What happens if we buy the xoom under a contract for 2 years, and then cancel it within 3 days? Do we have to pay etf, return the device, or maybe even pay the difference in price???

you are paying the $350 etf for an advance device

My Xoom is bought through Costco, they have a $35 rebate. Hypothetically if I were planning on using data ever, it would be worth it to pay for the first month and get the rebate, rather than cancelling now correct?
If i cancel now and decide one month I want data, I will have to pay the activation fee at least once correct?
Correct.

Out of curiosity, Did the iPad have an activation fee?
Does whatever I decide to do with the month to month have anything to do with the costco return period as well?

Did you read it? For you to get the MIR you have to have data for 3 months. As for the activation fee, if the device is without service for 60 days you will have to pay the fee. This is regardless of rather you have paid it before or not.

I didnt buy from costco, but they said 1 month service for the rebate repeatedly, is it indeed 3 months?

Not sure on the ipad, but costco has 90 days for a return policy, regardless of what you do with the service terns. Essentially treated as 2 different purchases with different terms, the hardware being 90 days.

I have the sheet in front of me, it's vague at best.
"This rebate is contingent to your monthly service. Should you cancel or return your device the rebate will not be honored"
I figure the contract was likely written for cell phone contracts, not month to month.
Thanks
I basically just had a. 2 hour convo with Davidia bison'a supervisor at verizon customer care. I explain that if I have my xoom on contract I pay 600 for it but off contact its 800 now the problem I see is that the xoom has. A 350 dollar early termanation fee witch mean there crucking us out of 150 dollars so after a long talk she noted my account that if and when I do decide to cancel that the etf will'only be 200 the remaning price of the device not 350 the full etf
So just wanted to give a lil insight in case no one has relized

You do realize that's generally how ETFs work?
Well. I wasn't gonna have it there being. A theif

You probably shouldn't post your account number here, with a little social engineering someone could do something bad with that.
The thing about ETFs is that, like any contract, they offered you a discount in return for you signing up for 2 years of service. It's dumb cellphone comany logic, but they make the ETF higher so you won't just ditch your contract whenever. It's like any contractual agreement with a set number of months, if you bail out early you are going to get hit with fees... fees that you absolutely agreed to when you signed the contract. If you sign a contract you should know the terms.
I understand etf, but it usually is $350 when you get a $500 or more cellphone and you only pay $199 with a 2 year contract. But when you get a $799 worth product for only $200 less I don't see how they want to stuck you with a $350 etf. It'd be unwise to sign such a contract.

Check the fine print. I was told it would be a 350 etf too, then I read the contract I signed to find out it was a max of 175...
Its considered a data device. $175.

So is it 175 or 350? The verizon website shows the higher price.

Does anyone know any places where i could see my phone? I need to get out of this contract. I'm never buying a phone on contract again.

Selling your phone won't end your contract. If you cancel your contract early you'll be paying an early termination fee. If you're selling your phone to pay off the etf then disregard this lol.
i have been looking into this also lol im thinking about leaving t-mobile, i probably wont sell it for a few more months but around $215 good condition on ebay
realistically about 150. this all depends on where you live i suppose.

So the Father's Day Deal is coming up. Any TMO Nexus S users planning to jump on the deal and upgrade?

All deals you have to sign a contract. This deal eliminates the fee that you have to pay to get the phone you want so its not a bad deal. You save like $200 if you want a one s.

It's even more expensive buying the phone straight up then pay the monthly data fees.
Only thing kinda has me reconsidering to upgrade is I think I will lose the grandfathered 5GB plan that I am on now (signed up for it when I bought the NS when it first came out). Really like the GS3 but losing the 5GB plan is a deal breaker.

have u ever bought a phone straight up? I always do you its 20$ cheaper on plan not being in a contract...on contract you pretty much pay the retail sometimes more
20$ x 24 (2 year contract) is 480$

You're missing the point here.
Let say you buy the phone without the contract for a good deal $500. And you pay a monthly data plan for $20. $20 * 24 + $500 = $980.
On a contract, you get the phone for say $199 + $20 * 24 = $679. In this promotion you even get the phone for free.
You can't say paying the data plan for nothing. You're using the service. The cheaper plan you referred to is the 200MB a month plan. Watching a Netflix show and there goes the 200MB.

I'm frustrated to say the least with vzw
Oh, if this the Wrong place for this sorry.
The lack of updates to the note 3 and the looking down on the note 3 that prevents me from taking it elsewhere without hassles.
I pay $150/mo for "America's best network" that drops to 3g if I go into any buildings in Las Vegas on the strip.
So is this tracking bull enough to cancel a contract early? Honestly I want to just go to. T-Mobile for their cheaper plans with no contract and just be done with this crazy bill and crap service.
My contract ends in August. I'm. Perpetually under employed and the contract I'm on for share everything started when I had my old. Job paying my bill every month.
Any ideas?
Just go ahead and switch to T-Mobile. They will pay your etf.

If I trade my note 3, for a whopping $175 yes indeed, they'll pay the etf.
At this point without wonderful credit, T-Mobile wants me to pay half of any device up front so the $175 goes towards a T-Mobile device, of which the top end require me to have $300 up front.
So yes. They will pay the $150 etf and $175 device credit but that is a total of $325 and I'd like to imagine my note 3 as worth more on eBay.
Maybe just wait till the note 4. I like the oneplus but like the s-pen more.
