UrukDroid back Archos Firmware - Gen8 General

After I Install Urokdroid is their a possibility to return it back to Archos Firmware or Android firmware?

If you install Uruk the Urukway, the original is still there.
If you install it on internal sd, just go into recovery, format the system and install the AOS you get from Archos.

Thanks... ill be doing the uruk to my archos 101...thx

Wait, can I install Uruk and then go back to the stock Archos? In other words, recover to Archos if I have some minor hardware problem thus allowing me to get warranty work, or is it only possible to recover to the Archos SDE?

I think you can. I just format everything and installed the latest archos firmware. Urukdroid runs fast and can't wait for the .7.

I believe that installing the SDE to be able to install Uruk will void your warranty. I don't think you can fully uninstall the SDE software, but I may be wrong.

that's correct.
You can't go back to just stock. As the SDE will survive even with full format.
you lose warranty when u install SDE. (SDE will stick there forever hence they'll know and u can't undo this)
unless some great dev come up with a good hack.

You can uninstall the SDE (from recovery menu -> ... -> ... remove developer edition) but, as Archos says, your device still is "watermarked".
And most importantly, depending on your country, your warranty doesn't get voided. for example: your usb port doesn't break down because you installed the SDE, so it'll be fixed.

I just installed urukdroid. Although everything appears to be working fine, the screen response is no longer as smooth as it used to be. This could be because of the SD card I am using.
Any idea how I can find out the class of my SD card? I do not see it mentioned on the card itself.

SDCard class is not the best way to judge it's speed. You can use iobench.sh from Uruk0.6 to do the test and compare/publish results in SD card performance thread.

OK I will run the script and post the results for my patriot 2Gb SD card.

I still cannot post on the Android development thread so I am posting my results here. Maybe someone can move this post over there.

Quick one of the firmware front, I have UrukDroid installed, when I come into it I get a firmware upgrade notification to 2.1.8 (I had it on Android so not sure why its asked) Is it ok to update when in the developer edtion or with this overwrite UrukDroid?

You should ignore it. I haven't check what will happen when you allow to upgrade - I guess nothing bad (since it writes this update to different place).

Well I update but the UrukDroid stayed on 2.1.4, tried several times. Does UrukDroid get updated when a new firmware is released?

Thanks $aur0n,
for the answer, this was exactly my question for one new Post.
I am waiting the 0,7 for install in the internal memory, I hope came in short.
Thanks for the great work.
Best regard,

I installed the new update in urukdroid, everything works fine as it should. I have no problems, the only think is that my usb port now stop working.......now.
but don´t know if it comes from the update or something else because I got my hostcable yesterday

Check if USB on stock os is not working either. There is a change you are a victim of A70 or A101 USB HW error (they are something else - but in both cases USB host mode stops to work).

How To: EB13 Froyo Download/Install and OTA!

- It has already been confirmed several times, the 2 files are EXACTLY the same (OTA and the 91.14mb file from samsung)
- Performing the update this way did not destroy any of my data, texts, applications, contacts, etc. Everything was exactly the same, except for the new version of Android. You must have a stock phone or the update most likely will not work.

"Force OTA"
UPDATE:: IF you cannot for whatever reason load the file to your SD Card, gmail yourself the link (below) and download it using Dolphin HD browser. I just confirmed it works on my phone, however, it does not work with the stock browser. Check the market for Dolphin HD, it's free. Client mode is set to desktop, which is under settings once in Dolphin HD. I was able to download the update.zip to the phone rather quickly over 4G Other browsers may work, I prefer that one though. Doesn't hurt to try. The stock one will not save the file, though will navigate to it.
As I first posted yesterday, there are [now 3] ways of downloading and installing the new EB13 Froyo release. If you have a Windows PC, there is a new utility that Samsung has released to flash the phone via PC. I personally couldn't get it to run on my Win 7 x64 laptop due to the enlarged font I run on my high-res laptop screen. Additionally, the 200MB file will wipe your phone completely clean. If you have a "trouble free" factory install of the current 2.1.1, the update method contained here is your best bet. Trouble free meaning that only bugs of the software are present. If you have issues above and beyond that of all other eclair users, you may want to completely wipe your phone.
The easiest and fastest method is to visit Samsung's Sprint Epic download page here http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-D700ZKASPR and click the "Software" link (Manuals is the default landing page) and download the 91.14MB File labeled as for MAC OS. You will notice the much larger windows download (200MB) which is not needed, and may not work.
After you download the zip file, copy it over to your SD Card in your phone by either hooking it up and mounting it as you would normally do to copy files to your phone, or as I did, place the Micro SD card into an adapter and insert it into your computer. Copy the .zip file you downloaded onto the SD card; do not place it into any directory.
With your phone powered off, insert the SD Card back into the phone and replace the battery cover. Now, while holding both volume up and volume down rocker buttons (yes, you can push both at the same time), hold the camera button down as well and then press and hold the power on key. You will hold all 4 buttons on the phone until it boots into the flash menu.
Use the volume down button to scroll to..
"Apply SDcard: Update.Zip"
Push the Home key on the bottom of the phone and the update will commence.
Once it's complete, the phone may reboot into the menu again, at which time you select "Reboot" and hit the home key again.
The phone may reboot a few more times after it's first boot, and it may take a few minutes to fully get up and running. If it acts strange for a few minutes, this is normal.
Performing the update this way did not destroy any of my data, texts, applications, contacts, etc. Everything was exactly the same, except for the new version of Android. You must have a stock phone or the update most likely will not work. No ROMS, etc may be installed for the update to work. Before doing the update, go through your applications and uninstall anything you don't want / use.
You may also wait for the OTA update, but it will take a while to download, use up your battery, and you have to wait longer. It has already been confirmed several times, the 2 files are EXACTLY the same (OTA and the 91.14mb file from samsung) DO NOT waste time using a link to another file, there is no point and only risk in obtaining the file from somewhere else.
Before I began, I copied things off of my SD card that I wanted and performed a format on it. If you have apps installed on the SD Card, and you choose to do this, you may need to reinstall them. Once the update was complete, I copied the directories and files back to the SD Card.

Eh, it's not as concise, and also not borrowed. This is the easy, "don't do anything but update my OS" method. NOTHING is needed except the ability to load the Update.zip to the SD Card.

Does this work on DK28 Froyo? Probably not, eh?

This has been answered in one of those posts with several hundred replies (if I had the answer on-hand, I would post it). I kept the Epic stock to avoid any issues, so my update was rather simple. A few people have already had to reload their phones a couple of times before everything worked out.

DK28 wasn't official. The latest official release is DI18 - 2.1.1. This updates STOCK 2.1.1 ONLY.
I didn't care to fool with the phone originally due to not knowing the exact release date of froyo. It has been way over due, but I honestly didn't have any reason to mod. Froyo has enhanced the phone, but honestly doesn't provide anything new that would change the way I already use the device. GPS is faster to acquire in google maps, but in GPS Test, it was always fairly instant. It's also reports more accurate, reports being key, it wasn't ever off but by 20 feet anyway, which is about all you can expect on 3D accuracy.
I used the .exe file from Samsung website to flash my phone and works like a champ.
Now some minor quirks with Froyo but will address them in different threads.
Thanks for the help!!

Not advised for official ROMs, for custom you can flash it anyway you like. Though I think using CWM and flashing this should work... You end up with CWM recovery and an unrooted ROM. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Easier install method if you don't like fiddling around with the power button:
1) Make a folder called ASUS/Update from the root of your microSD card
2) Drop the .zip in there, rename to 'US_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip' (not sure if the renaming is totally necessary)
3) If you're doing this on the Transformer itself, eject and remount the SD card. If on your PC, just plug the card in.
4) Click the update notification, it'll start the updater on it's own.

[Q] Amatuer Noob needs help

I just got my NC and decided to give this a try instead of buying a N2A card.
Android Version 2.3.7
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
Mod Version CyanogenMod-7.1.0-encore
build Number GWK74
ClockworkMod 3.2.0.1
When I initially booted off the memory card everything was smooth until gapp. It loaded but when it came to selecting the apps when I clicked on one it flashed and just continued to set up. It didn't let me select any. No big deal because it worked fine.
I had force close issues so I ran Fix Permissions through ROM Manager and this seemed to help except for a few apps.
I used LCDDensity and changed that to 161 with Kill All which cleared up my force close issues on Words With Friends and Tweetcaster.
I get on today and notice videos are now missing from the market main screen and apps that I had yet to install are now no longer compatible with my device. They were last night but I was picking and choosing what I wanted on here. Why the sudden change? I rebooted the device just a few minutes ago and now the sudden change.
I also read about clearing davlik cache but how do you do this? I am not a programmer or developer so I have no clue. I have spent hours reading here everyday since Christmas and my mind is melting. I tried rebooting into recovery but I do not get the option to do anything. The penguin appears and a few things scroll down the screen and it reboots. I tried using the emulator and that won't work either unless I am typing something in wrong.
Are there any other tweaks or things I need to do to keep things stable and running smoothly? Are their certain things I need to clear regularly i.e. davlik cache, application cache or data?
I appreciate all the hard work and the time everyone puts into this. Please help. Like I said I need kindergarten instructions. Thank you.
First off, I've never had much success running from uSD. Even as far back as NookieFroyo. Once I made the move to running from eMMC most of my issues disappeared.
Davlik can be wiped from the Advanced selection when you boot to CWM as can Fix Permissions.
If you are going to run from SD then it is highly advisable to use a Sandisk Class 2 or 4 card. The brand does make a difference and others have found that other makes lead to slow downs and instabilities.
I would also recommend starting again following the veryGreen SD install method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
and using the MiRaGe KANG ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344873
This is CM7 but with the latest improvements including kernel adding to stability and performance.
Also, never use Windows to format your uSD. The format utility in Windows can (and does) screw up the format. Use this freebie. Has always worked well for me. You would be surprised how many problems that involve uSDs are traced back to a bad format.
I used LCDDensity and changed that to 161

To update the ROM on an SD card install power down, remove card then you put the card back onto the PC and copy the new ROM zip onto it but named as update-cm-*.zip. Put the card back in the Nook and power up with N button pressed until you see the screen flash. Choose reboot recovery and the new zip will be installed.
However, if you are doing a major ROM switch and haven't invested too much time installing apps etc yet then I would recommend just doing the VeryGreen install from the beginning to get a clean install.
I did a clean install and so far things are working well. Base off of the veryGreen install are there any "must have" settings or tweaks I need to do to keep things smooth? Any nook or CM7 apps you guys would recommend. I know it has been answered 50,000 times but I am losing sleep reading the forums here.
Thanks again for the help and your patience.
There are so many of apps that suitable for each individual personality, for me:
+ news: usatoday, bbc
+ sport: Y!spectacular, mobile sport
+ movie: flixter, moviefone
+ picture viewing: quickpic (must have)
+ time: clocksync (must have)
+ file navigate: file expert (must have), astro file manager
+ player: rockplayer
+ ebook: Mantano (recommended)
+ weather: fancy widget
+ web browser: Opera (like better), dophin HD
+ calculator: TI-83/86 emulators, also mortgage cal. and real science cal.
+ game: none
+ sex pos.: forget the name
+ few others that occasionally use.
Every one gets their own favorite apps to suit their interests. I personally go for ES file explorer for general file navigation and accessing my computers' shares wirelessly, Dolphin HD browser for the gesture navigation, moboplayer for playing media, and QuickPic for photo viewing.
But don't forget Nook Tweaks. This allows you to tweak the kernel and benefit from some of the good things in there that distinguish the Dalingrin CM7 kernel. Like overclocking to get a really good boost in performance (most people go for 1200MHz max for stability), undervolting to stretch the battery a bit, audio settings to make the stock feeble audio considerably louder (set DAC boost about 50%), and USB hosting if you want to connect USB peripherals.

Really? You are sure it's CWM 3.2.0.1? When you boot to recovery you don't get a Menu? If not, methinks your CWM is hosed. Have to say I do not ever recall not getting a CWM Menu. Nor can I call up seeing a "penguin"?
Have to say also ROM Manager is quirky at best. Used it a long time ago and found that it whacked my NC. Uninstalled and never used again. Found it was incompatible with other devices.
You might consider a new uSD install.

I'm not using SD CM7 currently myself but my recollection when I did is that the recovery is not a full clockwork but a stripped down one just designed to install update zips. As such you don't get the full menu and operation from ROM manager isn't going to work properly.

On this clean install I finally got it to work and there is no penguin. Just the menu that I should see so I finally cleared davlik cache.
I downloaded nook Tweaks as well.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

So I have done a clean install of veryGreen exactly as posted except that I have the latest stable instead of a nightly. So do I simply download that ROM file and do as you stated for MiRaGe Kang? Just asking because on that link there is a bunch of different things listed and I get kind of lost. All I need is the ROM file and follow what you said quoted above?
Thanks again.
I tried renaming the file but it says the name cannot contain * so what am I doing wrong. Searched the forums and can't find the answer.

The * is just shorthand for any name. You can't include * in the actual name as it is a wildcard character that matches any part of a name. The important part is that the new name starts with update-cm- so you can just put that on the front of the MiRaGe zip (which is all you need).
Thank you. I figured it out kind of. I downloaded that ROM and followed the instructions and rooted my nook which I did not want to do. I wanted to dual boot off the memory card. It is all a learning experience.
I did a factory restore and all was good again. Started fresh and was going for a new verygreen install and my memory card slot no longer locks the card in. I am so thankful I had completed the factory reinstall. My wife went to B&N today and exchanged it for me with no issue.
So for now I think I will stick to the verygreen install and tweak it to my liking until something stable for ICS comes about.
Thanks for your patience and help. Some really good people here helping out.

[Q] HTC HD2 help - android back to STOCK winMO 6.5

Hello, guys.
I want back to stock because of service reasons. I have cyanogenmod 3.7.0, android version 2.3.6
Now I downloaded the file (6.5 update) from HTC sites, and I'm curious about few things. The file contain 210 mb or so, and on my HTC I have 199 mb left on the internal memory - could this occure any problems regarding the install?
Also, I downloaded Minitool partition wizzard program to delete all partitions on my SD card and return back to FAT32.
Is this a hard task? Please, I really need help!!
Also after all this has been done, should I turn off the phone, hold volume down button and power on and get into boot mode, plug in USB, wait for USB-recognision, and then just run the file I downloaded from HTC?
Please help!!
#thanks to tmihai20 for help!

I would guess those steps are fine, and how would your internal storage have any effect on flashing a new ROM which overwrites it anyway? But yeah, you should be good to go now.

Alright, thanks!
But I should unmount the SD-card by doing it the safe way, delete partitions, make FAT32, mount in - turn off phone and then flash the rom?
This is the rom i downloaded from htc
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NOR_3.14.409.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
At least this is what it's named. Thanks for any help!!

Try installing the MIUI version it works great on the HD2, i had many issues with wm6.5 and other NAND. I have been using MIUI for about 1 year now, weekly updates and very stable

Oh yeah? Do you have the t-mobile version of htc HD2?
And by NAND, you mean other roms probably.
Could perhaps give it a try, but I think my phone has a motherboard problem, as it overheats very fast.
Haven't you had any problems with MIUI? which miui do u use?
