Having problems partitioning my SD card with clockworkmod. Whenever I update my Fuax123 kernel, i try and wipe my Dalvik Cache, and get a mount mmcblk1p2 error. From searching around, I know I need to partition my SD card with clockwork, to stop this error. So, I format my SD card in android, and open CWM. I set swap 32MB, ext 512, and reboot. It says that my SD card has been mounted, just says it's partitioning, but just hangs there.
I'm using CWM 2.5.1.5 recovery, as per Fuax123 for his kernel. Rest of my phone info is in my sig.

As the title states, my SD currently runs an EXT4 partition, however after reading around on these forums not all roms support EXT4 yet and most want EXT3 in order to work properly.. Upgrading EXT is easy im using RA Recovery Image, however how do you go from an EXT4 back to an EXT3?
don't quote me on this, but i don't think you can.
Although, you can easily just format your card then partition it again
meltus is absolutely right. the easiest way to do things is as follows:
boot into recovery
perform a full nandroid+ext backup (this is just for safety, if you feel secure, dont bother)
go to the console
at console, type UTILITY
choose the "back up apps to FAT" option
return to recovery
connect your phone to your computer
mount your SD card
backup your WHOLE SD card to your computer
unmount the sd card
partition your sd card through the recovery menu or the utility menu in console.
upgrade to ext3 through recovery or console utility menu if needed (i dont remember if ra's recovery does a straight ext3 partition)
mount your sd card when the partition is done
transfer everything back onto the sd card (which will be empty after the partition)
go to the console and bring up the utility menu
choose the "restore apps to ext" option
reboot normally.
total time: 5 minutes if you dont have much on your SD card, longer if your backup is a few GB. but this will ensure a flawless backup and restore without losing and having to reinstall any apps or having to reflash anything.
Can i go about doing this simply by going back into RA Recovery and selecting Partition SD card or will it screw it up since its already originally partitioned and its not a fresh card?
For instance if you have a clean brand new SD card u can go into RA Recovery and partition your SDCard Fat32/EXT and Linux Swaps all from the recovery menu... however if you have a card thats ALREADY partitioned, can u still do it using this method to redo everything or do u have to wipe it and get it back to a clean new card again first with no partitions
How do i delete the ext2 partition made from clockwork recovery ?
Plug you card into a card reader then access teh partitions via a partitioning software, maybe use the one thats built into windows. Just delete the partitions and format card.
You can probably do it with "SD Card Formatter", google it.
Hi
Need help. I have partitioned sd card with cwm. Plugged it in computer to put rom on. It brings up the prompt to format card . I did that. But rom didnt boot up after installing. So i wiped form cwm. When i did wipe data/ factory reset it was wiping. And whilst wiping it says no apps2sd ext found. Skipping wipe of sd ext or something . Whys that?

a) Format card with SDFormatter (Full Overwrite/Size Adjustment On)
b) Partition with CWM 1GB Partition, 0MB Swap.
c) Done!
Hi all.
I was given an HD2 running CM7 off NAND. It has a 2gb SD card in there, with around 400mb as ext3/ext4 partition.
I want to swap the 2gb for an 8gb card. Having not installed the ROM myself (and am not too familar with the process on the HD2), I'm unsure how to proceed.
Are there any files on the SD card that are likely to be needed for booting?
Can I just stick the new card in, use recovery to partition it and then remove the card - copy the old ext3/ext4 partition data over and it'll be happy?
Do I need to use recovery, can I just a Linux box to do that instead?

assuming you don't have a linux pc that can read ext partitions, id do it this way..
into cwm - full backup.
2gb card into card reader (or mount usb storage in android - or 'mounts and storage - mount sd card' in cwm) - copy off your whole fat32 partition - make sure you have hidden files set to show in windows explorer.
8gb card into phone, back into cwm, create the new ext partition.
8gb card back into card reader (or mounts and storage - mount sd card in cwm) and copy the fat 32 stuff back to the card.
into cwm - restore - advanced restore - restore the sd-ext partition only.
Thanks for the reply.
I do have a Linux PC to hand, and the HD2 doesn't have CWM on it.
So in the end, I used GParted to create a partition table that looked like the existing card and then copied the contents of the old card over. Phone booted up fine
I have a problem with the device: yesterday I tried to change ROM, but after the wipe, I can not find the SD Card with the new ROM. I then tried to mount the SD Card, but I get the following error: Error mounting /sdcard!
Skipping Format...
I could then install the ROM on Intern Storage, but however I can't use the SD Card.
What I have to do? I use TWRP
