HTC Magic (TIM) stuck on splash screen - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I know there are a lot threads with similar title, but I couldn't find something useful.
Phone is my coworkers branded TIM HTC Magic and this is info:
HTC Magic
Sapphire PVT 32A
Ship S-on H
HBOOT-1.33.0008
(SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO 3.22.20.17
APR 29 2009
We were able to flash Amon Ra (recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2H.img) following this method How To: Root the HTC Magic in One Click!.
After that my coworker tried to flash this ROM (SuperflyTCBY1.1DSF) from the recovery, but after flashing, it couldn't boot. It is now always stuck at TIM logo. Than we tried flashing again some ROMs which doesnt require new radio but nothing seems to help.
We can access recovery and hboot, so is there any hope ? Anyone has some idea what we could do ?

It means that the Rom you flashed seems not suitable. Or may be it requires full wipe but u did not.
Try to reflash the rom with full wipe in recovery, if still can not run, chose other 3.22 ROM
Good luck
Sent from my Gingerbread on Sapphire using XDA App

I forgot to mention that before every ROM flash we did 'factory reset' and 'wipe dalvik cache' from the recovery, but still no go.
Could you recommend any good 3.22 [32A] ROM ?

I did not use 3.22 radio so I don't know.
I think u should wipe all in recovery, not only dalvik cache.
Also u may need to change your phone from S-ON to S-Off in order to remove app from system

How is this Development related???
Moving to GENERAL

Wrong and wrong. You only need to have security turned off to run fastboot commands. Your fine with only wiping data and dalvik-cache. Can't recommend any ROMs but there should be a list available in the ROM Bible which is stickied in the Development forum.

I have Desire with S-ON, installed LeeDroid 2.2. When I removed app in system such as Calculator, News, Voice,.. by Titanium or deleted by Root Explorer, the icons still there and the app still run. They said that If I want to delete these apps, I need to get S-Off first.

Who told you that?

You are mixing things together... The Desire phone has special nand lock... so the game rules are different.. but stick on the topic :0)
OP: Try to flash CM rom...
Rom: http://goo-inside.me/cm/dream_sapphire/stable/update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed.zip
EBI 1 kernel: http://briancrook.ca/android/cm-ports/bc-6.1.0-ebi1-signed.zip
Google apps: http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip
Flash in this order without any reboots:
1) rom
2) kernel
3) gapps
4) Wipe <-- VERY IMPORTANT
reboot and you should be good to go...
nb: first boot may take up to 15 min before you see the welcome screen.. :0)

Rooted with hboot 1.49 S-ON?

I had Leak 2.1v3 on my phone, and following the XDA thread, I've successfully rooted my Eris using the stock 8gb card. Twice. I re did the root thinking I corrupted the RUU file, or something else during the initial root. I have Amon recovery installed and accessible at will.
I have full access to my phone with adb shell with SU access, but I'm unable to boot into any custom rom. So far I've tried Evil Eris 3.0 and Aloysius. They install without errors, but on reboot the phone to access the rom, the phone will freeze or loop. I've tried waiting over 20 minutes with the HTC boot screen flashing about every 15 seconds after installing Aloysius.
I'm still showing hboot 1.49.0000 S-ON. Is this what is stopping me from booting a custom rom? Or am I missing something that will change the security status to off?
Suggestions? What am I missing?
Thanks
Ok, looks like I got somewhere, I managed to install the grdlock beta rom. Not sure why the other roms wouldn't install tho. They all came from the same source. hboot is still 1.49.0000 S-ON tho.

The new rooting method ("Incredible/Slide") does not currently replace the S-ON bootloader, so phones rooted this way will not have 1.49.2000 S-OFF on them.
As for your troubles, you need to Wipe /data (FR) in Amon_RA recovery before you install a new ROM. Amon_RA does not enforce wiping of the /system and /data partitions before a new rom is loaded from the SD card, so you probably ended up with a mixture of old ROM and new ROM in a couple of places. (The dev can pre-clean those partitions in the update-script, but I'm not sure if that happens for the ROMs you mentioned.)
Always a good idea to wipe before a new ROM install (not necessary for a Nandroid restore, though, because it does a wipe itself).

I thought I'd wiped those caches within Amon recovery. Good to know that I'm not going insane with the 1.49 S-ON tho! I couldn't find anything anywhere to let me know the S-ON was normal. After I get everything up and running with the grdlock rom, I'll back it up and try one of the other roms, being darn sure to wipe everything Amons will let me wipe first. Thanks for the info!
It appears that the rom files that I was using were corrupt. Without the md5 info for those files I had no way of checking. I went to a different site and downloaded Aloysius 12, and it's up and running just fine now
Thanks for the nudges in the right direction!

[Q] Mytouch 4G stuck in Splash after flash

I have read all the other Mytouch 4g stuck splash threads but, this is one different.
After rooting the phone, I got S=OFF, So I installed Clockwork and flashed CM 6.1.2-RC2. I received no error messages, but on reboot, it just stays on the Splash.
Here is the info from HBOOT:
GLACIER PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT 0.85.2007 (PD1510000)
MICROP-0429
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
OCT 11 2010 12:44:14
The Clockwork Mod is:
Clockwork Mod Recovery v3.0.0.0
I have done wipe data/factory and wipe cache partition
Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Gave error E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Fix Permissions
and I have flashed the CM Mod 6.1.2 RC-1 as well.
What else can I try to get my phone to work again?
I'm pretty sure it was said that you can't flash CM6 with Clockwork Recovery 3, and you can't flash CM7 with with CWR 2, and that doing it will brick your phone.

Your problem is that you're using the wrong recovery to flash cm6. That requires cwm 2.5.1.2. To fix this, flash either cm7 or evils miui rom, boot that up, then use rom manager to flash the correct recovery for cm6, if you still wish to use it.

Good news: My phone is not bricked
More good news: I had to install a nightly build called CM_Glacier_full-22 and that did the trick, just like you said.
Now i just gotta find out how to get all the apps (market and things) back on.
Thanks all!

to answer the uspoken question there, to get the market and other google apps back flash the google apps zip from the same place you got the nightly build. (here's a link, just in case: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/14459-nightlies-cm7-discussion-of-nightlies/ and its the link marked gapps. to reinstall the rest of your apps, if you have titanium backup, use that, but otherwise it will require manual redownloads from the market.
Thanks for the update, I was able to get the gapps zip and load it with CWM all is fine apps, contacts and all.

[Q] Help me unbrick my HTC Magic

Ok guys i am sorry to bother all of you but i made a stupid mistake. i think i didnt slept well.
So instead of wiping out my SD Card in recovery mode, something got into me to wipe the misc, recovery, data, cache and everything!
I have access to FASTBOOT and the info is as follows:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP100000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
version-main: 2.16.707.3
Is there any method i can unbrick my phone?
Goldcard.
Or setup ANDROIDSDK, put the custom recovery in the tools folder, open a command prompt there and type "fastboot boot nameofrecovery.img" and reflash your ROM.

thanks for the advice i will try it
hi it would seem that i can find a recovery image here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 and install it.
i can get to home + power = clockwork mod recover v 2.5.0.1
i can install a zip from sdcard but after reboot it still shows the HTC Magic screen!
ok if i remember what i did wrongly this is what i did
in partitions i:
format boot
format system
format dat
format cache
format sdcard
format sd-ext
after this i can still get into recovery. can my phone be saved?
Yes it can... easy :0)
1) download CM 6.1 ROM from here: http://goo-inside.me/cm/dream_sapphire/stable/update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed.zip
2) Also download the EBI1 kernel from here: http://briancrook.ca/android/cm-ports/bc-6.1.0-ebi1-signed.zip
3) Restart into recovery
4) wipe ALL <- important
5) flash the ROM
6) flash the EBI1 kernel
7) reboot and you should be OK.
thanks! i will give it a try.
hi i am able to boot into this rom. but this rom is not quite usable. it doesnt have a market place and all. what do i do with this rom?
Sorry, i forgot about the gapps :0)
gapps = google applications
Flash this from recovery:
http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip
You should now have a fully funtional rom by CyanogenMod(CM)
Source: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_version#EBI1CM6
thanks so much for the help. one thing i notice is that the clorkwerk recovery couldnt be installed properly.
what is a more stable ROM that you should advise that i use for long term?
There are many options to chose from.
You got the 32A board - CPLD-12.
You can use the new radio / old radio combos to chose from many different roms.
But to stick to your original problem, i think the main problem was that you did not wipe correctly causing the new rom to fail.
Always remember to wipe when installing a new rom unless it known to be "upgradable" from earlier versions/roms.
I will read around the forums and have a look at the development section for other roms.
For the old radio combo which you currently have, i will dare to claim that the CM 6.1 is the best choice!
But again, i bet that there are many willing to dispute that postulation :0)
hi mumilover, i am sorry for the noob question but when u say wipe what do you mean specifically?
because i did a :
format boot
format system
format dat
format cache
format sdcard
format sd-ext
am i suppose to wipe that much things? i suppose system, cache and dat can wipe but should i format the boot and system?

[Q] (Q) Flashing ROM Error?

Hey guys.
Sorry for starting a new thread, but I've gone through a lot of threads and still can't find my problem.
So here goes.
My phone:
HTC Magic
32A
6.35 Radio
I have the RA amon v1.6.2 recovery installed.
When I try to flash a ROM, I keep getting the following error half way through the flashing:
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Could anyone explain to me what this means, and what I need to do?
Thanks a lot!
please response someone i have some problemm
Try formatting the SD card. Backup anything you want to keep off of it before. FAT32 default allocation if done from Windows.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
I recommend you upgrade your recovery to the newer version. I found the same status error 7 when I was using RA Hero recovery 1.6.2.

Okay. thanks man. But what is the new version of the recovery?
I've tried the "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H" recovery, but it doesn't want to go into recovery then?
I've now tried quite a few different recoveries, but none seems to work. As soon as I select something in the recovery, it either stalls or restart my device.
Any suggestions please?

I think there's a 1.7.0.1 recovery that you can use. You need the one specifically for the 6.35 radio.

I've got a weird one going. I tried to flash a new rom after wipe with factory reset using clock work. The rom did not flash the build prop and some of the framework I tried other rom's starting with a restored running rom and the same results. Everything works fine just flashing a new rom seems to be incomplete any ideas?

Rom question (newbish)

So I downgraded my 32a 3.5mm My touch to 1.6, Then I used the Universal Androot to acquire root . From here, is it possible to flash to cyanogen or any of these roms. Right now I dont have a rom .
If so how would I have to go about it
Download ROM manager and click flash clockworkmod recovery and choose ION/Mytouch. Then download a rom of your choice and put it on sdcard and power phone off and power back on holding home+power and keep holding until you get into recovery. Then scroll to and select backup and do a backup. When its done. Select wipe data factory reset. Then select wipe cache partition. Then select mounts/storage and select format boot then select format system. Then hit the back button and go to flash zip from sdcard and select the ROM and then select yes. Let it flash. When done select reboot system. It will take quite sometime to boot. When it hoots your good to go. You'll find all the gingerbread Roms you want in G1 DEVELOPMENT. THE MYTOUCH 1.2 IS A HYBRID. IT SAYS 32A BUT TRUST ME YOU NEED 32B ROMS. SO YOU WANT ROMS FOR A 32B. DONT FLASH ANY ROMS FOR 32A!!! THEY WONT BOOT. Good Luck. Let me know how it goes. FOR YOUR FIRST FLASH I RECOMMEND TRYING COS-DS FROM G1 ANDROID DEVELOPMENT. JUST PICK THE ONE WITH YOUR PREFERRED LANGUAGE. ITS A GREAT FIRST ROM TO TRY BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL YOULL NEED TO DO OTHER THAN FLASH IT. IT WILL INSTALL THE CORRECT KERNEL FOR YOUR MYTOUCH. If you need help just shoot me a private message. I'd be glad to help. Universal androot is what I used. I did the exact steps I gave you and I've been running custom roms for a longtime.
PS. ACTUALLY JUST SHOOT ME A PM AND ILL GIVE YOU A LINK TO A GOOD ROM. IT WILL BE COS-DS-05202011 BY ROALEX. GINGERBREAD, ANDROID 2.3.4

TRY "fastboot" command to flash all *.img files
You can't use fastboot. You have S-ON. Fastboot is not even enabled on the Mytouch 1.2 (3.5mm Jack). Obviously he is not sure what he's talking about with the Mytouch 1.2.
