I just finished uzing z4 root, then I tried to use the verizon tab bootstrapper.
Now the phone whoops, tablet.. will go to the samsung screen if I do vol + and power and stay there. When I do volume - and power I get the "Downloading, Do not turn off target. I've tried holding the power button down. It hasnt been plugged into the computer.
I appreciate any help, sorry if this is a noob post.. but i've been searching for a few hours now.
EDIT: Now I get a loading battery logo instead of Samsung screen.
Nobody??
I'm dying here
I had something similar.all I did to fix it was turn it on though.

I've tried a thousand drivers, holding down every which button in every combination for every amount of seconds.
.....and this is why I am afraid to bootstrap and put the recovery on it. I saw that the bootstrap bricked a lot of peoples tabs.
And without a whole lot of dev action here and community,i feel will just have to skip roms on this device at last until stuff gets cleaned up here and hacks are less buggy

Loading battery means the unit is off but is plugged in, but kernel is not working quite right. While off, hold vol + & power until you see the samsung logo then release immediately. This should get you into CwM where you will need to make sure the ext4 process completes.
You need a properly formatted and mounted sd card in place with enough space for the automated pre ext4 backup. Most times you will need to clear cache using the CwM menu and reboot for it to start th conversion over fresh. You might have to do the vol + & power trick again to get back to CwM console after the reboot. Wipe data/factory reset is good to do also to make sure none of your previous tweaks/settings/apps are causing issue with the conversion, and once again you will want to clear cache after wipe/reset and before rebooting.
Hope this gets you somewhere
EDIT: Since you can get into DL mode, you could check out flashing the KhasMek kernel using heimdall if non of the above works. Would probably get you unstuck and set up with a few extras in addition to what the bootstrapper would do.
EDIT2: Boushh has a post on one of the last few pages of his thread with the new kernel that you want. The original post has not been updated quite yet.

It won't let me past the samsung screen and into CwM.
Thank you for trying to help though
I'd do the heimdall trick, but I can't get any drivers to work either.
The drivers magically started working by themselves.
Flashing the kernel you recommended right now, thanks a ton

Ok so I have been running the Dexter mod version 1.2 on my elocity, and I got brave and decided to update to v1.41. After installing I am stuck at a screen that says "Booting recovery kernel image". I have been trying to find a solution to this, but I feel a bit in over my head, as I am quite new to this. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction of a fix if there is one? I'm not exactly a tech genius but I can follow step-by-step instructions Anyone?
Make sure the file size of your .zip is 104mb
Could have been a bad download.
Re-download, make sure to check file size.
Start from scratch. Making sure to do the wipe/factory reset and clear cache.
Hope it helps. Bricks are so much less entertaining than tablets.
My .zip is showing as 110mb even after downloading again
Since I am stuck at the "booting recovery kernel image" screen I haven't been able to get back to the recovery menu...is there a way to force?

If you hold the power button in for about 15 seconds it will turn off and you can restart the process.
Hope this helps you.
After it powers back up it keeps taking me to the same screen instead of the recovery menu...
After it has turned off. Removed the SDcard...Hold the button in for 2 seconds and release...Then hold the button in again till the message about holding it in for 5 seconds appears...Keep holding the botton in...DO NOT RELAESE IT till the config screen comes up...Navigate to factory reset...choose the YES option.
That should then reset back to factory settings. I would also redownload the Dexter Mod again, just to make sure it wasn't corrupt.
That should clear it up for you.

For some reason it won't take me to the 5 seconds message (it used to before all this no prob)...it just has the same "booting" message when it initially comes up and if I continue to hold down the power button, it will power back off instead of the config screen
Follow the instructions but hold the power and press the home button at the same time i tend to get recovery that way

Ok. If you got broken recovery and broken system too - you should use hard methods to restore.
1) read this

2) Do all preparations things - install Nvidia Developer Kit, drivers, buy or find A-A cable
3) If you need any help with this - write here or use PM.
hi, i have trouble booting into recovery. what i do is press "n" and power and it always goes to "Boot Menu" ... can someone tell me what that is and what it does ? ( i know i can boot into it by pressing power and selecting reboot and recovery just trying to find out how to from power-off) thanks.
I'm not the most knowledgeable one to answer this. I was waiting to see if someone else would post here.
But here goes. When I want boot into recovery when my nook is off, I power on holding down the n key. When the boot screen appears, I use the n key to toggle different options on the first line. I opt to boot from emmc. Then use the volume keys to move down to the next line and use the n key again to choose boot into recovery.
I don't remember the exact order of the lines, so I may be a little off, but I hope this helps get you booted into recovery from the boot screen

Thanks for trying to help. i was experiencing boot-loop i think.. ( i wasn't even able to turn my NC off at all. it just kept booting up and being stuck on the Cyanogenmod loading screen every time when i turn it off by holding down power), thats why i needed to boot into recovery from power-off. how it happened was i upgraded to cm9. i wiped cache and dalvik and formatted boot, system and data before flashing. ( i know some instruction here tells to do a wipe data/factory reset. i didnt do that ) I fix it and went back to cm7 by putting in a bootable sd with CWR in the two seconds that it stays off... but the strange thing was that once again i did it my way (wipe cache/dalvik and format boot, system, data) and this time it worked~ no boot-loop. now i wonder what really caused boot-loop the first time even when i had the bootable sd card in it didn't even boot into recovery itself i had to push "n" like crazy ... to get in ...

also if you have cwr on a bootable sd card you can use rom manager to flash cwr internally, so you wont need a bootable sd card, if you want to get into cwr just use rom manager and select reboot into recovery, i use to have cwr on my sd and didnt like it because you would have to take out the sd card everytime you boot, but this way is much easier, you can back up in rom manger instead of doing it the manual way...holding n and power button, hope this helps
Hi!
I rooted my Droid 2 with SuperOneClick and everything seemed fine. Then I installed the Bootstrap Recovery and reboot to the recovery and made a backup. After that I intalled the CWM9 room and rebooted, but I after the Motorola logo it won't go further. I've waited a long time and nothing. I've tried to go to the recovery but it doesn't work holding the X and power button, the /!\ doesn't appear. I can only go to the bootloader holding the UP arrow. How can I solved this, I've been looking on google and I didn't find anything.
Try holding both the volume up and down buttons while powering on

First boot can take around ten minutes. Did you wipe data and cache before flashing? Found it's also best to format and remount system as well when going to ICS roms from GB.
I seem to have bricked my S4.. Here's what I did... I was flashing the KT kernel, and accidentally downloaded the wrong version. After flashing, my phone will do nothing more than sit on a black screen and vibrate every 2 seconds. I used Odin to return to stock, and it completed successfully. It still does nothing more than sit on a black screen and vibrate. Can anyone help? Sorry for the new thread, but I'm desperate. Thanks for any help.
Have you tried using kies?
Pull your battery and wait a few seconds. Reinsert the battery and press the recovery combo (vol up + home + power. Release just the power button when the device vibrates and you see the blue script in the top left corner of the screen). If this gets you into stock recovery, wipe data, cache and reboot.

I've been having the same problem and have tried this method numerous times with no results. The phone simply will not boot into recovery, even after restoring to factory using Odin. It's incredibly frustrating. I'm at my wit's end.
Another person had a very similar problem last night. He was able to use kies to get the phone working. Give that a try.
Edit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45207338
It won't go into recovery at all. I'll be trying to restore with kies tonight, and I'll post results. Thanks guys.

I had the same exact problem. Someone told me to rewrite the partition table and flash but I don't know what that means and the person who suggested this failed to elucidate. It's crazy that there's no info on this situation ANYWHERE.
I've been digging, and digging, AND DIGGING, and I haven't found a solution other than JTAG and RIFFBOX. I've read good and bad things. Looks like this phone is now a paperweight. Maybe one day there'll be a not-so-ridiculous solution.
[Q] Help please !! Autostart f bootloop "Recovery Booting screen" after flashing Twrp
Long time xda lurker here,
I have just thrown my t mobile note 3 into an autostarting bootloop that i dont know how to recover from. I have successfully used this same process 4 times on 4 devices, S 3, tab 2,galaxy light and lg volt. Although this time i used mobile odin as the flash tool.
I flashed twrp to the note 3 because it didnt have any recovery at all. Ive had this phone rooted for about a year without a recovery. After flashing twrp now it constantly autostarts to the logo screen and in top left corner it says recovery booting then it restarts with the same result. Ive tried leaving the battery out for an hour but when i reinsert it, i dont even have to push power and it starts bootlooping again. I cant get in download mode, safe mode, recovery mode, anything mode. Im at a loss. Any advice, any at would be appreciated. Is there any way to fix this.

If the phone turns on by itself when you put the battery in then it's almost certainly the Power switch on the mainboard or the plastic Power button (which is what we interact with).
If that's happening on your phone the first thing to check is the case (if present), to make sure it's not pressing on the Power button.
Next would be to take the phone apart and gently pry the plastic Power button off (there's two legs that hold it in - be careful not to snap them off).
Finally, the Power switch itself - it may just be gunked up, in which case you can try compressed air or electronic contact cleaner (be sure to remove the battery first!) and exercise the switch to get it working.
Otherwise you'll have to replace the switch.
I am going to give that a look right now but it wasnt stuck before flashing twrp. Mobile odin said it was going to restart then it immediately started doing this.
Ok going to check power button now.

The power button seems to be clean on the board and its free on the case, unfortuanately that wasnt the problem.

I've had this before and in my case the Recovery is in place but the boot loop will not let you access it.
Try forcing the phone down by holding down power for >8secs. Then as soon as it goes off, press Vol Up + Home + Power to go to Recovery. If it works, Factory Reset and see if it starts.
If that doesn't work, (Factory) then try flashing a ROM from your extSD if you have one, or flash the TWRP Recovery from there.
If that doesn't work either, remove battery and as you put it back in, have Home + Vol Down + Power pressed as you push battery in - just have battery sitting ready to push in with 1 finger holding it, press the 3 buttons and push battery home. Go into DL mode and Odin a firmware. Get the TWRP .tar file from TeamWiz and flash it from Odin after the ROM. Take the tick out of 'Auto Reboot for both processes. Take phone down, restart in Recovery and flash SuperSU.
Ok journeyman16,
Trying those 1 by 1 right now. Hopefully 1 will work, thanks for reply.

Nothing stops the "recovery booting" bootloop. Although for some reason i now have to actually push the power button before the power comes on after a reinsertion of the battery. But still same bootloop. Idk getting really discouraged with this one.
By the way, I do have an ext SD card with 2 nandroid and a titanium backup but they are useless with what it's doing

That's strange. It might be a timing issue where you aren't doing the DL mode buttons quick enough. DL mode should be available if it gets far enough to try Recovery boot. Did you try having the 3 buttons pressed and holding them down before pushing the battery in? (as in Vol Down + Menu + Power) I ask because it can be awkward to do it all at once - and it takes only a split-second lift of a finger to miss the boot.

Yes i have tried it a hundred times at least, lol. I was holding the buttons then pressing it against my leg to insert the battery fully.
I dont understand it either. Im at the point of just leaving the battery out for about 8 hrs then trying again, basically a hope and a prayer situation.

After my 2 1/2 hrs of sleep i put the battery back n and it went in download mode thankfully.
Tried to start it normally but it just loops to logo without recovery booting on thr screen.
Guess i wiped it somehow with mobile odin. Idk.
Thanks for all the help.
Ill be using regular odin when i get home to restore it.

Note 3 is working better than new
As an update, I ended up putting the tweaked ROM with custom kernal on my device and it just purs along at lightning speed now. That's an absolutely wonderful ROM. I highly recommend it. Only problem is if the battery dies it goes into a bootloop but as soon as I connect the charger it boots up. Not a ROM problem I don't believe though. Oh well thanks for the help guys.
