Atrix overated - Atrix 4G General

Ive had the Atrix now for a few days and honestly its overrated. Its stutters alot when i have the live wallpaper on.
Even games ....they look better... like samurai and backbreaker but they still stutter like on other android phones.
Tegra 2 as of Now is nothing special. I thought the OS would be faster but its not. Blur stinks
The reviews said this was a FASSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTT phone. Ummm compared to what? My friends iphone seems faster, smoother and honestly better..
I think im getting rid of it , at best ill hold onto it till iphone 5 comes out. nyone else diapointed or expected more?

just get the iphone...

yeah i think your right. i had the INSPIRE and that seemed faster. I gotta sweat it out i guess and hope it gets better or wait till iphone 5 now.

You must be on drugs if you think the iphone 4 is faster than the Atrix. I have an Aria, iphone 3gs and I had a Craptivate for a while. My wife has an Evo that I use for side by side comparison along with the 3gs. The Atrix is faster than all of them even when the Evo is overclocked. It's not even close epecially rendering web pages and scrolling through photos is buttery smooth. The Atrix plays flash videos that look like a slideshow with the Evo and Craptivate. You can't even watch those videos with an iphone 4. The Atrix also has better battery life than the other phones I've mentioned. I went 42 hours after the first full charge.

Inspire is NOT faster than the atrix! I had both and used them to compare many things. Inspired is fast but the atrix shines on somewhat more intense apps/games. As far as the iPhone 4, it is fast. But I'm bored with the OS! One hardware button is old and dumb. Iphone 5 will be nice but if they keep that small screen I will never go back.
The isnpire would have been a keeper if it wasn't for the low volume on EVERYTHING. That at the poor battery life it had to go back. I do miss it though!

i would think the atrix specs should really kick as5 but looks as tho its getting mixed reviews.
i wouldnt say the atrix is over rated, i think its expectations might of.
what do i know as i dont own one or have had the opportinity to try one but the atrix is one of top phones i was considering get if i decide to get a new phone..

The problem with the Atrix vs Inspire is that you're comparing a phone with GPU acceleration (thank you HTC) to a phone without it (no thanks to you Moto).
Atrix will be awesome around November 2011, when it finally gets Ice Cream.

Yeah I guess. I have 4 months to wait and see and HOPE it gets better.

i totally dont agree. I have had the Atrix, Inspire, Captivate, (HD2 etc)
this is by far the slickest, fastest and best devive I have ever had. No stutter, good screen, great video and camera, great battery life, fantastic sound quality. Totally a keeper for me (FINALLY!)
Inspire was a dissapointment for me. felt like my HD2 on steroids.
Oh and I still think WM6.5 with sense was the best UI. But thats just me.

I think people were expecting this phone to **** rainbows and if it doesn't then it's a piece of ****.

I just ordered mine.... you are telling me it doesn't **** rainbows? damn....

It does in fact **** rainbows

YUP! It was supposed to **** RAOnbows.
I had an iPhone 4, and I liked it. However, I love the android experience. That being said when ATT decided to step up their android game, I was eager. I got the inspire on launch because I am impatient. For a little I thought I would keep it, because generally it was an all around great phone. What it came down to (in the short run) is the battery life. I wanted a high tech phone I could play with and enjoy. The Atrix is just that. I don't have any issues you retarts are complaining of. the display is nice, the battery is huge, the phone is fast, (motoblur does kind of stink, but ADW launcher is really nice/is the default for the cyanogen mods so thats cool)... overall, rules. NOW STOP MAKING STUPID THREADS LIKE THIS! THERE ARE 1000049045842398 REVIEW THREADS/OPINIONS...PLEASE MERGE YOUR THOUGHTS TO SOMEONE ELSES!!!!

Great phone! (coming from 3GS and captivate)

I agree with everything you said, and more.

Inspire is just a gimped Evo And the Craptivate is the worst phone I've ever owned. Only an idiot would by those phones in 2011. There's alot of jealous Inspire and Craptivate owners raggin on the Atrix in an attempt to make themselves feel better and their reasoning is ridiculous.

Captivate is great after installing certain roms which I have done. I had the inspire for a week and couldn't justify spending the full retail price for a larger screen and the ability to run aosp cm7. Yes the build quality far exceeds my captivate, but it didn't offer enough to warrant me keeping it. I have zero hate for the atrix its still just a phone after all. I actually am considering buying it and if I don't see enough reasons to keep it, then ill simply return it. There are some serious devices slated for this year and we will see some incredible tech and just like any other phone it too will be outdated very quickly.

I love the phone and I think the network is the issue here ...

Nice screen size....... that's all I can say though everything else is standard. My nexus on Froyo is a lot smoother and quicker than that.

This is true.
used evo today, it was definitely laggy compared to my nexus. but the evo was solid as hell and i liked the form factor a whole lot. its almost like the perfect tablet/phone size. love the smooth slate back too.

Evo was nice but compared to holding a N1 its not close. Same for the Incredible(honestly i didnt like it at all,too plasticy). Nothing has the feel in hand the nexus does from my experience. At the same time if ya handed me either phone and said "Here it yours". I d take it in a second. All three phones ive stated run nice. Would be very happy either way. But i do like my nexus above all.

Both devices have their advantages and disadvantages, but infighting like this just makes us look bad. Grow up guys
I'd like to see a 2.1 Nexus vs a 2.1 EVO and then a 2.2 Nexus vs a 2.2 EVO (we will have to wait though).

Agreed.
The more people using Androids (and less FRUITS), the better. ANY win for Android is a win for ALL of us.
That being said, I did get a chance to check out the EVO yesterday at a Sprint store. After the short line wait (lol), I got my hands on it and compared. Here's what I found:
Pros:
Despite the size, my N1 feels heavier. What the heck? I am using a full-body skin, but it can't make THAT much of a difference.
The Evo isn't THAT much larger when one is placed over the other. In fact, it made me realize just how much bezel is at the bottom of the N1 (where the trackball is). On the Evo, that space is much reduced. There should be few problems fitting the Evo into pockets etc, as the size is not too much larger.
The screen size is definitely just amazing. Browsing webpages is much more enjoyable.
3G Speed: Loading up webpages was always faster on the Evo than my N1. I quickly downloaded Ookla Speedtest on both phones and got an average of 2000/650 on the Evo and 400/1350 on the N1 (both on 3G, don't think there's 4G here). Of course, they could have had a 3G repeater in the Sprint store. And it's funny how T-Mobile's uploads were exactly twice as high, and I got 1350 every single time. I think they're both upload-capped.
The soft buttons under the screen are much easier to hit. From the second I picked up the phone, I hit them 100% of the time without any problems. I'm not sure what the heck HTC did with the N1, and why the labels don't match the touch points.
Cons:
I can definitely tell the color difference between the two. I loaded up Engadget and looked at one of the pictures on the front page on both phones. It was night and day. The N1 was colorful and vibrant and the Evo seemed washed out. Any N1 user will instantly tell how much of a difference the AMOLED screen makes.
The N1 certainly takes the cake in terms of style. The Evo looks plain, almost ugly. The N1 feels more solid as well. But that may be due to the weight as I said previously.
Flash/FroYo. Of course, we have it, they don't. The person next to me testing the other Evo was asking the employee if it had Flash. I didn't get the chance to butt into their conversation but I was this close to showing off my N1... I know the Evo has root already, but development will always be better on the N1 since it's Google's baby.
The Evo definitely felt laggy and scrolling homescreens was not smooth. (Chalk it up to FroYo of course.)
Anyway, I don't see how that video is the N1 "****ting" on the Evo? The comparison was like 1/10th of the video, and the speed was only marginally faster.
Anyone else try out the Evo yesterday / today?
In any case, the bottom line here is that there is no competition between our phones. This is only bad for Apple, who is probably shaking in their boots
Yeah I went to the sprint store yesterday to play with it and I had my at&t nexus one in hand to compare. The build quality on my n1 definitely was better than the evo which had way too much plastic. I mean it was still okay but just a lot of plastic. Also there is something to be said with having an 800x 400 with amoled resolution as compared to just a bigger screen with the same resolution. While I could see more of the webpage when browsing on the evo the pages still looked sharper on my n1. With that beING said I would buy the evoif I was a sprint customer but seeing how long it took Sprint to go from the pre to the evo I just can't foresee them getting another flagship phone for awhile... while at&t is slowly but surely about to release a lot of new android phones from dell, HTC, and Samsung
Sent from my Nexus One
Didn't have the patience to watch the whole video so I fast forwarded to the end. I am amazed at how much brighter and clearer the nexus 1 screen is compared to the evo. That video would make me want to buy the N1 more.

Damn you Steve Jobs...

I am starting to be torn about my Evo and the upcoming Iphone. I have rode with Android from the beginning. Even jumping carriers so that I could get the Evo. I am reading the Live Blog from the Apple conference and I am slightly jealous...
I despise Stevie, but I must admit that he always comes up with some extra slickness that you need in your life.
The only thing that seems like a significant improvement is the display other than that the iPhone isn't conjuring up alot of envy for me right now.
I agree...I'll stick with Android!
He can't touch the Evo IMO
I don't care how cool the new iPhone is, AT&T still blows.
I was kinda interested in the new imovie. Records in full HD w/ flash on. You can create edit with transitions right from the phone. Even add any music that you have on the device as a soundtrack.

I'm not. All the cool stuff about the EVO that I loved last night haven't suddenly disappeared this morning. So far, nothing really revolutionary about "iOS4." Plus, considering the downside (closed ecosystem, AT&T only, etc.), I still like the EVO better.

You still have time.. 30 days return policy if you want to get the new iPhone 4
The only major improvement I'm seeing so far is the screen, and that's a lot less impressive than expected when it's still on a 3.5 inch screen.
The gyroscope is also sort of neat, I guess, but it's no reason to change phones.
The camera also looks rather impressive, but I can't help but wonder whether it's compressed at all. After all, Jobs mentioned that nothing has been done to the recorded video after the user is done filming. From what I've seen, HTC compreses the hell out of their video files, something that might be changeable by software.

That's a biggie for me too. I have the Ipad and Ipod Touch, both hacked precisely because I need my freedom.
I think they made some nice changes, but not enough for me to switch back from the Evo/Android to iPhone. I'm gone from the Fanboi ranks.
While I must admit, the fluidity of the iOS is nice, refined, etc etc...Millions of apps (1/512th of which you'd actually use daily) and accessories out the whazoo...android/Evo is still nice.
Let's be realistic, iMovie?...on a 3.5 inch screen? Or the resolution...on a 3.5 inch screen?...it's pointless. It's a tiny screen, I mean even a 4.3 inch screen with those specs would be mildly thrilling.
Gyro?....Meh...not a gamer so I don't care...
It's a nice phone, but I like my Evo more. The only thing I hate about the Evo is that I got spoiled with a huge screen, I hated it at first and felt that I made a mistake in buying it because it's bigger...but now I look at my Hero and think..."How the hell will I ever go back to a small screen like that!?"
If he surprised me with a 3.8 or 4.0 or even 4.3 screen with that resolution I would have to consider it heavily and in fact would have upgraded my 3GS for it. But at 3.5 inch screen I don't care that he packs in that kind of resolution. My EVO is not my movie studio or camera. They were put in place for moments you are in a pinch.
You can have flash on full time as well while recording video. It's call Torch on and Video On
The iOS4 is nothing much. Battery life will remain to be seen. The can claim better battery life because he upgraded the processor (efficient) and kept the screen size smaller. A good move for battery life but not a good move for people who would like a larger screen.
WP7 will require at least a 3.8" screen to start. So it will be interesting to see what happens next with them.
evo vs. iphone, I'll take evo.
Sorry iPhone, for all your sexiness you're missing too much.
1) AT&T is trash, heard nothing but complaints
2) replaceable batteries + Micro SD cards? yes please.
3) completely closed architecture vs. complete openness? I'll take android.
4) I have an iPod Touch so I already can do everything except make phone calls, thats what my Evo is for
iphone4 video chat only on wifi! Not on 3G or 4G like EVO. AT&T sucks!
And only from iphone4 to iphone4. Can you say "locked in"?
Not regretting my EVO purchase one bit!
I can Qik or Fring/Skype video call on 3G or 4G or WiFi
the new iphone isnt bad
if we all think about this....our phones and the new iphone are kind of tapped out. There isnt much more to be done with phones anymore.
Sorry guys and girls, I had a moment of weakness, lol. I love Android too. In fact this is my 4th Android phone. You gotta admit random "Forcecloses" is starting to get a lil old though.

please give up the EVO if your even remotely thinking about the ICRAP
I've had all three iphones since their respective launch days over the years. I've recently switched to the Evo and loving it. Even with their new hardware, I still think the evo is superior. The android OS is a little quirky, and I especially think scrolling is way worse on the evo and the android market is a joke so far, but I really like the OS overall compared to Apple's locked down OS.
I'm not switching back!

seriously? I have had every iphone and also android since g1. I really do like the iphone but I hate att. I was just watching the same feed of the release about ios4 and there is nothing new. Yes, I do like the way you can video chat with ease but only on wifi and only with other iphone 4's?
I think there is a place for the iphone but this announcement was more of a "keep up with the jones" than anything earth shattering.
Im keeping my evo.
Im paying less with sprint by almost 50% than with att...
I hate Apple
Yep, I'm a hater. I only own 1 apple device...an IPod Nano, and the only reason I have that is I needed the close stereo integration on my boat (long story).
Having said that, if this IPhone was available on Verizon or Sprint or even TMobile...I would probably consider it.
Although the screen is smaller than the Evo the IPS technology looks slick not to mention a 960x640 resolution.
I also like the gyro. That has a lot of potential...granted it's also a little gimmicky, but I'm a geek and I like new toys.
I think the Evo could have better picture quality with an 8mp camera vs 5mp for Apple, but Apple does a great job with the actual image quality.
It also sounds like Apple finally implemented multi-tasking without killing the battery life. I don't completely believe it until I see it in person...but it looked promising.
I also like the free video calls from Iphone4 to Iphone4.
Having said all that, I still hate Apple. I will stick with my 3rd generation Nano and my Hero & Evo. It's just too bad someone can't put Apple in their place. The IPad could have been placed on the backburner with a HP Slate, and Android has a lot of cool phones, but none I would consider a complete IPhone killer.
Its so frustrating because I believe Android has the ability to put Apple in it's place, but when it comes to an actual full released product...it's just not quite there yet.

Evo switchers are you satisfied?

I just want to know if you are happy about giving up your Evo and getting the Epic or if you regret the switch? Also please tell of any other experiences you've had with it so far
Yes. I still miss Sense sometimes but I calmed that itch with launcherpro full and fancy widget. It doesn't give you the full sense experience with core apps modified but its good enough for me. Hardware is amazing compared to the evo
Better screen
Better camera
Better hd video recording
Cpu/gpu amazing!!!!
I thought I was not gonna like the keyboard but it was so useful for my university classes (I even coded some c++ homework assignments on the epic and ran it on my schools computer)
Gps is still a downer... it works but unreliable
Overall, I don't regret the switch
Yes, but I miss the 4G speeds I had on my EVO and HDMI. Had more resources with HTC dev team too.
I was one of the people that got the HTC EVO 4G on the day it was released... man was that a big mistake. Honestly, it was one of the worst phones I've ever used. I hated the build quality, it was super flaky. I actually went through 2 EVOs within my first two weeks or so because the USB port stopped charging.
Of course, yeah at first when I got the EVO I thought it was cool and all but the coolness wore off pretty quickly when I started to see all the many flaws it had, to name a few, the FPS cap (FINALLY fixed), build quality, very laggy with HTC Sense UI, things like that. I eventually took the phone back because I actually paid full price so that I wouldn't use up my upgrade and it definitely wasn't worth wasting my money on. After having an EVO, I really started to look down on HTC. They used to be the only brand of Android phone I would ever get, but now I won't touch them ever again. I went back to my HTC Hero and after that went semi-bad I traded it in for a Samsung Moment just to not deal with HTC anymore.
Once I heard about the Epic 4G I was stoked, I thought this phone is gonna beat the **** outta the EVO... I was right, I am so glad I switched! The only thing I wasn't looking forward to with the Epic was having a built in keyboard and I rarely ever use it, ever, but I guess its still nice to have on occasion. Don't believe when people say, "If you want a hardware keyboard, get the Epic, if you don't get the EVO...", I didn't want a hardware keyboard but I still got the Epic just because the hardware overall is much much better!
Anyways, sorry for the long post but yeah, I switched from the EVO and I will never look back.
Still have the EVO but it sits on the shelf now. I haven't looked back either. Screen is so much bigger on the EVo, but camera and video capture is so bad on the EVo The keyboard is nice though I don't use it at times. Epic very satisfied
I just made the switch and don't regret it one bit. When this phone gets froyo it is going to smoke the evo. With baked rom this phone is amazing compared to evo.
I have not used my keyboard once yet but it will be nice with snesoid and etc.
Overall very happy with my switch.

Yes. Epic currently has an upload speed capped at 150 kbps. I have an evo and an epic right here and I just did a speed test on both.
Evo: 1570/646
Epic: 1404/116
Other than that, I generally prefer the epic. Less laggy, even after the evo's 30 fps cap fix. Better gpu. Screen is slightly smaller but less washed out. I don't even use the keyboard for typing usually but it's great for games. The only other things better about the evo are community and vendor support. And the kickstand of course.

I'm more than satisfied with the Epic. I had the Evo for 29 days, so I got a good impression of the device and its faults.
The smooth responsiveness of the Epic is great compared to the Evo, which was laggy at often choppy (using menus, scrolling apps list etc). The Evo had touch response lag also, the Epic does not.
The screen on the Epic is also a nice improvement over the Evo. Being .3" smaller is worth the brilliant colors and black blacks of Super AMOLED goodness.
Gaming on the Epic is also far better than the Evo, everything just runs smoothly, and it's responsive. The Evo always felt like it was struggling in 3D games, and the touch input lag made some games un-enjoyable.
Having the keyboard is not a major deal for me, but it's nice that it's there for certain situations. I use Swype most of the time.
Battery life is better also.
The Epic has its faults too, but to me, they are less egregious than the Evos.

try a different kernel.
My Epic easily lasts me all day long.... but for those times when I'm doing heavy duty movie watching or game playing, I keep a spare battery handy. Small and easy to carry around.
It definitely lasts longer than the EVO's did, even with a different kernel.
So far I'm much happier with the Epic than I was with the EVO....... but I'm a speed freak and the EVO's processor was just too outdated for me.

Why are questioning what he said about battery life? Are disappointed that he said the battery life is better? You seem to really not like the EPIC. So take it back. Why do you keep the phone? Are you here just trolling to be negative or are you here to contribute to the community?
I got the evo on release day. It was my first smart phone. I thought it was bad ass. I dropped it in the toilet and then my problems started. I called sprint to issue an insurance claim. I told them I lost it. They told me I didn't have insurance on the phone. After fighting with them for a a week about it they told me they if I signed I new 2 year contract I cab get another evo as I upgraded again. They also credited my account 150. I couldn't find another evo any where. Then I found out bout the epic. I haven't looked back yet.

I got my evo on 6/12, just picked up my epic 9/25. It was long enough for me to realize that while the evo is quite baller, especilly coming from the G1, it was undercooked.
We all know the problems it had/has. The one that gets me the most though is having all that power and still having to cap the framerate. That, and the insane compression of mms images, but that's a sense issue.
So far I'm REAL ****ing happy with it. I really missed a good hw keyboard. The screen and camera are mighty impressive and touchwhiz isn't nearly as offensive/intrusive as sense (its more like a theme imo) when you get adw on it.
This thing is going to set the standard once it receives 2.2.

Why are questioning what he said about battery life? Are disappointed that he said the battery life is better? You seem to really not like the EPIC. So take it back. Why do you keep the phone? Are you here just trolling to be negative or are you here to contribute to the community?

listen bryan, I'm asking him because I am playing with the IDEA of trading the epic for the evo. however if the EVO is WORSE on battery in stock form then I guess I should just go jump of the Brooklyn bridge

I know I can't wait, have you held one before, how it the size in the hand in comparison with the evo..
The Evo is nice and all but it's just a little too big for my pocket
Yes I've played with one at bestbuy honestly its about the same size but the evos width is what makes it feel so bulky however the curve look and lengthier look make it extremely sexy . My gf even likes it. The screen and speed are absolutely fantastic
Man, now you got me going.. How can you turn down that $69.99 everything plan from Sprint..
Not to mention stock Gingerbread, beautiful
I switched from the Evo to the NS a couple months ago. The only thing I miss about the Evo is the kickstand.
Performance-wise...there's no contest. The NS just destroys the Evo in every way I can think to compare the two (gaming, everyday use, benchmarks). I mean it's not even close. Coming from the iPhone 3GS (before my Evo), this was always a major complaint about the Evo.
The lcd screen on the Evo is a bit crisper than the amoled in terms of pixel density - this really makes itself apparent on fonts - but the color and contrast ratio on the NS are so superior that it makes this a non-issue imho. I hate looking at my Evo's screen - so washed out and yucky.
Complaints about the NS are: no HDMI out and the sound output (even with voodoo) isn't up to par with the wife's iPhone 4. It's also a bit slippery, but ghost armor solves that issue pretty well. Also no HD video (as far as we know at this point).
@abn.geek: thanks for all the great info man.. I know like everyone else the dual core phones are starting to come out of the woodword, but I'm honestly not all that siked about them and doesn't really phase me.. I think because the majority of them are over 4" and that's just too big for me..
I'm excited to see the Nex in action and I feel like the raw gingerbread stylings with no crazy overlay will be a perfect place to start modding..
I left the evo bone stock so i'm excited to get a little experience under my belt

Yeah there are only a couple games I can think of at the moment where the 2-core phones would make a big difference. Not that I don't think those phones are cool, I just don't see a need right now. Maybe by the end of summer things will be different though, who knows .
good call, I'm just wondering if Sprint is going to spit anything else out.. I heard rumors of the Xoom and Atrix, I wonder if those are going to come to fruition..
Exactly my point for waiting on the dual cores I am excited but their really isn't much of a difference in performance yet, I'm sure the nexus 3 will come with quad or dual core. But I'm honestly satisfied with the speed of the hummingbird especially with stock gingerbread
right on, is there anything not to love.. I mean from what the evo lacks in screen clarity and performance i'm sure the Nexus blows it out of the water..
I can't wait to get my hands on one...

Because its not 69.99....its 79.99 with any data plan so they're lying jerks. I had the evo and I loved it but I wouldn't go back if someone paid me. The nexus s is miles better.

I had the Evo from launch till about 4 months. Don't get me wrong it is a great phone but doesn't have the raw power and beauty that the Nexus S has.

I also had the Evo at launch, and changed to the nexus-s a couple months ago. No regrets, the NS is a more satisfying phone for me.

I did, and never regret it for a second. I liked the EVO, but after awhile it feels like a brick in your pocket, just too heavy and thick. Plus battery life blows, even with a great netarchy and Myn's ROM, still ****ty battery life.
The feather weight of the Nexus-S is great, and fits in your hand perfectly. And the battery life is excellent.

Someone convince me to keep the Atrix VS the LG THRILL

Have Thrill and Atrix in hand
I already posted in the LG thread
What I love about the Atrix
NOTIFICATION LED [thank you motorola]
Weight and size is much better [Thrill with a case is huge]
Storage is insane..the 16gb on board plus my 8gb
almost 2000 mah battery built in
What I love about the Thrill
Huge very colorful screen
3D is legit and looks better than 3ds and Evo 3d
HDMI mirroring works in landscape out the box
Covered HDMI/usb ports
What I hate about the Atrix
NO mirrored HDMI landscape mode
Message limit 999/1000 in SMS/MMS mode
What I hate about the Thrill
Horrible battery life
Phone is thick before I even case it
NO NOTIFICATION LIGHT!!!!!!
So..I'm torn apart
The things I hate about the Atrix are all software and might just change through dev or official Ice Cream Sandwich
the things I hate about the Thrill are all hardware and won't ever change
I have roots in both companies..my first android was the cliq xt [loved it..loved it again for a little bit with cm7] my second darling was the defy [and I wish they made a defy 2 with atrix specs] but my last android phone was the G2X which I loved loved loved [blazing fast, totally classy]
the Thrill has roots in the G2X but the G2X was a sexy phone and the Thrill..not really..the Atrix shares a lot of software with the defy...but is pretty much a G2X in terms of hardware [dual core tegra 2, ddr 2 ram, etc]
This is the hardest decision ever..really. I can't make up my mind. Part of me wants to go with the thrill because it's a week or two old..and I can't help but think the Atrix is already almost seven months old...but
the atrix seems to be the undisputed champ in this battle...i guess I just want any more in sight from people here who have an atrix and have tried out thrill..optimus 3d..g2x..evo..evo 3d..etc
Atrix has superior name = keep.
No matter how you decide, next week another phone will be released and you will be going through this again.

I used a blackberry flipphone for a year and s half I did my research and picked ATRIX, I could have went with the iphone 4 but I didn't. It really comes to personal preference. Some might like more gadgets on the phone others might like the hardware capabilities. Its tough there is no phone and never will be that will offer all I in one that's why there is so many brands and chooises

ram : 512mb < 1gb
res : WVGA < qHD
rom : 8gb < 16gb
So, that phone is a downgrade over atrix.

You gave the answer yourself.
Personally I have always cared for the phone part i.e. call quality, signal reception, battery life, talk time both on 2G/3G before all the gimmicks like 3D, HDMI. Atrix and most of Motorola phone are miles ahead in these department.
But however u should rather use both of these phones and choose for yourself. There is no point convincing because you will miss the functionalities in the other.

Sadly xda does not take less than 10 characters so.
Try comparing what you "need" vs. what you "want" and see if that helps...

Personally, the 3D effect on the Evo 3D and Thrill don't seem to have much of an effect. The same goes for active (battery powered glasses) 3D on TVs. However, I would go with the Atrix because overall, it seems like it delivers better on what it promises. The Thrill, on the other hand, lacks the small details like the large battery (not exactly a detail but anyway...), the LED, and more. Plus, I love the 16:9 aspect ratio of the Atrix. Better for movies and browsing lists (Gmail inbox, etc.), both of which I often do.
Honestly get any crappy phone you want. If you don't like your atrix get the thrill.

I've owned both and at this point I don't want either. My Atrix dropped data connection daily and this Thrill lags and the gps has never locked, not to mention the bootloop it went into and hard reset I had to do BEFORE I rooted it. No luck with either yet and I'm tired of exchanging phones

I had to choose on the 7th this week...of any phone AT&T had in their store to upgrade to for free..I look long and hard at the Thrill...and the staff there was pushing it hard..I had been reading everything I could from every review on both where ever I could find them for a solid week before making my choice.
It wouldn't have been a easy decision to make without researching it first...I went with the Atrix for a number of reasons..
First..3d is a fad...and a very bad implemented on at this..The 3d doesn't look real..and the picture actually sucks if you bother to pay attention to it when looking at it instead of the effects..
Second...the sound quality is poor...I'm a audiophile and love good music..The sound quality doesn't make it for me on it because of the clarity and volume...
Third...look at what software upgrades has already been issued for the Atrix..and then look at what LG has done for their phones...
The Atrix is a hardcore phone...the Thrill is a gimmicky phone..Yes..it may score better in a few synthetic benchmarks...but these mean nothing in reality...what matters is how the phone actually performs on a day to day basis..
You take your chances with any smart phone purchase today...since the technology is always improving..but this I know...they had miserable sales on the current 3d technology for the mainstream home usage...and now are pushing it off on us in another way.. The Atrix may have some faults like with it..but most are software issues that can be corrected...and most likely will...and that is something LG doesn't do well...
Buy what ever makes you happy...but..if it were me again ...for my money..I would still buy the Atrix or any Motorola over any LG...
Mac
Phone choices
I think a lot has already been said here on the subject. Ultimately nobody here can tell you what phone is best for YOU because you will always have doubts as you let someone else pick for you.
I looked at a lot of phones, and actually tried them all for a week at a time. The Samsung Galaxy S2 - didn't like it. Too thin, too big, and I didn't like the screen resolution - although the colors just popped out. The camera was really good on this phone. I returned mine.
The Sensation was a sexy phone, HTC makes such polished devices, but the software was laggy, and the screen washed out (The screen matters to me), and the sound quality wasn't very great. Internal storage was pathetic, and the phone was actually a little bit laggy.
I got my Atrix and what got me was the battery life, the screen, the sound quality, the internal storage, the performance.
Yeah, I saw the thrill - i was interested in it, but I wasn't going to order it (optimus 3d). I wouldn't be interested in 3d. It looks like something I would show my friends once say wow cool, and never use it again. Its a gimmick. The phone has impressive specs. The reviews weren't as favorable as I would have thought. Its a cheap dual core phone, and really doesn't look like much of a change from what you have/had in your G2x.
You said you had a Optimus 2x or G2x..and loved it. Why not stay with that? It is similar in performance to the Atrix, it is dual core, there are mods for it now, an like you said...you loved it. Then you can wait it out until something really grabs you. But...make up your own mind.
I love my Atrix, but the LG Thrill is looking pretty bad ass to me. It's definitely better...if you've got the money I'd go for it. Why not?
