Hey Guys, I often recieve mms messages, I often long-press them and click the option as "Save to SD Card". Even while using Root Explorer I cannot find where these pictures go, Does anyone know where the files may be located?
What app are you using for the messaging? And are you talking about saving a media file, pic, video, sound?
I'm interested as well. I can't seem to find the SD card in Astro File Manager...
Well I use Handcent for my messing app, and I'm talking about saving a picture from inside the app.

All astro allows you to browse is your SD card. You need root to veiw and modify system files and astro does not require root

Go to the settings in the app and you can choose where to save pictures
if its pictures just open up gallery they should be there

Using Handcent, when I select "Copy attached to SD card" it saves the attachment to "/sdcard/handcent/download"
I can then navigate there using Explorer or Astro and view the downloaded attachment.

I am trying to add a link (icon) to a movie (Transformers 2) to my home screen just like the Avatar movie has. I have decompiled the apk for avatar, replaced the icon with one of my own and changed all references to avatar within the files to reflect Transformers 2. I have also changes the path within the files to point to where the new movie is. When I go to compile it, everything goes well. When I go to install it on my phone, it gives me an error that it was not installed. Can anyone look at this and give me a pointer?
I have the icon labeled the same as the avatar logo, just because I didn't want to rename it within the file as I kept getting compiling errors when I did change it.
Just download a file explorer program long press on the home screen click shortcuts go to your file explorer and find transformers. That's what I did with my leftover card from the hd2

Not sure what you're getting at. If I choose my file manager program all it does is link to it. I want to be able to have an icon on my screen that launches the file itself, just like it does avatar. Thanks for the reply though.
The logcat output should show the real error message, use adb logcat to view it. Did you resign the apk?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes, I resigned it without error. Where can I find the logcat after a failed install?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
kinda off topic, but where is the avatar movie stored? i havnt been able to find it on the sdcard?
Its on the external sdcard in a folder called movie
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you have astro installed. You can go to the widget menu, click shortcut, click astro, click the movie. That will add a shortcut directly to the movie on your desktop.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Awesome, thanks youneek. Now if there is a way to change the icon. hmmmmm

Yes you just need to put a .nomedia file in all the folders you dont want to media scan.

you can also use ES File Explorer (free on market)
open it and go the the folder with the pictures/files you dont want to show then press menu, New file & save as .nomedia
App devs who don't do this by default, are just plain lazy

Anyone have any idea how to keep Album and Ebook Covers from showing up in the gallery. Want it to be just my photos etc from cam and downloads but they all show up there in all different folders?
Find where those pictures are stored. Go in that folder and make a new folder call .nomedia
Thanks

Just touch and hold the "offending" file and an option menu will pop up where you can select "Exclude" - done.

I use a great little free app called quickpic which allows you to chose which folders are listed and it loads up large galleries nice and quick.

personally i find the default Gallery app pretty rubbish, it only refreshes content on a reboot for example.
i try and avoid using it as much as possible.

Yes, thats a nice little one.. I just loaded it and it has the exclude in it..
also allows you to backup to the root directry that the offending files are hanging out under..
i.e Books\nonfiction\files.. thus no need to do it individually..
it also works in well with the Picture framer I am using as a widget on one of my home screens..
where I have setup client files for previews.. now I think I just about got the perfect setup for it as a portable
casestudy showcase..so to recap on that..
ESfile explorer - to setup directory links as folders on a home screen
Picture framer to allow 4 large pictures on any one home screen - thus a quick tap takes you in to that themed directry
Quickpic - to run as the main viewer and slideshow engine..

Very sorry but forgot to tell you that I was using Quickpic rather than Gallery.
Quickpic is excellent.
on my GNote.... I can long press on the picture that some-1 txt'd me and I saved. (it always goes to the download folder).
Anyways.. I long press on it under 'my files' and one of the options is "MOVE"...
then I find the folder I want and 'paste' it in there..
Well...
on this 7,7....... there is NO OPTION to move......
So... How can I move this pic(s) out of the download folder to my secret folder on my external sd card??
I have been trying for a few days now without success...
Any and all help on this project would be greatly appreciated..
All replies are welcomed and encouraged..
Thanks to all who reply..
thanks again.

As far as I know you can only move your files within your external sdcard or within internal memory. You may not move files from internal memory to external or the other way around. I tried it.
There maybe only way is used computer to move file between memories.
yeah.... I guess Ill just have to email them to myself then transfer them from the laptop to my 6800's micro sd.... a bit of a hassle..
the GNote allows you to "move".....
dammn
Are you sure you can't use the "my files" app which is already installed on the tablet and do it that way, I have this tab and I'm sure I've done that before.

Use cut/paste (in myfiles tick file, tap scissor icon top of screen, navigate to destination folder, tap paste icon top of screen)?
You can definitely moe files with the built in file explorer, or if u are rooted, you can try root explorer.

Hey guys I have a weird issue where my gallery app is not seeing some of my pics on my external sd card. The pics it is not seeing are pics that I had moved onto the card from my computer. They are in the DCIM folder along with some pics I have taken with my device. Currently only the pics taken with my device are showing in the gallery app. Anyone else having this issue?
Mods, please move this to the help/Q&A section. I mistakenly posted in general
Hey guys just want to bump this. Surely I'm not the only one having this problem. Any help greatly appreciated

In my case the gallery shows only pictures saved till a given date. Lasta night I made an experience: Dismounted SD card and Mounted it agais, amd the result is that now I get even less pictures displayed.
However I can find and use them using root explorer, but not with any gallery app
I also run some sd-fix app's but with no result
very strange

Thanks pasil. Hopefully somebody else might chime in with some other ideas. I've tried everything so far. It just doesn't make sense. The .jpg files are saved in the same place as the other .jpg files that are pictures I have taken with my phone. There is no logical reason why those .jpg pics show up and not the ones from my computer. The gallery app should pick up all .jpg files.

Just tried clearing data/cache. Didn't work. [emoji19]
I even tried using a different gallery app and that app doesn't see the photos either.
Did you checked the date? sometimes it's resetted to 1999 and the recently taken photos are placed at the end of the list.

Just checked the dates and they are OK. The recent photos I have taken with my device all show in my gallery, but some of the other .jpg photos I moved onto my sd card from my computer just aren't showing up at all in the gallery. Makes no sense. I'm totally at a loss. I can see the pics in ES File explorer but not in the gallery
That maybe stupid suggestions. Can you access those "invisible" picture using stock file manager? If yes, try to create new folder using stock file manager and copy/move few pictures for testing. Check if new folder with pictures shows in gallery.

Maybe you could try little walk around. What about uploading few testing pictures on your pc to your dropbox account and see if you can successfully save them for offline viewing on your note.

Ok so this is really weird. If I download a pic from my drive account it does show up in my gallery. Also, if I move one of the photos that is not visible in gallery on my sd card to my internal device storage then it also becomes visible in my gallery. So the issue is isolated to photos moved onto the ext sd card from my pc. I'm hoping someone smarter than me can come up with a fix because I have many photos I like to keep downloaded on my ext sd card.
What about moving them back to sd card. Try to create folder on sd card using stock file manager and move pictures to that folder. I have no problem storing pics on my sd card.

Ok so problem solved! Upon your advice I created a folder on my sd card and moved the pics there and they showed up! Turns out if you have them saved anywhere in the DCIM folder on the SD card they won't show up, but if you move them out from there they show up in the gallery app just fine.
instaled Quickpic and now I can see all photos and pictures
