What's your data usage so far this month? - EVO Shift 4G General

I just checked with the sprint app and it was 1.8gb. I didn't know I took that much but then again I never looked.

131MB since the 19th when my new month started.

My billing cycle starts on the 23rd

180MB since Feb 5th. I am actually surprised since that is all from my commute to and from work. Otherwise, I am on wifi.

1.9 gigs since the 10th

Only 948MB since the 5th, 1 hour of light tethering(IRC & IMing)
Normally when I tether, I jump a gig or two a night.

Current Stock

It seems this has been a very high demand phone, maybe HTC messed up and didn't produce enough?
What ever the reason lots of people are currently finding that the various mobile phones operaters (for me O2, Tmobile and Vodafone) currently struggling to get stock in.
I thought it a good idea if we can share information on which companies have stock, when and ETAs?
I can confirm vodafone UK has said by the 12th Dec! although they then said that it is not garanteed, the phone is universally in demand.
Voda got some in today (no idea how many though) - got my despatch notice (yay!). I did an online order on the 16th, so I suspect whatever comes in between now and the 12th will be used to clear their massive backlog.

Funny enough i just got my order confirmation a minute ago as well!! They say business customers get priority.
T-Mobile let me do a pre order and sent it out once they had it in stock (which was the next day).
Saves you calling them all the time.
Very glad T-Mobile havent messed around too much.
mobiles have it in stock now
http://www.mobiles.co.uk/htc-touch-hd2.html
Vodafone sent my despatch notification earlier too.
This was after telling me that I would have to wait till the 12th.
I think the threat of staying with O2 gave them a kick up the ar*e.
Does anybody know when the next T-Mobile stock is in, I ordered yesterday and need the phone for the 17th because I am going to New York
The stock situation may be slightly planned. As this is such a new phone, with new sofware (OS and the HTC own touchFlo) they probably wanted to release it to a small market to reduce the number of people affected with minor bugs, as not all bugs can be found in testing (trust me as i'm a developer).
I can pretty much grauntee that when they release the hotfixes for the initial issues (and install then on the roms on existing stock) then there will not longer be an issue.
How long that will be is another question, I would prob suggest as its been out now for 2 weeks then it will be at least another 2-4 weeks prior to being able to get the fixes in, and passed testing again.
I recieved an email from T-Mobile today saying that they have shipped it so i presume they have stock now
o2 are telling me they have a "reasonably firm" expectation of it hitting their shelves on the 7th of December
me too had email yesterday from tmobile saying its on its way, should be with me within 2 days yaaaaaaaaaay!!.... possibly 1 more sleep LOL

Great news mate, nice isn't it!!
What sort of price plans are tmobile offering?
I'm on voda and think i got a pretty good deal. However it is on an 18mth contract (prefer 12!!)
900mins
Unlimited Text
Unlimited Data
Unlimited Land line calls
£35 incl VAT 18mnth contract.
Took some husseling though.
I got it on t-mob from mobilephonesdirect (although it's stock, with the case and unlocked). £103 up front, £30 cashback via topcashback, 12 month contract, £34/month including internet.
18monthers are cheaper per month, but the resale price tends to nosedive after a year or so.

Sprint ripping me off

I bought the EVO 4G in the 25th of June and got my first bill today. I was charged $152.53, which seems very high based on the plan and services i signed up for when i bought my phone. Im on the everything data plan for 69.99, with the $10 add-on for 4g, $7 for insurance, and$ 4.99 for the spending limit program. That totals $91.98 plus i get a 10% discount. I called to ask why my bill is so high and the customer service rep told me because i was charged for the period of june 13 - july 13 and also prorated charges from june 25th - july 13. I understand the prorated charges, but is it normal for sprint to charge you a whole month in addition to your actual usage in advance? I didn't even own the phone on the 13th of june. I feel ripped off
yes usually your first bill its always a lil weird, but after that everything should be good!!!
I got my phone on the 28th of June, have the same plan as you, and was charged around $150. I was charged for the previous month and the activation charge. I'm a little put-off by Sprint at this point. One thing I appreciated about T-Mobile was their excellent customer service. I was never hit with these outrageous charges before. Not to mention Sprint says it will be at least 2 months before my government discount kicks in.
My bill is still around $99 after fees and taxes

What is happening is you have to pay a month in advance, i think all cell phone companies do that now. So you have the pro-rated month, plus the next full month in your first bill. Then any activation fees, plus as said the discounts take up to 2 months for them to kick in.
Simply all carriers do that. They bill you in advance. T-mobile does that, AT&T does that, Verizon does that. Also remember it's almost $40 just for the activation fee. Your next month's bill will look better.
yeah they charge one month in advance, which is normal for all carriers; however, the thing that irritated me was the prorated charge; why not just start the billing cycle for whenever the line was activated; luckily i ordered mine on June 9th and it the billing cycle started on June 12 or 13; they still charged me like $19 in prorated amount, which i got them to credit me once i found out that they started charging me even though i did not have the lines activated; i ordered through their website on the 9th and didn't activate the phones until June 12th, when i received the phones; however, they started charging me from June 9th, even though no phones were activated or anything
I did a lovely contract transfer a year ago, no start-up fee's just started paying the monthly. my bill was a little wonky the first month from the evo but it's normal again.
Just received the 2nd month bill. 4 lines (2 Evos & 2 Blackberries) 1500 minutes and it comes to $170.
Anyway, Sprint is not trying to give me the Save50 promo credit. The chat agent said they have no record of it. But I have screen capture that shows a total of $200 credit ($50 credit per line). I am already hating dealing with Sprint so many times.
I'm having second thoughts about my switch to Sprint. To me nothing can justify having to pay what's essentially twice in a month. A full month for a period starting at a date I didn't even own the phone, and then a prorated charge. That's a huge disappointment for me. I already dislike the way business is conducted at Sprint. Thankfully I have until the 25th under the 30 day guarantee. The EVO is a great phone, but the 30fps cap and horrible lag in addition to the bill are making me lean towards leaving Sprint

No, that's not how it works.
You pay a prorated charge for the period from the date of activation until the start of the next billing cycle.
After that, you pay the next billing cycle in advance. It's a one-time thing and it's quite reasonable, logical and easily justified. If you're somehow being charged something different you've got a customer service issue that needs to be remedied. I anticipate that you don't, though.
You get charged a prorated amount the first bill. That is why you always discuss what will be on the first bill with customer service.
Now that you know...sit back, relax and enjoy the Sprint party
If you decide to leave however, please don't start another "I hate Sprint because..."thread. To many people have started those already and the funny thing is, the majority of the time it is their own-doing!
Yeah, the first bill is prorated from the time you sign up, until the monthly billing date, then you pay the coming month's fees. It's a little bit strange, but not bad. Basically, you're always paying for the next month of service, not the last month of service.
go ahead and switch to tmobile, att, or verizon, and the same thing will happen to you...

I'm rooted and running 53fps. I really wish people would stop bringing up the 30fps cap unless they're willing to do the research to fix it (with or without HTC's help).
And the horrible lag? Are you referring to the screen lag, i.e. the fps issue?
i got my evo june 6 and my first bill was 135
second bill which i still have like 18 days to pay is 185! ><, but thats because i had to claim a "new" phone via asurion .. shattered screen ><
so im guessing my regular bills will be around 80 cuz i got charged 2 months of Total protection since i added it half month on july one for 5 one for 7.
ohh and i have discount around 20% i believe

T-mobile does not do that. They might make you put extra money down if you have bad credit, but the first bill will be the right amount + activation. I was told my first bill would be prorated, something around $25 + activation, not $150. To me, that is a ludicrous amount to charge someone straight out without telling them that is about what they will be charged.
i stand corrected with tmobile then. sprint told me 1023 times that my first bill would be prorated + next month so I knew what I was getting.
Yes its normal, but remember if/when you leave sprint you all ways gey money back because youve paid in advance.

Their reps go over it with you in store and via phone. I'm surprised it came as such a shock, they should have gone over it.
I personally don't mind it, since it means when I do leave Sprint (eventually) I'll get money back for the remaining time I didn't use the service, rather than send them a final payment/bill, possible fake "late" charges, etc.

ATT is screwing me on data? Capped!

Okay first of all, I would consider myself a light-average data user. About 1 GB average or less on my T-mobile unlimited before using my ATT line as my primary. Most of the time I'm on Wifi at home or at work.
I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
I surf the internet usually when I'm on lunch.
I never use my phone on my way to work, a 1 hour commute. I do not have auto update on any of my apps in the market.
Well, my billing cycle started on the 11th of this month. 8 days later on the 19th, I get a message saying i'm approaching the top 5 percent, and I will be capped if I keep it up. Next day I am capped on the 20th. My data speeds went from 7-8mbps down to .12-.15mbps, making the data plan basically useless.
I looked at my data usage when I got home and found out that apparently I've been using 500mb of data on random days at around 7ish AM in the morning. at 7AM I'm in my car on the way to work, how the hell am I transfering half a gig of data on my way to work? I NEVER use Pandora, Slacker, Netfix or any other data intensive app.
The real kicker is this morning checked my data usage again, and this time I used 250mb of data again yesterday morning at 7:25 AM. I have not touched my phone yesterday morning since I was asleep till noon recovering from my Chinese New Year hangover. Also how am I suppose to use 250mb of data when I'm capped at .12-.15mbps, It would probably take me all day to transfer that much data!
I'm going to call ATT later on my lunch break, I'm hoping it's just a mistake in the computer system and not somebody stealing my bandwidth? Is it even possible to steal someone's cell phone data bandwidth?
How am I supposed to approach ATT with this matter, it's basically their word against mine.
Use this app to find what is using the data

Anyone else believe the bandwidth reported by Project FI on the Nexus 6P?

I've only been using the phone since Thursday. It's just after midnight.. so Sunday morning. I don't work weekends, so Thursday and Friday I was at work (on their WiFi).
I've surfed the web probably, used Google Maps (maybe), checked email, and watched a few videos on YouTube.. I'm already up to 770MB of my 1GB data? In basically 3 days time? So by that estimate if I were to do what I've been doing I'll be at 7.7GB usage in 30 days time?
When I was on Sprint I'd do whatever the hell I wanted pretty much and I came in always under 3GB per month.
Did you receive an update? If you just got it out of the box it probably updated Android and apps, were you on wifi at the time? Also, youtube eats data.
go to settings > data usage
it will show you what is using data...
I've been on Project Fi for about a week and the bandwidth usage that the Project Fi app reports is in line with what the Android "Data usage" graph shows. I'm almost always on Wi-Fi, so I've only used about 180MB of cellular data so far.
I'd have to say you need to look at the data usage graph in depth in the settings, as stated above, and check the per app usage.
I'm on Fi and have add no discrepancies with the data usage.
I don't think I can look at bandwidth the other way through Android settings. Because when I rooted all that data went bye bye. Project FI app reports 843MB (says .84GB and shows the blue line getting close to my 1GB Plan green line) roughly and the Data Usage thing in settings shows 78.99MB.

I was on WiFi the minute I set up my phone. I didn't even have a sim card when I set it up and received the January OTA.
I got the phone Wednesday night. I set it up when I got home on WiFi. Thursday the sim card came and I plugged it in. I was already on work WiFi.
I used to use YouTube all the time on my HTC One M8. Sometimes half hour at a time. My commute to work is 1 hour roughly.
So I went out to get lunch today and coffee. I didn't use my phone. I came home and did laundry, used my PC, used the bathroom, made dinner, and yes played one Android game. I've had the phone charging for awhile now, not using it. I did have YouTube on while I was doing laundry.
I can confirm I am on my WiFi because well it says so and a speed test gets me over 100Mbps.
Out of nowhere just now I get a warning message from FI saying I used .99GB of data (.993GB if I open up advanced).
I find it hard to believe in 4 days I used 1GB. I'm no longer on Sprint, but I can log in and see my last 3 bills. Jan bill 2.24GB, Dec bill 1.7GB, Nov 2.3GB.
With Project FI I'm on target to do 7GB this month unless I shut off data.
I am totally fine with paying if I use 2GB or even 3GB data, because I've never gone higher than that, I just find it hard to believe I'll end up with 7GB.
I may leave already.
I found a service that uses Sprint only, but for $30 I get 3GB LTE/3G data, unlimited calling and texts.
If I want to go cheaper it's $19.99 for the above, but with 2GB data instead.
Actually for $10 bucks a month I can get 1.5GB data and 1000 minutes and texts.

It clears it but going forward it will show that data, unless you install a new ROM.
Sorry. I didn't want to post the name until I read more on it.
ringplus.net. Uses Sprint network. When people call you instead of hearing some kind of ringback tone, they here an advertisement. Plans start as little as free, but require you to top up a certain amount in case you go over. When your top up balance is $0 they bill you the top up amount again.
They have paid plans also. $12.99 gets you unlimited talk, text, and 1GB data.
People say there's a little delay in talking.. I'm wondering if it's the same experience as when I was on Sprint. Because Sprint itself was fine for me. A few spots along my hour long commute to work where I did not get data, but no big deal.

If you are consistently on WIFI, I highly recommend set that up. My first month I used .2gb, my second month I was out of WIFI range for a week and racked up .6gb. I'm on WIFI at home and work all the time, also with lower cellular signal, so doing airplane mode with wifi on saves a lot of battery as well!
When I got the .99GB notice yesterday from Project FI I turned off Cellular Data.
Today I get a notification that I've used 1.013GB and I am .13 cents over.
I am guessing FI is slow at updating it's usage stats and informing you about your usage.
It shows nothing for today, and a tiny bit for yesterday. So this overage must actually be from yesterday and they're just now informing me that I am over.
Did you call or chat with someone from Fi to see if they can help you get to the bottom of all the data use and charges? They might also be able to find an issue you can't easily diagnose and might even grant you a free 1GB or something because of it. I've had great success speaking with them.

Any Verizon users that have Comcast

Word is they will be allowing us to bring our own devices in Q3 or Q4.
No line fees for first 5 and 12$ a gig shared or 45 unlimited per line.
Since I RARELY use my 2Gb Verizon quota I can see my phone bill dropping in half easily.
I don't see the unlimited at 45 being a good deal if you've got more than one line but maybe I miss some details. After 20Gb the speed gets throttled to 1.5 down /768.

Hmmm... I wonder if they really will do BYOD since the service relies HEAVILY on Comcast APs. If they do, I might switch from Mint to Xfinity Mobile when my year is up in February because I'm almost always at home so the 12/mo would be fine for me. The question is how much they tack on in fees... I've got Mint - prepaid 12 months, T-Mobile MVNO, 167 bucks with tax (they were having a 20% off sale, it was normally 199 but they just dropped it to 180 now), unlimited everything, 2GB LTE - $13.91 a month. I'll have to wait and see how heavily it uses WiFi. WiFi handoff doesn't exist so if it forces WiFi calling, its out for me. I don't even use VoLTE because its just not as stable.
