My hd2 is running TyphooN CyanogenMod 7. I attend the University of Arizona and can't connect to their network. What happens is it scans, connects, authenticates, then disconnects? I have spent the last 2 weeks looking for a solution such as editing my wpa_supplicant and either my wifi gets an error or it still does not connect.
Also, I went down to my university's tech center and they told me I SHOULD be able to if the EAP is PEAP and the phase 2 is MSCHAPV2 but everytime i change it, it goes back to "none".
I have even tried switching to other roms in hope that it will work and still no luck.
please help me!
i had the same problem. i believe most ROMS have had this issue until recently. There are a few kernels that have been released that i believe address this issue. I'm using HyperDroid and it has this fix. if you insists on sticking with the ROM you have then just find a kernel with the fix.

Using CA certificate and identity and password
any one else having the same problem?

but i also have to say we didn't use certificates to authenticate!!
but sofar i can say... no problems... if i got some problems next week i will report back!
btw: maybe this can help you:

thanks for the reply! I will try that software and report (though it says Froyo does not need it)
Thanks man! That works like a charm!
I really appreciate the help.

WiFi Fixer
Tried to use it together with CyanogenMod Thyphoon on a wpa2-enterprise PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2 but no cigar. WiFi fixer switches WiFi on and off and tries to do it's magic, but up untill now it will not budge.
I have a strange problem about Wi-Fi. I tried every single Android Build in this forum, and i'm still having it.
The problem is, my Wi-Fi network is works like a charm with Sense builds, every Sense build. Without exception. But with the stock builds, it's just stops connecting to the internet(still vague?). I tried everything; static IP's, tried to make my network open... Nothing changed. Is there any solution for this, or the problem is just my network???
btw, i can reach router's homepage (192.168.0.1), i just cant access to the internet.
I'm pretty sure you problem has been covered elsewhere (although I cant be certain..."It just stops working" is a bit vague)....
But, searching for "wifi" problems might not be very benneficial soo I will try to help instead of flaming you like i normally might
Which channel is your router using???
From what I recall some builds will not recognise the higher channels (11, 12 and 13 I think).
So if your router is on channel 11 or higher I would try a lower number
If thats not the problem then I dunno....its back to searching for you
yes, that was 11. so i tried 10,7,5,2... nothing changed. still i can reach to router's homepage but not internet. it doesn't make sense
guys, please help me. i'm still trying to solve it. i tried every single rom published today too. cyanogens, not cyanogens...
-i also upgrade my radio from 2.10 to 2.11.

Hey guys. It's been a while but I've ran into a problem with my mytouch today when I tried to turn wifi on for the first time in forever. It just wouldnt connect. It would say aquiring ip address from [network] and then flash to disconnected, then scanning, then acquiring ip address again.
I've tried flashing a different rom, doing a nand restore to my previous rom (which had wifi working), and trying my friend's wifi and none of those worked.
Wifi stopped working after flashing this rom.

I've had issues with WPA2 networks where my phone wouldn't connect at first.
Try removing the network and starting over.
Still a no go.
Could it be a bad kernel that you've been installing?
It may also be a hardware failure (worst case scenario)
Try changing your network security type, or removing it completely.
I forgot to mention that I changed the kernal too. Still not working. I don't think (or I hope) it's not hardware failure. It's still picking up wifi signals and detecting networks. It just doesn't actually connect.
EDIT:
Wow I feel like the biggest noob now. After changing every possible thing I could think of on my phone, I restarted my router and my phone connected right after. That was really strange considering every other wireless device in the house had no trouble connecting but oh well. It works. Can't complain now. Thanks for the help guys
Same with MT3G. Can not connect any wifi now (Just 1 time after Flashing 2.2 ROM).
Don't know how to fix.
Changed 2 Froyo ROM already
same issue
Same problem here after flashing a Hero ROM like 5 months ago. Can't connect to WiFi, but I can still search and attempt to connect to a wifi network, but won't actually connect. I can still WiFi tether, which leads me to believe it's not a hardware issue...
Hi all,
The network that I use is WPA enterprise 802.11 EAP. When 2.3 came out I immediately tried several builds, but none of the them worked with my wifi network.
In fact, several 2.2 builds don't work either, but after I replaced the wpa supplicant of the build with the desire build's, it started working.
Recently I tried pongster's HyperdroidGBX and that worked perfectly, with any need for modification. However, after a few days it stopped working entirely. I have attempted to modify with wpa supplicants and have even replaced the default kernel with one that worked in 2.2, but to no avail.
I am wondering if this is due to some certificate issue that is embedded in the build. my network may use a certificate so it is conceivable that it has expired, and this build is unable to requistion a new certificate.
I'd greatly appreciate it if someone with experience could help me out.
Thanks in advance!
I am having the same problem. It seems EAP is more complicated and not all developers have an access to it.
I a having major problem with wpa wifi networks too. I can connect to the network fine, but after a few seconds or at most minutes, I seem to get disconnected. Pinging any host from a shell gives me "no route to host" errors, but the system indicates that wifi is still connected. To date I have not managed to get a stable connection with any router set to wpa, no matter what settings/encryption scheme I set on the router. Note that wep and open networks work fine though, so I would imagine that it's not a hardware problem (right?).
Have you managed to solve this problem by any chance? Could you direct me to the alternative wpa_supplicant you used so I can try it out as I'm at my wits' end with this problem?
I cannot understand how there aren't more people having this problem!
Hello everybody!
I'm sorry, that I post here, but as I'm pretty new, I'm not allowed to write anything in the developers forum. I successfully enabled wifi in android and the phone finds my wlan network. When I enter the wlan-key the phone first connects and also establishes the connection. Unfortunately after it has connected it tells me, that it's out of range an tries to reconnect. Thus I never have a stable network, although the signal strength is at maximum. Has anybody also encountered this problem? Any hints? Router is Fritz!Box 7113 and wlan is wpa2 secured.
Already thanks for your replies!
get a better router(Linksys)..this has NOTHING to do with Android WiFi!
I know that my router is not the best, but I have several devices which have access to the router (two notebooks, one pc, xbox 360, windows mobile on HD Mini) and there the connection has always been stable and reliable. I NEVER had any disconnects now in the last three years. Therefore I'd suggest it's a software problem. Also somebody else has posted in the developers thread for wifi on android, that he has the same problem.
Okay now, I solved the problem preliminary.
First I used Android 2.2, where the problem occured. Now I switched back to 2.1 and patched the files in order to enable wlan. In 2.1 I can establish a stable connection to my router. Strange! Maybe someone could also mention that in the developers thread to help people who also had that problem.
