DEV Request: Mouse click Coardinate "macro" - Atrix 4G General

Hi, I'm new here. i have just received my Atrix two days ago along with my webtop. i am very into gaming and i would love for this to be possible to develop.
i would like to ask developers to try to create some kind of "program" or whatever it would be called to play on my laptop and play touch screen games and Program Coordinates to a Mouse click for a Specific Key. i play allot of touch screen games and i like RPG style games. the problem i run into is that i cannot press the desired buttons fast enough and or even play some because it is not incorporated into playing with a keyboard.(i know android games will in the future but i mean for the games/apps that are not).
Exrogram a specific coordinate on a game or all games to a specific Key, (Any location on the screen to the "F1" key on my keyboard)... or any key for that matter.
(not tab, shift, esc ect)... just keys that we could use to do specific actions without having to click them with the mouse.
i would love if a developer could look into this and/or create this program allowing us Atrix/Keyboard users to basically "right click" the mouse(or any other way... it does not matter to me) on a coordinate during a game and have the option to set that coordinate to act as if the mouse had clicked that specific location on the screen<without the mouse actually moving to that location at all.
there are many things this could benefit from this. playing and using apps, games at ease and maximizing the usage of this device.
PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!!!! I have talked to a few Aatrix owners and even Emailed Motorola and Android Developers and they think its a great idea and even said that it is capable and would probly be implemented in the future because it would be so useful. the only thing is it is going to take them a long time and i know that it will be Created by an independent developer way before anyone else.
so i ask for your assistance if your a Developer and CHALLENGE you and developers alike to be the first to make this ingenious capability being possible.

really... i was assuming devs would jump on this post... at least state there opinion. so nobody has anything to say about this? i thought it was a great idea. (rather possible or not) i was thinking this would optimize gaming on the webtop Tenfold. (even though games are not smooth on it AT ALL. we would still like to be able to play them easily other then click, click, click and only more clicks other then some games being able to utilize movement keys [arrows or w,a,s,d])

VueFlo - is it sensitive?

Hi everyone,
just want to know, for the VueFlo Function, is it very sensitive to slight and mild tilts? eg if you tilt the device slowly to the sides or up and down in IE, does the screen/page move?
If it is, I plan to make an app/software for it in the future
So interested in Athena but sadly, it's not available in Aussie yet.
its pretty sensitive, only need to tilt a few degree up down left or right. trick is when to turn it on, since all movements are relative to the orientation of the device when vueflow is activated.
i find it just a gimmick for web browsing
the most obvious application would b an arcade game navigating a ball around a maze or something
or a dodgy electronic attitude indicator for an aircraft

Ok. Thanks for that quick reply.
Electronic Attitude Indicator: That's the app I wanted to make.
The sensitivity can be adjusted to low or high and several points in between. Goto settings and VueFlo to adjust sensitivity.
You can also change it work to work in IE or Opera
How do you turn off Vue Flo?? It's driving me nuts!!!

Long press the same button...the icon will disappear in the above menu bar to confirm this.
Thanks!! That does the trick ... You Rock !!!!
So any more owners with comments on this feature? Anyone find it useful?
I find it very useful for random browsing of web pages and news pages. It is easy to turn on and off,and once you get used to it, it really works quite well.

Yes, it's a nice little addon to the device. I use it when I am browsing long pages or am spending a lot of time online, etc.
Wish there was a way to customize it and allow it to interact with other applications. It would be ideal for there to be a settings area where you see a list of installed applications and a check box next to each. Then if you check the box next to Word for example, you could use it with that application. I wonder if it just emulates the directional keys and if so if this can be adapted as an alternate input method. Instead of using the joystick, just write a wrapper that will accept input from Vueflow.

That would be the ultimate solution for using SPB Insight RSS reader!!!
Any way to use VueFLO in all apps?
Obviously, this would be ideal for scrolling through emails/contacts etc.
Unfortunately, doesn't seem like anyone has managed to access the API's/runtimes for this yet---anyone want to give it a shot?
Guys,
I really think we should bring this one back to life, what with the iphone and all its spirit levels and labyrinth games
The simplicity of windows api structure is what makes pocket pc so versatile, lets take advantage!
And there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell I’m going to sit back and watch my co-workers tell me how crap my phone is compared to their Iphone. I’m not in the game of letting a friend's spirit go uncrushed.

The Vuoflo is no different in principle to the N95's accellerometer or the Iphone's auto rotate hardware. It could be used for anything involving d-pad movement (search for NOKMOTE or ROTATEME on Youtube and you'll see what I mean).
It seems that HTC have put a lot of effort into making this hardware un-tappable. Either that or developers aren't interested in developing for it. The possibilities are great though.

[GAME] DiamondTris - Tetris with support for VGA, stylus & wheel sensor

Updated: 2009-01-03, 21:05 (GMT+1)
Me and Swoop2 is creating a Tetris game for us HTC Touch Diamond users out there in need for a great one! Why I wanted to create a new Tetris game for the HTC Touch Diamond was because all of the Tetris games out there got some flaws (imo); not supporting VGA resolution, visually looking bad, running slow etc.. The closest thing I got was TeKnowMagic Tetris, but I wasn't satisfied either way. There's simply no Tetris game out there filling my requirements.
DiamondTris so far:
VGA resolution
Moving pieces - with the wheel sensor or via the on-screen buttons
Rotation of pieces - with the enter button or via the on-screen buttons
Line completion and destruction
Statistics: score, hi-score, level, lines done/remaining
Difficulties: easy, medium, hard (different speeds)
What needs to be done:
Some minior GUI tweaks
Sound effects
Settings (sounds, controls)
You'll need .NET Framework 3.5, which you'll find here
Changelog:
DiamondTris_20090103.cab:
Installs on device or internal storage
Creates a shortcut in Programs\Games
Pause function implemented
DiamondTris_20090102.cab:
New, better looking on-screen buttons
Added some statistics
Disabled piece rotation by tilting the device (needs further tweaking)
Application icon added
+1
sounds like a fairly simple and easy project... if only i had listened in class...
Why don't you get some pledges to encourage a developer
I would pay around £3 for a tetris game designed for our device
Not loads, but if enough people were too pledge their support...

good idea.
i'll let hays pay £3 for a Tetris game
(and i suppose i could chuck a few quid in as well )
Of course I'm in for some donations if this game is created
I started a very basic Tetris app for my touch diamond a while ago - just as a play around as my first Windows Mobile application. It uses the wheel for moving the current piece left and right and I was going to have a go at using the accelerometer to turn the piece clockwise/anticlockwise (i.e. a flick to the left or right).
I've never used OpenGL or anything so it was just done using a timer and the graphics object off the OnDraw event. I got as far as creating the grid, drawing the pieces, moving them around and knowing when lines were completed, etc. Still had a lot to do but it was a proof of concept more than anything else.
I'm just a normal application developer and develop form based applications and back end stuff. If I can get to where I am with my effort in the time I have, then someone who knows how to write games properly could easily do something really good.

Ah, that sounds great! Got any plans on continuation of your work? Onscreen buttons instead of accelerometer sounds even better imo, and is easier to do I think..?
Care to share your source? I can have a look at it myself and see if I can get into Mobil application programming too... or at least someone else here can continue on your base work.
I do plan on finishing it at some point - though I'm not 100% sure when! I don't mind sharing the code anyway, so once I'm back home I'll try and remember to put it on here.

Sounds cool. Looks like I might get a good weekend after all! Do... not... forget... the... add... the source code!
Here's the source code. It is VERY much a work in progress. I started it as a windows application and ported it over to WinMob6. Here's a list of things that I know I still needed to do:
1. Optimise the graphics to get rid of the irritating flicker.
2. Add the piece rotation.
3. Add the score and level display, etc.
4. Decide on the size of the grid (considered leaving it customisable).
5. Add score saving and option saving, etc.
6. Add some backing music.
They're the things I can remember off the top of my head anyway. Lemme know if you have any ideas or questions, etc.

Sweet! I'm at home now, downloading all the requried applications to put up a proper environment here... big packages, so it'll take a while until I'm set.
I'll see if I can manage to do anything, and in case - I'll get back to you
Hi there again Swoop2!
Just tweaked the grid some, added some stats + onscreen buttons (stretched until later ;P) and changed some minor stuff. Here's my latest source. Thanks for sharing!
There's still bunch of stuff to tweak and add. Adding rotation to the game would make it fairly playable. The screen flickering is quite annoying, but perhaps we'll manage to get it working right in the future
Also adding a screenshot of how it looks with the current source.
EDIT: removed the source code, since there's a newer one out there.
Hi Sibbor
That's looking pretty good mate - I like it! I already have some ideas on how to fix the flicker - for the majority of the time anyway. Rendering the image as a bitmap in the background and then just drawing that should hopefully work like a double buffer or something. Also, only invalidating the relevant part of the screen instead of all of it should make a difference too. It worked for my other application anyway.
I'll try and have a play with it this week and send you an update

Sounds great! Made a few more changes but haven't got the latest source available here at work. I'll see if I can get time to upload it later. Otherwise it doesn't matter too much.
I reacted at the code where the grid updates, but have too less experience with WM6 and .NET to actually optimize this to a grade where we'll have no flicker at all. So with other words: I'm looking forward to your anti-flicker code !
I should finally have some time to look at this at the weekend so if you have an updated version can you post it on here?

Hi again mate! Good to hear. Sadly I haven't been able to get too much done since last time, but I'll attach the current source now.
Thought about the rotation and how to create it. Had an idea where you could destroy the current piece when rotating, and creating a new - rotated - piece at the given location. You got any ideas about it otherwise?
I've been looking for a decent Tetris game for Diamond/TP myself.
Question: are you planning on implementing the scrollwheel to move the pieces? I think that would be a nice touch.
Good luck on this. I'll donate to the cause when you guys have something.

this is definately a worth while project, i wasted my time for about 3 hours looking for a nice tetris game 4-5 days ago and came up with very nasty looking basic tetris clones.
which all sucked, id donate £5-7 just for saving me the time!!

I also spent some time looking for some decent versions of Tetris but they all flopped.
I cannot wait till you guys complete this.

[Game] Touch Drummer - Demo

Hey guys. I'm a poster from the HTC Vogue (Touch) Android forums here. I've been working on writing this drum game for a few months now and I wanted to see if I could get a little more attention from the community. Here's the original thread I started:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672836
You may have seen a post yesterday on the home portal about "Matt's Drum Game," well I added a few cool features, renamed it "Touch Drummer" and uploaded that to the market as well. I'm pretty giddy about it, if only because I created an algorithm for multi-touch on resistive screens in about 4 days. It's not perfect but for the game it works well.
There are really two different aspects of my implementation for multi-touch. If you are clicking very rapidly, sometimes the screen won't recognize that you released the first touch, even as the second touch comes in. As long as they are within 150 ms of each other, the app will recognize two separate touches. This allows for some wicked quick banging on the drums! But if you touch one spot and hold it for over 150 ms, then multi-touch a different spot, my algorithm will not only play the original drum but also the second drum, hence multi-touch. The limitation is that you cannot use two fingers to hit two drums almost at the same time, because on the resistive screen it might only register as one point and I have no way of knowing that it's really two. And the reason for the delay is sometimes you aren't actually trying to touch two spots but it would recognize it as that and the point would end up far away from your intended touch. The delay helps forge a difference in the two methods.
Well I'd love to hear from you guys on what you think about the game and the multi-touch. And please, if you don't mind, download "Touch Drummer - Demo" and give a good ranking. I promise that it is a ton of fun, especially for a drummer like myself.
I think that the game is really good - I can touch two drums nearly simultaneously, due to the very small time interval for registering taps.
I have an idea though - maybe you could add challenges with an online high scoreboard, and add voice recognition through the phone's mic for people who wish to sing when drumming.
Keep going at it; I think your game will become brilliant!

Cool, what device are you on? Right now I'm working on making it look good on any screen size, right now it's not for 320x240. I've just added a menu, and adjusted what happens when you go home from the app or press back. Once I learn all the basic stuff that every app needs to have, I will start adding more features. Like the multitouch, someone suggested it, so I went ahead and researched it and can add it. So thanks for the feedback.
BTW I realized there is a forum for software development, and one for games and apps. Should I move this over there?
EDIT: Moved to...

[Q] [IDEA] Android phones as PC/Mac's Application Helper.....(sort of..) for $20?

Hello Everyone,
I'm a graphic designer.. and I (for some reason ) am so sure this is possible on an Android phone... but the question is.. is it worth their time? i hope my $20 dollars and other possible donators... can help answer that question!!
Here's The Concept: (sorry for the long essay)
I would like to use my android's touch screen to be my little helper when i'm on my graphic programs... either photoshop/illustrator.. even my html programs.. i would like a dedicated screen with Tools and Options that i usually use...
This could be done in many ways.... one would require a "server" application and displays the shortcuts according to the App in focus...
or...
You can make android as the HID thing (Sorry!! Thats as technical as i can get..)....so it sends "macros" to photoshop ... but this doesn't really require a server cuz HID thing shud be multi platform?? if i'm not mistaken...so instead of detecting.. there would be applications we choose which will show the appropriate buttons....
Here's one example: Photoshop
While one Photoshop, I would like Cuboid Buttons for Basic Tools(Marquee, Paint Brush, Eraser, Move tool..... ) on an array of screens and with fixed items like the "Undo" or "Layers" "Characters"... which will bring up the proper dialogue...
I'm willing to donate 20$ to the person who can do this ... i hope others can feel my frustration and want to help too... so we can get this going...
Plus.. there is a "Clingo" accessory for phones that can attach any device to any monitor!!! from the looks of it... it could very well work with my idea!!
Thank you for taking your time reading my big essay!!! (sorry)
I may not be a developer for android, but I know that if anyone does it, it'll cost them more than $20 of their time...
I think you should learn the key shortcuts or buy a keyboard with extended keys that you can program.
@DKuntz2 i know it will be more than 20 dollars... thats why i started my donation at 20 ... whoever is feeling like donating to this cause... can hopefully make it worth for the developer....
@jobarjo Yeah, I already know the keyboard shortcuts ... but theres alotta features on the photoshop that are not possible through a simple keyboard shortcut... and besides.. i only used Photoshop as an example, this can be implemented with Word Processors... Web Browsers.... Full screen Media player with controls on the side... I don't know theres alotta potential...
i just hope people find this 'donation' worthy as i do.... a guy can hope right?
It sounds like what you really need is the Optimus Maximus keyboard; http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/
Thanx.
but I am already familiar with the optimus..and that it can change the whole keyboard to pictures...anyways i just thought the guys would want this on their android phone.. rather than wasting $2400 US on that.!!!
I hope ill be able to make this on Google's App Inventor...
Peace.

You can't.
You need a "server" application on the computer which you can make or interact with a GAI app.
You also may need to interact with Photoshop in a way because its not just sending keyboard shortcuts because some tools don't have that.
I am unsure if you need to make a photoshop plugin for that or you can call some functions in the photoshop.exe.(I don't even know how my 3DConnexion SpaceNavigator calls the functions and such in Photoshop)
Google apps doesn't allow this functionality and I am unsure if it ever will(and even if it will it won't be soon)
well that sucks doesn't it...
thanks for that.. i hope i'll be able to make something out of google inventor ... i have soo much ideas... but they're all either novelty or something very specific to me...
This would be really useful, but hard, the way I see it you could do it using HID:
An android App that communicates as a slave device to a desktop machine.
Could use bluetooth and pretend to be HID but you'd have to write the HID layer from scratch in java as Android only does HID as the master (and even then only in CM6)
This would send keypress events which may be enough for some apps, but generally you'd need to map those events to some other combination of actions, under windows a combination of http://www.autohotkey.net/ and http://www.autohotkey.net/~Micha/HIDsupport/Autohotkey.html may do the job.
Implementing HID under Android would be the had part (for me). The rest would need to be configured per-feature-per-app
I do know there are several keyboard applications availble so keyboard shortcuts and keypresses aren't really the problem.
I am just unsure how you would link into photoshop tools without key combos.
You can get for iphone, good idea saves a lot of time
If someone is skilled enough to edit this to something with a Tools gui or allowing to asign a picture and hotkey to a button on the screen and pass on the hotkey to the server..
http://code.google.com/p/remotedroid/
And maybe remove the mouse functionality or put it in a tab.
I think ... we can make an "Action" file.. for most of the commands... and then send the respective keystroke .... that could work also..... and like u said have tabs
but i wudn't need mouse in there...

[MOD REQUEST] launcher-type "dashboard" via gamepad?

Wow, I haven't been on XDA forums since forever!
Sorry if this is not in the right thread, but I really am not sure where to start for this, but XDA-Developers is an awesome and active community, and you guys usually get the job done. If no one here can help, perhaps someone could point me in the right direction of a website or forum to request for this sort of thing?
Ok, What I am looking for is someone willing to create a program that acts as sort of a launcher/dashboard type thing for windows. This program would basically be launched at the push of a button, and allow for a customizable set of options to appear anywhere within windows, most notably in games, and to be navigated via controller. I am thinking of something similar to the Xbox 360 controller's "guide" button, or PS3's "PS" button. both bring up a menu with options for convenience, and I am surprised to have not found anything like this for PC Gamers. I personally have an HTPC setup where my machine is hooked up to my tv, and having this sort of feature would be a great addon for my setup!
So basically, pressing the "home button" on said controller, would bring up a pop up menu, allowing options such as launching a customized program/utility/etc (perhaps a quick way to launch steam, or even steam big picture mode); being able to shutdown, restart, or even sleep PC; shutting off controller (if its a wireless controller of course); or even an option to reassign controller inputs, similar to how PS3 allows (probably again specifically for wireless controllers); or even allowing quitting of the currently running game/program. Of course these are just some options that could be done, as I'm sure others could think of even better ideas than myself.
Obviously, I know nothing about programming myself, so I have no real skill to do this sort of thing, but if a developer or someone willing were to be able to make something like this, and it work pretty good, id be more than happy to donate to the person. I know PC gamers can be vastly different from one another, so someone else's need (including myself) would probably seem rather silly and pointless to another. Im sure desktop gamers would not find much use for this. But then again I think there are others that would, and I personally think HTPC gamers specifically would appreciate a program like this. Again, I don't know much about programming, but I would assume creating a simple but customizable pop up menu would not be too difficult. I think the hardest part would be finding the function call for the xbox guide button, and whatever commands to call to turn off said controllers. But creating options like custom program launcher, shutting off pc, etc, are probably a lot easier. I personally use PS3 controllers via Bluetooth, but they just emulate a xbox 360 controller on my pc, so I think my only difference would be a command specific to PS3 controllers to turn off said controller.
Anyone else think this is a good idea? I've asked several of my gaming peers whom all seem to agree this would be a cool idea to be able to have. This could technically bring a more console-like experience to PC gaming as well. If no one here is interested, or able to help, I would much appreciate anyone willing to direct me to another website or forum that possibly could help me? Much thanks guys! Let me know what you think.
Any takers? Anyone? Someone at least give me an idea of where else I could go to request something like this? thanks
I don't think there is a way to intercept the guide button being pressed on an Xbox controller easily, but steam big picture somehow does it so it must be possible.
Otherwise it wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to do.
There's a program called "xboxext" by a djpety that utilizes the guide button by popping up a window allowing you to turn off your Xbox controller.
I haven't had any luck in getting a reply from him, but it seems he has managed to figure out how to get the guide button to work. Apparently its an undocumented API call, which is probably the same thing big picture mode in steam uses.
Either way, if someone were able to create this particular utility using another button, it would be a great start. Long term goal would be to allow function via guide button, but it could be any button for the time being.
Hmmm.... Anyone?
