I am looking to buy the samsung vibrant at the lowest possible price without signing a contract, as I'll be moving to Africa in a few months for work.
I had heard of that costco was selling them for $250 off contract, and after rushing to the nearest costco to snatch up one(or 2), i was disappointed to find it had been increased to $479.99
Does anyone know anywhere that has it cheaper. I'm already selling my xperia x10 to put towards the purchase
Thanks

Yeah the costco deal ended a few weeks ago. I believe you could sign a contract for a 99$ phone then pay the 200$ ETF and get the phone for 300$. Im not sure if there are any negatives but I think that is currently the only way to get one for less then the full off contract price, unless anyone else knows about something I dont.
Oh, there is the Bing cashback route, get 35% off the off-contract phone, so you can get the phone for 325$.

I was able to get the phone from the t-mobile site for 146USD, but that was with a contract.
I just bought two from Wal-Mart for $99 each with a 2 -year extension. I showed them that Amazon.com is selling them for that price. Before that I went to the T-Mobile store and they wouldn't budge from $199. Went down the street to Wally World and they hooked me up. Happy New Phone Day for me and wifey!

Good suggestion, totally worth it to cancel and pay the ETF.
I'm curious if this would work?

If it does then you can get it for $274!!!

most internet dealers that sell the phone for less than normal contract retail price include extra ETF (termination fees) to make sure people dont change anything on their contract (bulk of their money comes from you signing a carrier contract so price of the phone isnt that big a deal for them)

Ahhh ic...thanks for the input....makes sense
i think amazon is still selling it for 99$
bing cashback is dead FWIW.
was it 2 years for each phone or 2 years for both?
Asked Tmobile if they price match with walmart, one representative said they would, a different rep said they wouldn't as walmart's a third party seller.
They also said if i got the phone for the 2yr contract price and then cancelled, i would be charged $200 ETF and would also be charged for the FULL price of the phone

i'm thinking this same thing. might have to do this deal later this afternoon, especially if i could just switch it back to an EM+ plan after canceling the contract
That would be a great price. Get a new contract for .01 convert to em+ don't even need to cancel I think and etf phone at 200.01 and the best prices in industry. Shame I already bought mine.

Read Amazon's fine print. If you take this deal and cancle your contract with T-Mobile in less than 181 days, Amazon will bill you an extra $250. That is in addition to T-Mobile charging you the early termination fee.

post your experiences here and let us all know how it goes...were you able to get $399? $499? did the employees know what they were doing or was it a huge hassle? if you had to argue/explain/haggle your way to a certain price fill us in on how, why, etc... and let us know of any other issues someone going later in the week should be wary of if any....
Called a shop in Atlanta yesterday and the guy said "499, eehm, no wait, 399." A friend of mine is picking one up for me to bring to Germany, told him he can go up to 499 if it's deadly necessary..
I talked to one of my local stores and was told $499....
just bumping this up for tomorrow...or today if anyone's lucky....
The stores here said.they were getting.them tomorrow; ill call one now and see what the pricing is; if I can get it for 400 off contract ill do that.

All I know is if I ordered through the premier site (business line) I qualified for an immediate 100 discount, which means I would get the same discount in stores. Could be the fact that I have a business line, but I'm not sure.
Granted, it looks like I'll be buying mine at a 3rd party reseller today since he's supposed to get it in stock and always does a sale before the release date if he can.
Also as far as I know it's $299 before a $100 MIR and AT&T lets you get the rebate on an off contract device if you have the qualifiers for data also. Which I will since I have my data plan and messaging plan.
naturefreak,
Have you found any stores local to you that are willing to sell you the phone today? I'm headed to Town Center in a couple hours..
My local store is selling it for $499 off contract OR $199 plus a $200 dollar upgrade fee. So buying off contract would cost me about 533 with tax, the other option would be about 412 but lock me into another 2 years. decisions decisions.
Pay $499 and submit the rebate for $100 back... that's what I'd try at least. As long as you have a qualifying voice/data plan I don't see why the rebate company would deny your $100 rebate...

Nothing in Boca, Phone Super Store in Boynton is supposed to get it today. I've got myself on their list. They should call me the moment it arrives, I'm happy I work around the corner from there.
I'm not too worried either way. I plan on showing the lady in the store tomorrow that I can order it on Premier and get an instant $100 discount and see what she says. If she gives me a hard time I'll just pay the $100 and submit the rebate form. I'm pretty sure the rebate company will give me the $100, but if by chance they don't.. no big loss. By the way, who did you ask about the $100 rebate if paying $499.. some person in the store or at telesales?

Hey, that worked 2 years ago when I bought my Bold 9000 at full retail. I swear I buy phones way too often. Since I bought that phone I have had the 9700, the Backflip, the SE C905A, the Motorola Backflip, and now the Nexus one. Next up is clearly the beast of a machine Atrix.
FU.. thats right across the street from me. Let the guy know that you know someone else who wants one.

Soo I found that the evo would be $469 no contract. Now idk if its just me but imo id buy that over a 2yr anyday. No matter how u look at it. You'll be able to upgrade and sell the phone anytime u wish.
I'm getting the sgs2. But I was wondering hat everyone else thought about my opinion.

I dont get what is so bad about renewing contract?
Lets say I renewed my contract. I pay $200 for the phone, and want to cancel my contract two months down the road, I pay an additional $150 cancelation, so the total I have into the phone is $350 vs the $460 full price.
If you are going to be on Sprint anyway, why not renew the contract?

I was wondering the same thing, as it seems cheaper to go the route above...
The way I look at it renewing the contract is no big deal, Sprint has the best prices when you look at the unlimited data.
If down the road they do jack the prices then you can terminate your contract with no early termination fee anyways since it's considered a change in contract terms and conditions.
What are you going to do, go to Verizon and be capped or AT&T and really get hamstrung?
My wife alone blows through at least 3gb a month in data streaming Pandora at work since their computers are locked down.
Well the whole idea is about what phone u have. Regardless of our plans.
As for early termination, are u allowed to keep the phone if u terminate it early? (Signed new 2yr when buying a phone?)

If you search u can find deals if you are patient. I got the epic on a deal for 58 bucks (including shipping) with a 2 year contract. At that I could sell the phone and make a profit with the penalty for the contract.

just saw this on SD and preorderd the phone.. 469 is not that bad off contract..
I actually just bought two Epics newly referb'd for $200 a pop because I didn't want to renew my contract.
I did this for two reasons:
1.) Didn't want to give up my upgrade because of the SG2 or another phone that hasn't been released or announced yet.
2.) Concerned about Sprint's future between the big changes in the coverage map that occurred after March and the 20 billion dollar possible investment with Lightsquared that has "supposed" GPS interference issues--I'm not signing a 2 year until I get that warm fuzzy feeling again.
Besides, I feel that the beginning of the summer isn't when you renew the contract/phone, the fall is after knowing what's left for the end of the year, not much gets released in Q1 so IMO early Q4 is the sweet spot, so you can compare what's out there to what's left to be released.
The Evo and Epic had plenty of bugs in the beginning that I don't mind waiting a month after or so release to see what gets fixed and how long it takes.
I'm not switching from Sprint anytime soon, so I imagine that my renewal of contracts wont go in vain.

But if you think about it, the Evo and Epic came out within two months or so of each other, and they were the two biggest phones that sprint had all year. I will almost bet that they dont have any drastic changes after the sgs2 until next summer, and I will have another upgrade then. Heck, even if they do have another change, I will sell me epic, and my sgs2 if need be, and upgrade.
So the real issue is those of us that have the Epic that haven't passed our 1 year mark yet. Will Sprint let us renew a 2year to get the cheaper price? no way am i gonna fork out almost $500 for a phone just to have the newest.
JD
I'm actually quite with my Epic. Its probably going to take a 4.3" S-amoled screen with a keyboard to get me to replace it.

You can sell your used epic for more than the $300 ETF plus $58 (plus sellers fees if you go to ebay)? Maybe you can net $5 if you're lucky. You'll more likely lose $50-100.

But that's not including the monthly payments for service
I would just buy it straight up 460$ and use the hotspot from the epic to run the evo3d

I don't know where else to ask this question without actually calling AT&T, but I'm needing to thin out my monthly payments and am wanting to get out of my AT&T contract. The longest contract I have expires in May of 2015 so I got a while.
My question is this: if I decided to go ahead and cancel with my sim unlocked phone will I be able to go with a pay as you go option? I'm not going to be able to afford the $800+ in cancellation fees right off the bat so I wanted to know if they will bar my phone from any carrier if it's already unlocked?
Not sure if this is an option, but I believe T-moble just offered to buy contracts of people leaving ATT/Verizon/Sprint.

Yeah I have 4 lines all under contract, one expiring in October, the others I think are early next year. I'm pretty sure my etfs will total over $800 which I won't have for a while. My question is if I cancel my lines, am I going to be black listed for going with a pre paid service like straight talk?

They'll probably blacklist the IMEIs. T-Mobile will give you up to $650 per line, for up to five lines. You can get a max of $300 for the phone, and then $350 for the ETF fee. As it stands, the trade in value for the S4 is $163 for 16GB models.
