Does anyone know what the voltage out is for usb on the laptop dock?
I'm trying to figure out if it will run a Gumstix board...
Thanks

Hi I'd like to know whats the USB pin layout on the O2 Atom as my mini USB plug fell off and I'm trying to solder it back to gather.
So far i manage to get it charging again but I cant get data through it.
Also I wonder if anyone can tell me how to make a USB charging cable so that i can plug it into the PC and charge without activesync(without using WM5storage, just plug and charge) or I can charge via car charger(I know this can be done with a special adaptor but I'd like to make my own)
Help is very much appreciated Thx.
well i suppose that no one really know about it so if possible for those who already have thier Atoms opened up, take a high ress pic of the USB plug showing the pins and post it for me.
thx

Switch off the device (remove battery) and use PC to charge , thats the only way

actually i have a cable(which came with a universal battery pack) that allows me to do what i want but its in a bad shape hence I'd like to make another.
usb is pretty much usb htc's carry audio too but people report that normal miniusb in 1 end and usb in the other works just fine
and any device connected to usb's 5volt and ground get power even if the pc dont see it as a usb device it still provide 5volt and 0.5amps to them
thats how usb cup wamers and plastic dogs humping the usb port works
See here @ Wikipedia for details on pin-outs
This may seem like a really stupid question, but has anyone tried/succeeded in seeing if this device can charge off USB? That is really the only thing I dislike about it now that I have Dexter, I travel a lot and hauling an extra charger is just a pain.
What about charging thru the docking port if we had a usb cable to fit it?
im sure docking port would work, as it does work with folio100 as example.
but usb charge, is probably a no-go, i guess hardware needs to be redesigned to enable usb charging although kernel does allow you to enable it, but again, maybe a pin of the chip needs to attach to another location on board to enable it.
on folio100 it did not work.. and without kernel source to try changing/enabling it we dont know if it would work..
and remember the port is host/device based, so it might also be it only works when in device mode, which also means travellers would not be able to attach anything if they charge it.. so might be conflicting interests on how it should work. (if it worked)
Thanks for the reply.
I know I've seen this question asked elsewhere, but not for a while. You mentioned the docking port, have we seen ANYTHING that connects to it? even if not a full docking station, a cable to connect via USB to a computer.
Or has anyone figured out a pin map that someone could cobble together a cable
I can see from some old threads that the basic charging dock doesn't have USB out. Is this also the case for the one with speakers, it says it has HDMI passthrough, but doesn't mention USB?
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks!
No
Unfortunately the speaker dock does not have a USB port.
The charger is absolute CRAP. 3 feet long and cant be powered by usb? WTF?
Any idea how I can fix this? Longer one or a adapter or something? Id prefer to charge from my laptop/desktop
anything from bestbuy? need a fix asap
Yeah, no idea why it's so short... really annoying. you could try an extension cable?

Oh, btw, you CAN charge via USB, but it's just reaaaaally slow. If you use the tab while plugged in, you might not even gain charge... just slow it down. The battery in the 10.1 requires much higher amperage than USB can provide.
Just an FYI. A regular USB 2.0 extension cable wouldn't work with the Transformer (which also has a short data cable). USB 3.0 extension cables reportedly worked though.
Hi,
I have a few questions regarding the extra functionality available through the USB adapter that I would be grateful if someone could answer. I really like the look of this device but am unsure about a few things.
1) Does the USB adapter (30pin to USB) allow charging at the same time?
2) Does anybody know if there is a docking station that will provide USB & HDMI out. It would be nice to use this device, attach a harddrive and output to a TV.
Thank you for your time!

i suppose it might be possible if you were to use a multi usb port adapter with the usb adapter. I am not really sure if that will work though.
I talked with Samsung support today asking if the USB dongle could be attached to a regular USB cable for charging and they said yes.
