Moving pics from D/L folder to.....?? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

on my GNote.... I can long press on the picture that some-1 txt'd me and I saved. (it always goes to the download folder).
Anyways.. I long press on it under 'my files' and one of the options is "MOVE"...
then I find the folder I want and 'paste' it in there..
Well...
on this 7,7....... there is NO OPTION to move......
So... How can I move this pic(s) out of the download folder to my secret folder on my external sd card??
I have been trying for a few days now without success...
Any and all help on this project would be greatly appreciated..
All replies are welcomed and encouraged..
Thanks to all who reply..
thanks again.

As far as I know you can only move your files within your external sdcard or within internal memory. You may not move files from internal memory to external or the other way around. I tried it.
There maybe only way is used computer to move file between memories.

yeah.... I guess Ill just have to email them to myself then transfer them from the laptop to my 6800's micro sd.... a bit of a hassle..
the GNote allows you to "move".....
dammn

Are you sure you can't use the "my files" app which is already installed on the tablet and do it that way, I have this tab and I'm sure I've done that before.

Yes.. Check out the original post...
My files....
Yes.....
No option to "move"

Use cut/paste (in myfiles tick file, tap scissor icon top of screen, navigate to destination folder, tap paste icon top of screen)?

You can definitely moe files with the built in file explorer, or if u are rooted, you can try root explorer.

Yeh like I said using the built in file explorer I've moved files from intenal to external storage and even from a usb stick.

Movie icon - like Avatar

I am trying to add a link (icon) to a movie (Transformers 2) to my home screen just like the Avatar movie has. I have decompiled the apk for avatar, replaced the icon with one of my own and changed all references to avatar within the files to reflect Transformers 2. I have also changes the path within the files to point to where the new movie is. When I go to compile it, everything goes well. When I go to install it on my phone, it gives me an error that it was not installed. Can anyone look at this and give me a pointer?
I have the icon labeled the same as the avatar logo, just because I didn't want to rename it within the file as I kept getting compiling errors when I did change it.
Just download a file explorer program long press on the home screen click shortcuts go to your file explorer and find transformers. That's what I did with my leftover card from the hd2

Not sure what you're getting at. If I choose my file manager program all it does is link to it. I want to be able to have an icon on my screen that launches the file itself, just like it does avatar. Thanks for the reply though.
The logcat output should show the real error message, use adb logcat to view it. Did you resign the apk?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes, I resigned it without error. Where can I find the logcat after a failed install?

kinda off topic, but where is the avatar movie stored? i havnt been able to find it on the sdcard?
Its on the external sdcard in a folder called movie

If you have astro installed. You can go to the widget menu, click shortcut, click astro, click the movie. That will add a shortcut directly to the movie on your desktop.

Awesome, thanks youneek. Now if there is a way to change the icon. hmmmmm

I use wifi file explorer to move stuff to and from my phone. It isn't as slick as showing up in your file explorer, but it gives you web access from any computer on the network.

You can't. Also, if you put apps into folders, they will mysteriously move outside again after while, so don't even bother. Maybe they fix this some day.

Samsung was a bit shortsighted on that one and didn't build something like that in their launcher. My workaround for this is the following procedure: go into edit mode, grab the folder you want to edit to a new empty page and than delete the folder. The apps in it will populate the new page and you can re-add them to a new folder in your desired order, than re-add the new folder. If you want a more convient way for this try GO Launcher EX from market. It handles folders much more user friendly. As a note: You'll not be able to use any of samsungs widgets with any of the alternative launchers though.

I never have had something like that happening. Did you uninstall/install an app? In that case it looses its place in the folders.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Yea it sucks that we have to use such a long proceduren.. I quite like to organise apps in folders..

Gallery

Anyone have any idea how to keep Album and Ebook Covers from showing up in the gallery. Want it to be just my photos etc from cam and downloads but they all show up there in all different folders?
Find where those pictures are stored. Go in that folder and make a new folder call .nomedia
Thanks

Just touch and hold the "offending" file and an option menu will pop up where you can select "Exclude" - done.

I use a great little free app called quickpic which allows you to chose which folders are listed and it loads up large galleries nice and quick.

personally i find the default Gallery app pretty rubbish, it only refreshes content on a reboot for example.
i try and avoid using it as much as possible.

Yes, thats a nice little one.. I just loaded it and it has the exclude in it..
also allows you to backup to the root directry that the offending files are hanging out under..
i.e Books\nonfiction\files.. thus no need to do it individually..
it also works in well with the Picture framer I am using as a widget on one of my home screens..
where I have setup client files for previews.. now I think I just about got the perfect setup for it as a portable
casestudy showcase..so to recap on that..
ESfile explorer - to setup directory links as folders on a home screen
Picture framer to allow 4 large pictures on any one home screen - thus a quick tap takes you in to that themed directry
Quickpic - to run as the main viewer and slideshow engine..

Quickpic is excellent.

Phone Apps not staying in folders

Good morning all.
I just discovered that if I put any of my phone apps into folders (e.g. put Phone or Messages or Video into into a folder in the app drawer) and reboot, the apps are magically dumped from their respective folders back into the root folder (app drawer).
Does anyone else have this issue?

There is thread with this exact problem, try to find it. From what I remembered, if you add apps to folder by clicking on that plus sign, they will disapear. You need to click on menu button and then edit. Here you should edit your folders and then save. Once done this way, they will stay in their folders.

Thanks for the response. I'll give that a shot. I used that method to do my other apps; phone apps seem to be the only ones affected. Will let you know how it turns out and will also look into that thread when I find it.

That seems to have done the trick. The phone apps are staying inside their folders and they're not magically popping back into the root folder. Thanks!

Solution: Do not use the plus sign inside the folders, or the apps will fall out of the folders when you reboot. Instead, press “Edit,” and drag and drop the apps into the folders. This will keep the apps inside the folders. Honest. It worked for me.
