AOSP Rom's that don't have significant bugs - Droid Incredible General

Even the 6.1 CM had some pretty major bugs (trackball mainly) that is preventing me from switching.
Does anyone know of an AOSP ROM that is stable?
I'm looking to get rid of the HTC framework but can't find an AOSP ROM without a bunch of bugs.

I've been using CM7 nightlies and I don't have any bugs that I've found. Even if you using RC1 there aren't any major bugs there. The only thing I can think of is that you may have to set your wifi sleep policy to never when using wifi or you may get phone reboots. I can't remember if that was fixed in RC1 or not, but it's dependent on kernels, so you may have no problems depending on which one you use.

I can recommend UltimateDroid as a bug-free AOSP ROM.
Similarly, Ruby.
The UD version I prefer is 2.5, as the 3.x version(s) are gingerbread-based.

CM7 is absolutely phenomenal so far. I didn't encounter anything out of the ordinary when using it.
I just can't get enough of sense lol

[SOLVED] Best fast and stable ROM right now?

Hi, I'm looking for the best fast and stable ROM right now.
Cyanogen is definitely not on the list. Since he started mixing in eclair (and stopped releasing separate stable and bet builds) all his releases have really been beta-releases, and not stable one. Especially the missed SMS/background process bug disqualifies it on its own, and it is aslo slower(!) than the eclair roms, t.e.x OpenEclair.
Eclair builds are also not on the list. Right now I want something that "just work", and until video camera and video playback is working (eg. when we get drivers) I will keep testing them , but want something different for everyday use.
It is important that it has a serious dev who listens to bug reports (an issue tracker would be a big plus), and builds from source, or at least tests properly, and not some new (or old) hotshot who just slaps different stuff from different sources together and hope they work.
So, anyone have a favorite you think suits me?
edit: A good chabgelog/specification of what is actually in the ROM is *mandatory*. I really hate looking at a ROM thread and wondering "And wtf is in this?"
Post in Q&A section next time, and try Dwang's ROM I haven't used it yet, but people that have used it say it's fast.
Why should this be in Q&A instead of general? (Almost) Every thread in general is a question about something or the other.
Try WG-Build 2.6 for a day or so.
theofficials, or the vodafone port with htc features (15th feb version) imo are the fastest, although blandest
This discussion is pointless and it keeps repeating over an over again.
Anyway, my two cents: CM is and will be the best ROM because it has a right balance of speed vs stability. I've tried other "super-fast" ROMs and they all are too unstable - shut downs randomly, force closes, etc.
fasttest without ramhack without issues and force close s. What else would you want
anything that starts with fast or super.....are a +1
after that the only thing that can fall in category would be:
WG Build Y-2.6 (as mentioned above)
and if you can get your hands on a copy Wg's 10.2 is great!
As far as the CM roms go....I'd suggest his older builds 4.2.7.1 and 4.3 to be exact...their outdated but still wonderful, you can port any new apps or framework into if ya don't want to feel left behind.
Super D is blazing fast for me
FastTest v2.7 CustomLite (http://bit.ly/dcLg31)
and
FastClean 1.4 (http://bit.ly/ahf8Gy)
The fastest/most responsive ROMs I've ever used. FastTest is a dark themed SuperD and FastClean is a vanilla rom, both are the same speed IMO.
I was a cyan fan but super D is just stupid fast. I push my home key and my home screen is there within 1/2 a second.

+1.
100% agreed.
The only balance between speed and stability in CM is that it is both unstable and slow. Take a look at this bug for example. Many of the issues that were caused by and consollidated into this bug goes way back.
A stable ROM doesn't loose loads of text and other notifications. CM is not stable, nor has it been since cyanogen started mixing in eclair, and stopped release separate stable and beta builds.
All his builds since then has been laggy and unstable - unless you have a N1, which development effort is currently, and fully understandably, consentrated upon. Seriously, just stop recomending it to anyone. For all the good cyanogen has brought G1 users, his ROM is currently, or at least up until january when I last tried it a POS. And it showed no signs of getting better, either.
Many thanks for the tip about TheOfficials ROMs. Running the ADP based with expansion pack now. It flies, and has been 100% stable th 24hrs I've used it so far. Abduction lags a bit when I run Spotify at the same time and syncing kicks in, but thats to be expected on a Dream.
Will have this as a solid, reliable fallback, eve though I will still probably try other (like the latest OE when they fix BT.)
Thanks for the other tips as well.

THe fastest Cyan is 4.2.5 and the current ones are slower than that, I don't use Cyan much I prefer Super-D and Enom's official too.I only used Cyan twice and probably won't be using it again on the Magic, maybe on the N1 though.
im using SuperD, and it is crazy fast. most responsive android rom ever used.
Mghty Max ROM
I'm running Mghty Max's ROM and is very fast and stable I've tried. I haven't had any FC or shutdowns. Very responsive too (I have activated these widgets: calendar, clock & weather, WiFi OnOff, Music, Handcent SMS, Volume Control), even when I'm on WiFi. I Highly recommend it.

Same here... i was a staunch CM flasher... but they seemed to get slow after he got the Nexus One.
I'm happy with SuperD right now... especially with the JIT hack.

[Q] Various ROM testing: Daily stable builds

By "stable" I mean something that is used for more than a month as a daily work horse build. I've tested various roms trying to settle on ROM that I use for daily use. My requirements are thus: Decent battery life, no lag, full functionality, of course.
So, rom flashing/testing aside, which ROM do you folks seem to settle on when you aren't testing and want a daily work horse rom? I just can't settle on one for one reason or another. If it's not battery, it's lag or both. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a phone of this age, at this point. Last rom I used for the longest time was froydvillain before I started messing with the GB roms.
I dunno, what say you?
VR 13 works very well.
Maybe a GB ROM like Cronos would be good?

Vr13 is the 2.1 rom based on the WWE update, ya? Perhaps that one is best since it's based on official HTC release. Pity they never did a 2.2 update.
That's the one. I know, it would've been since.
2.1 repacked by elelinux or Cronos Ginger 2.2.3 this become update frequently by Feeyo
Cronos GB is a good choice indeed.
The Elelinux rom is very stable, I had some force closes with Villain ROM 13, and also with the Modaco one, no force close with Elelinux (base on Android 2.3.4).
If you don't want your phone to be laggy, try adw launcher with that (the faster I've used, even though I prefer Go launcher), don't use too many widget etc, keep it simple.
Cronos is indeed good, although he has recently moved away from CM sources. so that means you wouldn't get the set of Cyanogen specific enhancements. It will be pure AOSP + whatever modifications he made.

Hero GSM rom

Hello everyone,
I am the unhappy owner of an HTC hero which is performing far toooo slow.
I decided to move from my original 2.1.1 to cyanogenmod 7.1 a few months ago, it was good, but far too slow. I kept it for good 2 months before eventually decided to give some other roms a go.
So i switched to chronos 2.4.4, far quicker than cyanogenmod, but still crawling..
My biggest problem is maps and waze, they are too slow to be useful...
chronos has shown to be also unstable, with the bluetooth causing lots of FC and phone going unresponsive for seconds...
Now, im fed up again.
I woudn't mind to go for android 2.1 or 2.2 i do not really need 2.3.3..
So i was wondering which rom to put on my hero.
Any suggestion?
It sounds like Vanilla Eclair is the ROM you want! It is old, but by far the fastest Rom out there
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
Heroine ++ is a 2.1 sense rom and is very fast
Decked_X is a 2.3 aosp rom which is similar to cm7 but a lot better in my opinion and is possibly the fastest and most stable gingerbread rom you'll find
You could also try Elelinux's Speedmachine V5 which is a 2.2 rom. Its based on cm6. Its my current rom and seems stable and fast. I haven't tried many 2.2 roms so there may be something better out there but this one seems good to me

Unfortunately there is no fully working sense 2. 2 Rom. Camera issues. Still would love to see one though but hardly any development going on these days
at the moment im trying the heroine
quite snappy compared to chronos and cyanogenmod
battery seems a bit weak, 12 hours life more or less...
lets see how it goes
Try the new nightly off the thread of Pure CM 7.2 RC0 KANG ROM.. Speedwise I think it's better than decked. I mean comparing this to heroine, it sure is a tight one. Give it a shot you won't be disappointed.
I've just started using [ROM][2.3.7] LiGux (Coopoui) (RC2.0 - 01/12/2012)[Port] which is fast enough for me and before that the speedmachine rom which was also quick. I think what you might need to do is use an older version of your software rather than expect the rom to pick up the slack. The problem I see is that the maps etc is newer and slower on our older phones. So for the best combination why not get an older rom and an older version of your software (ex maps) and not update them?
At the moment the battery issues are fixed and the rom is going pretty well
quick and snappy it has its hiccups from time to time but i think is mainly because new version of apps software should be called bloatwares instead.
unless the phone starts to crawl again I will stay with this rom..

Looking for a stable ROM

Currently my Fascinate is on the default samsung 2.3.5 rom. I'd be plenty happy with it as im rooted and i have a MIUI launcher added, it's not as fast at actually running MIUI but i get great battery life and all the sensors work.... but then again i havent taken the plunge yet and installed any new roms yet. THe default rom has absolutely poor gps performance, and i know it can be improved as the vibrant i had before this phone had weaker reception yet with the proper driver was able to work great(samsungs default rom also was a big stinker on the vibrant).
that is why I'm here.
Im looking for the most bug free rom i can find, one that has working GPS.. i dont care if it is gingerbread or ICS, actually if drivers and stability are an issue, then i would guess that gingerbread will be more stable as it had official support... on the vibrant the lack of offical support made it very difficult to get stable roms. sensor drivers had to be hacked and made from scratch so things like the compass never seemed to work.
Please post your recomendations below, and where i can download... If your idea of a stable rom is one that has bad battery life, no compass, hacked buggy sensors ect... move on...
AOKP with Glitch kernel. The only thing that is not working properly is text message delivery reports. Everything else is great including all sensors (with latest fixes in glitch). Probably you will also need script for datadata partition moving (if you have lot of apps installed).
you'll get better battery life on superclean 2 gb as opposed to ICS AOKP/Glitch, not sure how GPS is on SC 2 though
I just put AOKP build 29 on my phone. super awsome man. I liked that the best out of all the roms i tried. looks great and way better than any other UI.
The SuperClean GB Rom +KGB Kernel is the most stable and fully working in my opinion. The CM9's are very good but still a little buggy.

IMO no more buggy than any GB ROM. Unless you are a mez it show user. I'm still working on some little bugs there.

Exactly...eh03/ei20 roms have just as many minor bugs as anything ICS. I use my i500 daily and I need it to work. AOKP 29 bigmem w/ glitch is the setup I roll with. The random reboots, poor memory management, plus ****ty Touch Wiz is enough to keep me away from anything TW GB.
If I were still on a GB ROM I was very happy with TSM Resurrection 2.2 with KGB voodoo kernal. Im on a glitched AOKP b29 right now and I like it I ran into a few bugs but nothing big and its to be expected. What I like about the gummy ROM was the audio for me at least was sooooo much better but AOKP was much snappier and had smoother transitions IMO.

Most stable Desire Z ROM?

Hi
Currently Im on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 nightly 414 and while OK, the other day it had a HORRIBLE (unbearable) slowdown period. Even multiple restarts didnt help. Finally it seems it fixed itself but Ive looking for something new. I use Go Launcher if that makes any difference. Im into speed but I think Im going to go with stable over speed this time.
What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)
If you are into Sense UI, go for Virtuous ROM, stock ROM tweaked + enhancements. If CM7 works if you are into vanilla ROMs.
I have been using virtuous glite 2.0.1 its stable I had no issues at all and I get great battery life, plus its slightly overclocked. Gslim1.6 is also very good but I had better battery life with glite. Both roms are based on GB 2.3.4. Here is a good rom index thread it lists all G2-Desire Z roms

Yes, Im aware of the list but I wanted user feedback.
(Im not talking to any of you or anyone else Dont take this the wrong way at all as it is not a insult to any of you). Its funny: People ***** (a lot) when their ROMs go bad but when they are great, they dont say anything at all.
WOW G-lite is VERY old...
and i like ROMs with features; stripped down versions are not for me
sound like you will be most happy with elitemod, the cm7 based rom although i have been testing out nik3r's ics rom and like it better than most ics roms, i would go with his gingerbread rom. should be all you are looking for and great support from nik3r as well

Damn I'm still happily running it! If it works great why worry how old it is. It's a testament to how well it works as it sits. anyways I'm waiting for a stable cyanogen 9. Then maybe, frankly I don't want to mess with it too much I want plain Android and I can customize it from there

I don't think you have tried much of the Sense ROMs back then, or maybe you were doing something wrong. I have had quite a few stable and fast sense ROMs. Of course they were not as fast as vanilla ones, but it works, knowing that you are the type who wants more features in ROMs.

Have you tried a CM9 Rom lately? Don't let the Beta name scare you, I have found the latest andromadus audacity extremely reliable, and everything works. I actually think it has less bugs then my stock htc GB rom.

Same, though I'm still tweaking my SetCPU settings and such, I like EliteMod's ICS rom the most right now particularly in terms of features and responsiveness. I was trying the unofficial CM9beta13 for a couple days and that thing was eating battery like no-body's business. EliteMod seems to be much more tweaked as it's the same setup Nik3r is using for his own personal Desire-Z.
But far as stability goes, I would agree that going with a Ginger rom would be the best bet, ICS right now is still too experimental in my opinion.
I've never tried the CM7 version of EliteMod, only the official CM 7.2.0 which was ok-ish for me. The EliteMod ICS Rom to me feels much faster and responsive than even the stock CM7rom, and I much prefer QuickPix app the EliteMod uses over that slow-arse Gallery app in CM7.
I would recommend andromadus mimicry (ics) its pretty stable and everything works (for me at least). It has the ics specific flaws like scrambled text in app drawer but launcher restart fixes it. Using this rom for 2 weeks and had this text issue 1 time. Battery is good also
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk 2
You should try Elitemod cm7 it has never failed me, all the features you need, speed and stabiity plus amaizing battery life. If you wanna go ICS get the cm9 elitemod, but it is still a bit buggy.
I tried a lot of roms, and I always came back to ILWT CM7 (not new versions). Sense roms are quite good but not on Desire Z (too small amount of ram memory, multitasking on sense roms are poor - even on sense 2.1 roms with supercharger script). I waiting for stable CM9 (and yes i tried all versions of CM9 but text glitches and manually change apn to send/receives mms, makes me nervous).
That is only my subjective opinion
Anything CM7 based is very stable. Probably the most stable of all. Stay away from CM9 or anything ICS on this phone for another few months in terms of stability.

Going to install the Beta14 right now, the ALPHA 1 month ago had a lot of issues... but that was 1 month ago. Will post back...
Try Quadrasense! Not true that rom based on CM9 is not stable....
Quadrasense is very fast and stable
inviato da HTC Desire Z
For most stable overall rom I would recommend the latest ILWT CM7. For most stable ICS rom I would recommend the Andromadus Mimicry rom.
