so being a little fed up with windows mobile and a little discouraged with my last unsuccessful flashing experience (tethering is how I roll) im looking for a fully functional or mostly functional version of linux for my Herald. I've searched everywhere I can think of, is that pretty much the end of the road? would a linux rom that works on another similar phone work on mine? which phone is most similar? if linux isn't available, how long should I wait?
THANKS!
Cheers
Stivan
Have a lokk in "Developement and Hacking" thread. there are several linux threads. BUT nothing impressive....
Wait on google android!

I am definately interested in a herald linux port.
Linux on Herald Here!!!
Here is a gentoo image compatible with the Herald. Built for the Wizard, but works fine on my Wing. Only issues being no sound support and screen is shifted to the right a little, but touchscreen and SD card are working. Keyboard mapping is a little off though, but easy enough to figure out.
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/gentoo/embedded/55281
For those who don't want to read the whole thread...
http://tinderbox.dev.gentoo.org/embedded/linwizard/gizard-20080527.tar.bz2
Extract to root of storage card, and run Haret.exe Login as root, blank password. Use startx to get desktop if you want.
Enjoy
Hey guys, I tried it too but I get a white screen...
you kick ass..If I could just get the source code...

I don't even know you, but I love you!
You are awesome. Thank you so damn much.
Linux was my only reason for buying a wing!
The obvious problems I see are as follows:
no sound
screen does not adjust when slid out
no phone program
not sure if it can get on the edge network
directional button does not work
the telephone buttons dont appear to respond nor do the subkeys around the green and red phone buttons
it's gentoo [I kid, this isn't really a problem ]
the keypad does not seem to map correctly to qwerty-us
cap and alt are lit and are inaccessible
usb port may or may not work.. did not check
other then that KICKASS
This is by no means a complaint list.
I am a programmer, I do know c and I have messed around inside the
internals of the linux kernel before.
My motivation to resolve as many of the above issues is very high right now.
I was almost ready to give up on this phone.
Again... THANK YOU!!!
Did you take the entire gizard folder and drop it into the top level directory of your sd card?
after you do that, reboot your phone. Then run the haret program.

You must have a different LCD panel, and the power GPIO settings may
be different. Look and compare the wizard and artemis wiki pages about
omap gpios.
Herald is very similar to Wiazrd (artemis has a very different setup), but
obviously there are still some differences.

touchscreen broken
so in order to install gentoo onto linux i have to install within windows mobile i guess. problem is, my touchscreen is broken and it wont let me get past the setup wizard and the screen calibration. when the touchscreen broke, for some reason i thought that reseting my phone might fix it, maybe some sort of glitch or something. is there any way to get past this? is there any other way to install gentoo without having to put it on the memory card first?

waiting......
as for the broken touch screen, just create a file named welcome.not and place it in the root of the micro sd card. restart the unit. it'sjust an empty file. it has worked for me four times already. it bypasses the touch screen setup. as for linux. I would love to try it.
Thank You Thank You So Much!
donepate you are so awesome! this is by far probably one of the most useful (albeit basic) tips ive ever read! thank you so much my herald has been dead for about a year and in its place was a Samsung SGH-639. BLAH! YAY! HERALD IS BACK! HELL YEAAAAAH!
has anyone got this to work completely keyboard, screen flipping and everything?
I have a Hermes (Orange SPV 3100 but unlocked). The phone has stopped working but everything else is fine.
I've tried putting other sim cards into it, cleaned all the sim contacts etc with no success at all. As far as it's concerned, there is no valid connection. Phone and data connections don't work. All the Windows settings and programs run fine, it's just the phone that doesn't so I have a pda without a phone! I wasn't trying to flash a rom - the op system is all as original except for the unlock.
I don't think it's worth enough to pay for a professional repair so any suggestions for tracing and curing the problem and hints as to whether its likely to be a faulty connection, faulty parts or software problem?
Thanks.
I have the exact same phone, and similar problem. The difference is my phone is not completely unusable, it sometimes works for a while and sometimes doesnt.
I have just - 10 mins ago - flashed a new radio rom to see if it helps and so far (10 minutes!), so good. But I will need to leave it for a couple of days to see if it works properly.
Is there an "X" beside the signal icon? Also have you checked the Comm Manager and disable the phone and enable it again?
Ah well I didnt need to leave it for a couple of days, its not working again even with new radio rom.
Ive tried new o/s, new bootloader and new radio but still the same problem, nothing else to try really ?
(btw: Mine usually has an exclaimation mark next to signal strength.)
Carthief When did the problem first start occurring? Did you flash a radio/OS ROM and it started to happen, or did it just happen out of the blue?
Sorry I did not see this post...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562486
I don't know dude. Maybe one of the senior members can help out.

I will check tomorrow. I am using a different phone at the moment and have left the Hermes at the office.
Hi Shawn, yeah that post covers when my phones problem started - I hadnt flashed anything recently when it started messing up.
I've tried tonight;

Problem 5:
METHOD 1
But I didn't flash the patched radio.
Phone is working at the moment... I'll update if it is still working or not tomorrow, if its still working maybe Batxda could try it out as well

Update:

Phone worked all night, and this morning, but froze up this afternoon and needed rebooting. It's currently working ... but probably not for long! My battery is running out very fast as well.

Hi again. Yes, there is an "x" beside the signal icon (normally meaning that phone is turned off) and also beside the connectivity icon (two horiz arrows and a "x" meaning no active connection). Also, I've just noticed that both of those icons no longer respond to stylus taps. All the other icons do.
I've tried turning the phone on via Setup > Connections > Comms and Setup > Personal > phone. Neither work, in fact, they do not respond at all.
I haven't tried the cure that Carthief tried but then, I've never flashed any roms on this phone either. I am apprehensive about that because I haven't done it before so, if that's the solution, I would need to find a free evening and do lots of reading.
BTW, the unlocking was done ages ago professionally, not by me.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Maybe I missed it but I did not see any mention of your doing a Hard Reset. (I assume you have tried soft resets) In general if the problem persists after this it rules out most software issues. I also think it's worth a try because of your comment about the icon being unresponsive.
Mike
Mike
I had done a hard reset but, just to be sure, I've just done it again. After the first it locked up at the password screen so I did a few more. Next, I let the Orange config run through. With the third, I removed the battery before Orange it did its thing. Both the same - no active phone but no lock-up either.
Icons on top bar still not active and x's against them.
When I go to settings > Personal > Comms, the phone icon is highlighted and appears to be "on" (no "x") but the top bar icons still show that it isn't. When the comms phone icon is clicked, the cross appears and the phone is, presumably, turned off and can't be turned on again.
When I go to settings > Personal > Phone, it says that the phone is off, would I like to turn it on. Click yes but it doesn't work.
BTW, I'm using an O2 sim card which works perfectly in a NIKI (touch dual).
I hope this is a software not hardware problem. Is there any point in flashing a new radio or complete windows rom? If so, which one would you recommend (it's a minefield for one of little brain)
Many thanks.
B
I did think you might already have tried a hard reset. In general that tends to point towards hardware, BUT corruption of the ROMs can occur. Unfortunately that is not my area of expertise. Hopefully someone will recommend something here. You could always look on http://www.mrvanx.org/thg/ making sure you have Hardspl installed.
Mike
Hi all, my phone is still not working completely but it does seem to be staying alive for longer periods now.
I have just downloaded the latest (from Oct. 2007) software upgrade from Orange for the Hermes - I think it is windows mobile 5, not sure yet. I cant install it tonight but Im going to try that tommorow.
I downloaded the Orange update but it wouldn't load on my phone. all I got was an error message which said it was the wrong rom for the phone. I don't know whether that's because I've had it unlocked or maybe my rom is newer than the update. anyway, I'm no further forward.
I've just noticed that, in Settings > Device Information, it is blank against the radio version and the Protocol version and that there is no IMEI listed either. I guess that means the radio is corrupted so I will try installing a new one. It is op version 14.123.1.614 and ROM version 1.23.61.4. Which radio is recommended.
What does the missing IMEI number mean or is that also connected with the missing radio?
B
Hi Batxda, I dont know which radio to recommend, mine is Radio version: 1.47.30.10 and ROM version: 3.54.255.3
My phone has now been working for over 24hrs, battery has stayed charged as well... so I haven't installed the Orange rom yet.
I bought a new phone having pretty much given up on this one... and now it seems to be working again!
Nope. Not working. Ran for over 48hrs but locked/froze up today with calls going straight to answerphone, battery drained from 70% to 20% in about two hours as well!
My last attempt is going to be running the phone with no memory card in, and no sim card with phone disabled. Will report back.
Have you had any luck Batxda ?

Sorry to hear that. I've had different but similarly unsuccessful times. I hope your experiment goes well.
I flashed with HardSPL (SPL-2.10.Olipro) then tried to flash a Radio.
1st I tried v 1.11.00.00 running from the PC. It froze so I had to unplug it. That messed everything up and I ended up with it stuck on the bootloader screen (Type 2a) so I used mtty and found that command "set 16 0" worked so I could return to WM5.
2nd I tried to flash radio v 1.47.00.10 from the SD card. It started OK, got to about 20% and stopped. That was at 11:15. Its now 13:30, 2.25 hours later and it hasn't moved in that time. I am going to have to stop it but I'm sure it will end up corrupted again.
H E L P anybody, how can I flash a radio to this damned thing?
BTW, it is a Hermes 100.
B
Batxda when I reflashed a new radio I just followed the guide here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/thg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=26
It sounds like you've gone through the same procedure as me so you've probably already followed that guide...
I don't know what to suggest, but if it was me, and the radio wouldn't flash, I would (being a bit dim ) try it a few more times until I was exhausted...
I've just rebooted mine to see if I could provoke it to do anything with no sim/memory cards in. It gets to the password entry screen and tells me I've entered the wrong password but I know its the right password !! Does anyone know where/how these phones store the password ?

I have a AT&T 8525 Hermes that was having No GSM issues.
I'm not sure if both of you seen the No GSM message when booting the phone (when it was bootable) & if you did, here's what I did to get the phone working again.
I removed the battery & pressed hard against the back stainless steel plate especially around the area near the battery contacts. It worked for mine & the No GSM issue would go away. If it happened again, then I repeat the same procedure & it works again.
My conclusion is that the GSM chip has broken or loose contacts with the motherboard so as long as the contacts is good, that keeps the radio working. BTW, this phone was dropped before & after that, this issue started happening.
Lastly, I'm not sure if your issue is really with the password...that's just a symptom of something else that is wrong with the system...not sure if it's entirely software or perhaps hardware or combination of both.

No, I haven't seen that message.
Since the last post, I've tried to flash various radio roms, two WM6 roms and what XDA says is the original WM5 Orange SVP M3100 rom for my phone (v slightly different version number though). All of them hang at around 11% or give an error message. I've ended up with a Dopod start screen (from one of the WM6 attempts) and a funny mixture of colours but I can still start Windows so I've got a pda with no phone access.
Taking your message on board, I'm starting to think that there is a hardware fault preventing the radio from being recognised. That is unless there is something fundamental that, being a n00b at this, I'm not doing. I've put Hard SPL on the phone, flashed roms and failed, reset it with MTTY (set 16 0) and used a variety of radio and main roms. Is there anything else I should have done?
I'm about to give up and see what it's value is and then see if I can get a hardware repair (if it's worth it). Otherwise, I've heard that some fetes have a throw the mobile competition ......... !!!!!!

I just got my HD2 back from repairs after 1 month now, I had the problem where the phone freezes up when I recieve calls. This got fixed, and I have not noticed any of the symtoms I had earlier. But now...
1. The FM-Radio does not work.
2. When I connect my phone to my computer, my computer sais: "One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. for assistance in solving this problem, click this message." And just connect - disconnect - connect - disconnect.
3. When I turn on my cellphone, I get a warning: BTTrayCE er ikke et gyldig Pocket Pc-program. (BTTrayCE is not a valid Pocket PC-program in English)
It just kills me that the phone that actually won the "Mobile of the year '09" by Amobil.no, sucks more than the Iphone.
Should I just send my phone back to repairs again, or do you guys have any idea how to fix this without using another month in repairs?
OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
ROM: 1.66.409.1 (76641) NOR
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM-date: 01/12/2010
Radio: 2.07.51.22_2
First off, I'm sorry to see that your phone is having these issues. Mine has worked like a charm ever since I installed the first custom ROM.
Now my question; have you HSPL'ed your phone yet?
You could try installing another (custom) ROM and a newer radio version to see if it helps.. It might aswell fix your problems.

I did use HSPL before I sent my phone to repairs, but it did not fix any problems, therefore I do not believe in HSPL'ing anymore.. I did not notice any difference at all, after installing a custom rom, or radio..
I see.. Have you tried Task29 yet? (Formatting it completely)
And then installing the latest Radio + a custom rom? (Before trying this, be SURE you have HSPL'ed it!)
If you've already tried that, I think the only thing you'd be able to do is to get a huge stone (or your HD2 itself), put a note on it saying 'It still does not work properly', and throwing it through the window of any HTC office in your country .
Or just open a ticket/calling them saying it still doesn't work and that you demand a replacement/new phone, as how it is now it's kinda an expensive brick.

Do HTC even bother about their customers? Doesn't seem so, seeing that if the cellphone should have any problems of this sort, they say you will get a new phone. But rather getting a new phone, I got the old one back, in worse condition than before.
Also, I wonder if they can check my problems? Because we have a law in Norway, if the same problem occours after 3 times repaired, you can either get a new phone or money back (same with all other electronics). So could I just lie and say I have the same problem + the new problems? **** the ethics ..

Task29 isn't that risky.. Just run HSPL again and get that done, then run the packed exe as found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644781. As long as you press the VolDown button when it restarts, you will be totally fine. However in your case, I'd indeed not expect much improvement, as it really seems to be a hardware problem.

I think it is all the same with those big corporations. One customer, who cares? As long as their phones sell, why would they bother? Same story all over again.
I'd go for the three strikes = new phone way. However, it does suck to have your phone taken away from you for another month or so..
sorry mate..mine works like a charm since day one must be just u it still is the best phone

I've heard Samsung support is even worse than HTC..
But indeed, the Galaxy S does have features that our phone lacks.. Still, I think the HD2 looks more sexy.

The HD2 looks way better, I do agree. But my brother bought himself a samsung galaxy s, and he's going to start making games and apps, so he could teach me a little bit, and if I have problems, I could go to him rather than sending it to repairs, (not all problems are easily solved on the intarwebz) and then I'd get rid of Windows Mobile..

I had the same issue too. TomTom replaces two BT files (Your bluetooth should not work by now) so the BT application can not start up properly. THIS fixes at least this problem (Use Resco Explorer or TotalCommander and unhide system files).
I hope you'll find help for your other issues, too.

Well, instead of buying a licence, you hack it, using a keygen of some sort :S Didn't quite get what I did, but I used CMD to open a keygen and create a file :S Was weird, but hey, I did it... After 2 hours of trying
Easy when you know how, but im sure its not something that should be discussed on the forums. (WTB TomTom for sale from the australian site, as i feel its worth the cash)
anyway, darkkoushirou is correct regarding TomTom + Bluetooth.
I found it easier to install it to the SD card then factory reset. Once thats done i used total commander to simply copy a link back into your start menu.
Now that my custom ROM has XDA_UC i have set it to auto-copy the link back to my start menu after each rom upgrade
I know that when i got the handset i was trying many different apps, some of which caused issues. Once you get an idea of the ones you need, doing a factory reset is recommended. Then only install the 'good' ones.
Hi All
Was using SD versions of Android in my HD2 which worked quite well .....decided to make the jump to NAND recently but I'm having a problem with phone calls.
When I make a call out, everything works fine, but when I hang up on the call, the hard buttons on the bottom of the phone all light up but the screen doesn't turn back on.... Only way to get the screen back on is to plug in the USB cable or power adapter or pull the battery and do a reboot!
Have tried a couple of different builds from different chefs and a couple of Radios just in case.
At the moment I've got the following on it:
Radio is 2.12.50.02_2
Android version is 2.2.1
Build is DL DesireZ v3.4 Final (but this problem also happens with CleanDROID V1.31)
Also tried an MTTY Task 29, reload of MAGLDR then re-flash of the NAND in case traces of my previous ROM were still around but that hasn't helped either.
Any ideas?
I seen many threads about same situation. Actually i itself use daily gpc hd2 gingerbread v1.5 with same problem. Sometime help back button (when call ended not at me). Sometime just more light to proximity (or it light) sensor (when inside and put phone with face to some light). Outside i just must turn phone with face to sun or good light then screen wakes up.
I tested many many nand roms. All have same problem.
Tested win 6.5, win 7 and sd version, they works well. That gives confirmation that my proximity (or it light) sensor works well. And finally that something wrong with nand.
Here was discussion that MAGLDR does that. NO.
I started run over net and find solution. Here seems no help for this right now. Maybe just problem ignored because cookers itself dont have this and cant do anything. If you dont have problem then how you can fix it.
On web i found some discussion about kernel problem or smth about this proximity sensor. I cant find it right now again. There was talking about this problem, but no solution.
I thinked about open new thread and invite kernel chiefs to discussion to solve this problem. But today i find your ask. I opened for any test and help that i can give. I dont be afraid to lose my phone if something must go wrong. Phone is just piece of electronic and you can replace parts. But knowledge and experience you cant buy.
Any ideas how to resolve this little bad thing?
Thanks for the reply.
Yes it's a real problem but mine won't wake up no matter how much light.
The only way I can get it to wake up is to plug it in to power, then the screen wakes up.
Is that the same as yours?
I i remember it right i was suprised once too if this happened. I just put my "again dead" phone to charging and its waked up.
If screen is dead and same time connected to pc (i use for managing inside phone androidcommander) then moving over dirs wake screen back too.
But lets look how long my nerves will be good. Today i thinked to move back win 6.5 and sell this bastard.
No don't sell we need to resolve! I'm hoping someone will look at this thread and help us figure out why this is happening. I can't believe we are the only 2 people who have this issue.
Anyone else have any ideas as to why this is happening?
This issue was also on sd versions. So I see nand has not fixxed it. I am running MDJ HD 4.6 and have this issue. Sometimes the light sensor works properly and other times it goes to black screen and gets stuck.
I read somewhere that it might be the hardware itself. Saw a video on youtube also. Seems the european T8585 and telstra T9193 might have poor light sensors. The T-mobile light sensor supposedly does not have this problem.
So I am guessing anyone with this problem does not have the T-mobile USA version??
It could just be drivers too. It is a pain and sometimes I wish I could just disable the light sensor.
Also NAND roms are no better than sd versions as far as bugs. If the sd version has the bugs then so will the NAND version. The build is just installed at a different location.
Yes good point.... the bug will be replicated as it's just where the OS is stored that's different.
I'm thinking it's the hardware as I have this problem on WinMo6.5 too and I have tried various WinMo roms but had the same problem.
Mine is a UK HD2 supplied by O2. Wish there was a fix for it :-( It's a real problem.
PS I ran PhireMOD's Skinny EVO SD Android for a while and didn't have as much as a problem as I have had with the 2 NAND roms I've tried..... if that's any clue? At least with that rom I was able to make calls and hang up and still get the screen back after I hung up (except for the screen going white and washed out which could only be resolved by a reboot). There was still the problem with the screen being on all the time during a call or the screen being black and not coming back on during a call though.
I have these sort of problems too. It's really annoying when you're in a phonecall and you take the phone away from your ear and it takes a few secs to turn on. Also when I'm unlocking it.

At least yours comes back on lol mine stays off for ages and ages and sometimes doesn't come back on at all!
Noticed that if I shine a torch into the proximity sensor that's the only way I can get the thing to turn back on :-( Also noticed the 2 little holes where the prox sensor sits appear dirty/cloudy... not sure how that happened.
I wonder if the prox sensor is busted or if it's just dirty or something? Going to get a T5 Torx and take my phone apart to find out if it's something I can resolve.
Well i had this with rafpignas kernel...i changed to markinuX today and tested it with over 10 calls and it works flawlessly right now
Hmm, are you sure g9650? Seems my guess about kernel was then true. I use gpc pure gingerbread 1.6 with gpc itself made kernel. I go right now replace kernel and test. Results tomorrow.
Took the phone apart yesterday night and uncovered the proximity sensor. Even out of the case it needs a torch/flashlight to shine on it to bring the screen back on :-( I honestly think the proximity sensor hardware isn't working anymore.
I'll try the kernal you suggested though just in case that's what's causing the problem.
Datas0ft let me know if it works for you?
Latz, actually i taked to test markinus extra clean 1.7.1 (right now on it itype this). Had one call before and no changes.
Also i stuck on taking out kernel at this version. Low knowledge. Dont find any help yet on xda. I work on it. If you have hints dont hestitate say.

:-( I was hoping we found a miracle cure! Ok let me flash mine tonight and try it to see if mine behaves any different. Will post back with results... let me know fi anything changes with your phone datas0ft.

Quick question, the zip file you gave me only has two .ko files and zImage while the original rafdroid kernel has like 5 .ko files... what should I do? copy raf's kernel .ko files missing into markinux ones?
Or just pack the zip file using two .ko files? Thanks
I cant ansver. Dont have much knowledge on this. I followed instructions. This taked to me these three files. I installed these.
I finded some problems right now (wifi and gps dont work and my 3g too). This may not happen at kernel side. I have made some changes on rom side. I go replace whole rom and then again kernel. Then i go make final decisions.
I'm having the same problems, you two are not the only ones. This has been really frustrating me lately, and I thought it might have been a problem for only me because I just had the screen replaced. It worked fine in winmo 6.5, now in NAND I'm having some issues. I text a lot more than I actually call, however so it's not that big of a problem for me right now
I just unbricked my HD2 from the white screen with no logo. I spent the whole day reading hunderts of post about the white screen- bricked HD2 - the solution was to change the mainboard (at least the official service did that) and the people mostly sold the phone as bricked, its maybe also an production problem with HD2 because it's caracteristic and usual for it.
I think the Radio ROM is the problem and that it's a hardware error caused by overheating(i will report if the problems occurs again but i think it works now).
How it began(STORY):
I went on a trip and used google maps and route66 with GPS/WIFI all the time. My OS was Android Nand ICS and it wasn't too hot. The first problems started with random white screen occurrences trought the day as i was using google maps so i took out the battery and restarted, it worket but soon after the white screen occurred again. The white screen occurrences became more often and at the end there was only the white screen. (people reported the the phone somtimes worked when they recharded the battery and left it alone for a few days, after that they flashed the new rom )
I used the ICS rom for a few months with no problems(same reported from other users).
One theory(i read it on the forum) that the ICS is constantly overheating the HD2 + route66 mabe it bricked because of it.
So there is no other way, it has to be an hardware problem but the good news is it can some kind of be fixed (because i think it caused an radio mailfunction) !
SOLUTION:
So this is the way how i solved it:
- I downloaded an old version of the stock HD2 WM rom(i found somewhere that it can fix the problem) so with radio.
- I extracted the .exe file with WinRAR(or 7z, winzp...) and renamed the RUU_Signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh
- I copied LEOIMG.nbh to my SD Card (they said it should max 4GB, and has to be FAT32)
- I entred the HSPL with Volume down + Power and it found the rom on the SD card i pressed Power to install it and it FAILED !!!!
- I was depresed again :|
- I keept reading and may owners had the same problem, someone suggested that the update worked for him after he left the phone in a bag in the fridge. I had no fridge in the hostel (and no SD card writer only the ROM on my SD card) so i tried it again AND IT WORKED !!!
After that i got a HTC screen that didn't boot. I flashed HSPL3 (also from the second try, flashing from HD2 tools(HSPL2) didn't work) and installed official WM from the HTC HD2 support and i think i will use it from now on (or WM7) .
After i did it once it didnt work(flashing from SD card) so i used this method:
- Entered the SPL/HSPL
- Flashed HSPL4 sometimes it does not work but you have to keep trying
- Task29
- Updated a stock WM6.5 from the PC !! (from the SD card didnt work(
- works
PS: If you see only the white screen when you turn it on you need to wait few days to get to the HTC seceen so a hardware error. Maybe try to put the battery and simcard out of the phone or put it in a plastic bag in a fridge ... maybe it will accelerate the process
So my theory:
- The overheading caused a hardware error that damaged the Radio ROM and the software(but how?).
- It's a producttion problem(may owners with the same problem)
- It mostly occurrs to android users - and mostly ICS
- As an engineer i have no idea why it works now but i like it
Ok i got a white screen with Windows Mobile 6.5 after few days (with android/W7 imidiently).
The problem occured when i was cooking almost 40 celsius.
Maybe the solution can be to put some cooling paste on the radio or similar thing

Hi, can u say which old WM version u used ? I dont have bricked hd2 but instead of this my lcd doesnt show anything in first stages of boot, i mean i cant see tricolor screen (but can get into this with buttons), cant see magldr or clk, cant see cwm or anything until android (hyperdroid) boots up. Then it works perfect. Of course even if I cant see anything it works fine in background, even more, i can go into cwm and by pressing buttons do everything but... cant see the menus (luckily got help on xda and i know menu structure). Anyway, I spoke to guy in mobile service point, who said that some time ago he had the same situation, his hd2 got exactly the same weird problem and he solved it my installing some old WM roms. Unfortunately it was long time ago and he didnt remembered versions. But he said it happened to him after playing with some 3rd party camera software and for him it was like lcd locked itself in specific resolution. I'm more than happy to try your solution if u can provide WM version u used, as i already tried few and... nothing. Thx
I used the newest version of WM 6.5 3.14 / 2.15.50.14 it worked for days(i have not used the phone but it was on without simcard). Afther few days i inserted the SIM card inside the phone and then after few minutes maybe half an hour the white screen appeard again
Now i will try the 1.66.405.2 version with 2.06.51.7 radio hope it works with the sim card or i will have a bad MP3 player
Problem still open
The phone works for days when i leave it in my room and don't use it (need to test it with a sim card).
But when i take it out in my pocket it just turns of and can't be turned on. I take the battery out and put it in and the famouse white screen appears and i can't flash it anymore (i can eneter the bootloader - voldown+power) but when i try to update the rom it hangs and restarts.
Had the same problem few times and the white screen disapears after a while(few days), the HTC logo appears and i can flash the phone again.
I have a feeling the phone is "more alive" when i use WM 6.5 old version (on android and WP7 the white screen appears after few minutes but i am not sure).
Next time(when the white screen goes away) i will try to flash WM6.5 and leave it with the simcard for a few days. If it does't go into white screen then it's a contact problem on the hardware (and it's triggered when i walk)
i tried to put it into the fridge but it did not work
i tried latest wm rom but it doesnt work, i can hear sound when its loaded but nothing on screen, pressing power off it just keeps black and then lights up display .... thats it. Weird but with android on board i works fine after boot sequence, just have to press power off 4times. Tried to load WM from SD card but for some reason I cant do it properly (heard thats only way to get rid of HSPL and have clean install), phone just hangs, maybe some error but my display is not showing anything at this point Starting installer from PC gives loads up WM rom succesfully, but as I mentioned before, screen just lights up, music is playing and ..... nothing. Maybe You can try this way ?
If not, you could try following :
using mtty do some task 2a and task29 then reinstall
or
try find someone who could plug JTAG into it and wipe everything

Mine is proably hardware, but why its fine on android and not with WM ?
It's definitely a hardware problem. When the whitescreen appears it can't be removed with flashing. i leave the phone for a few days off and than again the mobile phone boots without problems !
The phone works for days when i leave and don't touch it, but as soon as i put it in my pocket and wear it with me for about half an hour the screen gets white againt and the phone does't boot anymore(for days or more).
so definitely it's a circuit or component problem, I will try to fix it with hot air(to refresh the definitely or to break the pohone but i'ts my last solution)
Would a motherboard change help ?

Please help me, I have the same problem with my hd2 (white screen). I can not install anything on it. Tell me please, you solved the problem? Remove the battery when you leave a few days?
It just unfreezes at random. I found out that when installing windows mobile 6.5 and when it's winter that it works longer :|
For now it works when i install android it freezes after a day or two (in winter and almost imedietly in sommer)

I haven't read your previous posts, but from your last post it seems that your motherboard is failing. A common issue with the HD2.
