I used TiBa to move over my SMS logs from my Captivate but it seems that the text app wont load because ive run out of memory. When i look in settings>memory, it shows over 10 GB free. any ideas how to fix this?
looks like the max SMS history is 999 messages, any way to circumvent?
i'm having the same problem..i want to save all of my sms messages but it limited to 999. is there anyway to fix that? either apps or hack?
I use sms backup... Saves a copy of all sms messages to gmail... Easily grouped in conversation mode...no reason to keep them all on your phone anymore...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Legitimately curious question, but would you ever need/want to go beyond 999 SMS?
I'll bet other sms apps like handcent will work great

I use two apps for contacts and sms. For contacts I use PocketCM and for sms I use VITO sms chat. Well the problem is they both offer threaded sms but it doesn’t seem to be working for me. I can see what is sent to me but not what I am sending out. Sounds sort of stupid to be worried about that but that is why I wanted these programs was so I could see what I just sent out seems pretty vital to me. If anyone can help with this that would be amazing! Or if anyone knows of a better sms program in which I can thread the messages please do tell.
have your "save sent items enabled "
I've recently installed Android on my HD2 and I absolutely love it. The one thing that isn't working 100% is the SMS inbox. Some messages appear 3-4 times and some are nowhere to be seen. Those are SMS I sent and received after installing so it's not a dodgy import. I'm using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are you talking about SMS or message in box of your xda account or your google mail inbox account? You don't call a text message as message inbox. Anything with message inbox that's an email. SMS is to use texting to send to another phone. MMS is to use picture or a short video clip to send to another phone.
My bad. In my own little world messages are SMS. Yesterday's SMS all seem to have been stored correctly. Maybe it was a one off. If anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

I can recommend using GO SMS Pro as opposed to the stock one, much better.
I've played around some more and installed Go SMS Pro, which is pretty cool. The problem with wrong SMS display persists though.
I think it's when I send SMS via the voice command of the google bar, they don't get stored correctly when I look at them in the history. For example I just sent a message via voice command but the content of the messages in Go SMS is wrong. It shows up with the same message text as the previous SMS I sent, or not at all. I haven't found anything on the problem anywhere. Does anybody have any Suggestions?
Anybody try any app which you can hide private texts like vegas sms and go sms pro etc but you can still use the AOD(always on display) and show the icon for new texts that cane in. I guess it needs to still use the native app in order to work. Looked in the store there are so many apps don't want to try them all.
And can be backed up by sms backup and restore
When I add another sms application to my Samsung S8 plus the messages I have sent do not appear in the new sms app. I only see the messages I received and I have gone in and made the new sms application the default app. I have tried using Google and Textra for sms with same results. Odd issue but I saw someone else posting about this on a different forum.
Anyone know why the messages I have sent are not showing up when trying to use a different sms application?
My Moto X pure (on At&t) just updated to 7.0 and the messaging app changed to android messages. I can't figure out how to set the text limit, also are these messages now saving to the cloud ? If so how many messages does it save ?
deleted
Stock app is now Android Messages by Google, not an AOSP app... It does not store messages to the cloud at all, and it doesn't have the ability to set message limits that I have found. If you want more control I would suggest trying an alternative message app like Textra SMS or something similar.
So how many messages are stored before they are deleted ?

Umm unlimited? If you do want to backup to the cloud and use Android messages, checkout an SMS backup and restore app on the play store.
