one way or another we'll get gingerbread.... CM definetely (and with them getting closer to 4G, it wont a no go for some ppl)
But I'm pretty sure we'll get it from HTC

Did you not see the Bootable GB build posted two days ago? About five threads below yours. Basically, it's not a "hope" situation. While the Dev build is not a reliable everyday driver, it does work and for it to be bootable and fairly functional in less then 48 hours from release bodes well for a stable ROM coming very soon.

How exactly will 2.3 work on my rooted phone? Will I need to find a ROM that is Gingerbread based?

dude, this is not a waste of time, we were all not sure if at all this was going to b officially put out and this confirms it, this is huge news, stop trolling my post, all i am doing is putting HUGE news at least for me in a section where i know it can go noticed and has to do with Android development...Like i mentioned if a mod feels for some reason its inappropriate to have this here, move it

Well when you think about it..of course we were getting gingerbread. HTC hasn't pushed any new hardware out in forever...they have new phones coming out but they're not gonna wait until those release before they get into the gingerbread game. If they were to overlook all current devices then people would just be like "bluh bluh their being just like Samsung bluh bluh." That's the last thing HTC wants, you think they dont know that one reason why people go to their devices instead of Samsung's is because of their support and on time updates? They scrap gingerbread for all current devices, then that just leaves hardware and Samsung's hardware is pretty damn impressive, makes choosing HTC over Samsung look kinda stupid.

Cyanogenmod 7 - WIMAX WORKS!

Just flashed the nightly cm_supersonic_full-8.zip along with gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip. The 4G, GPS, and it everthing else is are so far working fine.
It is still considered an alpha build, but it might be interesting to look into.

Wimax has been working for a while now.

It's under 3 weeks since the CM team got a hold of a S2, another week or so would be a conservative guess (At least for a alpha/beta build). I loved CM7 on my Nexus One but would really prefer if TW was an option somehow on the S2 version. I've got used to it and don't fancy using adw/lp. However from memory the CM team don't include proprietary code/apks.

If you want it so badly, make it yourself. Otherwise just be patient and respectful like the rest of us.
It will look just the same as it is on other devices. You can photoshop the image yourself if you really want to know how it looks like.

Well then this belongs in general...just giving you a heads up. You can only start threads in dev. sections if you are the developer actively developing. They are fairly strict about it here.

Is it possible than to go easily back to android ?

It has not been released, the source has not been released either. The OP is not developing it.
