'm about ready to just give up :/
What do I do?
Are you completely wiping everything before you install a rom?
Give yourself a wipe, or at least a cache partition wipe
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
if its slow then something is using a large amount of cpu power.
I just caught Flickie doing it (thanks to CPUStatusLED)....but it stopped before i got to uninstalling it.
Backup your apps, wipe everything data, ext, cache..then install a ROM.
My phone was freezing/rebooting 3-10 times a day before I did the above and now its quite stable.
EVERYTHING has been wiped. Dalvik, cache, Factory reset, everything I could do without doing anything to the SD card.
I'm seriously at a loss for words.
Currently on kang o rama's 2.2 cyanogen build A2 btw is what I'm trying to work with. Though it has been no different for other roms. I Mean it's so unresponsive and always force closes everything
2.1 works ok ?
2.2 doesn't you say? after all wipes and a clean install of Cyanogen and other ROMs? How about stock Froyo FRF91?
It may be a hardware error if the stock one doesn't work. So even if you got an unlocked phone, Google/HTC should replace it because it's hardware. If you're installing it wrong SOMEhow.. then that's another story.
EDIT: NVM believe I found it
I just went through this.
Just download the PASSIMG.ZIP from the latest Eclair build and put it on the root of your SD card. Go into bootloader and it will automatically pick it up.
In a minute you'll be at stock Eclair. By the time you can get into the Settings menu, you'll have the majority of FRF91 downloaded. Let it do its thing and probably within 5 minutes you'll be sitting pretty on a stock FRF91 Froyo build.

If you've used the Froyo App2SD function, then you might need to delete your .AndroidSecure folder on your SD card after a flash.
I never touched that folder and the last few times I flashed a ROM I was getting weird problems where I couldn't install things, it would hang, I would get FCs, etc. I deleted that folder, rebooted, and everything was cleared up for me.
...Of course you'll have to install those apps again.

Yea thats a good idea. The short time I've been on Android, it seems like A LOT of CRAP gets brought into new builds. Everytime I flash a new rom, the Market downloads all the crap from before. lol.
While I can see it as being a nice feature, it can get troublesome. When my replacement Nexus comes tomorrow, I'm going to backup my APK files and format my SD card. Start completely from scratch on Froyo 2.2
Usually I have NO problem hunting for things myself...but I DO NOT AT ALL...see this "Passimg" in that thread.
ANYWAYS I'm gonna try reflashing the radio to see if that helps
This is why I just use stock stuff, I want my phone to just work

Anyways good news...I've gone more then a few minutes without it crashing. . I think the radio think might actually have worked.
Wait market crashed. I'm hoping it's just a thing and I'm gonna reboot and try again.
Nope just more Force Closes
Tell me about this passimg.

And you're sure your N1 isn't defective?
Other then the occasional data connection failure...yea Eclair worked perfectly.
And sriously...guys I need the effing stock rom image I wanna try something else BUT I don't have it.
Oh yea. AND NOW I'm trying to reinstall the apps but it says out of space...and I can clearly see I have 111 mbs of internal storage. I think it's installing it on the SD card. IDK HOW TO MAKE IT STOP and I'm so frustrated I'm about ready to dump my n1. I've been screwing with this forever and I was excited. The first build of Cyanogen and nothing works...

Wipe, install rom, reboot and hold volume down to load the bootloader, power off in bootloade, pull battery, remove microsd, replace battery, boot and set it up. See what happens.

I'm betting it has something to do with data saved on the sd. . .
I just got a text from sprint to update my PRL. I HAVE a rooted phone with cyanogenmod 6 on it. Should I update?
I just got the same text, running CM6 also. First time in a year now that I have ever seen a text about a PRL update. Not going to run out and restore a sense nandroid just to check to see whats up though.
This has me confused as well. In all my years as a sprint customer I have never received a text about an update.
Sent from my HTC Hero using the XDA App
Ive updated and for me a little better phone singal thats all i notice other than that its fine Im runnig CM6 Stable i used ninfinity stock rom to update then switched back hope this helps

Anyone know is this the 60671 PRL or what? I got the text too and so did my wife...
I'm new at this with android. I have ROM Manager and I have a backup when I was on stock. Can I use Rom Manager backup/restore function and restore to stock and then update? I haven't tried restoring yet, will this restore exactly how it was or will I loose me data?
Ur better off flashing ninfinity rom after u do a nandroid backup of ur current rom its almost like stock but with performance enhancements use that to update ur prl/pri then nand restore back to ur current rom that way u wont loose root good luck

I updated last night and now have 60671. Sounds like you're in luck and don't need to update. Color me jealous.
I was pretty sure I've seen at some point that you can just flash the new PRL to your phone... I could be wrong though
I nandroided back to an old 1.5 rooted backup, but the PRL update function kept failing with error 1012.
I just downloaded it from PPCGeeks, pushed it to my phone and then used ##PRL# to manually load it. Then wiped and loaded a backup of my current Froyo 2.2.1 installation.
I just backed up my current CM6 rom, restored the Fresh 2.3.3 rom I was running before that, got the prl update with no problem, restored the CM6 rom and now I have 60671 in my CM6. I didn't even know you could download the file on PC and push it over.
I messed up once I decided to stick with cm6, I deleted my fresh rom back up. Where could I get a back up of fresh, I dont want to install fresh and have to wipe Or can I wipe and restore my current back up of cm6 via PC and be OK?
Thanks
Pulling fresh rom back up off my wifes phone
Just make a nandroid of your current setup, wipe, then flash fresh. After you get done you can just restore your nandroid.

I know you have it resolved now, but if anyone else doesn't have an old nandroid... you can download the 60671.prl file from various places - either on the phone itself or via pc and use adb to push it. Then you can load an older rom that has the ##PRL# code working, and have it load the file that way. Then just nandroid back to your everyday rom.
i need some help. i cant download from the market after i went back to a 2.1 rom from a 2.2 beta rom. any ideas?
Is it stuck on downloading?
Usually when it is, I just leave it there-- then after a few minutes, it will tell you it's installing.
You can also try going to Settings > Applications > Market and clearing data and cache. Then open up market again and let it refresh.
i tried that already and it still hasnt changed. even did a factory reset twice

I SO don't know what I'm talking about. Ever. But especially here.
However having said that, perhaps you flashed the baseband to 2.2 with the modem file and Odin, and need to flash it back to a 2.1.
Anyone confirm/feel free to correct me and call me names....
Also I've had issues with the market upon restoring backups after trying out different ROMs. Sometimes I stop all the backed-up market downloads, then clear the cache, the reboot and try downloading apps again one or two at a time and that works. Recently I had an issue where the market thought I didn't have a program installed, but I did have it from a Titanium backup. Market kept trying to restore it. Then I uninstalled it from my Epic and reinstalled it from the market.

I had the same issue when I reverted back to 2.1. Are you doing a restore from a nandroid backup? I tried doing a straight nandroid restore, failed. I tried wiping and flashing a 2.1 rom and then doing a data restore, failed. Finally, I just gave up and forwent the data restore. I had to rebuild everything, but it worked.
I'm sure you can find a more elegant solution, but it's what worked for me.

Ibwas having the same problem. It was caused by restoring from a nandroid backup. I just reflashed and restored all my apps manually
Tapatalkin it from my Epic 4G
i fixed it by going back to the 2.2 beta rom i was using. i reverted back to 2.1 because gps wasnt working but now gps is working on 2.2 and i have market access. i would say close this thread but i sure somebody else will have this problem and need the help so leave it open
i've seen quite a few people say/recommend using odin to go back to stock before flashing a (new) rom. i see no merit to this since all the roms we have for the vibrant wipe and most of us are going to titanium backup (restore) apps and maybe a couple system options anyway.
so i'm curious if there is reasonable justification for this behavior or if some people are just being overly cautious/paranoid. in my experience, i've flashed my vibrant at least 15 times and have never used odin. and my phone works great.
It just gives the phone an absolute clean slate. Sometimes (so i heard/read), it might leave ghostings of the previous ROMs when flashing a brand new one.
I just flashed a ROM and it showed 0 bytes free for application storage. I used ODIN and then flashed again and it showed 1.9 gb free. So yes, using ODIN does reset something that a simple wipe does not do.

i flashed axura a couple hours ago, and after restoring my apps using titanium i have 1.44gb app storage and have never had a problem similar to that. what rom did you flash and what were you on before? did you try reflashing or flashing a different rom before using odin?
edit: just read your post in the dev thread regarding flashing and seeing 0bytes free in app space and it sounds like it's a known issue with that rom....

lol. maybe. i'm not worried about it if i do have to.
Is it recommended to wipe cache in recovery mode before applying the update, or are people having good or better results without that?
Also, to be on the safe side is it recommended to have:
-fully charged battery
-strong Sprint signal
-an active GPS lock
before restarting the phone? I recall people having big problems with EB13 if they didn't do some/all of these things.
So far though, reports seem to be mostly good even without the full .exe from Samsung (stupid of them).

Here is what I did. I odin to DI18. Boot once for good measure. Formatted the SD card, after I backed it up of course. Copied the update.zip file to my sdcard. Boot into recovery and performed the update.

Its always good practice to wipe before doing any update. Yes always flash with a full or vkosr to full battery. You never want to be in the middle of flashing and your phone dies. Could brick it.
