Hi! I tried importing my gmail contacts into my hd2, all the names are there alright, but no numbers are saved on any of them. Is there anything I need to do first so all the contacts and details get imported?
My contacts came from my first gen iPhone. The contacts appear just fine on my gmail account, but after importing them to the HD2 all I have are names.
I'd appreciate any help you guys can extend me. Thanks!
Oh and my phone keeps on freezing whenever texts arrive. Sucky.
Sorry if this is the forum for this. I finally transfered my phone contacts to google contacts. I went to vzw, exported to .csv, and imported to gmail. So far so good. I deleted mt contacts from my phone, and synced my google contacts. All good there. I accidentally deleted a couple of contacts off of my phone, but they are still in gmail. How do I get them back onto my phone. I know with backup assistant I can retrieve and resync them to the phone, but don't have the foggiest how to do it with gmail. Thanks for the help.
Menu/settings/accounts & sync
Q&A would of been better suited for general questions.

I tried that but it didn't add it back to the phone. I went back to gmail and it seems they were removed from there as well. Is that normal, if you remove it from the phone it also gets removed from gmail contacts list? How can I delete a contact from the phone without deleting it from gmail?
Login to gmail from your pc, you can choose which you want to sync or make a list.

Hello,
I'm having duplicate contacts on my phone. Can anyone help?
I'm getting 2 contacts for everything. Looks like the phone is creating multiple contacts, Is it possible to avoid this (rather than stop syncing with fb and gtalk)
thanks
Maybe it's showing your google contacts and your phone contacts, or your phone and sim contacts, have a look in your settings in the contacts screen, and make sure you only have one of the settings ticked.
Also if you are importing to gmail account, you can use gmail to remove duplicate contacts.
It all depends where the contacts come from.
If you go into the gmail web version on a computer and look up the contacts and there are duplicates - then delete the duplicates and sync.
If the duplicate contacts are stored on the SIM - then either delete them or choose the option not to view them.
If the duplicate contacts are stored on the phone (but do not sync with gmail) - I would just delete them (you could always back them up with KIES on the computer).
If the duplicate contacts come from different applications (gmail, facebook, etc) then you just 'link' them. This way gmail will sync only with the gamil contacts and Facebook will only sync with the facebook contacts but most importantly you only see a single contact with all the info from both souces in it.
Related question.
Is there any way to backup and restore linked contacts when you do a full wipe and restore? Titanium Backup doesn't seem to like doing this, and linking them again really annoys me.
Any ideas?
Rooted KF, I want to setup contacts to sync with google using the contact sync adapter. I read that the contacts should be cleared out first so they don't duplicate with google. Is there an easy way to delete all the contacts? I tried deleting contacts cache and data and that didn't work.
THANKS

Nevermind, I am good... I did a little trick, when started the contacts on the kf syncing with google contacts I did get the duplicates in GC. Then I accessed GC over the web and did a restore to an hour ago, when the kf synched again the duplicates are all gone.

What you are saying is confusing to understand. Maybe you should try and do a better effort in explaining your problem ?
Sorry for that. He had some contacts on his phone and he wanted to format his phone. Phone contacts have an option "move device contacts to google" so we did that, supposed that they moved into his gmail account. After formatting phone contacts dissapeared not just from phone but also from his google gmail account on computer !! Can we recover them ?
Ok now I understand. I had the same issue on my fathers phone and I couldn't recover them. I think its a bug. After reflashing the phone we had to type each contact into phone on his Gmail account.
So unless they where stored on Gmail account to start with you are screwed as that stupid copy from phone memory to Gmail account bug hasn't been sorted out yet.
Bad news, ok mate thanks. If anyone else have some solution on this please help, all his work was on that phone contacts.
