While in the process of trying to revert my I9000M back to stock, I've inadvertently screwed my soft keys i.e. the menu and back buttons no longer work.
I went from stock 2.2 to Darky's 9.2 Resurrection, had an issue with my data connection dropping intermittenly, tried 9.3 Extreme and then 9.4 Extreme, following all the guides, everything worked great but still had the random data disconnects happening.
Before I realized that it might just be the modem and that I should have left the 9.4 in and tried a different one, I tried to go back to stock using one of the guides here and now my soft keys are inoperable.
I've since tried reflashing using the information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952754
and actually got my phone back closer to what it was when I first got it, but my keys are still not working.
Any help or a direction to go from here in order to get these working again would be GREATLY appreciated!
Found some links to similar issues, I obviously need to get back to the same firmware the phone came with or close to it, then update the touch firmware from there.
i just flashed cm7 now home button stop workin so can some one plz help me out
I had the same problem when i flashed it. my reply was "it should work" and internet doesnt work so back to stock, rooted, doomlords kernel and overclocked to 1.6GHz
Hi all. I flashed my stock 2.2 Milestone 2 to the MS2Ginger 3.0 about a month ago. Everything was working just fine. But after one to two weeks of use, some minor bugs started to trouble me. I am a Chinese user and I used Moto Smart HandWriting for Chinese input. Everytime i tap on a message box or anywhere else to input text, the screen goes blank. The machine is still responsive and I am still able to go back by pressing the back button. The only way i can input text now is to use other IMEs.
Another thing is that my physical keyboard started to get double bouncing which was initially alright after flashing the rom.
I figured that it is something related to the data/cache or something else because the phone was okay just after flashing the rom. So i booted into bootmenu and do the double wipe to clear all the setting on the phone. But when i rebooted into the system, everything was still there. Lock screen password, messages, account settings, etc. All of it was still there.
I then tried to flash the MS2Ginger again following walter's post in android development forum. Again, nothing was resetted.
I am very annoyed. Can anyone provide some advice? Thank you.
hi, i think this should fix your physical keyboard problem... worked for me

Dear all,
I bought my wife a Galaxy y from t-mobile. I noticed when I locked the device via the button on the right and put the device in standby, I cannot wake up the phone by pressing the home button and get the screen to unlock the device by wiping. Only when I press the home button fot long time and sometimes twice for a long time, I manage to get the unlock screen. Very annoying. And when I do this, the sd card has to be remounted every time. Does anyone have had similar issues? Phone is on GB2.3.5 with LA2 rom if i'm correct. LH2 is the new release.
There's a software update available via Kies, but is not installed yet. Could it solve the issue? I hope someone can help. Thanks
Update the device, maybe the problem is due to update............
Did you check your lockscreen settings? Check there, you may put long press option there. Btw are you on stock rom or custom rom?

You've got quite a strange problem man! Maybe some glitch with your framework-res.apk. Do a full wipe (data & cache), and see if it resolves the problem. If it dosen't then flash the latest stock firmware.
Thanks for all responses. I was on Kernel LC1 and now after the update on LH1. But more important is that the issue is solved. Now home button works fine and no strange messages about memory card anymore. So I'm happy now...or better my wife
Hi, I recently got an A5 (2015) that hasn't been used for a while. It had lollipop on there so I updated it through OTA to the newest version and after that the recent apps and back key stopped working. I tried factory resseting, reinstalling the newest version of the firmware through odin, and now i rooted it and installed Aryamod ROM (note 7 port) and still no change. Only thing that fixes it is going back to lollipop, but i do not like that firmware because its buggy, laggy and outdated. Does anyone know the fix for this? Thanks for your help in advance
I apologise if this is a well known issue or something, but I couldn't find a solution through search or google. Also sorry for my fails in speaking English
EDIT: I also noticed that the phone gets stuck in sleep. Sometimes it takes really long for the screen to turn on, and sometimes it won't turn on at all and i must reboot the phone by holding power and volume down keys. Not sure if this is relevant, but it sure is annoying.. Currently running aryamod with hadeskernel v2.0
