Just wanting some opinions. I'm using Fresh 0.2 and wondering if its worth it to switch. Thanks for any response.

It's different for sure...do a nandroid of your current setup and play with damage for a while...if you don't like it, restore your nandroid back to fresh and you haven't lost any settings.

Ohh Yeah, Damage made some crazy battery improvement, dont get me wrong, I love Flipz and was using it till two days ago, and found that my battery was running as I was running stock ROM, but now with Damage, last time i charge my phone was last night 10 pm.
Right now it is 5.30pm EST NYC, and still got 52%
GPS running, WIFI, Exchange email, Gvoice, Fring, Android Community, PDAnet, and some others.
Your turn to judge.

It is true dude, I dont know what the heck he did to it, I guess the phone idles so nice now, and to tell you the truth, I even stopped using auto task killers to fully test the ROM.
I use Fresh because I have always followed flipz, and I just trust him more.

Thats the boat I'm in. Switched from Fresh on my Hero and ever since, just...problems.
I'm sure he's got his own kick ass tweaks coming soon anyway. In the meantime, fewer sprint apps is nice.
Both are great. Try them out and make your own decision. Many of the asop like ruins are also nice and so us the froyo port. If you can live without the camera for now that its also a great alternative. Soon enough we will have much more variety.
I'd use damage but there's some problems with it I just can't get past. For now i'm just getting by with one of these till the developer from my old phone puts out one for the evo
Ive had better luck with the Damage ROM then I have with the Fresh ROM. I also think Bugless and Baked ROM's are pretty darn close to Damage as well. The only ROM I had issues with was the Fresh ROM actually
been using Fresh and haven't really had ANY issues. Curious to hear from other people about damages battery life. Is it really that much better? I'm not that happy with the phones battery life. Coming from the Hero i've used both Fresh rom and Damagecontrol from there so i know they both make good roms. I don't really like all the sprint apps, but those are easy enough to pull out with adb.

What kind of issues? I used Fresh s9nce the day it was released and never had a problem. Just curious.

Memory leaks and no flash support (i think he fixed the latter with his last update though)
i use both i used both on my hero and will do the same on my EVO
atm im running flipz
Personally I switched from using Fresh to DamageControl. No 'huge' differences as far as battery life and such. Personally I think they are faily close to the same, other than the look of course. I liked Fresh, but I like Damage also. Cant wait til further update tho, and only both, and other ROMs can get better.
I'm done flashing, for now. I went from the Hero to the Evo and I flashed my Hero every update and tried different ROMs. I like the Evo stock cause I'm not always wonder if the "other" is slightly quicker or better on battery life. Also like it because I'm not having to reload all my apps and settings from ROM to ROM.

This is what nandroids are for. You can just save the current device and put it back to the exact way it was before.
Did Damage for 2 days and Fresh for 2 days.
With Damage my Battery life was DREADFUL, I had to recharge twice in the same day, both days.
Fresh, 16+ hours.
Same use, same apps for both installs.
A lot of conflicting posts, guess ill wait for more to chime in. Until then I'll stick with Fresh for now.
How many SD cards did u go thru with all that flashing? I am trying to be conscious of that so I dont turn mine into useless plastic.

this may belong in general but i am not completely sure....I am looking to find out which kernals/roms give you the most battery life....i have been using the xtreme kernal and epic experience rom however from calibration to now i have gone from 17 hours to today my battery lasted 9.
which rom/kernal typically gives the best battery life?

Epic Experience/Phoenix
Syndicate/Fluff Kernel C
Lol sp far exactly the type of replies I expected. I.e. Each different.
i have heard of epic experience and pheonix giving great battery life.I was pondering something as i was out and about is it possible to use syndicate and pheonix?
Also is their a reason that the Xtreme kernal and epic experience would be giving low battery life?

Baked Snack 1.6 w/ Baked Kernel
So far I am getting worse battery life with the Xtreme Kernel than I did with Phoenix or Mixup. I have only been testing Xtreme for a few days though.
Since i want to use the MobileAP, i have stock with Phoenix 1.49s.
Works great if you disable the drm service

Agreed. Running BS 1.6 w/ ultimate kernel, 18+ hours before it dies. 5-7% drain over night. Battery drains pretty quickly until it hits the 50s / 40s and starts to drain a lot slower from there (can js be my batt / % mod). Takes even longer to drain once it hits the teens. I keep my phone unplugged mostly to test battery (ordered 2 spares + ext. charger for about 10 bucks too).
In any case, I don't bother OC'ing w/ this rom. This rom / kernel is just so responsive. I was running Syndicate @ 1.6 and this rom / kernel set up honestly feels just as "snappy" if not more so (weird but true... I kept going back and fourth between the 2). You deff won't get the best bechmark scores, but the battery life more than makes up for the #'s (+ you can't tell the diff in real world usage... my phone is js fast).
Mods:
- stock battery w/ % mod (i feel it's a lot cleaner looking than the circle mod)
- flashed the stock icons from syndicate (again, cleaner than the evo wanna b icons from BS)
- pulled all notification / ringtones from syndicate (they did it right w/ all the extras)
Battery smart setup:
- No widgets what so ever (except Advanced task killer icon)
- No apps / services that constantly ping the cloud for refreshes (FB syncs once a day)
- No weather apps running in the background (I'll check the weather when I need to)
- Manually run "Lookout" ever so often, never let it run in the BG
- Black background (Colors app) / main "Home screen" is completely empty all apps are found on my other HS
- Always keep GPS / Wifi off unless I'm actually using either.
- Keep "JuiceDefender" on overnight, off throughout the day
- Advanced task killer is set to kill every 4 hours
- Use memory booster to kill a ton of apps after a reboot / system (app) to do the same (white listed any apps I need).
- Trickle charge (unplug for replug once you hit 100% until u hit 100% again... do that a couple times for max charge)
- Don't constantly drain your batt unless you're testing, keep it plugged in anytime available
Normal usage:
- Streaming music from Grooveshark (caches playlist / songs to SD to help w/ battery).
- Moderate FB, gmail usage + having the Good email client always running in the bg (for work).
- Light browsing on the internets (mostly testing if anything, I'm a web designer / dev).
- Always peak at the XDA forums (XDA app) to see if anything exciting is going on.
- Check out engadget (app) through out the day.
- Launcher Pro.

Froyo has been the best for me by far. I don't even worry now not having a fully charged phone when I head to work. Been working 10 hour shifts with only about 20% the whole night. Just gotta make sure you charge the phone, wipe battery stats and then kill it.

Im with a bunch of others.... Baked /w Step2 Kernel. I'd use the ultimate kernel but my phone randomly shuts off with it... think my CPU can't handle it. I had a lot of luck with the Epic Experience /w Phoenix kernel also. No complaints with any ROM to be honest....
I am having the worst battery life with my evo 4g running gingerbread evo deck 1.3 final with the Tiamat Evo v4.0.8. Makes no sense. I have nothing syncing but it looks like my "Android system" is working overtime. Lol. Any Suggestions or anything. I flashed the kernal when I flashed the latest evo deck rom two days ago. I know I'm suppose to give it time to settle, but how much time.
Try SavagedZen 2.2.1 CFS HAVS kernel with consecutive governor 960-245
I notice no lag and battery life is perfect

Try rebooting the phone and calibrating the battery. Do you have a wake lock going on?

I want to try the savagezen kernal, but I used to flash kernals too often so I want to give this time to settle and do its thing. Running out of patience though! With the tiamat kernal, what should be my scaling? Currently running smartassV2.

android system shows up after a call guys...Make a call and see what happens but that does not have to be the battery killer. It can show up on mine like crazy and I still get good battery life. Change kernels, drop processor speed delete apk's from system/app that you dont need and may be running. I mean there are a lot of things you can do expect panic.... Its ok give everything a shot you will work it out...
Oh yea change it from smartass to something else, you got choices what may be good for one person may not be right for you....
I just don't know what each scaling does or how it effects my evo. I just went with interactive for the time being.

superclean3 w/ kgb kernel is a good setup. Start with deadline/ondemand, oc 1200mhz and uv -50 across the board. Although In my honest opinion AOKP glitched m-5 is the end all of roms for this device. I consistently net 30+hrs battery life with 4hrs screen on time...not to mention its fast, stable, and oh yea it's Ice Cream Sandwich baby!lol

no need to try the other roms, try aokp first. ics runs better on the fascinate than it does on the galaxy nexus.

I'm on the stock battery, and I'll usually get just under two days with light usage. To be clear, I used to get 10 to 12 hours on stock. Things improved dramatically on debloated stock, SC3, and TSM Res, but AOKP is tops.
For comparison, my average phone use on a working day is~
-Gtalk back and forth a dozen times or so
-A few SMSs, back and forth
-Five or ten minutes of calling at most (avoiding those brain tumors, ya know)
-Ignoring two or three calls and then listening to the messages on GV
-Ten or fifteen minutes of some mindless game
-Use Epocrates app three or four times, leaving it running in the background for 6 to 8 hours
-Gmail set to push, usually receive and respond to one or two per day
-Hotmail checks every 30 minutes, pulls in a ton of junk, I read and delete once or twice a day
-One Android Weather widget that updates every 30 minutes
-Check Gtasks to-do list once or twice a day, modify it and sync it
-Maybe a few minutes of web surfing
I'm not sure if it truly makes a difference, but I have a ritual whereby I always flash new ROMs on a full charge. I then run the battery down to nothing. I fully charge it with the phone off. Once it's full, I unplug the charger and then plug it in again to "top it off." I'm sure this is bad for the battery in the long run, but it seems to make the phone get the most out of it for now. When the battery dies, I'll cough up the $20 to get the one Droidstyle is using. It may even be $10 by the time I need it.
to OP, I sent you a PM, and replying here.
I am selling my fascinate listed in my other thread. PM me for details if you are still interested.

Make sure you use the glitched exynos build for extra RAM and lots of other fixes and features.
And ICS runs like a dream on the fascinate. The only thing that isn't perfect is the speaker phone and with a little tweaking it works well enough for almost all uses.

I had no intention to push battery to its limits. I had busy days and forgot to recharge it. I was quite surprised when I saw for how long it runs on one single charge (see attached screenshot). I answered my calls regularly, made some calls, checked email a few times a day, and played no games.
What is your longest run on one charge?

Close but no cigar i believe. Lokifish has had the longest running battery life ive heard of. But you can mimic his settings. They are in the photon compendium thread.

I need stable blurred ROM with full functionality, so Nottachtrix seemed like a good choice. I use it for about 6 months and I'm convinced it's still the most stable among blurred ones.
I have 197 apps under "Downloaded" section.
I use only two apps for slight tweaking regarding performance. I disable apps I don't need to run on startup with Autostarts and I automated it with Tasker to switch to airplane mode between 23:00 and 8:00. That's all. No over/under-clocking/volting.

Kernel faux on stock 2.3.6 made that magic possible.
So I'm on stock 2.3.6 (retail - Brazil), and I get 12 hours or so of battery: i barely touch the phone during the day and that's the most I get. Anyone care to give me pointers on how to achieve that with full blur functionality?

Have you read my second post in this thread? Have you seen attached screenshot in the very same post? If you do, I guess it's pretty clear what's my recipe. ROM + kernel + tweaking. Nottachtrix + faux123's kernel (1 GHz version) + mentioned apps.
On Neutrino 2.9 I get max 14 hours thats with light usage and wifi off most of the time, as soon as WiFi is on I just watch the percentage drop by the minute.

I recommend you to install BetterBatteryStats from Play or look here. Just take a little time to study how it works, read help/manual. I remember before I switched back to Blur based ROM I had similar issues and discovered by beforementioned app that it was well known Bluesleep issue. I fixed it eventually, but how.. I really can't recall, it was long time ago.
