Original from Rogers... Havent installed any ROMs because this problem showed up!
If you can access the recovery image, you can flash any ROM that you want. That Rogers original ROM must not be rooted, so you have not root access.

Oh ok. I was scared I wouldnt be able to flash to another ROM cuz this applications were telling me I had no root access even when I rooted already.
But wait, if i flash my Rogers Magic, wont I have bluetooth isues and market issues and all of that?

Depends on the rom new hero roms shouldn't have any BT issues but some have problems with protected apps from the market. But just find a rom you like and read what issues the rom might have and find one there cover your needs.
Thanks a lot for ur help

[Q] Rooting my wifes Wildfire? wtf?

Hi,
I have been trying to root my wifes phone so that I can install CM7 (as she has been nagging me that her Wildfire is slow).
I freed up some time tonight but cannot seem to root her phone using unrevoked?
I have tried several methods, however the futhest I seem to have gotten is unrevoked telling me: "Error:failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?"
Any advise as to how I root the phone?

There are zillions of them.
Search for posts that explain how to downgrade to 2.2.1, and execute Gfree from there.

There is no easy way as in a one click root... If you search... most of the methods discussed here depend on which version of the hboot and if you OTA or not.. but they all lead to the same rooting method...
1. Downgrade your version
2. root
3 . flash with any custom rom or the official rooted rom

The unlockr has a nifty guide that takes you through everything. Yes, it isn't short. And yes, there were points I got stuck and searched for answers (most were in the comments to that page) but it's possible.

This is NOT news I want to hear. Now I'm really considering using my phone for a fishing weight. If we can't ever directly root 2.3.4 on this thing I'm done.
Then you're done.
