Droid 2 WEIRD battery life help - Droid 2 General

Recently got a Droid 2 R2D2, rooted, Apex1.4 flashed. Heres my question, compared to my droid X the battery is so bad. Ill start off with a full charge at 6am, and come 7pm ill be at 20%. Compared to my droid X with like 50%
GPS, BT, Wifi = off
3G = on, brightness = 20%
Maybe 30 mins of call usage a day. And 100 total texts or so.
Not sure why this phone is acting so bad.
BUT, when i originally got it and rooted it. I started off by Flashing the 2.3.20 SBF, then factory resetting before flashing the APEX Rom.
While flashing with RSDLite 4.7 it nevr said the flash succeeded. It actually said failed, but the phone rebooted automatically and loaded the Stock SBF Rom successfully so i thought it was alright. Could that somehow be affecting the performance?

Not sure, but try flashing the sbf with RSDlite 4.8 instead. Seems to work better with d2's.

I've actually got the opposite problem. I'm on fission and my dad's DX is stock blur which I think explains my situation. The DX has more battery capacity, so if everything else is equal it really does sound like a problem.

Advice on going from 2.2.2 back to 2.2.1

Hi,
ever since last week when I updated to 2.2.2, my battery life has been crap. In the half hour it takes me to get ready and drive into work, the battery goes down to 60%. with 2.2.1 it was like 98% so something is messed up.
Nothing else has changed, no new apps.
I did the froyo update manually so I sort of know the mechanics of the process but I'm just wondering if I need to go back to stock and then to froyo and then the updates or if I can just download the 2.2.1 image and update with it.
thanks,
I have the same problem :/
Obvious answer but have you tried a factory reset? I would take a stab at it before using more aggressive solutions.
Failing that you can flash a stock rom using the passimg.zip method and OTA back up but at some point you will be back on 2.2.1 and getting nagged to update to 2.2.2 again.*
*It could be that i'm using the European varient of the firmware but i've not had the best of luck flashing back to older versions (It's a long story). Suffice it to say, every method failed at some stage so i flashed a 2.2.2 stock/custom ROM instead.
I'm getting consistent 20hrs+ to 30% running CM7 nightly. Can understand wanting to keep it simply stock and CM7 is pre alpha but my battery performance is about double.

Did I understand you correctly? You could only get 10 hours of your battery on stock rom?! And is there really a positive difference in CM7 battery performance? I know that some people (including me) had problems with that on CM6 so in my eyes CM is not the most battery efficient rom. Just curious..
About OP's battery problem. My N1 no different than before 2.2.2 update. Battery life seems the same. +1 for factory reset.
Cheers!
it could be time to root and go cutom
I had the same problem
And found out that it was google syncing (which i could not fix whatever i did). I wiped everything and started again.
This fixed it, however here are some tips to get good life on the nexus.
(This worked for me and saw my nexus 1 last 1.5 - 2 days before getting to 30%)
1: goto dial pad and do the *#*#info#*#* under phone set it from WCDMA to GSM perfered
2: Always use wifi where you can, wifi uses less battery than 3G, (this was a major saving in battery power for me) Set your wifi to always on (even when the screen is off). The 2 main places you spend most of your time is at home and work, set it up for those places and you will see your battery lasting a crap load
(my battery went from a drain of 7% a hour down to 2-3% by doing this).

Still Learning About My Droid X

I appreciate all the assistance so far with my Droid X. I am beginning to get used to it more and more.
A few more questions that I am hoping someone can help with:
1) Is battery life horrendous on this device? I fully charged it yesterday and it didnt last a full day.
2) I have now rooted my X. I see references to a bootloader. Do I need to touch this at all?
3) Are there any good updated kernels available to play with?
4) Whats the impression of the leaked Gbread release? Any reason to move to it now?
Thanks,
Steve
1. Yes
2. No it is locked
3. No they cannot be flashed due to the locked bootloader
4. I have had great results with it and it is much better than froyo
Thanks for the responses.
Does the battery life get better with Gbread? If so how do you load it since we do not have an unlocked bootloader?
I have been reading about some ppl working on the bootloader, so its prolly a matter of time before someone cracks it. Not sure why Moto decided to lock the bootloader, when its unlocked on my Xoom!
Thanks I have begun the process of moving to Gbread. Clockwork is giving me some issues, but I am getting through it. Looking forward to seeing how this will run on the DX. I am coming from an Incredible, so for me the big changes are screen size and video capabilities.
I was able to drastically improve my battery life by undervolting the device with an overclocking app.
If you consider the size of the screen battery life is pretty good. I've never had a phone that last all day. There are things you can do to help. After about 8 hours im at about 40% not to bad for moderate use. But it could be better. Now some roms can give you better battle life.

Funny coming from a Dinc and you think the DX battery life is bad Anyway yes GB is a bit better on the battery and works very nice. Other things to do is either lower your screen brightness or turn it on auto. Freezing bloat and services you don't use (facebook feeds ect.) with Titanium Backup will have an impact too. Keeping live widgets to a minimum will help too. Use WiFi when you can and keep it turned off when not using it to stop the phone from pinging for it every minute helps. Using GPS hammers the battery but it can be left on since it only runs when an app calls for it. Same go for surfing the 'net, battery killer.
I can get 24 hours of life using my phone pretty hard but I have run out of battery at the end of the day if I really hammer on it. I keep my plugged in most of the day at work which helps get me through a heavy night of use.

For me battery life was only an issue when I first got my DX. After I disabled all the bloat and got a good over clock/undervolt app (jrummy's), the battery life was better on 2.2 then the Dinc and Fascinate that are floating around my house. And once I updated to Gingerbread, the battery life became amazing, I can sit eight hours in an area with horrendous signal and have about half battery life left with moderate use. But results vary....

This is all excellent info all. Thanks for taking the time out to assist. Once I had SetCPU installed on my Incredible I was able to get much better battery results. I am going to begin working with this again.
One thing I noticed is that I set the DX to shut the screen off after 2 mins, but it doesnt seem to shut off. Anyone seeing that issue too?
to those of you saying battery life sucks on the DX, dont ever switch to another phone (ie Thunderbolt). I made the move and my Tbolt died three times in a single day. My DX used to last me a day an a half (running Apex rom). The DX is actually really, really good compared to other smartphones with a 4.3in screen.

How are you enjoying your Droid 2?

I've had my Droid 2 since about last November and I completely love it. I rooted after about 2 months of ownership, and never went back. A first (disasterous) attempt to flash CM7 nightlies that forced me to sbf turned me away from ROMing for awhile, but since then I've fun liberty 2.01 and 2.08 (gb based), Liquid Smooth ROM (battery life wasn't good enough for me), and I'm currently running ApeX, which I love. I'm overclocked to 1.15 ulv, use setcpu for profiles, and running a good amount of tasker profiles.
I was just wondering if anyone else had any good/bad expieriences and wanted to share? Any favorite ROM? Tale of woe?

I've had mine about a year now and I've totally loved it. It was my first Android/smartphone and I'm so glad I went with the Droid 2. Rooted when 1 click was available and rocked Fission for the longest. CM7 is doing be good for about 1 month now and will probably stick with it.
How's the battery life on CM7? Because I used Liquid smooth for awhile (cm7 based)and it sucked

It's still in the beta phase and supposedly there is a battery fix, but I haven't applied the new update since it was bootlooping. I have a extended battery and my battery life normally lasts 30 hrs.
i have my droid since September (almost a year!) its a good phone i rooted it with z4root. i never changed a rom b/c it erases all the data. but i really hate the restarted and the low battery life.
I've had my Droid 2 for 10 months and though it runs fantastic there are some minor annoyances.
Ive had my phone since october of last year. I got it for a single penny during amazons holiday sale. I love the phone its quite nice for how much I payed. I rooted with z4root and use many rooted apps. I hadn't tried other roms because of the locked bootloader. It just makes it kinda pointless to me without being able to have a custom kernel.
The stock rom isnt to bad once you get a few progs to spice up the ui.
I use many Go products.
The launcher, the messenger, calender widget. For battery life I use batterydefender beta which took me from like 6 hours tops idling to like 12+ so im cool with that. Great phone.
The GB leak and roms based off of it is great, id reccomend highly.

My phone takes.forever to boot and gets bad battery life.

My Droid X with Justice v0.1 ROM has been getting terrible battery life for a long time. I've been having to charge it multiple times a day. Also, my phone takes around 3-5 minutes to boot up. It has been doing it since I was running the Liberty GB nightlies. I don't overclock my phone unless I'm playing a big game, so that's temporary. I have like 145 apps installed on my phone. Any help is appreciated. I can answer any other questions also. Thanks.

I would recommend uninstalling the applications that you don't use and that aren't a necessity. Try wiping your cache.
Also, the rom that you're on might get substantially worse battery life than others, I recommend SBFing and trying a new rom, such as MIUI or DarkslideX. You could use stock Gingerbread, since it gets great battery life.

Battery Question/Suggestion??

So I have the Atrix 4G and I am running AOKP_Milestone_6_Atrix_TMT_2 on it. I also have a Droid X stock (just use it to play pandora over wifi).
So my question is this, when I use a battery on my Atrix it drains pretty quick in a matter of a few hours (3-4) im down to 50%% however when I put this same battery into the Droid X it says 80%. So whats going on? What should do?
Its the same battery I just wanted to see what it would do on the Droid X so thats why I put it in there. So it went from 50% on the Atrix to 80% on the Droid X. Suggestions?
