Few things, it looks as only 3 of the 7 models are up first.. the 4GB at $399, the 32GB at $599, and the 64GB at $699. True multi-touch this time, for all of you
Also, they look to be debuting with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and not Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).
Still the hardware is top notch... I am sure the developers here will have fun with it..

I think they can't sell devices with Android 3.0
Google approved sellings to Motorola Xoom and T-MOBILE G-Slate. Then top companies will go. Other companies must wait till May or June

I had to go back and look at the press material I received at CES 2011 about the eLocity A10. It actually does state that it would be released with Froyo and upgraded to Honeycomb once it is made available to them....
I agree that Motorola and LG seem have been working with Google awhile on Honeycomb and will be the first out of the gate with Honeycomb tablets, then we will see it available on the lesser known brands.

I am watching this one VERY closely
I have two requirements for my next tablet - a Tegra 2 CPU (or better) and an IPS screen. So this one sounds like it fits the bill, assuming it doesn't get delayed into the summer.
I'm tempted by true multi-touch and IPS, but I really like the 7" form factor. It fits in my coat(s) pocket and I can thumb type like a madman. I would like a bigger screen, but you can't have it both ways.
I don't get the 10" form factor. Everybody I know who owns an iPad bought a case that you can prop it up with. I asked why and the answer was it's it's too heavy/akward to hold in one hand and you need to set it down to type on it.
I say don't try to compete with Apple in the 10" range, make an 12" version (8.5 x 11?) and include the prop case with it! To me once it doesn't fit in your pocket and it's too heavy to hold, you really just have a touch screen laptop. It seems that is what every iPad owner I know is turning their's into.

My guess will be in customers hands before the end of March...
I think they would be wise to make sure this is the case.

Now that Motorola Xoom is priced at $799 and I am sure the LG G-Slate will sell for more with its 3D screen and cameras I am sure people wont mind waiting a few months to have Honeycomb on a nice dual-core unit with a 10inch IPS multi-touch screen with the highest resolution on the market.

Yep. I just notice, that over "approve sellings" i mean Android 3.0 out-of-box.
Google can't deny other companies sell tablets with Android 2.2 and it's a good trick to start sellings before top-companies will go. And promise upgrade, like Notion Ink did.
If Stream TV Network will sell new tablets when Motorla will start Xoom's sellings - people will get choice:
Tablet with 2.2 today for 400$ and upgrade in future
or
Tablet with 3.0 today for 800$
Good business struggle - satisfied customers

Google's Android love and hate!
Funny you mentioned the 3.0 release.
I can see things a couple ways. Like Apple Google wants people to see their OS on a device that can actually use it so they are working with those companies to do so. I can understand they want people to get a good user experience and therefore are pushing to the best retail partners. It helps them and helps the companies by having a release before anyone else.
What I do not understand is the price point. I mean I can get a really nice laptop with a quad core, good graphics, huge hda, etc for $800 so why would I buy a tablet that will do a lot of what I want but not as much as I can with a real pc. Since the masses really only know iPad then wouldn't it make sense to start with 3.0 at a price slightly less than Apple? Offer better equipment or at least just as good and sell for a little less. That way when people try it they will be more apt to buying it. As it is now I paid $300 for my a7 and I could have gotten a Apple iPad for $429 refurb which I think is a really fair price for the unit with its hardware plus a feature rich environment and apps galore and Apples OS is very good. Now comes the xoom for $800??? What. I mean if Honeycomb had been out for a year or so and it was a proven OS with features Apple does not have then I could see it but really they should have at least come in around $500. Personally for me I had a hard time justifying my purchase above $300. I wanted a device I could use to replace a mp3 player with additional features. I already have a laptop and desktop so there is no need for the tab except I do need a portable media player and that is where the A7 and its size fit so nicely.
Add to all of this the system that Google has which is very confusing for a consumer who does not know much about android and not having regular updates from Google but through the manufacturer is a horrid choice!! I think Microsoft got one thing right and that is update the OS without manufacturer involvement. I mean any other OS, MS, Apple, Linux all update their os's independent of what machine it is installed on. Then because Google does not have any control the manufacturers will put out what ever version of Android they have slap it on the device and sell it and if you want a new os you have to buy a new tablet??? Apple iPad does not do this. I can get ios 4.2 for free. This is the same way it should work for Android. Instead you have a huge array of devices for sale all running different versions of Android some of which are outdated before they even start selling.
Because of this situation and the fact Honeycomb seems impossible for the a7 I was seriously thinking of a net book. I mean I can get a 250gb hda, 1.6 ghz 455 atom processor, 1 gb ram, incredible screen for $29 more than my elocity and it will have a full OS with a full browser, not a mobile version, and I can do a lot with it. I could install honeycomb on the netbook!! I did it on my laptop before. I could also install Linux which would run nice and have all I need. Problem again is portability. Netbooks are much better than laptops but not as convenient as the tablet and I find the touch screen interface more intuitive. I think as time goes by it will be the future. However, as things are now with Android and not having it on a phone but strictly for tabs the experience is not what I thought it would be. For a linux based os I do not have much control and that is not good.
Just my 2 cents
Robert
I completely understand the "why not just get a netbook / laptop" argument.
But I think tablets have / will sell for a variety of reasons. Part of it is the "cool" factor, having the latest and greatest. And partly because tablets can do things that laptops cannot (I am in the latter category).
Example for myself: I use my R10 for reading comics -- it easily beats a netbook / laptop in this one function. It's relatively fast, its got great battery life, it's light, generates very little heat and has a better screen. The netbook/laptop kills the R10 in other areas, but it all depends on what you want to use your device for.

Agree totally on this.. Also. People forget unsubsidized cell phones cost $400-$600. Mobile parts are not the same as laptop etc which are much cheaper. Right now even tablets are relying on mobile components. These prices will come down over the next year just as other electronics do. And margin on Laptops/netbooks is horrible. With a new product like tablets companies don't think they need to sacrifice margin yet as these are a "geek" product and we geeks are willing to pay to have the latest and greatest.
The cool factor is a part of it also, and the bleeding technology factor.. I don't think $799 is overpriced for the Xoom, but I do wish it would have started at around $599...
If the eLocity A10 shines, then the $399 price tag will be amazing.. I think StreamTV has learned alot from the A7 release and I am confident they wish to put out a product that will really be a great value.

I happened to be on the J&R website today when, to my surprise, the pre-orders for the A10 opened up!
I bought mine right there - shipped, the cost is $439 - and of course no clear indication when I'll actually get it. Still, the timeline seems firm now, and hopefully I'll see my unit in a few weeks.
Just checked out jr.com and it is there for preorder, but it does not say ips screen. The res is higher than gtab or xoom though. Other than the screen res, it is very similar to gtab. Can someone confirm the screen? is it a ips screen?
It has a sim card slot? can we ue a sim card like tmoblie to make calls or data?
thanks in advance.

The CES models had an IPS screen. Everything I've read (so far) mentions an IPS screen. Of course that could have changed, but I guess we'll find out soon.
I'm also not sure if all models will have a SIM slot, so J&R's info could be faulty.
EDIT: From the source, here you go: http://www.elocitynow.com/docs/pr_2011_0204.pdf
It's an IPS screen.
Yes. As the press release says it has an IPS screen.
Now, about the SIM card slot. In the materials I go at CES 2011, it said they would have one, but no mention is made in the press release. I am going to find out on this one.
About JR.com preorder. The device is supposed to be $399 for the pre-order. So they are charging about $30 more. But also, it wasnt supposed to go live until Feb. 15th. I wonder if the price will drop then.

I doubt the price will drop, but I hope I'm wrong...tho' I myself sprang for the $439 tag.
B&H Photo lists it at $428 plus shipping, so it seems the pre-launch buzz was off.

I guess no real surprises. Still disappointed the wifi model has no micro SD. So I had to go ahead and spend the extra $100 and get the 32GB model.
I don't normally pre-order. I tend to like taking my chances at Best Buy or something, so I can have it in my hands the same day. But I have a feeling this thing is going to be crazy popular.
Full 1080p playback? I have not had this experience at all.
I tried the default movie player, rock media player, and Vplayer and none of them have played either of my HD files that I put on it in 720p. Especially confusing considering they are advertising the 3.0 with it when I'm in hopes of 3.1 improving the performance.

I would assume that either they already filled their pre-order amount, or something was delayed causing it to be retracted. Anyone order something and receive a notice?
Tried searching for model number and generic search with no findings.

Hmmm... very odd. I'm going to press my luck and hope that Best Buy in my area has plenty in stock. Still though, curious as to why they pulled it from their site.
So I just rechecked my order and it is there now. So maybe the whole system went down when they pulled it off their order page. Not sure. But it is there now.

I'd understand Amazon but why Best Buy?
Sometimes they do pre-orders like with the iPad 2 or cell phones like the Evo 3D. I'm hoping they do a pre-order otherwise we will have people buying and reselling like these idiots on Craigslist. Ship to store or pick up at store works great in situations like this.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Has anyone spotted any sensible pre-order sites in the UK? There are a couple showing up in Google but with greatly over inflated asking prices.
If the Galaxy Tab 10.1 32GB 3G version is quoted as $599.00, then that currently equates to the UK price being £369.66. I really hope that's right, but alas we usually pay way over what the price 'should be'. I hope we get confirmation of the UK price very soon!
Fingers crossed.
It doesn't work like that. If something costs $X in USA, it usually costs around $1.5X in UK or around X-100 or so pounds in UK. And what costs X in UK costs X euros in Europe and X swiss francs in Switzerland.
Expect the 32 gb 10.1 to be around 500 pounds in UK, if not more!
Just got home from PC World in York with my new Galaxy Tab 10.1, I have to say that I love the look and feel of it compared to the Transformer that I returned a while back.
I was undecided about going for 16GB or waiting for the 32GB version, but after some thought I opted for the 16GB unit. I've got myself on the Google Music Beta so that's sorted, I may load on a few movies for trips etc but that won't be that often really. I don't think the storage limitations will me a major issue for me.
I'm aware that Kal-el is in the pipeline but this dual core should suit my needs, email, browsing and such. When Kal-el hits the streets, then we'll have to see what effect that has on the dual core tablets resale value, but I'm a little happier knowing that I've spent £399 as opposed to almost £500 for the 32GB or 3G models soon to be released. Hopefully I won't take too much of a loss if I decide to go for a newer Quad core next year.
A question, I don't see a charging led, is there one?
quick question mate - do you have a full 16gb spare? or is some taken with the android OS and apps etc? i have the 32gb on order and was thinking to the get the 16gb..

I haven't actually set it up yet, it's switched off but on charge, thought it might be quicker to charge it that way? The demo unit in PC World had 12GB spare though if that helps. I remember the TF was about the same after being set up.

It's not exactly the same, as the developer one has added sensors. Nobody is fully sure which ones will or won't be on the released product yet, but it's looking like at the very least NFC is unlikely to make it to that.
Might be IN STOCK. Not entirely sure, but you can order it.
Samsung - Tablet with 64GB Memory - Black
----
Update:
Probably(?) not in stock, at the BestBuy store they show stock due in on 10 Nov 2011. I doubt the website has stock - just my opinion.
I planned to buy Samsung slate.. It'll be good to use??
I bought one yesterday from the Microsoft Store. I saw a few others buying them, too. Honestly I don't know how they're selling. Windows 7 is horrible to use on a touch-only computer. I knew this though since I have a convertible tablet PC and it's a pain to use it in tablet mode if I'm not writing notes.
CompUSA lists this:
Samsung XE700T1A-A03US Series 7 Slate Tablet PC - Intel Core i5-2467M 1.60GHz, 4GB DDR3, 128GB SSD, 11.6" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Docking Station, Bluetooth Keyboard
I think it might *not* include the dock & keyboard, because it might be a mistake. Funny.
The Microsoft Store has the dock in stock separately, and lists the dock separately with the tablet during purchase. Also, they sell with Windows 7 Professional, and show 11/11 as shipping date. I think this is safer.
The price is outrageous!
As the title says, check the December issue of Consumer Reports. Tab S and Tab Pro both got a score of 86. IPad mini 83, Nexus 7 81. However, the CR Best Buys are the Amazon Kindle (78) and EVGA tegra Note 7 (78) as they were at least $100 cheaper then either Tab S or Pro.
I'd choose Pro over S because AMOLED is too warm (4300k vs 5700k) and AMOLED is prone to burn.
You'd probably find a OnePlus One easier than a Galaxy Pro Tab these days..
Man, I picked up my PRO for $250 at Best Buy and they had plenty still in stock. At $250, this is absolutely a steal.

Bought mine last week when I returned the Nexus 9 I had been trying out.
Lots of stock both black and white in the Naples store.
This might mean we will see a further price drop and with my bill saying returns now can be made until Jan 15th 2015 I guess that gives us a price match until Jan 15th as per their policy.
"If we lower our price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request."
Not sure if Black Friday would count anyone know?
Bought mine this week for 249 euros in France.
Upgrading from Note 8 running the excellent SlimKat ROM.
489 euros for the Nexus 9 32gb was way too pricey
379 euros for Z3 Compact 32gb was pricey too, and there isn't a lot of dev on Sony's Tablets, even if they are good.
Galaxy Tab S was an option but Exynos/3gb vs Snapdragon 800/2gb... Snapdragon wins, sorry for AMOLED

Confirmed the Tab pro 8.4 is on sale black friday for $199.99 with Best Buy also some other Samsung tablets
http://blackfriday.bestbuy.com/?category=doorbusters5&filter=&brand=Samsung
I have found out that they don't price match to Black Friday deals, some purchasers however who bought in the last week get until Jan 15th to return so its a case of buying another one and return it with your previous bill to save $50.00
Tab Pro 8.4 availability
I bought mine in Greece on Jun 2014 for 250€.
It is now available and stocked (at least in 15 stores) starting from 210.99€ (checked today, Nov 12)
I envy the Tab S's 3GB of memory though ...

It's hardly to tell the difference between 2GB and 3GB RAM except you open a lot of app at a time.
Tab Pro 8.4 design is based on Note 3 except cam and RAM, but CPU stays the same (same results as Antutu and Quadrant).

I picked mine up a few days ago from the Sarasota store
Just got one myself at Best Buy for $199... happy so far.
Got mine this morning from best buy in the villages. Sold my gpad for $180 and got this for $199, not to bad if I say so myself.
Picked up a brand-new Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 from Craig's List over the weekend for $170. The guy had posted it for $250, but after I pointed out that these are now on sale at Best Buy for $199 and I'd have very little reason to buy from him, he was quick to go down in price and I was able to get it down to $170. This tablet is a steal at that price! I replaced my 32GB Nexus 7 (2013) with this, and so far I've been very, very impressed. Fabulous screen and fast performance. This thing rocks! I really like a physical home button. The Nexus 7 lacks that, which I never got used to. Also, I actually kinda like the Touchwiz layer. It adds a lot of useful features. Plus I picked up a 64GB micro SD card on Cyber Monday for $25 for extra storage, also something that you can't do with the Nexus 7. I sold my Nexus 7 for just about what I paid for my Galaxy Tab Pro, so that's been a great swap!

Man yall got a good deal!!!
i bought my GTPro 8.4 last Friday for 229, and thought I got it for a steal 9I mean i did, but that extra 30 left in my pocket would be nice LOL
Just trying to find some good theme setups now from Zooper & such. So far, happy with it!
Hi guys. I got an 8.4 at the BB $199 for Xmas. I am likely to return it unless someone can explain how to overcome my issues 1. Portrait mode the thumb activates the side app launcher and fonts are too small in the browser plus the bezels are too small. My complaints are standard I'm sure. I will likely return this and order a cube talk 9x 9.7 unless someone can show me how to use this
Please

1. If you pull down from the top of your screen, swipe the little circles (Wi-Fi, location, sound, etc.) to the left until you see the multi window option. Click on it to turn it off. Now the side bar will not pop open.
2. Download Boat Browser for Tablet from the play store. In the settings, look at the page content setting. Then click on text scaling and set the font to a comfortable size. (There are a lot of features that make Boat Browser one of my favorites)
I personally like the smaller bezel and the 8.4 screen size. This tablet is a great deal for the price. Don't give up on it!
Thanks k8108
It seems so many sites do not respond to the browser settings. Even navigation bar suggestions use the sites' font. Any other options to use in this case e.g. bibliotecapleyades.net? That is very annoying. I'm coming from the 9.7 inch retina screen
I may keep plugging away with the 8.4 pro and resell on eBay if I can't adjust. I do like the single handed operability. The screen is bluish to me so I am running the blue filter app to warm it up
The multi window option is very convienent but lacks customizability. I may go with another ROM
Enjoy yours. And thanks!

In boat browser with my text scaling at 150%, I am able to read articles from the site you mentioned with no problem. I am also able to pinch zoom in on the page with all the links to see it better. Play with the settings to see what suits you.
If you root this tablet you can install the exposed framework which has a multi window module that let's you add any apps you want to the multi window function. I use it all the time.
I think the more you play with the features this tablet had to offer, the more it will grow on you
Yeah these fonts are getting to me. I mostly use apps not browser and they don't offer many option for text xposed framework has a mod to customize app scaling so when I figure out how to root the tab I'll try that
